Re: Nintendo States That More Than 300 Publishers are Working on Switch Games

dres

@SLIGEACH_EIRE

Who really cares about GTA, Assassin's Creed, COD etc ?!?

I know that a few people like you are, and of course these titles would be a nice addition to the Switch game library.

But what really matters for the Switch, is some unique First and Third party content. That is what's going to sell it, and make it interesting for most buyer's.

Not big Western multiplatform AAA titles, that you already can play anywhere else. These are nice to have, but not a need to have.

Many have a PC, PS4 or X1 for these games already. And there you can also play the better versions, than on Switch. So no matter what, the traction of these big games on Switch, would be minimal anyway.

But eventually we are going to see more of those big games, if the Switch keeps selling as well. We already got Doom, Skyrim, Wolfenstein 2 and FIFA. More will come.

Take it easy, and don't be so negative all the time. It's not healthy for you

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Loses Out To Assassin's Creed Origins In UK Charts Race

dres

@Axlroselm
Odyssey is not a open world game. More like many big open levels.

And 3D Mario Games before Galaxy, where pretty much all like this. Especially Super Mario Sunshine.

Odyssey continues the tradition from Sunhine, and is the return of the true platform-adventure games we all loved back then. I think it's a great return to form.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time

dres

Why does people not get, that the Switch is a true hybrid console?!? How hard can it be, folks?

It offer's three different play modes: Handheld, Tabletop and TV mode, out of the box. It has detachable controllers, witch complements all these modes, even with 2 players. The Switch was designed to work equally good in all three modes, and the hybrid concept was the primary functionality behind the console.

PSP and other pure portable console's, that offered TV out in the past, where mainly designed as handheld console's first. The TV-out functionality was a bonus feature, but not the primary focus.

Also, both home-console and portable gamers have to make compromises with the Switch, because it's a true hybrid.

It's not as pocket or battery friendly as pure portable consoles, and it's not as powerful or offers big hard drive solutions like pure home-consoles. All because it's a Hybrid.

Even the Switch games are designed for the hybrid concept, offering different functionality and enhancements for the different modes. Like better resolution in TV mode, or touch functionality in portable mode.

Some games are best enjoyed on TV, like Odyssey or Splatoon witch enhanced motion controls, and even Zelda. These games are TV games first, and portable second.

We will also see some more mobile oriented games for the Switch, that will be better in portable mode, using the touch screen to the fullest, and being designed for shorter play sessions.

I didn't see this kind of special enhancements for different play modes, in games for previous portable consoles that had TV-out. Because they where simply just portable consoles, with a secondary TV-out feature. It wasn't in the main concept behind those consoles.

The games all ran with the same resolution like the portable hardware, and didn't offer improved or special designed control options in TV mode. It was exactly the same, no matter witch mode it was in.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time

dres

@roadrunner343

Yeah, I agree. As I said, I also really enjoyed the Galaxy games and 3D World. They where some of the best "pure" 3d platforming games around, and also one of my favorites. I also hope they make more of those in the future. 3D World was a blast in multiplayer

But this time around, it was time again for are real 3d platform-adventure with Mario. So I am happy that Nintendo went down that road again. I like both type of games.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time

dres

@Meaty-cheeky
For me it's more like Mario 64 -> Sunshine -> Odyssey.

These are the true 3d platform-adventure games, and it's nice to see the genre back.

Galaxy 1+2 and 3d world where also fantastic games in my book. But they where more like old school 2d Mario in structure. Smaller more tighter linear levels and pure platform fun. The "adventure" part about exploring huge levels and worlds, where all gone.

Especially the 3d world + land games, where almost pure New Super Mario 2d transformed to 3d. Still really great games though

After the last Mario Sunshine and the first "Jak and Daxter" game, there haven't really been many good 3d platform-adventure games around.

Sega tried with Sonic unleashed, and we also got Yooka-Laylee. But not much else.

