When I saw the GamePad and console in black I almost passed out. Of course, I'm not taking black for granted until it is officially announced for NA. But it looks promising.
Our Wii has been in standby mode since February of 2008. The overheated GPU problem (flickering pixels) was caused by improperly attached heatsinks (manufacturing defect). It was not caused by standby mode.
If anyone is still reading these comments, there is an amazing documentary on Netflix called Harp Dreams which is about the USA International Harp Competition which takes place every three years. I learned things I didn't know about the harp. And there are many interviews with the gifted young artists in the competition. If you have Netflix, check it out:
Either black or transparent (in addition to any other colors Nintendo wants to release). Please. I don't want to be forced to put a bright white console in our entertainment system, which is all black so that it doesn't draw attention to itself. We don't want to see anything besides what's on the screen.
From a marketing point of view, Nintendo can always show white in their ads and have the other colors in the fine print. That way they can get the mass appeal they believe white will give them and still satisfy the geeks like me who want a different color. So Nintendo can have its cake and eat it too.
I've watched all the videos on YouTube now and I'm really amazed by how well the audio and video are synced. It looks like the audio was recorded live.
The "My Life Would Suck Without You" video with clips of the artists as children is adorable:

It's Waluigi Purple. But I suppose he's a niche character.
