To me, this sounds like attacking the wrong company. Ultimately, gamers have to hound the 3rd parties to make their games more accessible. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants those games on the Wii U as much as we do, maybe even more. But the fact of the matter is, the final decision rests with those 3rd parties. No amount of pressure by Nintendo will work if there's no will on the other end, and we've already seen that some of these 3rd parties...coughEAcough....have a beef with Nintendo for the most idiotic of reasons. If they want to act like spoilt brats, they can enjoy the financial losses they've been making.
It's an NES Deluxe Set with R.O.B the Robot. Any sense of what's legally right or wrong should go out of the window here. I assume recycling incentives are there to...you know, help the environment. How about...I dunno...selling the thing to the highest bidder and donating the proceeds to an environmental organisation? Everyone's happy, catastrophe evaded. Moral of the story: you got to be able to flex the rules a bit in extraordinary situations. This is one of them.
Oh wow, calling the Wii U underpowered. We'll give you an originality award this year. It was going to Sony, but you're going to get it instead. Happy? -__-
@ mariobro4 - fair enough, but if the game will be months old by then, ppl who wanted the game might have already bought it on other systems. Also, I call bs on the 720/PS4 selling 10 million + combined in the first few months, and the Wii U not achieving that target in a year. For one, the Wii U is already halfway there. And secondly - to predict that the PS4 and 720 will both have a highly successful launch this early, and in this economy? Doubt it. Seems like EA/DICE can take risks when they want to. Double standards again
Fanboy mentality: "I'd rather Bayonetta 2 didn't exist, rather than it being an exclusive". And if you guys are surprised about how people still can't understand the situation, you over-estimate the IQ level of most gamers (as much as it pains me to say that) With that said, I'd like to see the original Bayonetta on the Wii U before the sequel comes out, even as an eShop download-only title.
So MH should never have been made for the PSP in the first place, and stuck to consoles? You know, cause of the whole dual analog stick thingy? Funnily enough, if I recall correctly, Tri was originally meant to be a PS3 game, but was shifted to the Wii due to development costs. So for a developer to not realize the folly of developing for a Vita game (which is expected to almost reach PS3 levels in terms of resources), for a much more limited audience....yeah, I'm starting to suspect he's blinded by fanboyism. He definitely wouldn't be the first
I'd definitely settle for Monster Hunter 4 localization info (for Europe too pls) and Okami HD for the Wii U (a sequel would be awesome, but that's stretching it a bit)
....and Capcom announcing that they've listened to the fans and restarted development on Mega Man Legends 3. Ok now I'm in dreamland....
Tbf, the Vita not only got a price drop, but also a wave in games, hence the increase in sales. However, the last time sales spiked, they fell back after a week or two
Yeah I read the above admin comment on the whole competition not being available to those outside the UK. So NintendoLife, don't take this personally. If anything I'm directing it to Konami (I know they won't read this but whatever) - Is a frikkin delivery outside of the UK that difficult in this day and age, in this globalized world!?? Geez...rant over
I expect a ton of Pokemon fans to come out in force and say we don't need this, because we're getting X and Y. Don't make me embarrassed to be a Pokemon fan, pls. There's a market for both games, and I for one, would probably buy this if it gets localised, and obviously X and Y in October (in time for my birthday =D)
You've got a point about getting attention there. However, I'm not sure I agree with the "any publicity is good publicity"....and in this case, this will mostly be read by Nintendo fans who either 1. Don't buy any gaming devices other than Nintendo 2. Buy other devices, but still prefer Nintendo So, at most, it would target the latter. But the latter will also be offended that Sony is mocking one of their favourite franchises, and may be put off from buying the PS4. Ex. I vowed not to buy a Vita after Jack Tretton called Nintendo handhelds a "babysitting device"
Whilst I appreciate a response from Konami, I sort of get the feeling that a considerable amount of developers seem to be making up excuses for not supporting the new system. For example, in this scenario, if they wanted to make a Wii U port, could they have looked into outsourcing that project and handing the responsibility to an external company? Of course, that course of action would also incur considerable costs and perhaps they felt that it was too risky at this point in time...
Oh come on, so she really liked the 360. And then she had no problem admitting that the SNES was her favourite system and that she's abandoned her 360 once she bought the Wii U. What did you expect? We're gamers first and foremost. We should have no qualms about experiencing other consoles. But I suspect some of you are being this harsh because of her gender, to be honest. Which shouldn't even be a factor here. If anything, I respect her for breaking away from gender stereotypes.
