Re: Talking Point: The Second Circle Pad and the 3DS Evolution

armoredghor

@TheDarkness It's not so much whether it controls better, it's what's easier to develop. Gearbox didn't build games for the Wii, not because of a vendetta but because it just takes too much work to build an engine and then lessen an engine, graphics, and rework an entire control scheme when the 360 and PS3 are so similar, that few adjustments need to be made. It's just more work develop a touch screen aiming system that may be new to some people than to just use an old easy to port interface.

Re: Round Table: The Ambassador NES Games

armoredghor

@Ren I see where you're coming from. You loved 8 bit games long enough to see most of them so you've probably already played this collection. For some this is pointless because it's old, others like it because their portable and other like them because they're still new. I don't mind a price drop because every generation has a pricedrop. They're gonna happen again. I just like that I got something in return which I have never seen happen before in any hardware that has a new rendtion.(slims, iOS devices, TVs, etc.)

@Uel & @TheDarkness here's how to play golf. choose your speed,(start with slow) angle, your club, your spin, and then get to the swing screen. As the marker moves left press A, (then it starts moving right), now hit A again after the passes your starting point. your distance from the starting point determines the power and slice or curve of the ball-if your left is on the edge of the meter and your right is just past the center, you will curve far left. The distance from the center is also your power. hopefully this helps
@TheDarkness -Wrecking Crew. the goal is to destroy all the lockers, silver ladders, and brick walls while evading the aliens or mutants. climb the ladders, break the lockers with your hammer; bombs break every thing adjacent to it in a sort of domino effect while knocking you to the bottom floor. You can't kill the aliens. If you beat a level, race the other plumber to get the coin in the brick walls. This game is a little bit more of a puzzle in later levels-finding ways to avoid enemies while breaking things in the correct order.

Re: You're Not Alone in Finding the First Zelda So Hard

armoredghor

I think the second one would be a lot easier to play if it saved your exp. points and not just your level. The first one was hard but it was my first real overhead 2d hack/slash. If you know where to go it gets easy but not knowing where to go with little skill and 3 life is hard.

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

armoredghor

Okay let me get all the hasty conclusions straight. A magazine announces a peripheral that nintendo confirms is in the works; it's supposed to be for a game created by a 3rd party. Nintendo is now seeing that the 3DS that has yet to see a major first party game is now backpedaling in fear because they dropped a price almost as soon as they did last generation. As a result they are going to try to imitate a new a rendition of the console that sold worse than any other system in its time. Now they are going to try to make all their games dual stick required which never happened on their latest home console and even though their last major attachment on their home console supported under 40 games in 2 years of life. Then they will fail because it isn't as strong as a device thats last rendition's library consisted of mostly ports. They will then move on to drop a device that exists in the market that they have dominated for nearly 20 years. To rectify this, they should remove their CEO which developed Kirby and remove their head in America who is their best press speaker. Did I get that about right?

Re: Analogue Stick Add-On for 3DS Revealed

armoredghor

@pacsuit basically yeah. People will whine over and over again but this actually looks pretty cool.
It's bulky like the vita, might have an extra battery pack, and is probably still in prototype form. 3rd parties are clients so they need something they can easily develop for. That's why they're adding the extra triggers and slide pad because those have become standard on all consoles. This if anything will probably become an option for people who don't want to use a touch screen to aim.
@thedarkness whether or not you use dual analog, it IS standard now for any famous fps. It's just an option.

Re: Dragon Quest X Requires Online Connection

armoredghor

@Sykotek yeah. that's not really square enix show off the brand new game in their series in front of an audience developed the same lead as the first one. Games are constantly changing to keep up with modern trends. They also change the series for the good of it. you nor anyone else on this forum knows the brain of the developer so none of us can say what dragon quest nor any franchise that we have not developed is supposed to be like.

Re: Expect New Product Announcements at 3DS Conference

armoredghor

@Mandoble Haha BS. the Wii was the first console to have motion control and by far the most successful of any generation. Yes we all bought it not because it was groundbreaking technology and made it many people's first gaming outing but because they all just thought-why not buy a game system for the first time. oo this ones the cheapest. yeah face it-it got a lot of success for casual gamers who got their start with motion control. back on topic. the ps3 has had plenty of success despite being higher priced-it didn't follow suit with the psp because there weren't any games that games that could be enjoyed in short bursts or for hours like pokemon, tetris, and level based games. That is what is necessary for a successful handheld game.

Re: Current Wii Model to be Discontinued

armoredghor

Most people getting it now aren't going to use the gamecube support. besides it's not like a backwards compatible wii is going to be that hard to find. It's been in production for over 5 years (assuming production time). The PS3 backward compatible model was only available for the first year-thus the shortage.

Re: New Look Wii Released This Christmas

armoredghor

Yeah like @LittleIrves said-there's no point to have it for people just getting it now. Gamecube support was great but most casual gamers don't even know it supports the old console or in some cases they've never heard of a Gamecube. Obviously, anyone in this commentary is not the target audience.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Nintendo 3DS Price Drop Debate

armoredghor

@Nintendo-Naut there aren't any real 'adventure' games with exploration out yet besides the remake OOT. If you're into fighters, It has Blazeblue, Street Fighter, & DOA. If you're into racers, it has ridge racer, asphalt, & Kart mode in Monkey ball. We also have Steel Diver, Pilotwings & Nintendogs but those are essentially remakes and enhancements.

