Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Continues to Shift Its Third-Party Focus to Nindies

RogueSpyke

I seem to be the only one out there who does this but I tend to focus on indies more than I do AAA third-party games. I mean, I do want a PS4 to play games like Mortal Kombat X, The Witcher 3, and Bloodborne but I'm perfectly happy just getting indie games and other digital games on my Wii U. Games like Shovel Knight, Don't Starve, Stealth Inc. 2, and Thomas Was Alone are games I play and enjoy more than even the Nintendo games I own on the Wii U.

Aside from like three of my friends, I seem to be the only one who cares more about upcoming indie games than I do upcoming AAA games.

Re: Humble Nindie Bundle Sells Over 37,000 Units in Just 24 Hours

RogueSpyke

I would have bought the full bundle but I already owned every game in the bundle aside from Guacamelee (most of my game money goes towards my 3DS and Wii U) so I paid $1 to get Guacamelee. Depending on what the future games are I may just buy the whole bundle and give away the extra codes.

Also I find it hilarious that one of the mods here has Tommy Wiseau as his username.

@Quorthon

Actually as it turns out if you compare the install base of the Wii U to that of the PS3 and 360, Bayonetta 2 did in fact out-perform the first game. You CANNOT use sales numbers BY THEMSELVES as proof of a game performing well when one game is on less platforms. Given that the Wii U's install base at the time of Bayonetta 2's release was 1/10th the install base of the PS3 and 360 at the time of the original's release, the fact that Bayonetta 2 is selling a little over 1/10th the sales of the original makes sense, in fact it's a good sign because the proportion of sales is close to the same.

@Quorthon You're wrong about many things but the main thing you're wrong about is that a LOT of people buy Nintendo consoles solely as Nintendo machines. I can atest to that because literally everyone at my old high school had a Wii and another console and the only Wii games they owned were the common Nintendo games. They put most of their money into their Xbox 360s or PS3s (and PCs in a handful of cases).

In fact, most people who have bought a Wii U literally bought it BECAUSE it's the only console with worthwhile exclusives, anything else they can get somewhere else.

I dunno where people are getting that third-parties don't sell well on Nintendo platforms because Nintendo fans don't buy third-party, because that's clearly bull. The REAL reason why many third-party games don't do well on Nintendo consoles is because most publishers choose to not market the Nintendo versions or it becomes evident that they didn't put any effort into the porting of the games. Most people I talk to who own a Wii U say that the reason why they don't buy many non-Nintendo games on the Wii U is because in most cases, another platform has a better version. A good example of that would be something like Assassin's Creed IV. It's a well-known fact that the Wii U version is a horrible port, so why even get it in the first place? Publishers use baffling excuses as reasons why they won't release games for Wii U and refuse to accept responsibility for bad porting or just bad games in general.

Re: Review: The Fall (Wii U eShop)

I like the game so far (voice acting's also fine for me) but for some reason when I was playing the game, half the voice acting/sounds were missing and whenever there wasn't voice acting, the text would skip immediately and I couldn't read it.

Re: Feature: Five Nintendo 64 Games We'd Love to Play on 3DS

RogueSpyke

@FragRed Well, most of Rare's games on the N64 were published by Nintendo, and since those IPs are now owned by Microsoft (except Goldeneye, which Activision owns) there's no chance of them hitting a Nintendo console. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron was only omitted because Disney closed LucasArts and seems to not be interested in producing many games outside of mobile games.

My choices were pretty much wishful thinking since Body Harvest is now owned by Rockstar and they seem to have forgotten that they own the IP (which is a shame since it's what they used to test concepts for Grand Theft Auto III).

Re: Reaction: Pokémon Shuffle Isn't Quite Microtransaction Hell, But It's Getting There

@TeeJay If you want free-to-play done right, play Path of Exile on Steam. The only things you can buy in the game are vanity items that give you no advantage, instead they change the appearance of weapons and armor. You can also buy extra character slots (though you start with 24), extra stash tabs (though you start with 8), and guild stash tabs (you don't start with any). It's probably the best example of a free-to-play game.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'

RogueSpyke

Honestly I don't see how this is really that big of a deal. Technically speaking, Nintendo owns the content in their games and has every right to do this, it's not their fault they're the first to take advantage of this. Honestly though, I'd rather be on Nintendo's good side since I plan on doing stuff on Nintendo's platforms.

And this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I never plan on monetizing my videos :V