The later Jak games and also Ratchet & Clank have to much emphasis on shooting and action. They are more action-adventure than platform-adventure.

So Odyssey really was needed, in my opinion.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Is The Best Rated Game Of All Time

dres

@Joker13z

Well, all reviews are and should be a subjective opinion. Nothing else makes sense.

And I really do not care for what cumulative score Super Mario Odyssey gets in the end. It's so meaningless anyway.

But I think the 7.5 reviewer could have a valid point, though. And that is the absent of a real challenge in Odyssey. I haven't played the game yet, so I can't say for sure? I Am going to play it when I get home.

But most of the reviews talk about this fantastic "playground" in Odyssey, where there really isn't any punishment for dying. It sounds like a lot of hand holding, and something like what we see in LEGO games.

All this doesn't have to be a problem, if the game makes up for that in other ways. And it is certainly great for causal gamers, who likes it easy.

But if you expect some old school challenge like in Super Mario World or even Super Mario 64, then Odyssey doesn't seem to deliver. And with those expectations, a 7.5 could be deserved?!?

I don't no? I have to play it myself, before I can judge it.

Re: You Can Now Pre-Load Super Mario Odyssey From The Switch eShop

dres

@mikegamer

Why?!? That is not the case anymore.

The Switch digital content is now bound to your Nintendo account, not your console, like with the Wii U or 3ds.

Right now you just have to call Nintendo, and say you have a new Active console, if your other console is lost. Then you can download everything again. You do not have to send anything in anymore.

If you still have your old Switch, you can do all the deactivation yourself.

Perhaps Nintendo will also make activation/deactivation through a website possible in the future. Like Sony does. Would be a nice thing. But to call them is not a big deal either.

We really only need a good solution for our save game backup, but this will come soon. But with the 4.0 Switch update, you can actually now transfer your saves and content to a new Active Switch console. Doesn't help with a broken or stolen Switch though, but it's a step in the right direction.

But right now, your Save games are just lost, if you loose your console. And that is actually the case, no matter if you are using physical or digital games.

Re: Review: The Mummy Demastered (Switch eShop)

Played it a bit more today. Still a great game.
This time I played it in portable mode, while yesterday on the TV in docked mode.

I think it runs much smoother in portable mode, than in docked? I didn't encounter any drops in frame rate like yesterday, but only played around one hour.

What do you guys think about portable vs docked mode? Witch mode is performing the best?

Re: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Will Arrive on Mobile in Late November

@Indielink
Year right... like drug dealers a totally innocent. We should let them roam free as they want to. It's just people being addictive and stupid taking those drugs, right?!?

There are actually people who get addicted to games, and can't stop paying those micro transaction. The gaming industry are calling them "whales", and some mobile publishers are active targeting them in their games. I think that is a problem.

I also think, that this trend is ruining many games for all others. Like we see more and more mobile games, that is designed to make people addicted and get as much money out of them. They a no longer designed to be completed without paying a lot of extra micro transaction. And some games can't be completed at all.

This trend has also slowly transferred to bigger games, and is a treat. The big publishers like EA are more greedy than ever before. Games should be made and designed only to give the customer a complete and pleasant gaming experience. Not to farm people for all their money. And if I pay 30-50$ for a game, I want a quality product.

Re: You Can Now Pre-Load Super Mario Odyssey From The Switch eShop

dres

@BustedUpBiker

The thing you describe there on Steam, where others get kicked off, is called online license control.

This is something you do not have on a Nintendo console, and I am also not sure that this is something that we actually want? It's doesn't really fit a portable console, to require some kind of online access all the time, to check you licenses for your games.

Re: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Will Arrive on Mobile in Late November

dres

@FragRed

Pokemon Go indirectly made a big impact on 3DS sales. So there you have it. It makes sense.

This is a weathered down experience compared to the full console version. It serves as a great introduction to Nintendos franchise, like with all their other mobile offerings.

