That "climax" phase. Geeeeeeeez. Is that in a consensual context? It doesn't look consensual. Ugh. I'm no prude (I'm not bothered by nudity at all) but the psychology of this just looks messed up.
I'm going to agree with the people who've already commented that advertising is probably not worth it. The core want the PS4 and Xbone and the casual want iOS and Android. Nintendo is lost in the interstellar void between the two.
@retro_player_22 512 MB of flash memory (assuming it still has that much) is plenty for game saves for disc games. Without online you can't access the Wii Shop and therefore cannot buy WiiWare or VC games.
Nintendo of America was worried the Wii U wasn't going to have enough competition from the PS4 and Xbone. So they're releasing the Wii Mini. Let's see how the Wii U does now, sandwiched between all these competing systems. On the upside, at least Nintendo makes money on the Wii Mini. So there's that.
The only reason this issue has arisen is because of WORTHLESS, GARBAGE, INCOMPETENT, UNQUALIFIED PARENTS who didn't set the parental controls. That is THE ONLY REASON. Minors should not have unsupervised access to the Internet. PERIOD.
Nintendo provides parental controls and friend codes. If those aren't enough, it isn't Nintendo's fault. But, alas, Nintendo is too chicken to defend that point. So all online communication through Nintendo devices must be either blocked or moderated.
And the joke is all these kids have Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts. I'm sure those are just squeaky clean.
I'm concerned about the apparently huge number of used balance boards available on the market (asking prices are around $5 to $20 from what I've read on 'GAF). This suggests to me that the people who bought the original Wii versions (Fit and Fit Plus) have dumped it. I don't think that speaks favorably for the Wii Fit brand.
I hope Wii Fit U is a huge success and sells millions of Wii U consoles...but I seriously doubt it.
I have auto-download turned off on my 3DS. If I had a Wii U I'd have it turned off there too. Downloading 1.3 GB without first asking someone if they specifically want the thing you are preparing to download is wrong. A general all-or-nothing option for auto-downloading is not sufficient.
Component video is catastrophically critical and is lacking from the Wii Mini. It should be illegal to manufacture and sell the Wii Mini. The fact that it isn't illegal just goes to show you how messed up the world is.
Orange would be great. My favorite orange was that burnt metallic orange prototype unit I think they had on display behind glass way back before the 3DS was released. That thing looked like a sports car. But I'd settle for this orange. Looks great.
Edit: Yay, Google image search. Found the burnt-orange pre-release unit (possibly just an engineering mockup with no guts in it...dunno):
My gut feeling is the GamePad was a huge waste of development resources (they put a ton of work into it) for not enough payoff. And now it's a waste of manufacturing resources (cost). It's a boat anchor.
I really think they should have made an HD Wii. Period. Just updated the Wii with a faster processor, faster GPU, and more RAM to make it capable of running games which look good on an HD TV (which the original Wii definitely does not).
In other words, they should have invested in the fundamentals, not that huge, expensive, one-per-system controller. I hope it's a mistake they never make again.
Great review, Morgan. I love this game (I also loved Rune Factory 3 (DS), Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny (Wii and PS3), and Rune Factory: Frontier (Wii)).
Whichever console gets the next Rune Factory game will be the console I buy. If it's the Wii U, I'll finally buy a Wii U. If it's the PS4, I'll buy my first Sony console.
@DarkKirby Yes, and still get ads. I tried a trial Hulu Plus subscription on the Wii and just couldn't stand the ads. So I canceled the trial. I won't try it again.
There used to be a Japanese "train cam" on Ustream. Someone got permission to put a video camera in the front of commuter trains, looking out the windshield. It was actually pretty cool. Lots of scenery (both rural and urban).
Amazing how uncivil some people are when they're hiding behind anonymous accounts. I'm not a fan of public profiles (for safety and privacy reasons) but I'm beginning to understand why some communities require them.
Back on topic...
Yup, I too subscribed to their YouTube channel back when NintendoLife first posted about them. They'll arrange just about any music for harp.
Suppressing rogue robots made me think of Bubblegum Crisis (anime), which I've been watching on Netflix in the US.
Even if I don't have the reaction time to be good at it, this still looks like a fun game. I really, really enjoyed playing Geometry Wars: Galaxies on the Wii (though in that game the enemies swarm rather than shoot).
But I still don't own a Wii U. Maybe one of these days.
The difference is the 3DS was originally selling for a profit whereas the Wii U has always been selling at a loss (since day 1). If they haven't reduced their manufacturing costs, it'll be selling at even more of a loss when this price reduction takes effect.
Yeah, it's really unfortunate that digital sales numbers are not more readily available. All my 3DS purchases are digital.
But assuming the sales are poor across the board, it reminds me of the outstandingLittle King's Story which sold abysmally world-wide (including Japan). There is no justice in the gaming world.
B1 and B2 being essentially the same except for some art tweaks and local multiplayer doesn't make sense because Nintendo desperately needs games for the Wii U. If they could have released B2 already, they would have, IMHO.
Holiday season? The xBone and PS4 are going to dominate the holiday season. I say that as someone who is unlikely to buy either system (i.e., I'm neither an MS nor Sony fanboy, I'm just being realistic). Stick a proverbial fork in the Wii U. It's done.
I have yet to try a Wii U so I only answered the 3DS questions.
I imagine the difference in distance between the screens makes the Wii U a completely different animal than the 3DS. Refocusing between a tiny screen in your hands and a large screen several meters away from you is a chore, I'd think. But I won't really know until I've tried a Wii U.

@R-L-A-George Yup, it's the parents who are "innocent" (i.e., extremely naïve).
Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns
What are "Special Notes"? Does that mean they are also disabling the notes we'd periodically receive from Nintendo? Geez.

Re: Weirdness: Worlds Of Power Is To Rise From The Grave In 2014
Any NES game? Like Pinball, for instance? That would take a lot of imagination for sure. Would the ball be the protagonist? Or the player?
Re: Review: Pinball (Wii U eShop / NES)
Revenge of the Gator in the 3DS eShop (GameBoy VC) is much more fun than this, IMHO.

@mookysam That's exactly what I was going to post. This chart reads like an obituary for the Wii U, never mind Rayman.

Rune Factory 4 and Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Legendary "Free Ranger". With a beak. Like a chicken. I admit I chuckled.

EA makes unprecedented "air sandwiches". And sells them for €49.99 / £39.99.
Re: FIFA 14 on 3DS is Officially Just a Kit and Roster Update
Should have called it the "FIFA 14 Unprecedented Edition".
I hope I live long enough to see EA file Chapter 7. Rot in hell, EA.
