I hate more what it says about our willingness to play in to corporate hands and enable anti-consumer behaviors. It also proves how little self-control and consideration we have as human beings.
"Westerners love to fill in conversation" YES! this so much. sometimes people just need to shut up. silence is not a bad thing. its not something to be endured. if you have nothing of value to say, don't waste your breath, but also don't feel bad.
I mean 5 mil is still a lot of money for what was an easily avoidable mistake. hopefully this puts whoever's dumb idea the original design was in their place. my bet is it was some idiot executive who needs to stick to looking over numbers and stay the hell in their office.
@GAMER1984dude doesn't change the fact that sun and moon and now sword and shields art style looks like complete garbage. i dont expect it to go back to xy quality, but at least put out something decent.
@Narrator1 that would have to mean nobody had experienced a live hatching of any of those pokemon at any point in history which seems a little odd considering humans and pokemon have been around each other for a LONG time according to the anime. id be fine if they just retconned things so they had always been around, but every time a new gen comes out they pretend all the new ones were just discovered. it was weird even back in gen 2 when they were like "oh yeah theres this other region where all these new pokemon we just found exist." don't know where they were all hiding at since they clearly have had long established societies there. dont know why they insist on making things sound so illogical when a quick retcon would fix it all...
I'd LIKE to see kotor 1 and 2 remakes, not just ports, but i dont see it happening. EA is all about minimal effort, and remaking them would take effort to do properly.
Was EA's stamp on the thing not a clue? do you guys need to have your money wasted another 20 iterations before you use your brains?! though to be fair, it every new sports game IS just a slight texture update and a roster update and very little else. expecting improvements on an already stagnant series IS a bit insane. BUT ITS EA!!! at this point those who EA manage to still swindle deserve it...
@BlackenedHalo do try to remember the difference between a remaster and a remake. there are some disappointments here to be sure, but it isnt garbage. your entitlement is showing.
why do the battle scenes need to run sub 30fps again? i find it hard to believe they couldnt find a way to make all aspects of the game run 30fps at the very least. its not a new game by any means and still uses old assets. its not like the hardware couldn't handle it.
@Averagewriter not if you are smart enough to keep it saved. 10 years from now, we will probably be able to copy switch game files and just download them from some site run by said guy who was smart enough to keep things saved.
@Galenmereth my guess is screenshots and gameplay footage on anything other than the switches own hardware and screen will always look off. you probably wouldnt notice much difference on the switch's own screen.
@Denoloco just means it doesnt take a particular level of programming genius to port and optimize for switch. the more miracle ports we get, the less of a miracle it is, and the fewer excuses everybody else has. Not that ill ever play any of their games again, but im looking at you EA!
Id like a remaster of the banjo games on switch. not necessarily a remake, just a new version that renders everything more clearly and adjusts the aspect ratio to support modern displays. if they WANT to put in things like higher resolution textures and models, more power to em, but id settle for the former.
@Alucard83 obviously because the point is to make it more portable. have you tried fitting a regular switch in your pocket?! you can seriously mess up your joycons like that and its only doable if you remove them, just barely. you cant seriously look at this announcement about a DEDICATED HANDHELD and wond "WhY nO 6" sCrEeN?" Really, dude?!
@Shadowkiller97 why do you think it cant? its got a usb-c port on the bottom just like a regular switch. it can still connect wirelessly to extra controllers. its got everything it needs to still play on a tv. just because they are calling it a dedicated handheld doesnt mean if you really wanted that it couldnt. same hardware, same ports, just smaller with non-detachable joycon. only way it cant is if they lock it via software, which i see no reason to do other than just to be difficult.
@Heavyarms55 theyve already been dropping. there are enough used units at a cheap price in great condition out there to basically kill sales of any new units and the switch lite will seal its fate.
@Spudtendo no, they are just saying this until they sell their way through the mountain of warehouse units they have sitting around. the support they are talking about is probably just system security updates to keep pirates on their toes, and game patches. i seriously doubt their production of these things is going. if it is, its gotta be producing hardly anything at this point.
you gotta be seriously kidding yourself and be super cheap to fool yourself into thinking the 3ds will still be relevant going forward. anything released on it in the future IF anything does, will not be anything major. i think by support all they mean is updates and patches for games and to keep up with combating piracy. doesnt mean new games. all the 3ds is good for is its backlog, whuch if you arent going through now, you probably wont for a good while, if ever.
