When previews of the game came out, it looked like there was going to be some inspired art, but it was really just one level that had a cool art style.
@Socar Sometimes you separated from the babies for puzzles, but many of the Bros. attacks were performed with all four of the buttons representing each of the bros, and even some overworld puzzles were solved with all 4 of the Bros. simultaneously. You were very much playing with all four of them, for much of the game.
@SahashraLA "I'm not debating that point. I'm saying that, if someone looked solely at what is listed here, on this page, it would be incredibly disappointing."
You did make that point though. You said if the writers did their research this list would have 70 games on sale, but that's never been how they do that on this website. People already saw those sales, they wanted something different.
@SahashraLA I think the eShop lists all ongoing sales and this list is just the most recent additions to it. Some of the other sales come from previous download weeks.
When Homebrew can get like 2000 SNES games running perfectly, on the Wii no less, it's a little hard to believe Nintendo takes any time at all optimizing these games for Wii U. Just put them up for sale Nintendo, it's not that hard!
Having said that, I'm sure they're saving their big hitters for the NX. I'm going to hope that our game catalogs carry over onto future Nintendo consoles from now on.
Minecraft appears on multiple platforms. Not really controversial or confusing. The PC one will always be the best, and the one that all your friends will be playing it on. Everybody knows this.
They should have given the 3DS a better name too. It's done well, but it just sounds like part of the DS family of systems - you add a letter or a number to words and that's how it feels to people who don't patrol gaming websites.
The 3D was a cool way to get people into it, though. I remember bringing it to school and showing people the 3D effect.
If this can be done in someone's basement by a couple of people, Nintendo's version should've been better. Hardware does not restrict creative choices.
@Zombo lol for god sakes they are the same. most of the differences are like, "we drew it nicer" or "we ran the original flash drawings through photoshop mosaic tool to create the illusion of 16-bit", which has nothing to do with processing power. they added a neat lighting effect.
it looks like a flash game and can't run on the system that runs xenoblade, hyrule warriors, bayonetta
Mario Tennis 64 and the GBC one is the only generation of Mario Tennis that has been legendary. The soundtrack and gameplay were superb. They didn't need to add big mushrooms or power shots for this game to be good.
They could've just given that game a fresh coat of paint and this game would've been just as good. But instead they added non-memorable music and lame features that bog down the game.
@russellohh Exactly, It's all convenience. I like that you can activate/deactivate computers that allow access to your games collection on Steam. Nintendo is strict, but since the move to the Wii U they've stepped up their accessibility when transferring or recovering games.
@TheRealThanos I do appreciate physical media. I do. I have a Vectrex and have a cool collection of games and screen overlays that I love. I love arcade machines and pinball. I do, on some level, like my old NES.
But I lost most of my stuff along the way, whether I moved or lended something and never got it back, I lost it all. I do realize it's partially on me, and definitely not on you. Physical is just such a pain in the ass and the rewards of having it on a little hard drive and permanently in the cloud is comforting.
I will say this, there is one scenario where the digital thing could collapse on someone and that's if the company goes under, what would happen to our downloads? Realistically a company is probably gonna get bought out before it crashes. But then again, IDK, lots of online web services go down and your digital goods are gone forever.
I would think that Nintendo, heaven forbid, it goes under, would have something to rescue its cloud service or your ownership of games, as it has a legacy to uphold, but who knows.
All I know is for-the-now it's great, and if they ironed out a few of the barriers that prevent digital from taking over, it would be ideal. Not next gen, but the gen after that, review the landscape again and see if it's viable.
I don't believe we should fully make the leap until the games can be available for everyone, so some kind of physical media (like SD or USB key) would be necessary for those in the mountains, but inevitably...
It might still be a little soon to go full download since there are areas where Internet is less than favorable, but ultimately a download-only future is where we should be headed. But, for people with worser internet connections, there should be some way to acquire the full download from a store, either on an SD card or something else that can copy the media to your console.
A console should also come bundled with adequate memory to facilitate a download-only future. It doesn't have to have to be a terrabyte but it should come with enough space to last the console's lifespan for your average consumer. Which it probably doesn't, at the moment.
But ultimately, cutting down on clutter, disc errors, and other terrible problems that only physical media can cause, is what you wanna switch to digital for. I know people always argue that the ownership of the game is a problem, but freedom to do what you want with your games is something that all digital games services will be competing to do, so if the service is nastily restricting your freedom to do what you want with your games, those companies will suffer under the freer ones (like Steam!)
Nintendo will always have a physical presence in stores with toys, Amiibo, exclusive reading materials (like the Hyrule Historia) and whatever else they invent, so they're covered. The others will follow.
I was always super on-board for this game, it's was the last Zelda game I really loved until A Link Between Worlds came out.
I want them to make some more dark Zelda games. Nintendo is full of vibrant colorful franchises, and I like the idea of Zelda being more restrained and calculated with its use of color.
@bezerker99 I know it sounds crazy to play 60 bucks for a game and not even play it for 9 days, but it happens. Mario Maker would've been a dream game that I would've put years into as a kid, but right as a guy in my mid-20s, I'm probably going to make 1 or 2 levels and never touch it again. There's just not enough time in the day...

They acknowledged Geno. The game is now perfect.
Except the Forest Maze should've been included as a track. WTF Square, you partnered with Nintendo and you could've let them use more songs.

Re: Feature: The Twilight Princess HD Fan Project That's Taking On Nintendo At Its Own Game
@AceDefective why would you show a system at its so-called best if it's never going to achieve its best.
"and should never and I repeat never be expected to be a what a final product should look like."
So you're saying that if Nintendo created content that looked like its tech demo, it would be bad or wrong. This is dumb.

The Mario version was more like the mobile version which was good. The other one was bogged down with some kind of RPG - I didn't have time for it.
Hopefully they scale back the RPG elements significantly if they make a new one.
