Re: Nintendo Unveils Massive E3 eShop Sale in North America

View92612

@Gold_Ranger Totally agree. It's actually $27 with MyNintendo
discount. However I just bought it pre-owned for the same $27 from Best Buy and it's a physical copy.

The biggest discounts are on the VC games...but looks like the developer for Xenoblade Chronicles and X is not participating.
The extra 10% applies to all first party titles. Still I found better deals from Walmart Wii U pre-owned. Although Walmart has extremely limited stock the prices are unbeatable.

Re: Study Suggests Rising Smartphone Ownership Among Kids Is Hitting Nintendo Hard

@3MonthBeef There is a 3D remake of 1991 Game Boy game Final Fantasy Adventure titled 'Adventures of Mana'.(in Japan it was Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden). And Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2 in Japan). I have the entire Final Fantasy 1-6, Dimension and FF9 on Android. My kids absolutely love FF9 and Dragon Quest 8 on Android. Those are definitely AAA titles in my opinion. And with Google Chromecast one kid can play on the tablet while the other watch the game on the TV... (no lag!) For fremium game they released Kingdom Hearts on Android, it is not as good as the originals but definitely good enough for the price of free with IAPs. I love my Wii U but have no intention to get 3DS at all... My Android phone and tablet are good enough to me. Also, Square Enix has a pretty good mobile only series "Chaos Rings", it is designed and optimized for mobile, that series is quite good, too! Nintendo has a lot to do if they want to stay competitive in this market segment.

Re: Rumour: Details Emerge on Disney Infinity's Canned Future Plans and Cancellation

@YouSeemFRAZZLED
I looked at the Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer and the art style seems to be somewhat similar to Infinity but with more story and contents. It is supposed to come to PC so my kids would finally be able to play it. My kids are like me and they like good stories which the DI series lack. They got bored with DI quickly. As a star wars fan myself I like the single-player Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel a lot more.

Re: Disney Infinity Has Been Cancelled

@RealPoketendoNL I agree. I had Skylanders bundled with my Wii U. It is a lot better in quality with more contents than Infinity. However, my kids are not so interested in those characters. If Infinity had the same quality as Skylanders with Disney characters it would probably have been more successful. But I guess it is too late now.

Re: Disney Infinity Has Been Cancelled

I sold my Disney Infinity 2.0 Wii U figures and game 2 months ago. There were just not a whole lot of contents and the player-made contents were not enough to keep my kids interested. They have much more fun with other Disney Interactive products like Brave and Tangled for Wii. It's sad to see the studio close and people lose jobs though....Disney could have used their skills to create other games that may have more contents. On the other hand, my kids are enjoying Disney characters in Kingdom Hearts for Android by Square Enix. They like it a lot more than Infinity, which is quite expensive with less contents... I think Infinity is more for people who like to explore open worlds even without a lot of contents. However the costs are just too high...Kingdom Hearts is free and supported by IAP..

Re: Square Enix Is Resurrecting A Classic Super Famicom RPG On Mobile Phones

View92612

@Darknyht I get that... though, a lot of those games have been vastly improved from the original SNES versions. To me personally I've gotten all those games technically free as I have a lot of Google Play credits from various promotions as well as the ongoing Google Opinion rewards. Still, I would not pay full prices as the list prices are quite high by mobile game standards. In most cases I've paid about $8 per game....that's about the price of a meal at Mcdonald's...

Re: Square Enix Is Resurrecting A Classic Super Famicom RPG On Mobile Phones

View92612

@Zoda_Fett If you buy at full price it may not seem like a big deal. However Square Enix is a lot more generous with discounts during sales. I got the entire Final Fantasy 1-6, Dimension, Secret of Mana, and Chaos Rings (except the latest) 50% off. Dragon Quest 8 33% off. Final Fantasy 9 20% off (launch discount.) It is far more difficult to get the same % discount from Nintendo eshop! Besides most SQE mobile games are full games with no IAP. They do have a few free mobile games (IAP) like Kingdom Hearts that's insanely popular.