If you want more of this, and perhaps something more fleshed out, you need to invest in some Nintendo hardware. It all makes perfectly sense business wise.

Nintendo needs to be on those big mobile platforms to influence potential new customers.

Re: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Will Arrive on Mobile in Late November

dres

@HFish
It makes so much sense.

Pokemon Go indirectly made a big impact on 3DS sales, and regularly Pokemon games. Sales really increased significant.

It's this positive side effect that Nintendo is after, when releasing these smaller versions of popular franchises for mobile.

If your want the real deal though, you have to invest in some Nintendo hardware. But as an introduction to Nintendo, these mobile games are perfect.

Also, these days many kids only have mobile and tablet for games. It is important for Nintendo to be on those platforms, so that they can influence new generations of gamers with their content and franchises.

Re: Review: The Mummy Demastered (Switch eShop)

dres

Have played it the whole evening now, for around 2½ hours. Have only defeated the first boss, and only cleared 18% of the map and 12% of the items. There is still a long way to go

I am not a fast gamer, and like to take my time to explore these kind of games. But still, you really have to be good at these games, and run through the whole thing to finish it in the claimed four hours. I can't do it.

It can also be tricky to get all your equipment back, if you die at a though spot, and far away from a save station.

I am loving it so far. It is really a great mix of Contra, Turican, Metroid and Castlevania. The enemies you face are like a mix of old school Castlevania and Metroid enemies.

The presentation, style and music are awesome. But I notice som occasional stutter, witch are unfortunate. But overall, it is really great.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

dres

@KnightRider666

Well, it already has. Maybe you should inform yourself better?

When it comes to activation and deactivation, the Nintendo Switch offers exactly the same as Sony does for PS4:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/activation.html

I can't really see the big difference here to how it works on Switch?

Except, Nintendo still have to make a proper website for deactivation, that Sony already has. Right now, you have to call Nintendo for deactivation, if you loose your Switch.

Although, a external deactivation feature would probably require some kind of online license controls, that Sony also uses:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/license.html

Because of Sony's license controls, you can actually sign in with you PS account on a different PS4, and play your games there. But you can only have one "primary system" like on Switch. All this is a nice feature from Sony, but not as important on a hybrid console as the Switch.

Backup of save games is the biggest feature, that the Switch is still missing. But it will also come.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

dres

@zumbertinho
Ok, that is unfortunate

If you are so unlucky to get your Switch stolen, or it brakes, you should probably just call all the available support numbers they have listed for the americas.

It's not like you are sending your machine for repair or something. They just need to deactivate your account on the active console, so you can transfer to a new one. I think they can do that quite easily with the Switch.

The Support in the US most have access to that, if there isn't any official support in Brazil anymore?

This number must work somehow:
Para llamadas desde el exterior de EE. UU.: 001 (425) 558-7078

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

dres

@zumbertinho

Can't you use this for support? :
https://www.nintendo.com/countryselector/regions/brazil

If your Switch get stolen or brake, you should be able to contact them there for deactivation, I would assume?

Ok, if you select Portuguese as language, you have limited options. But if you chose English or Spanish, you can chose Switch support.

Also:
http://pt-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/ask

Or you could call them on the second number (Spanish) - if you are outside of USA:

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

@PlywoodStick
Those problems with the NS ecosystem, you had with all previous Nintenod systems. But Nintendo actually did some steps forward this time around with the Switch.

All your digital content is now tied to your Nintendo Account, and not to the console anymore. You can only have one active account, and need to deactivate it on the console, if you want to switch to another Switch. But you can do it yourself.

If your console get stolen or brake, you have to call Nintendo to deactivate that Switch. But you do not need to send anything in anymore.

Is this a perfect solution? Absolutely not. But it is still a nice step in the right direction, compared to previous Nintendo consoles.

