Re: Feature: Memorable Zelda Moments

darkgamer001

Fellow Zelda fans, please head on over to G4.com and vote for Skyward Sword. It needs to win Game of the Year, but it'll need all the votes it can get
Zelda GOTY vote

Back on topic, Blizetta from Twilight Princess and the well in Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time would have to be my top memorable moments

Re: Nintendo America Posts Xenoblade Art on Facebook

darkgamer001

Well done to everyone who never gave up. Well done to all Operation Rainfall members. They have really shown the power of grass roots fan movements and are an inspiration to other movements such as Operation Moonfall and 100,000 Strong for Mega Man Legends 3.
Next up, the localization of The Last Story and Pandora's Tower =)

Re: Nintendo Doesn't Want a 3DS Price Situation on Wii U

darkgamer001

As an early 3DS adopter, it wasn't the price drop that frustrated me the most (I mean, at least we got the ambassador program). It was the new colours, bundles and limited editions that were released later. Why was this choice not given to early adopters? Oh right, so that you'd get people who'd buy more than one 3DS? Well, in that case, I think I can wait a bit before buying the WiiU...

Re: Tales of the Abyss Slips to 25th November in Europe

darkgamer001

Wow, the 3DS goes from a game drought to an over abundance of good games. I'm not gonna complain really, but I think that, for the company's sake, Nintendo could have worked better with the third parties in order to create less competition. Although this does have the benefit that it will make the amount of awesome 3DS titles look overwhelming going into the all-important holiday period, and it'll send out a strong message to the yet to be released Vita.

Re: Let There Be No Doubt - The Last Story is Australia-Bound

darkgamer001

That's not a bad idea at all, it could certainly be effective to a certain degree. Although in an ideal situation, no one should have to go through the hassle of importing a console and all it's games. I wish Nintendo fans would create a group or something to show Nintendo that they're strongly against the lame region lock. I'm playing Xenoblade right now and I seriously can't believe how a game of this scale and epicness is unavailable to such an important region and to so many gamers.

Re: Let There Be No Doubt - The Last Story is Australia-Bound

darkgamer001

NA still gets left in the dust...talk about sending the wrong message Nintendo. At best, companies will now want to work with other publishers...at worst, they'll start developing for the other consoles. Either way, as much as I'm a Nintendo fan, if I lived in NA, I would think twice before buying the WiiU after Reggie's shenanigans. And if Nintendo of America really think they can sell huge amounts of units to casual gamers like last time...they're in for one heck of a rude awakening

Re: Skyrim on Wii U a "Definite Possibility" Says Bethesda

darkgamer001

You know, I'm gonna hold off buying the PS3 version of Skyrim and wait for more news on this (yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but...). Besides, Xenoblade, Skyward Sword, all the awesome 3DS games that are gonna be released in the holiday period, not to mention The Last Story and Pandora's Tower (if they are released early in 2012) should be more than enough until I wait for the launch of the WiiU...fingers crossed on this one

Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?

darkgamer001

I wouldn't consider the Nintendo innovations as gimmicks...heck if it wasn't for the "gimmicks", all we'd have is just the same old controllers with better graphics...Most of what has been added to gaming is traceable to Nintendo successfully implementing it in gaming, with others following suit. Take that out of the gaming industry, and you might as well get a gaming pc imo

Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?

darkgamer001

@Mandoble and DrCruse: Sorry, I should have clarified...since the title implies a future setting, I'm supposing that the WiiU would already be out, so the hardware specs (and hopefully online) would be more or less comparable.
Thing is, I really think Ninty franchises would lose some of their uniqueness on other consoles, whilst exclusives on the other consoles would play more or less the same on another console with similar specs. Just my 2c

Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?

darkgamer001

A question to some of you guys over here. You say that you want Nintendo to go 3rd party so you can buy one less console. How about Sony shuts up its gaming division and starts publishing games on Nintendo consoles? How would that go down with you lot? (You can still buy one less console that way, right?)
Both scenarios are bizarre, but this is a hypothetical discussion after all

Re: Chain of Pandora's Tower Shots Show Big Weapons, Bigger Explosions

darkgamer001

agreed with LTD...fans should mount a massive campaign demanding that the new console be kept region free...at least it would serve to raise awareness about Nintendo's outdated practice of region-locking, and that's not something the top brass at Ninty would like to see prior to a new console launch. They MIGHT listen to the fans...

