Good review, Drake. I got to experience this game recently on my SNES (and beat it with the good ending in four-five days, including the day I got it), and I've got to say Prince of Persia is a fantastic game. The way the levels are designed, the way the enemies and potions are positioned, and the fact that you're in a forced time limit really makes you think and strategize how you're going to beat the levels. The graphics and animation are superb, the controls take a bit to absorb but are intuitive, and the various music tracks add a lot to the atmosphere, which works for this game. Quickly became one of my favorites on the SNES, despite the difficulty.
I have to be honest, 'cause it's gonna drive me crazy if I don't say anything: I don't know if it's the chosen photo that was used here, or if I've seen other photos of him, but Reggie looks obnoxious to me. He's probably a kind person, I'm sure, but that smirk of his just irks me (imo).
Good review, Thomas. I always loved Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island more than Super Mario World, regardless of whether it was the SNES original or the GBA version. To me it's a very charming game with lots of personality, good intuitive gameplay, fun enemies and bosses to encounter, memorable and fun stage designs, and great visuals (yeah, the GBA version has a lighter color palette than the SNES game did, but it still looks good) and music (yeah, the GBA usually doesn't have high quality sound when it comes to ports of SNES games, but I feel Nintendo pulled it off quite decently here). I always have fun playing it, and I think it's really aged well. Hands down, my favorite 2D Mario and Yoshi game out there.
@StarDust - let me clarify; I admire Mario Pinball Land's visuals (even though they''re starting to show their age), and the soundtrack is decent, plus on paper it seems like a good a idea. But what killed that game for me was the frustration factor, most particularly the battle against Bowser. In fact, forget everything else, that is when things started getting truly frustrating for me. I've tried to defeat Bowser in that game countless times, but I was always irritated at the fact that every time you fell down, you fell straight down into the entrance, and had to start the battle against him all over again. Timing is a crucial issue, I'm aware, but I just gave up trying to beat the game after having lost to Bowser many times. That's not to say I don't like the pinball genre, I do, but Mario Pinball Land falls at the bottom of the list for me. If you, or anyone else for that matter, find the game enjoyable, then I'm okay with that. To each their own.
Much better than the bland, forgettable Mario Pinball Land, imo, this game is really fun, even if there were a few frustrating moments. I liked how this game took its roots from Donkey Kong on the original Game Boy, and the inbetween cutscenes are really nice. Good game.
One of the two instances where I do not at all mind the fact that the Game Boy Advance has an inferior sound chip, the other being The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the GBA, due to how it succeeds, even though it's no SNES sound; and that's saying something, considering I absolutely abhor how the GBA manages to turn a beautiful-sounding SNES soundtrack into a weak-sounding GBA quality soundtrack. But that's my viewpoint on the subject. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is my favorite 2D Mario game as well as my favorite Yoshi game of all time, no matter which format it's in. I've always liked this game more than the original Super Mario World.
Such a little-known Kirby game on the Game Boy Advance, it's a very fun game; had it since the Christmas of '04. It's basically Metroid[vania] meets Kirby, due to its nonlinear nature (making this a very unique Kirby game). This is also the only game where King Dedede doesn't appear, whether as a boss or a playable character. The worlds are fun to explore, and it's fun to venture with three other Kirbies Great game, imo
Good review, Marcel. This is the game that introduced me to BurgerTime back when I was little. Although, before I read your review, I've long thought the original 1982 arcade game was very popular and highly talked about (especially considering it was ported to many consoles), but it's weird for me to find out that it's the opposite. I'm currently playing it at the moment, going to try to beat it (had it for awhile, might as well try), and it's a pretty good follow-up to the arcade original.
Not a great game, imo, but it's decent fun; a lot more manageable than the first NES Adventure Island, that's for certain, and much longer than the first Super Adventure Island Oh, friendly tip to those who sometimes find find themselves in this habit: do not press Select after you've paused the game, otherwise you'll be sent back to the title screen and will have to start over again; it's happened to me a couple times
I liked the original Glover (I've only played the PlayStation version; though I feel like I need to try to original Nintendo 64 version, too, which I looked up was superior to the Sony version). Had Glover 2 been released, I think I would've liked it too. The video footage I just saw was really good: I like how Glover has a few more moves than in the first game (when I saw him turn into a red boxing glove, I was like, "Wow, that's cool!"), and I like how it tried to take after Banjo-Kazooie (in terms of dialogue boxes). It's just too bad that Glover 2 could never be.
The Super Game Boy is one awesome peripheral cartridge, and I use it often whenever I play the classic Game Boy games. Great way to play these games on the big screen.
Good review, Phil. I played the original TwinBee on TwinBee Portable for the PSP (which I imported from Japan weeks ago), and I think it's a good game. Having read how it got the 3D treatment on the 3DS (I don't own one yet) based on your review, it sounds interesting.
This is my favorite first-person RPG, and the only first-person RPG I've played so far (I know, I still need to experience other first-person RPGs, like Dungeon Master, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder, and Obitus). I absolutely love this game. Sure, it's got its issues, but even so, I find myself enjoying it very much. Plus, the soundtrack is spectacular, and I like how the game automatically maps itself, so the chances to get lost would be low. This is also the first game that Kirby appeared in, during a brief portion of the intro.
10. Super Mario World 9. Super Ghouls'n Ghosts 8. Illusion of Gaia 7. Plok 6. Secret of Mana 5. Arcana 4. Equinox: Solstice II 3. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island 2. SoulBlazer 1. The Lost Vikings
Good review, Corbie. I remember having gotten this game many years ago (I still have it). I think the first Super Mario Land is decent, but not great. I do like the shmup stages in both the second and fourth worlds, and the music is good, I agree. I would've given it a 6, but I still think it's cool. It's a bit short, yeah, but fun while it lasts. R.I.P. Gunpei Yokoi. To each their own.

I do concur that The Secret of NIMH and Anastasia are great Don Bluth classics; I haven't seen the original The Land Before Time and All Dogs Go to Heaven in so long.

@MakeMyBiscuit - not in this case
