64 was the best, but Command is a close second. Command is a criminally underrated game that gave Star Fox its life back IMO. Not quite a traditional experience, but at least it puts Fox back in the Arwing where he belongs.
I'd love to go on a long-winded tirade about the potential of DSiWare and the piles of manure that are shoveled into it, but I'll just say that I expected better.
I dislike Harvest Moon, but I feel bad for those who were waiting for this, especially since Natsume (Oops, I guess that's Natume ) came up with a half-excuse not to re-release it. Coding and technical problems? Really? Any game developer worth their own salt knows technology like the back of their hand, and should find away around technical problems easily.
Stick me in the boat with those who never experienced the GBC original. And I thought I was the only one in that boat. Now I'm so excited for this sequel, I want to take back my pledge not to buy any DSiWare games, and instead buy future 3DSWare games, even though I don't know if 3DSWare would have the same games on it as DSiWare. Sigh.
Metang and SuperMarioFan1995 make good points. This game has indeed aged terribly. It's unbelievably slow, the drifting sucks, the battle mode is very threadbare, and the graphics are uglier than the rear end of a dog with a rash. The way this game moves feels so incredibly broken, and only adds to the game's ugliness as the roads, walls, and other features noticeably warp themselves with each passing frame. The only good things to be said about this game is that some of the tracks are designed well, such as this game's rendition of Bowser's Castle, and the item balance hits the mark.
Whee, more useless, deadbeat characters that don't need to be there.
Chip from Sonic Unleashed doesn't look like he needed to be there at first, but he's actually the counter to the main boss. That's pretty significant. I would have liked Chip better if not for his god-awful voice acting... UGH.
But really, we could get along just fine with Sonic, Dr. Robotnik (including his creations... specifically, Metal Sonic), Knuckles, Shadow, and maybe, MAYBE Tails and Amy.
Sigh. WiiWare has so much potential, but it's being almost literally crapped on by elephant ****, to such a point that you start getting that feeling where you don't know whether to laugh or cry. This one doesn't belong with the ordinary garbage. It belongs with the really smelly garbage. Curse your faces and your ineptitude, Kolkom. We will not forgive you any time soon for joining the other incompetent developers in cluttering up WiiWare with manure.
@Bass: That's a good question. Even if Rare did stick with Nintendo, there would still be a possibility that they would screw themselves up, just like they did under Microsoft's ownership. After all, the true murderer of Rare is Rare themselves. I don't know what kind of control that console developers exert on the 2nd party developers that they own, but I doubt that Microsoft really controlled Rare enough to make them create awful games. As far as I know, Microsoft's ownership of Rare only means that Rare can develop only for Microsoft-made consoles. :/
I knew it would happen one of these days. Rare has gone from a source of classics to just another soulless game developer since the fatal moment in 2002, when they were bought by Microsoft. Adding further proof to Rare's newfound stupidity, they're too thick to see that Microsoft murdered them. The way they're going now, I wouldn't be surprised if Rare went bankrupt within the next decade.
All in all, it was a reasonable thing to shut down MundoRare. There's just no point in being a fan of a company that is only good for the stuff they did years ago. People who still tie their faith to Rare are nothing but fools who dwell on the past. It's now time to move on and forget, and to see that what Rare is doing now is draining their own life force away. Now a shadow of their former selves, it's time to just proclaim Rare as a dead developer before it goes bankrupt. After all, it will happen very soon. Try your best to mark my words, even if they're too long to mark.
Thank you for listening to that long-winded speech of mine, all four of you who didn't lose your attention span halfway through.
This game is incredibly overrated. The gameplay was laggy and slow, the controls were too tight, the stages looked too ordinary and didn't have the Nintendo charm that I expected (and this problem wasn't fixed in the sequel, either), and the graphics are jagged and ugly for a twilight N64 title: Super Mario 64, which was out four years before this game, was graphically superior.
All in all, a pretty messy and mediocre game that gets so much praise for reasons way beyond me.
This game deserves a 9/10, no contest. The only thing stopping it from a perfect 10 is the annoying and frustrating permanent death: you lose a unit in battle, they're gone forever. Poof. They'll never see another battle again, which is REALLY frustrating since you NEED a lot of your units.
And for the love of Arceus... STOP RANTING ABOUT THE LACK OF VC. What, do you retro purists have nothing else to entertain you? You probably have a sh*tload of VC games anyway, so why do you need even more, huh? Do you have nothing else to entertain you? Just be thankful you have any good VC games at all.
I have a large backlist of VC games I haven't bought yet anyway, so I'm actually glad they stopped for a while.

...oh.
Re: Review: Space Trek (WiiWare)
^It's completely unoriginal, pathetic, and stupid.

@RowdyRodimus:
"Not to mention it's on the Wii so it should get an automatic 7 just for that fact alone."
That's blatant fanboyism right there. It should get a seven for the fact that it's on the Wii? Really? I wonder if you're being serious...
@mariofanatic128: I don't know, actually. I just typed "headdesk gif" on Google images, and it was there.
Re: Review: Space Trek (WiiWare)
@accc: They weren't thinking anything. It takes a really poor excuse of an original mind to think of something so stupid.
Re: Review: Space Trek (WiiWare)
Kid_A's first review also saved someone's money. That's quite an accomplishment on your part.
Re: Review: Space Trek (WiiWare)
Insert some pointless tirade about the WiiWare's influx of shovelware here. Are developers even trying anymore?