People are missing the point entirely by simply stating that it's a 'reskinned' WW. And it shows that a lot of people haven't looked at even the basics of game development. The HD remake will most probably use a lot of new resources and will have taken considerable time and resources to develop by the time it is released. Taking all that into consideration, you're asking Nintendo for a reduced price, even though we all know this will still sell even if it's $60, simply because of the demand. In the interest of fairness however, I think it can be a bit lower than normal retail games at launch, but not by much. Nintendo is a business after all
But essentially, they are holding back the game which is ALREADY out in English in other regions. Now that's what I call discrimination. Want to play games on release day? Learn the language. English wasn't my first tongue either.
It's always Europe that suffers. And Nintendo wonder why it's the region they struggle most in..... The language barrier is, and has always been an obstacle. Perhaps releasing it in English only and possibly adding other languages in optional updates can be an option. It's not fair that individual languages are holding back the whole release.
Business doesn't get in the way of fun. It's gamers themselves that get in the way of fun. Gamers who would rather buy rehashed games rather than try something new
They were working on a new IP too....that's even more reason why Nintendo or Platinum Inc. should snap them up... As for those noth bothered about Vigil because they didn't like Darksiders....you have every right not to like the franchise, but may I remind you that people make a living at that studio. Have a heart...
Why on earth would it suggest the end of consoles? The Wii U is doing well enough, contrary to what most critics would say/want to believe It just means more connectivity between the 3DS and the U. Great news for owners of both
Any release is better than no release. But the way some devs treat Europe disgust me. Were the strong sales of titles like Xenoblade Chronicles not a good indicator that rpgs are just as popular over here as in the US??
It's a start, kudos to the devs for doing this. And speaking of exorbitant prices for gaming....I live in Malta, and it's a nightmare over here. The main gaming retailer even has the audacity to charge €480 for the Premium Wii U (with Nintendo Land). It's why I've been ordering any physical copies of games from the UK for years....and I got the Wii U from the italian amazon outlet. We can't allow these unfair practices any longer
Capcom....shakes head I've run out of insults to describe this company, and quite frankly, none of them were enough to describe how they've fallen from grace in recent years. More pathetic excuses to 'justify' treating their fans like crap, that's very characteristic of them
No hope, I live over here in Malta...we even have to change region on our settings to get access to basic Internet features on the Wii and 3DS. And ofc with IP checks running on stuff like Nintendo Video and probably this, we're screwed....like most other small countries But of course no one is willing to speak up for gamers in small countries. We don't really matter in the big picture
Erm....wasn't the original Metro extremely resource heavy even on gaming PCs? Comparing it to other games, it smacked of bad programming at times, as in, the inability to use resources in an efficient manner...not saying anything about the quality of the game elsewhere, because from what I've seen, it is a quality game.
I wonder how long it'll be before he changes his tune and calls it a 'babysitting device'. Or maybe, just maybe, the change in tone is due to the fact that Sony isn't doing that well at the moment. Sometimes companies need a few humbling moments....the attitude of a few guys at Sony was downright disgusting, reminiscent of Sega's attacks back in the day. Mutual respect is much more constructive for the gaming industry
Oh come Nintendo, you KNOW that this will sell in the West, and you need to increase 3DS sales in the West, so this should be a no-brainer. But knowing them, we'll never see this in Europe...
It's clear that this kind of treatment of employees is a major problem in China, not just Foxconn, and is a direct result of an oppressive regime that does very little to improve the living and working conditions of the lower class citizens. Actually, that's a massive understatement - they actively promote these dismal conditions to continue to provide the cheapest labour option for foreign investors. And can you really blame Nintendo, or any other videogame company, for going after the cheapest option? Yeah, I'm pretty sure the majority of the consumer base would be happy to buy a Wii U for $500-600, just to feel at ease knowing that no workers were taken advantage of...
First of all, let's make this clear. The MCV article is flamebait, pure and simple. That said, their 'argument'....if you can even call it that...can be shot down in more ways than one. Graphics don't define a console generation any more, and just because it's called 'Wii U' doesn't mean it's just an extension of the Wii. By that logic, are the PS2 and PS3 revisions of the original Playstation? Finally, people are seriously underestimating the R & D costs of developing new consoles if they think that stop-gap consoles are a viable strategy.
The religious zealots in my country went ape when cards such as Dark Raichu appeared...we even had stories of priests finding and ripping up the kids' Pokemon cards, I'm dead serious
These groups shouldn't be given the time of day tbh...on the other hand, promoting groups seeking the removal of region lock and localisation of games like Earth Seeker is much more important
Well, maybe some people, you know, actually CAN read Japanese. Maybe in some cases, you don't even need to...ask the Operation Rainfall members how long they had to look longingly at Europe for Xenoblade and The Last Story...and they still can't play Pandora's Tower because of region lock...