Also, it is obvious that you do not own a Switch. The Switch OS is really fast, smooth and a joy to use. Much better than the slow and sluggish OS of the Wii U. Nintendo clearly focused on performance before features here, and that is a good foundation. The features can come later.

We deferentially still need a proper way to backup our save games. But it will come.

When it comes to activation and deactivation, the Nintendo Switch is very similar to what Sony offers for PS4:
http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/activation.html

Except, Nintendo still have to make a online solution for deactivation, that Sony already has. Although this will probably require some kind of online license controls, that Sony also has:

@Morph

How does larger capacity cartridges help, if publishers cheat out anyway, and releases their games on smaller cartridges to save money?!?

The whole NBA2K18 game could easily have fit in one of those nice 32 GB cartridges, but they opted for one of the smaller ones, and forced the customers to download half of their game.

Other publishers have done exactly the same, because the large capacity cartridges are to expensive for them.

So what point is there for Nintendo, to release a even bigger and more expensive 64 GB cartridge right now, if publishers doesn't even want to use the 32 GB one?!?

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

dres

@zumbertinho

Ok, I am happy that you got enlightened. But please inform yourself before posting wrong stuff about the Switch in the future. Don't just assume.

All this doesn't help anyone and just confuse people. You even received two likes from others, that are just as ill-informed.

Nintendo released the Nintendo Network ID some yeas ago, to address some major problems with their products. Some of those problems you mentioned. Of course they would take fully advantage of this feature with the release of Switch.

Nintendo has actually leaned from previous mistakes. And now they just released a Switch "transfer" feature as well, so you can transfer all your data and saves directly to another Switch by yourself.

The last big feature we need to address all the major problems with previous Nintendo hardware, is a Save game backup functionality. And we will surely get this down the line.

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch is Modernising, But Has a Long Way to Go

dres

@dAvecaster
The Switch was not half finished or 'rushed to market' in anyway.

Nintendo have just learned from previous mistakes, and have done it all much smarter this time around.

You and others are underestimating the time and resources, that are needed to make a whole new OS from scratch. A console OS is not easy to make in these modern demanding age.

Nintendo really had to start from the beginning, because the Switch hardware was so different from anything else they made before.

A console OS must be fast and efficient, with very little overhead, so almost all the hardware resources goes to running the games.

But customers still expects all kind of features. They want the Switch to be smooth, responsive, fast and with touch inputs like they know from their phones and tablets. They want all the big media streaming apps and a browser. They also want all the previous thousands features from previous consoles, that was developed over years, from day one.

All this is not possible with a whole new OS, that was developed over a few years. Think about how many years Apple and Google have used to refine iOS and Android!!!

I didn't think, that Nintendo could have pulled that off, after how bad the Wii U OS was. But they really managed to make a modern and sleek OS for the switch. They made all the right choices.

Nintendo have leaned form the mistakes they made with the WII U OS. It was packed full of features form the start, with Wii backward capabilities and so much more. But it was also really slow and sluggish, and had a lot of errors. It took them a while, before they manged to make it somewhat stable and usable.

With the Switch, they took a modern and smarter approach. They released a much smaller core of an OS, and focused on speed, smoothness and stability. It's the Apple and Google way to do it.

If you have a solid and simple foundation, it's much easier to build and improve upon it later, and prevent bugs and errors while doing so.

You can't test everything in-house, but need to get things out there, to see what really works. Release small, simple and fully tested first versions of new features, to prevent to many bugs and errors. And then slowly improve upon it.

Nintendo have done exactly that, and It's the right way to go. In a year or two, we will have what we all want. But the Switch will still be stable, fast and smooth. Hopefully

Year, well. At least you can change the active Switch console for your Nintendo Account whenever you like. And get all your bought content with you. That is a big improvement compared with previous Nintendo systems, where you had to send it in, if your console was broken.

Now they just need a Save-game backup feature, either cloud bound or more traditional. And the biggest issues are gone.

