Good review, Corbie. I enjoyed Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge on the VC. This game sounds fun. I haven't played Bonk III: Bonk's Big Adventure yet. Should I before attempting this game, or does it not matter which order I play it in?
I do agree that Disney's Aladdin on the SNES and The Lion King are good. The former is short, but the latter is hard, but they're both fun in their own way.
I think Super Castlevania IV is a good game. Visually and aurally splendid, and the control is decent. Not the best in the series as it's often touted to be, imo, but it's still fun. I just wish the spikes didn't cause instant deaths (that's normally a big no-no in my book), and I wish it did not have to endure the "Ninja Gaiden Syndrome". But, its second quest (which no one really seems to know about [of all the places you had to make it accessible, Konami, you had to make it be after the credits are finished from the first quest?]) adds a tiny bit of challenge.
Interesting. That second screenshot reminds me of the Power Joy plug'n'play menu screen, where you would play from a choice of several dozen NES and FamiCom titles.
'bout time the second NES Adventure Island title decided to come to the VC (even if it's only to Japan atm). I only played the Game Boy port Adventure Island, though.
I'll still try Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (either SNES original or DS remake) before I play the first game. I always heard that the second game takes place in the events before the first one.
Just to avoid confusion ('cause we don't want that), I only played the SNES original and Game Boy Color port. I don't think I ever played the original Game Boy vesrion of the game; I do have somewhat of a recollection of one of my classmates having it, but I'm not sure.
I notice that there are hearts in the bottom of the screens. Does that mean that you have more health than you do in the original SNES classic, or is it the life count?
IIRC, one of my classmates back in elementary school had this game for the Game Boy. The original SNES game is still topnotch, though the Game Boy Color port is somewhat decent.
Great story, Corbie. Happy 20th anniversary, SuperFamiCom!!!!! And happy 20th anniversary to you, too, Super Mario World, Pilotwings, F-Zero, and ActRaiser!!!

Re: Review: SonSon (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
@Ω - not bad. Looks good.
Re: Review: SonSon (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
@JumpMad - the character's picture you've shown looks a little like Char from Breath of Fire II: The Fated Child (also from the same company).
Re: Ready Yourself for a Super Bonk Attack this Friday
I've just gotta wonder: why is the reptilian king smaller than he is in the previous Bonk games?

Re: Review: SonSon (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
@Ω - this game had a sequel? I never knew that until you mentioned it just now.
Re: Review: SonSon (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
Good review, Brutus. SonSon is all right, not great, but decent. Pirate Ship Higemaru, which came out in the same year, is way better, imo.
Re: Review: Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando (Virtual Console / Virtual Console Arcade)
I concur with Bass, the sequel Mercs is miles better. Commando is okay, just not worth replaying much.
Good review, Brutus.
Re: Ready Yourself for a Super Bonk Attack this Friday
Congrats, Europe/Australia on getting Mario Party 2 on Christmas Eve.
Re: This Safe Sex Video Owes a Surprising Amount to Mario and Mega Man
I'm surprised this is on a family friendly site like Nintendo life.
My thoughts exactly, Tony; that's how wrong it is!
Users of all ages visit this site!!!
Re: This Safe Sex Video Owes a Surprising Amount to Mario and Mega Man
I have no words for this.
Re: Ready Yourself for a Super Bonk Attack this Friday
Is it as good as Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge, or not as good? I'm interested in Super Bonk.
Re: Review: The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie (Super Nintendo)
@Sabrewing - not everyone got a chance to experience Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse, though (myself included).
Re: Review: The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie (Super Nintendo)
I looked up that this game was also ported to the MegaDrive.

Re: Review: The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie (Super Nintendo)
Good review, Besen. Sounds real interesting.
Re: Mickey Mousecapade
From what I've looked up, this game sounds like fun.