Re: The Legend of Zelda Wii U Has Been Pushed Back to 2017, Will Release On NX As Well

View92612

@starman292 Thanks a lot for the advice. I double checked at ESRB and indeed most Kingdom Hearts games are on PS2 and PS3. Actually the kids are enjoying Kingdom Hearts on Android now. I might as well just keep Wii U and let them play KH on Android. They also still enjoy Skyward Sword a lot. Disney games tend to fairly safe in terms of being kid friendly...I have almost every one of them on Wii/Wii U

@Marshi I picked Wii U over Wii mainly due to Super Mario 3D World but I agree with you that the number of AAA titles is not big on the Wii U (not including AAA Wii games.) I like Nintendo over Sony mainly due to higher numbers of kid-friendly and workout games. I even saved Gamestop trade in credits for the Zelda U so the delay surely is very disappointing. I hope though they would give some discounts at least on Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD during the holidays. Wii U is my first home console purchase but I regret to say that my next home console may be a Playstation. I believe the kids would still be happy with a PS4 and the Kingdom Hearts series instead of Zelda...

Re: Feature: How One Man Saved Kyoto - And Video Games - From The Atomic Bomb

The bombing was a sad story.....Although I'd prefer it never happened, supposedly a city like Kyoto would have had a much larger population back then. So in sparing Kyoto, probably many more lives had been spared. I too visited Kyoto, Osaka and Himeji during honeymoon(Kansai area) and really enjoyed the traditional food and peacefulness there.

Re: Nintendo Announces Separate Hyrule Warriors Season Passes for Wii U and 3DS

View92612

I already traded-in my copy of Hyrule Warriors for Wii U. I will use the credit for the upcoming Wind Waker HD (Nintendo Selects) or the current Twilight Princess HD. Either of those has way more real contents. Hyrule Warriors actually has a lot less story contents compare to most Dynasty Warrior and Samurai Warrior games. It's fun for a month or so but really gets repetitive. I'd rather have a real Zelda for story or even a real DW or SW that have at least more scenarios to play with. More characters without associated story contents won't help. And I would not buy 3DS because I have my phone and tablets that act as hand-held gaming devices. I have the entire Final Fantasy series on those and some more.

Re: Poll: Are You Ready to Download More of Your Retail Games From the eShop?

View92612

I bought only three games so far from the Wii U eshop. All were on sale and I know for sure at least one person in the family would play for many hours. (e.g. Super Mario 3D world) I buy mostly pre-owned games that look/function like new at deeply discounted prices. They may not be the newest but the resale values are good as long as they come in good conditions. I traded in Hyrule Warriors for a few more bucks than what I paid and got almost all of my money back trading in Mario Party 10. It is very risky to buy eshop games due to the refund policy and even worse if I have to pay full price. Steam does it way better than Nintendo. If you don't like a game bought on Steam you can get a full refund within 2 hours of play time. Also Steam has way more sales on older AAA titles.... Also, games bought from eshop cannot be traded-in no matter what.

Re: Hyrule Warriors Legends Secures Third Place in Japanese Charts, With Sales Below Wii U Predecessor

View92612

@Darknyht
I agree. It's just too repetitive and the DLCs do not offer enough new contents to me at least. The only one that adds new missions is the Master Quest DLC. But to me the added missions do not add much more entertainment value. I've played many Dynasty Warriors games (5,7,8) and Skyward Sword. I'd say any of the 4 offers more contents and variety compare to Hyrule Warriors. Actually the main reason I bought HW is that it offers the best Co-Op mode in both series. I don't like the split screen co-op in DW and no co-op is offered in most Zelda games. Contents wise, HW is quite lacking...in comparison. The story is also very weak, too. But that's a very common weakness among Warrior games.