A very polished mobile game. Have it on my Android phone. It's fun.

One of the rare mobile games today, that cost 5-7$ upfront, and doesn't contain any micro transactions or commercials.

The game is therefore not designed to take all you money, but only to give you a great gameplay experience. Like it always should be.

I can only recommend people to support this. It would be a great game to have on the switch.

Re: Nintendo Has Announced the End of the Wii Shop Channel

dres

It's a shame, but predictable move by Nintendo. If no one uses these E-shops anymore, they get closed down. It's way to early though, for the Wii U.

I think people are complaining for the wrong reasons about this. What is wrong about downloading and making a backup of it all?

The real complain, and biggest problem with digital content, is the DRM. I have nothing against downloading all the content, and make backup to a SD-card.

But all the Wii digital games are locked to my console, so what if it breaks in a couple of years? Then all the games are gone too. I can't move them to another console!

Nintendo should move the DRM away from all these games, before shutting the E-shop down. People could then freely move their content around, and have "real" backups forever. It would then be as good as physical games, actually.

Yes... this would result in some piracy in the end, where people would copy games to each other. But why care about this, when your are closing it all down anyway?!? There is nothing to loose from it.

Nintendo would actually just give the rights for the product to the consumer, who actually bought it. This way, the community could also preserve all these games for the future.

Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

dres

@JHDK

What you are talking about, is bad marketing. MS got it all wrong, when they focused on all the non gaming stuff at the e3 you are referring to. It did hurt the X1's reputation, for sure.

But then you look at the PS4, and all the media apps it got. It's offers the same as X1, and is no different. Sony where just smarter, and focused on gaming in their marketing message.

Nintendo has always focused on games. Their marketing and message has also reflected that. And with the Switch, their message about gaming where even stronger. Maybe because the Switch hardware is similar to mobile devices, and they didn't want to make the same mistake as MS? I get that! It was a smart move by Nintendo.

But all this is about marketing and what message you want to send to the consumer's. Slowly releasing some streaming app's and a browser down the line, without much fanfare and focus, will not hurt the Switch as a game console. It will just give customers some more usage options.

The PS4 and 3DS has all this stuff, and it didn't hurt those machines. Because the marketing was all about games, and the companies behind delivered on that promise.

If the Switch suddenly hits a massive game drought, like the Wii U, only then it will hurt the Switch as a game console. Especially when the device is full of non-gaming options, and people begin to use it mostly for media consumption.

Then Nintendo can't support their marketing message about gaming anymore. But at least customers have then something else to use their Switch for, right?

Again, huge amount of great games are what defines the Switch as a game console. Nothing else! Nintendo and third party publishers just has to deliver!

Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

@Anti-Matter
I haven't tried it with a stylus yet. But interesting question. I will try it soon.

The Switch uses a sensitive multi-touch screen, and does behave and work as great as on any modern smart-device today. I haven't felt any difference. And the OS is smooth, fast and work fantastic. It's nothing like the 3DS and Wii U touch screen and OS.

Some smart-devices like the Galaxy Note, and the Nvidia Shield tablet has native stylus support. So maybe the Switch has as well? It was Nvidia who build the tech after all.

Do not be afraid of that. Nintendo has always focused on the games. Past Nintendo consoles have shown, that some useful non-gaming apps never hurts, and have not moved their focus away from games.

Nintendo is "The Gaming company"! It's more Sony and MS that gets distracted by all the non-gaming stuff now and then!!!

Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

@Nintendoforlife

Or the parents could say: "Oh.. the kids want a Switch, and it can actually do the same stuff as our aging iPad, that we thought about replacing soon! Maybe we should buy a Switch instead?"

I can't really see how more usage options could hurt sales. It doesn't make sense at all! And most people can differentiate between a Nintendo game-console and a common tablet!!!

Again... it's the GAMES that is going to define the Switch as a game-console. Not if it also has a few usable tablet apps!!!