Re: Review: Faxanadu (Virtual Console / NES)
@FaxanaduGuy - I've commented on your Faxanadu II page (I have a deviantART account, too, under StarBoy91). Good job.
Re: Review: Pyoro (DSiWare)
Fantastic review, NintendoBuddy.
Re: Review: Paper Plane (DSiWare)
Great review, NintendoBuddy.
Re: Review: Faxanadu (Virtual Console / NES)
Judging from the review, it sounds like Faxanadu is a tad longer than Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for the SNES.
Re: Review: Faxanadu (Virtual Console / NES)
Good review, Drake.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console List - December 2010
'bout time the second NES Adventure Island title decided to come to the VC (even if it's only to Japan atm). I only played the Game Boy port Adventure Island, though.
Re: Faxanadu
Hi, Retrogamer88, welcome to NintendoLife.
Re: Review: Donkey Kong Land (Game Boy)
Good review, Dave.
Re: Taito's Trademark Applications Suggest the Return of SNES Titles
I'll still try Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals (either SNES original or DS remake) before I play the first game. I always heard that the second game takes place in the events before the first one.
Re: Uniracers
No, you're not, deegan. This game isn't expensive on eBay, and I do hope to experience it someday. I've been interested in the game for years.
Re: Taito's Trademark Applications Suggest the Return of SNES Titles
Ah, nice nomenclature, mariofanatic.
Re: Taito's Trademark Applications Suggest the Return of SNES Titles
@oldgamesonly - no Puzzle Bobble series?
Re: Taito's Trademark Applications Suggest the Return of SNES Titles
It's nice to see that Taito is supporting the VC.
They're also well-known for making the very fun Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble titles.

Re: Radiant Historia is Waiting for You in February 2011
Oh, man. I am very interested.
Re: Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary is 50Hz Only
Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that. I feel bad for Europe and Australia.
Re: Feature: Celebrating Super Famicom's 20th Anniversary
Hi, JustanotherGamer, welcome to NintendoLife.
I'm sorry to hear about your SNES console being stolen, Tasuki.
Re: Feature: Celebrating Super Famicom's 20th Anniversary
Illusion of Gaia was released in Japan. The other two you mentioned weren't.
Re: Feature: Celebrating Super Famicom's 20th Anniversary
Great story, Corbie.
Happy 20th anniversary, SuperFamiCom!!!!! And happy 20th anniversary to you, too, Super Mario World, Pilotwings, F-Zero, and ActRaiser!!!
Re: Magical Drop III
The first Magical Drop never got ported to the Neo Geo. I do know that it was ported to the Super FamiCom, but only in Japan.
Re: Magical Drop III
I think it's a good puzzle game, though I prefer Bust-A-Move.
Re: Podcast: NLFM Episode 10: Fear Your Tears
Nice job, Shiryu.
Re: Review: Spin Master (Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
It might just be me, but this review was almost as short as the Ecco Jr. one. Either way, another good and quick review you made, Drake.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (Europe)
Nice avatar, Corbie.
And Spin Master looks nice.
Re: Review: Super E.D.F. Earth Defense Force (Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
Hey, Pokeman, welcome to NintendoLife.
Re: Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World
Yes, I too liked the leverage to save whenever you could in the port, instead of just after you beat the switch, mansion, fortress, and castle stages.
Re: Competition Winners: Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary
I wonder if Link-Hero knows that he won?
Again, congrats, everyone.
Re: Six Capcom Arcade Classics Launching on VC this Winter
SonSon is all right, but I prefer Pirate Ship Higemaru.
Re: Review: The Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt (Super Nintendo)
Again, Jamie, great review.
I got this game today in the mail. So far it's quite good, and challenging.
Re: Six Capcom Arcade Classics Launching on VC this Winter
@Banana_Jane - true, but the compilations were never released on Nintendo consoles. Not everyone owns a PlayStation 2, a PSP, or an XBox.
My personal Top 4 for best G'nG titles are:
4. Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins
3. Ghosts'n Goblins
2. Ghouls'n Ghosts
1. Super Ghouls'n Ghosts
Re: Super Mario Bros. 25th Anniversary Contest Winners
Congrats, y'all! Out of the list, I recognize a few users.