Re: Talking Point: The Great Nintendo 3DS Price Drop Debate

armoredghor

@meizme here's the facts:
they announced the 30 launch titles more than 6 months before launch
It has an mp3 player, a camera, video channel, netflix and a web browser
you got your 3D final fantasy-it's common sense that they wouldn't release FF15 on it
3DSware is primarily 3rd party just like dsi ware
374 dsiware games-if you can't find one you like, then that's your problem
The 3DS was originally speculated to be priced $350-$400.

So I got to ask- when you had your $250 taken from you, did you ask what you were getting after you bought it or did they duck tape you to a chair and steal your money. Nobody forced you to buy this, price drops are expected(more in the years to come), and you can choose ground breaking glasses free 3D that other companies are following suit with or you can go with HD which has been around for years -even on phones.

Re: Feature: Staff Roundtable - Metroid's Past, Present and Future

armoredghor

@Hawkeye Wii well Dark Samus was never really a 'pawn of the space pirates. she was confused with phazon dust and enslaved the crew that she wound up on. I think she could have easily killed off the space pirates but I think it is possible that she is alive. and yes please another metroid character on SSB.
@RIft then what was the first point to really show samus's character?
@Kid_Crono All we saw in prime was startled reaction from the top half of her face and her laying by her ship in the 3rd reminiscing of killing her comrades. that's mourning and about how anyone would react.
I honestly can't think of a point the series before other M when you actually saw personality.

Re: Feature: Staff Roundtable - Metroid's Past, Present and Future

armoredghor

First off, you were stranded in the second one and on a mission in the first. Second, Echoes' light world isn't so pretty because it was struck by a meteor 60-80 years ago with an ongoing war ever since. The meteor turned plains and forests into deserts and swamps. The environment just makes more sense with the plot. You can't have a bright and pretty ground zero. Besides, the dark world was brightened up by the light beacons.
And plus before Other M Nintendo wasn't doing ANYTHING as a character with samus. They didn't change what Nintendo had set her up for because she hadn't been set up for anything. Not everyone becomes a hardened badass from war. Some get Post dramatic stress.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime (GameCube)

armoredghor

Good game. Beautiful graphics showing that smart programming can compensate for lesser hardware. Beautiful enemy design along with the second one and wonderful transition to 3D. Great way to open up a trilogy.

Re: Review: Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GameCube)

armoredghor

@46 if use dark beam on someone, you get light. Missiles are overly common so it's actually a real simple system. blade pods are situated around at least half the light crystals so it makes it a lot easier to get health and after your first suit upgrade your regen/poison rates are the same. & parallel worlds has been academic and novel concept from before videogames so it's been done but it wasn't anything completely original with a link to the past. Corruption is still the weak one in the trilogy-severely limited arsenal, off balanced hyper mode (that's not relative to increasing health), and an abundance of ammo (255 meant 51 super missiles but literally 255 is way too much) still a beautifully crafted world and soundtrack.
@Nintendude92 actually multiplayer is still on the trilogy collection.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Makes Bold Move with the 3DS

armoredghor

@Mandoble gee. I'm sorry they pinned you down and stole 100 from you in exchange for a 3DS.
@Wolfenstein83 That would fit the technology but most people would not have enough money to buy both at once.
@XCWarrior wait several years for a battery small enough to fit and strong enough to power 3 screens, don't whip the system in AR games, and every screen scratches. no exceptions.
@Magos2k7 Well, My only response is that the speculated price of the 3DS was $350-$400.
@Samholy they never said there wasn't a choice-they just said there are 10 games coming of each system offered by the end of the year and you get to choose 20.
@Moshugan Welcome to Nintendolife!
@allthoseofyouthatsaidthisismadness THIS IS SPARTA!

Re: FAQ: Nintendo Ambassador Program and Free eShop Games

armoredghor

I do think they handled this expertly. They're easier prices for the general public while still giving thank you gifts to the loyalists. And to those that think we will see GBA games given to the general public; I think Europe and Japan will but not the US. (Operation Rainfall lol)

Re: FAQ: Nintendo Ambassador Program and Free eShop Games

armoredghor

@7ATalavera Oh I just checked it on nintendo.com. you're automatically registered if you entered the eshop. btw, I'm not sure if we're getting free GBA games-if you check the wording, it says 20 free games, there will be 10 free games available on the first day for nes, and there will be 10 exclusive to ambassador gba games with no mention whether they will be free. I just emailed tech support.

Re: Capcom Blames the Fans for Mega Man Legends 3 Cancellation

armoredghor

wow. I seriously don't know their reasoning behind this but they definately had a fan base for a spinoff series that had originality versus the main franchise which has none. I really can't think of a good reason to scrap that. they could've at least released for the eshop with no hardware gambles.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U - Revolution or Evolution?

armoredghor

@Gamesake speaking as a guy with 4 friends that are hardcore sony gamers, they don't mind change. One of em' wont play it because he's waiting for a new nintendo franchise because we've 3 platforming marios on the wii and mainly sequels to old series. another is just a hack/slash or adventure gamer who doesn't see the point of motion control because motion control doesn't fit well in that genre, another has & enjoys it for what it has but can't find enough games for it. and the last one used to have it in its first year but traded it for PS3 to play other styles of games. Other systems still have innovations in their games but they are a lot more subtle.
back on subject. I think the WiiU could be a great system but it is too soon to tell. I am hoping for a second WiiU controller option for the sake of 6 player gaming plus 3DS controllers. I don't remember seeing any more buttons on it than I classic controller. It will likely have great online multiplayer options & big 3rd party hits so that we can experience what we've been missing out on.