The 3DS has Youtube, Netflix (US-only), and a browser. I do not hear people complain about these options, or thinks that the 3DS isn't a game-console because of that. The huge amount of great games defines it as a game-console!!!

Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

dres

@Nintendoforlife

What is wrong with more options?

Look at the PS4 and all the media-apps it has!!!
Look at all the non-gaming apps the 3DS actually got!!!

Tablet apps for the Switch will never ruin it's status as a "Game-console". It's only the huge amount of great and big games, that will define it as such.

As long as the games are coming, it will be a game console!!!

Re: Rumour: Netflix App Ready For Switch, All It Needs Is Nintendo's Go-Ahead

dres

The Switch was born for this to happen. Enjoy all your content on the go and on your big TV. Perfect!!!

If Nintendo plays this right, and the Switch gets a browser and some more common tablet and streaming app's, then they could really take on the whole tablet market, if they wanted to!

I am also very impressed with the Switch OS. It's smooth, fast and very polished. It's on a level with iOS and Android, and as a multi-touch enabled "Tablet" OS it works great. I didn't really think Nintendo could pull that off, after how slow and bad the Wii U OS actually was!

With the Switch you get all the hybrid functionality in the box. You do not need to buy an extra Chromecast or Apple-TV for that.

I am not saying, that the Switch should become a full blown tablet. It will and should always be a gaming console first. But the most used tablet features will not hurt it, and make it appeal to a much larger group of customers!

Will soccer mom go for an iPad or a Switch the next time?!?

Re: Credit Suisse Forecasts 130 Million Nintendo Switch Sales By 2022

dres

Is sounds very optimistic.

But the Switch is also a very exciting product. It's still in a kind of beta state right now, not having all the features and services yet.

If the Switch is getting a browser, and most of the common streaming services, it could actually take on the tablet market in the future. And then the sales numbers really could explode! It's difficult to predict how much it could sell then?

I am very impressed with the Switch OS. It's smooth, fast and very polished. On a level with iOS and Android, and I didn't think Nintendo could pull that off, after how slow and bad the Wii U OS actually was! So there are definitely some opportunities here.

Many things will also depend on what Nintendo is going to do with the 3DS, and their dedicated portable consoles. Will there be a 3DS successor? Or will the Switch be the only Nintendo console in the future?

When franchise's like Pokemon hits the Switch, and if it's the only Nintendo console in the market at that time, it's could boost sales significantly!

Re: Super Mario Odyssey's File Size is Only a Little Bigger Than an NBA 2K18 Save File

dres

@Trikeboy
And how do you know, that the audio was not compressed for the Switch? 2K almost made the Switch game half the size of the PS4 version. That is some really good optimization there.

The 2K developers managed to optimize the game to fit a 32GB Switch cartridge, witch is great work. Then their management comes in and ruin it all, by releasing it on a small capacity cartridge. It's a shame, really.

And if you want to store replays and stuff like that, 75MB isn't going to hold up.

Re: Here's How Much Data You'll Need To Download For NBA 2K18 On Switch

dres

If the mandatory 5GB save file for 2K18 isn't true, then you really can't complain about optimization or bad compression for this game.

25-26GB for the game file size is actually really impressive for this kind of sport simulation game! The game is using 47GB storage on PS4, so this was actually a good Switch optimization job from the 2K developers!

The 5GB save data can properly happen, if you save a lot of replays and so on. And that is ok, as long as it's optional!

The real and only complain about 2K18, goes to the 2K management! Why didn't they go for a 32GB cartridge, where the whole game could fit nicely?!?

Releasing physical games, where you have to force customers to download a huge portion of the game afterwards, is just a really bad move. Especially when there exist other viable options, where you don't have to do that. I find it difficult to support this kind of practice!!!

