Caves of Qud is a masterpiece. A must play for any RPG fan. You can play it without the intense hardcore roguelike elements so it's like a regular RPG, or disable nearly all combat and wander the incredible weird world
game is a total stunner and such an easy 10/10. it's hard to explain how good the gameplay feel is here. it has to do with the deliberate pacing of each level and the placement of enemy spawns. there is masterful encounter design on display in every screen of DOJ. it has a rhythm that is totally unique, even among Cave's library
These are all classics, do give them a try if you're into action games generally. RSG is methodical puzzle action, the rest are high speed bullet hell. Cave's shmups are among the best arcade games ever
ESP.Ra.De Psi is sorely missing from this list. It's an elaborate, arcade perfect port from M2, with extremely high quality performance and customizability options.
The hall cons are a little stiffer but I like it, the greater resistance makes them stick to your thumb a little. They feel significantly more precise to me
glad to see Ikaruga but this list could be entirely classic shmups. they're all harder than Dark Souls - Dodonpachi Resurrection, Mushihimesama, ESPgaluda 2, ESPrade, G-Darius, Progear... all absolute thumpers
