Honestly, It wasn't the winged shell I disagreed with, it was the handicap that spun me the wrong way.
In MK64, you could get the blue shell even if you were in first (Which was awkwards because now you couldn't use an item) Also, if you were in last, you had a greater chance of getting better items, but you could still get any item at any position/place.
The online was great in the Wii, and this installment seems to be MK Wii + MK DS + better infastructure modes.
With the update coming out, will DLC be possible for the 3DS? I have no doubt in my mind the Vita will have it eventually. I wouldn't mind a retro circuit of every rainbow rode
I'd much rather prefer sales on a regular basis. Steam is a perfect example of an electronic distribution system. Regular sales, price cuts, making a game free for a few days.
Nintendo's still playing catchup in this part simply because they neglect it.
I'd advise people to get this when it comes down to 30$ :/ It's not a bad game by any stretch, in fact it's good. But not good enough to justify the 40$ proce tag they slapped on it. I feel a little ripped off.
Still, helps pass the times on the road and such very well.
I was a little...worried about the voice acting at first. I thought it would be kind of annoying and whatnot. Although I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard the voice acting. It sounded natural, not at all forced.
I got this game when it came out because I didn't really like what the 3DS had to offer. I don't regret it at all.
If you've played the original, I wouldn't pay any more than 20-30$ But if you haven't, this is the game that will hold your attention until SM3DL comes out. It will still hold your attention after SM3DL comes out.
"I guess I should be thankful..." ... Some one had to do it... Anyway, references aside, I really am pleased. I really didn't think it'd do that well to be honest. The whole warhammer 40k (Which is another really awesome series) started in the UK if I'm not mistaken. It's no wonder that game succeeded
Yeah, more NES games would be cool, but I'd only care for the noteworthy ones. Having old games is nice, but I'd just end up playing the new games of today, far more often.
It seems the VC's library is only a fracton of its' audience's size. I'm sure they will start releasing NES games for the 3DS VC, but not for a while. For now, I'll be content with Zelda et Metroid, and soon I'll be content with Mario 3D Land et Mario Kart 7.
What was that company that kept adding to their devices? It was sometime in the 90's...They were Nintendo's main competitor...Gosh the name escapes me...
Sarcasm aside, this makes me really nervous. If first party games use the peripheral, I think I might go back to PC gaming entirely. I know we will get a great game for this, I just don't know if we will get more than that one.
Actually just so we can maybe end the wave of complaints
The game was actually called "Mike Tyson's punch out" They'd have to change the game, and I don't know what Nintendo's rights are on that game. First party only folks.
I'll be downloading all of them. Because we get coins for them at ClubNintendo
I feel like only 3rd party developers would utilise this sort of thing.
The biggest question I have though is how it'll work. The only two slots this system has is the cartridge slot, and a charging port. Unless they plan to stick it in the memory stick space.
@6 I thought Square Enix produced Supreme commander(s). I thought those were pretty good.
Kind of reminds me of world of warcraft. I have a feeling this is going to be a game were it really shines in multiplayer, but not much else. To me that is fine; I'd like a nice multiplayer experience on the 3DS, it keeps the replayability factor high. My biggest fear at this point would be lag though. I hope it's quite minimal.
The tricky part with the metroid series is the storyline. How a game is played will depend largely on the story, which isn't usually a problem for Zelda and Mario titles.
Read about in Nintendo power, hopefully the price tag is acceptable.
@ 12. I concur. I always thought those controls would feel more natural on a hand held. It would have been great if we could have gotten a port of Doom or quake onto the DS. Insane multiplayer potential there.
I'd have like to try the amazing mirror, it sounds like a good game, but the fact it didn't make the cut isn't too much of a downer for me. In fact I'm pretty pleased that SMB 3 advanced was 'cut' I like the NES version, I don't really want a GBA version.
Also, we can begin speculating again as to what games will make the list.
I hadn't made the connection that it will only be first party titles. My apologies. But then again, it instantly filters down what's most likely to be on the list. I'd be perfectly happy with (I think these are first party ones, they're all first in the series) Dragon Warrior Final Fantasy Mach Rider (I have a sneaking suspiscion this will make the list as it was an original launch title) Metroid Lastly, I still want rad racer. Funny thing is, I've heard if you press select while playing on an NES, it goes 3D. Red and blue lines appear, so this also wouldn't surprise me if we got this. If we did, my money's on it being in the THIRD DIMENTION! IT'S LIKE i CAN TOUCH YOU!
NES cartridges are extremely primitive when compared to today's standard. I can't imagine a game with more than like, 50 Kb. Unless they update them of course.
I'm pretty sure that you have a problem storing all of those lovely free games on your system.
Personally I hope they limit it to a 'one game per franchise' thing. I love both zelda 1 and 2, but I don't want both of them, especially if it takes up a slot. Castlevania Dragon Warrior Tetris Contra (Co-op on that game would be godly) Lastly, either a 3D capable Rad racer, or Ninja Gaiden.
@ 27 I don't think that 3 million units moved is that bad considering the launch titles were meager. The only thing happening to Nintendo would be them getting a little embarassed about the whole launch snaffoo. The idea of them pulling the plug on the 3DS is ludicrous. That would cause an uproar, this is nothing. The 3DS is a slow burner, it won't go out for a loooooong time.
@4 I'd buy it if he had a stereotypical british voice, I think Britains awesome! I'd rather have that as opposed to some, awkward, nearly pre-pubecent voice we're gonna get.
@13 I'd have to agree with you. I think most of the 'fans' of the original didn't even have an NES when they were kids.
I think the reason for it being limited for sale in Japan is due to the fact that these guys developed Harvest Moon. That's like the equivalent of Disney making a porn movie, it'd be a bust.
I sort of have that twisty feeling in my stomach right now. I boutght a 3DS, about an hour ago. Thankfully, the futureshop I was at was having some sale and marked the 3DS down to 199.99 for 3-4 days. So on that front I'm glad I saved some money anyway. I am also really looking forward to the NES and GBA titles.
Well I am a bit peeved about still paying an extra 30 bucks for mine, to me 30 dollars isn't that much of a difference. My heart goes out to the early adopters, 80 dollars is (whistles) a lot.
My prevailing opinion though is that now I think Nintendo has a sense of humor. Now the PSP Vita with be 249.99, and the 3DS 169.99. This alone will turn so many people towards good ol Nintendo. Also, if you have an after school/ part time job, you'll make up the difference in no time.
I'm in between evolution and revolution. But not when I look at Nintendo, but when I look at it's competitors. For instance, what will be the next big draw people to buy the PS4? Or Xbox?
