In anticipation of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's release in March, Capcom Unity has begun posting some details about the game's weapons, starting with the classic Sword and Shield combo.
The full weapon description states how this weapon set is more suited to novices, although skilled players who master it will be able to deliver devastating combos. The shield can also be used offensively to deliver impact hits, which sometimes causes the monster to a enter a dizzy state.
It appears that Capcom is looking to appeal to newcomers as well as experienced Monster Hunter players with its latest instalment. The exclusive Wii U title is an expanded HD version of Monster Hunter Tri for Wii and will also interact wirelessly with a 3DS version of the game. If you're desperate to know more about what Ultimate has to offer, check out our recent in-depth preview.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is currently scheduled to release in March for both Wii U and 3DS. Will you be picking up a copy? Let us know in the comments section below.

/me forever hugs all the weapons that weren't in Tri
Can't wait to get an official release date. Still hoping they announce a combo deal if you buy both the Wii U and 3DS versions. Come on Capcom, bundle them for $80. Please.
@XCWarrior Exactly. A bundle would be perfect and a first day buy.
Either way I'll be getting both. Thankfully my 'casual gamer' wife is a fan as well, go figure.
Now if only they'd bring back the Gunlance in all its glory...
I've always been a bowgun guy. All the colour of the rainbow, @JayCeja are switch axes actually worth investing time and materials in then?
All weapons have been included and enhanced. Join our forum:

What killed me about Tri was I wasnt able to fight all the "S" ranked monsters for + gear ofline. Having kids you never know when you need to pause the game. Looks like they Might have fixed this in Ultimate.
Always been a gunner. In the first MH, between Diablos, Lao Shan Lung, and Fatalis, being a blademaster was not as good in the end game, despite having more emphasis and choices...
Sword and shield seemed interesting, but it's always super weak except for gathering materials and the odd status effect abuse...
But of course, I couldn't resist using the legendary Frozen Tuna!
@CanisWolfred
Gunlance: CHECK
@zionich It's been a trend with Monster Hunter for all the best stuff to only be available online or in ad-hoc party missions. It's unlikely that would change now, but we'll see.
I've been playing exclusively with guns pretty much the whole game of Tri, which I'm blazing through at the mo in prep for Ultimate. I'm on 5 star missions now having just killed my first Lagiacrus, but I feel I may be being a bit short sighted by not beefing up on melee weapons, is it possible to play the game relying entirely on the bowgun?? Thoughts and criticism are welcome!
SnS, Gunlance, and Longsword for me! does anyone know if we can transfer our Tri characters into Ultimate somehow or will we all be starting fresh?
Yes
@tabris95
I believe Capcom said you will not be able to transfer MHT data. Oh well. It's been more than a year since I've seriously played, and I need to get back in the swing of things again.
I will only be purchasing this if it is made available for digital download. So here's hoping!
@GreenDream Good thing you don't need to log onto a server for the HR and G missions
YES IM GETTING IT
@GreenDream
But at least I could solo and pause as needed for the psp unite.
Getting both!! Yeah, a bundle deal for £70 would be awesome!!
Give us a bundle deal and I'll get both the 3DS and Wii U versions