Re: Talking Point: What If Nintendo Became a Third Party?

darkgamer001

Oh my...Nintendo is NOT gonna turn into 3rd party. And the comparisons with Sega are ridiculous to say the least. Sega had pretty much already failed by the time they launched their last console. Nintendo have currently made a mountain load of profit from the DS and the Wii, and after a slow start, 3DS sales have spiked.
Just a thought...how many times do these doomsayers have to be proven wrong for them to give up?
Oh right, they don't give up... =.='

Re: The Last Story and Pandora's Tower Grace Europe in 2012

darkgamer001

I think Reggie is gonna come under even more pressure to publish these games in NA now...more and more gamers over there are going to be fuming at not be able to play these games (and rightly so...), and he's not going to give the WiiU's image as a viable console for hardcore gamers any favours with his current stance.
Operation Rainfall ftw

Re: 3DS Price Cut Helps Machine to Huge Sales Hike in Japan

darkgamer001

To all Nintendo doom sayers: I TOLD YOU SO! Sry, couldn't resist

Anyway, lower price, more good games coming up...the future looks bright for the 3DS now. Still needs a few more adjustments (better e-shop, youtube app and/or enhanced internet browser), but I'm sure it'll do just fine

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Makes Bold Move with the 3DS

darkgamer001

The ambassador programme is awesome, and I know some guys who are in two minds about buying now and getting the downloads, or waiting for the price drop. Either way, Nintendo will get more 3DS owners, which can only mean good news.

Hmm, a bit off topic, but whilst they're so humble and admitting that they made mistakes, I wish someone would mention that region locking thing, and how a whole lot of gamers would be pleased if a little update knocked out the region lock (if it is possible). Not gonna happen, but you know...just a thought

Re: Iwata Shoulders Blame for Low 3DS Sales, Cuts Salary in Half

darkgamer001

Guys...seriously, Nintendo isn't going to die...you think lower than expected 3DS sales and an uncertain future about the WiiU is gonna destroy them? Heck, they survived in the past despite the Virtual Boy disaster and the fact that the N64 and GameCube were outsold by their rivals. Relax dudes, these guys know what they're doing, they'll turn this around soon enough

Re: Iwata Shoulders Blame for Low 3DS Sales, Cuts Salary in Half

darkgamer001

I know he's still gonna be earning more money each month than most of us can even dream of making in decades, but this was still a very honourable move. Respect

Anyway, I'm doing my part to get more ppl to support Ninty and buy the 3DS (even though that's not saying much considering I live in the tiny island of Malta ) Most gamers over here were kinda reluctant to buy the 3DS at that price or simply couldn't afford it, and most of them were just waiting for a price drop. I'm sure there are similar situations elsewhere, so the situation is gonna improve.

But the thing with the 3DS is that one of its main selling points, the 3D effect, isn't easy to show to consumers (ex. how are you going to effectively show it in on a TV-ad?), so the 3DS really needs to spread via word of mouth

Re: From April to June, Nintendo Only Sold 700,000 3DS Consoles

darkgamer001

@BetelgeuseWC77 you've got a valid point there. I guess the Sony and Microsoft gaming divisions have their pros and cons in being part of a larger corporation, with the obvious advantage of more money, but I guess there are also some cons if other branches of the company are suffering (ex. less funds going towards the gaming division). That said, I think there's a reason why Nintendo did some research on mobile phones. Maybe they are looking to branch out as well...

Re: From April to June, Nintendo Only Sold 700,000 3DS Consoles

darkgamer001

LOL at the comments suggesting that Nintendo might follow the same path as Sega...really, you guys ain't got a clue. Do you even realize how much profit they made with the Wii and DS? Here's a clue. Your calculator would go bust trying to calculate that profit...and that cash is more than enough to help them get through a though launch for their handheld.
Believe me, if any gaming company could be considered in trouble, it would be Sony...outside of Japan, the PSP did not have the desired impact, and the same can be said (to a lesser extent) about the PS3. As it was about to turn a corner, Sony got hit by the PSN hack debacle, which cost them millions...I'm not saying they're gonna stop producing consoles, but that was just to make you guys realise that it isn't just Nintendo who has to go through hard times in gaming. None of the gaming big 3 is gonna go bankrupt anytime soon, you can count on that

Re: Uh Oh, Now Namco Goes for Single 3DS Save File

darkgamer001

There is only one way to send a message to Namco if you think that this was a mistake - don't buy the game. These guys aren't going to read these or any other gaming boards, so the only way to send a message is through not buying the game. It would then be up to Namco to gauge why the game failed. This seems like a small issue, and even more so when considering the nature of the game (it being an arcade Pacman), but we don't want this lame feature becoming some sort of disgusting standard on handheld games (much like how stupid DRM measures on many PC games which kinda ruin the experience of gamers)

Re: Nintendo Video Application Launches in Europe This Week

darkgamer001

Really disappointed with Nintendo Video. Apparently it runs an IP check for some lame reason, so even if I set my country to the UK, I still cannot get any content because I live in Malta. I can’t understand why Nintendo doesn’t even consider consumers from smaller countries. It’s disgusting.