Storage on the Switch is just very valuable, in comparison to other console's. I would gladly have spend 20$ more, if the whole game was on the cartridge, and I could save my valuable SD storage for something else!!!

Well, I think it's obvious that the Switch will get external hard drive support down the line, just like with the Wii U. The USB-3 port in the dock really is there for that.

It would also make a lot of sense. It would be a fantastic options for those that use the Switch mainly as a home console. And if AAA games keep getting bigger and bigger, and perhaps one day are as big as 50GB, the current storage solution with SD-cards will just not be good enough for many people.

Portable gamers can stil transfer thier favorite games for the go on the internal storage, or a SD-cards. And many games will also still be small enough, and can still fit into a singe cartridge. So no big deal.

I am pretty impressed with the way the Switch handles external storage right now. You can easily switch between different SD-cards, and the Switch quickly detects wich games are available for you to play, and which games can't be accessed. Why not put a big capacity storage option in the mix, like an external hard drive? It would just add another option for consumers.

@BlueOcean

Well, you are pretty good with a 128gb card for now. And I think Nintendo will make support for external hard drives before the end of the year, and before it's getting a real problem for most consumer's.

When 50GB AAA games do arrive, the current solution witch expensive SD-card is not going to work anymore!!!

But I think Nintendo thought about that long time ago. Or why else does the dock have a nice USB-3 port for no use?!?

External hard drive support would fix a lot of the problems the Switch have as a home console. And it seems the system can handle external storage pretty well.

Internal storage and SD-cards could then primarily be used for your favorite games, or games you want to play on the go. It would be a acceptable solution, together with save data management and cloud saves.

Nintendo will surely address most of these issues before it's getting a real problem for most consumer's. But we just like to make a problem bigger than it is.

In many ways, the Switch is still almost a beta product, and the first year seems like a test year for Nintendo!

I rather pay 20$ more, to have the publisher release the game on a 32 GB cartridge. The game is only 25gb in size!

Seriously folks, what should we do about it? Should we boycott these kind of games, so publishers would stop being cheap bastard's, and use those 32gb cartridges in the future?

The problem about this: Third party publishers would probably leave the Switch!!

So what to do? I don't like to support this kind of practice with releasing the game on small capacity cartridges! This should not become the standard procedure for Third party publishers!

I can then sadly tell you, that the Switch doesn't fit into the 8Bitdo Xstander Clip Holder!
It's a shame, and it almost does fit, but no .

I just got my Switch two weeks ago, and tested it as soon as I could with my Xstander.

Maybe 8Bitdo will release another Xstander, that does fit the Switch?

There are just so many great games on 3DS, so why stop playing on it, just because you got a Switch? I still use my 3DS a lot, because I care about the games, not the systems they are on. Everything else is just silly!

@Anti-Matter

Sorry, but your comparisons are very poor. 2d metroids simply can't be compared to 2d marios etc.

Its like comparing Super Mario Galaxy with Metroid Prime, because both games are in 3D and have some platform sections. It just doesn't make any sense!

While Mario or Yoshi are your typical simple and classic jump and run platformer, with level design and so on, Metroid is a full blown run and gun adventure-platformer, with more in common with classic Zelda games, when it comes to exploration, progress and character development.

Re: Soapbox: Seriously Nintendo, It's Time For A Switch Joy-Con With A Proper D-Pad

@AcesHigh

Nobody said that the idea behind the Joy-cons where bad or wrong from Nintendo. I think it's a great concept too, and they work quite well for most modern games.

I just can't see what's wrong with offering some alternative Joy-cons, that have a proper d-pad? They could just be released as optional accessories for people who prefer to play their game that way.

What's wrong with more options? It's not like it would ruin the concept behind the Switch and the Joy-cons, because it would never be standard in the box.

Just as the Circle pad pro didn't ruin anything about the 3DS either. It was just a nice option for a niche audience, who cared about their gaming. Special Joy-cons with some proper d-pads would do the same thing.
