Between 3DS and Wii U, we can hardly afford all the games we really want. No reason for our family to buy PS4 or XBox. I fill my other gaming needs on the PC, be it Humble Bundle or GOG downloads at great values.

If you have an alternate OS then use it. They need to lock down the OS to provide the best/consistent user experience across the board for any purchased software.
As for the example, the car companies would NEVER allow custom software that controls the engine, breaks, etc... If you did modify an automobiles software you would have no right to sue if anything failed and in turn would, likely, be sued.
You are under no obligation to accept the new agreement and can revert your system to day one specs and use any purchased software that would run on day one specs according to that user agreement you clearly accepted in the past.

Wow, I finally can imagine how SEGA fans felt seeing Sonic on a Nintendo system...dirty. It would be like cheating on Nintendo to play a Zelda game on a PS5 or Mario game on XBOX- whatever the hell number they use next.
Having said that, I have no real fear that would happen. I think Nintendo would shut it all down before they did such a thing. Even if they just skip the next gen for R&D and keep focus on portable.

I was able to do a software update on the Wii U around 5pm est, but no way could I get on the e-shop. Good thing the 2 special edition Luigi 3DS XL systems we got for the kids were pre-loaded with the game. My daughter already played it for a few hours earlier.

I feel bad for all you new owners, but you will be having big fun by this weekend!

Anyone not familiar with the show or the first game is really missing out. There are many episodes on Dailymotion and you should buy the DVD on amazon for proper support. The game is retro-grade challenging and fun to boot!

I like the idea of having something to do while inside during long-cold Maine winters. We are picking up the meters today. I will wear it all day at work and sync it at the end of the day. Nintendo is doing fine and will be strong after the holidays.

Then you'll know it's actually frustrating and fun. I have it on the Wii VC. I like it but I wish there were save states instead, the continue cheat is a bit flaky on the VC.

EA must have a small wiener. It seem to feel very inadequate.

Picked up the special edition as a backup WiiU. Have the original GameCube Windwaker on disk (loved it) but I am interested to see it in HD. Hopefully I can sync the gampad to my other WiiU when they come out with a game that uses multiple gamepads.

I am a big pinball fan and had this on the Game Boy when it first came out, it was a blast. It was by far the best portable pinball at the time and hold up very well today. I picked up a copy at a used games store for a couple bucks a while back and I play it on my SP plenty. It has nice comfortable physics. Highly recommended (9 of 10).

It would be nice of Capcom to include a rebate form for 5-10 bucks for user that have already downloaded it.
I have the original Duck Tales so am happy I used my funds to buy Earthbound.
I will buy Duck Tales at retail, but think how great it would be for Nintendo to do the same with EarthBound and print a mini version of the guide that fits in the WiiU case. I would not gripe and would pay again. Physical copies rule!

GameStop used to be a necessary evil... no longer. The last time I got a new game there they grabbed a case off the shelf and fished out the disk from behind the counter. Is that NEW? I don't care if it has never been played I want it sealed! That was years ago. I only went there to renew my Game Informer and I am over that mag also.

Pikmin will have long steady sales on the Wii u over the next 5 years... most people still don't know it exists. We never had any versions till my wife liked the game built into Nintendo Land. Now she plays the Wii version a ton.

But alas, it will not boost sales ever.

They can charge whatever they want... this is not milk. If I recall EarthBound was available in my area at a cost of $69.99. It was more expensive just like Mortal Kombat II was; $20 more than most SNES games so there is a precedence of the EarthBound being worth a little more.

If they over price something and it sells poorly they can adjust it down, do a special, or sale like we have already seen on the Wii U.

I continue to tire of these stories that make Nintendo look bad/evil on a Nintendo based site!

Great show! I hope the game is good and I'll most likely buy it because my daughter will watch me play all the way through.

Downloaded it on day one and will play it all weekend... Still hope to be lucky enough to find a real copy at a garage sale one day. They are out there in attics and basements somewhere.

I picked up component cables right away and set the Wii to 16x9 and never looked back... why not focus on the system that's out? I love looking back for fun, not to wonder "what ifs." It's kind of futile to second guess a system that sold roughly 100 million units.

Again, I will mention how many Nintendo bashers are on this Nintendo site. I don't waste my time going to Sony's or Microsoft's site to bash them. I prefer Nintendo but all the systems are fine with me. It's not like any of you bashers have built a console.

My wife says the key is "this game" in the answer, and I agree. The answer was slightly tricky in it's phrasing but the question is "What is/was The Legend of Zelda?"

Sounds like the developer has not put the effort into getting it released and it's not Nintendo fault. This is negative headline with no story!!! This site is becoming a Nintendo bashing site instead of Nintendo News. WHY? You folks running this site do realize if you continue to run headlines like this you lose Nintendo fans and you will loose your sites traffic eventually??? The top brass needs to have a meeting and decide the direction of this site.

Real surprise, 80%+ people on the internet think everything is free to use as they wish. The term IP has some meaning.

If this event was making money in any way, including charity, it definitively needs written permission! I'll bet someone is getting a check other than a charity. It is obvious this could have been avoided with written communication from the folks running this event.

Try rebroadcasting a MLB or NFL game for charity without permission. Why is that different folks?

Now it's all hashed out and Nintendo fully understands the situation and they made a good call... but I'll bet it is in writing now.

Whatever... I did not buy a Wii U for EA games. I have it for the 10+ awesome Nintendo games over the next 3-4 years. Simple as that! A few good 3rd party games is a bonus.
On another note, I do not hear Nintendo asking them to make games for the Wii U... I only hear reporters asking. Find a new story lazy reporters.

Only played it at a friend’s house... it was weak! I agree with Miyamoto. I also hated how Y's III tried to match it... just not my style of adventure.

Older Nintendo games on GameCube, Wii, or Wii U is via emulation. This can be recorded as easily as on the PC with a few hundred dollars of equipment.
I love Nintendo but don't back them always... I feel if I buy a digital game from Nintendo I should be able to play them on any system I have registered with them.

GameCenter CX in Japan has to secure the rights or permission to use a game for their broadcast. Why shouldn't you have to on YouTube?

It only goes to legitimize your video. Nintendo is saying you have official Nintendo content. Can anyone knock this theory?

I am getting it today after seeing Arion play it on Retro Game Challenge (youtube it). It looks fun and should be a 6-7. Reviewers seem to have trouble understanding the value of a game to all who may play it. The score should not be solely based on their biased opinion. I will never play Grand Theft Auto but does that mean the game is a 3 out of 10...heck no!

I also have save issues. Almost every time I restart it's back at the start sceen. This is my only VC game with save issues. Yes...I know how to save right and I have downloaded the game a few times now. Anyone else have this trouble too and have now fixed it?