@USWITCH64 well dont give up hope. i think they make be working on options for save transfers. probably nothing as great as cloud saves, but at least the ability to transfer your current save back and forth. technically i think you can if you just store your saved on your microsd card but i havent tried.
@Lone_Beagle nothing in that price range would be substantial enough a far as hardware goes to interest anybody. even a company like nintedno recognizes a need for somewhat modern graphics to keep people's interest. something like that would only be able to play something like nes, snes, gameboy, gameboy color and advance games. nothing modern so no point. new adopters dont go for nostalgia. what you described would be better suited for older fans who need a nostalgia itch scratched which nintendo is already doing with the nes and snes minis.
@USWITCH64 with a screen that small, you wouldnt even be able to tell the difference. plus without a more steady power supply that the dock normally provides, games in portable mode run better at 720p.
@ArmenianJedi13 that would be a terrible idea. the whole point of merging their handheld and hom platforms is so they can provide better support. the wii u's entire problem was lack of proper support because they had to split their developers' attention across wii u which was a relatively new and unproven platform, and the 3ds which was already thriving. from a business perspective splitting their attention would be a crappy idea.
@USWITCH64 you can sign into your new switch on your nintendo account tied to your purchases, redownload them and activate your lite as the active console. your saves wont transfer though so still a work in progress. you also wont be able to play those same purchases until you re-activate your docked switch as the active console. at least this is how things are as far as digital purchases. you can still take your carts back and forth no problem, but your saves will not transfer yet. i think they are working on that.
@Nintendofan83 had been speculated on a while back but the moment the switch was unveiled killed any of those possibilities. the usb-c port does not have the bandwidth to support extra hardware by itself, let alone extra hardware AND the throughput needed to send a signal to a tv. just look at the external gpu enclosures used for laptops. they usually need a dedicated egpu port for that to work and even still, you lose some performance as part of a bottleneck. the switch's usb-c port would be maxed out and wouldt even make about what im guessing here would be roughly 50 percent utilization of the extra hardware's full potential. lots of wasted horsepower for a negligible boost.
@Krambo42 you will never be completely locked out of running any and all switch games. its just a matter of controls, which the lite can still connect to wirelessly. its a non-issue.
@roadrunner343 i mean if they get MORE unique, sure, but right now, they are small differences but still enough to make people consider buying both becaus ocd reasons. if they are gonna tempt people to buy both, make the difference in content more glaring then. almost to the point of making them different games. hell make each version happen in a different starting region. imagine if pokemon gold started in kanto and silver started in johto. THATid be fine with because id feel like i was buying entirely different content. but i dont want to pay twice for 98 percent the same content on both versions.
who, now hold on. exclusive pokemon have always been a thing but exclusive gym leaders? that there sounds like they are getting more aggressive in their tactics to get people to buy both versions and essentially buying 95 percent of the game twice. that is shady af.

@Dog you define a movies animation quality by its budget? i get holding up ghibli as a shining example of good animation, but there are other styles of animation, not to mention different standards based on the time and technology available, etc. you cant say somethings animation quality was bad simply because of its budget. there are a few pokemon movies id say had good animation quality.
@NCChris Gamefreak is absolutely NOT expendable. If Game Freak is still an equal part owner of the pokemon ip and own the likenesses of all pokemon, while nintendo owns all trademarks and names. If nintendo decided to kick game freak to the curb, that would be the end of the franchise as a whole because neither can function without what the other owns.
@westman98 If we were talking about an individual person, sure, but this is gamefreak we are talking about. they arent going anywhere and if they do, they will take pokemon down with them.
@Nagi_Nagisa Pokemon movies tend to be well animated. sun and moon... not so much. sun and moon was a MAJOR step down from previous seasons and making a movie for it puts them in the awkward spot of admitting it. they sure as hell arent gonna use that horrible style for a movie but they also arent gonna out the fact they only chose it to save costs.
