Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Been Updated To Version 2.2.1, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

RogueSpyke

@Anti-Matter
1.) Because it's still the best-selling Mario Kart game and from a business standpoint it makes more sense to add a sequel's worth of DLC to not split the audience with a sequel
2.) Because development likely started in 2020 and developing a sequel's worth of tracks takes time. It's not simple to make tracks for a game and they're tying it to Mario Kart Tour, which is splitting the development a bit to keep both games in line with each other
3.) That is quite literally how every physical game with DLC works. While I agree the server issue is something to consider, this is how games have operated for years and if you didn't have this problem with Mario Kart 8 originally (which got DLC), then you have no reason to have it again with Deluxe.

Re: Soapbox: Free Game Updates Are Fantastic For Everyone, Except New Players

RogueSpyke

@moodycat God while I can't think of any specific names, there's been a few times I've been overwhelmed when playing some RPGs because rather than guiding me through mechanics and explaining along the way, they textwall all of the information before I use the mechanic and I almost always immediately forget what I was just told. I can only process so much information at once before I just zone out.

Re: Soapbox: Free Game Updates Are Fantastic For Everyone, Except New Players

RogueSpyke

Totally understandable. One of Warframe's problems is that most of the content updates only affect returning players and not newcomers, and Warframe already has an issue with in-game documentation (the wiki is far more reliable than the game itself).

The other side of the coin though is changes to benefit newcomers don't usually benefit endgame players, which is also a reasonable complaint. There's a balance that needs to be made between new and returning players when it comes to updates and I honestly can't think of a single game that manages to do that.

Re: Jaleco Action Game 'Pop Flamer' Joins Hamster's Arcade Archives Collection

RogueSpyke

Jaleco's games can be really hit or miss but I can't deny there's some unique games from them even if they're not always great. I think The Ignition Factor is probably my favorite from them because there aren't many decent games about being a firefighter

EDIT: Just want to add I'm still surprised a few of the Arcade Archives games that came out on PS4 before the Switch released like the original Bubble Bobble haven't found their way to Switch yet

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life eShop Selects - August 2021

RogueSpyke

I am very surprised and disappointed that Nintendo Life hasn't commented at all on Fuga: Melodies of Steel's release. It's in the same series as Tail Concerto and Solatorobo: Red The Hunter, and from the same developer as the .hack games. I really wish it was getting more attention

Re: Poll: Why Do You Collect Video Games?

RogueSpyke

I collect games I want to play, which just happens to be a lot of games. There are a few games I've collected more or less just to have, but those are mostly odd console/handheld ports of other games, like how I have the GBC version of Rayman just because it's unique compared to every other version.
I do sometimes go for physical releases from Limited Run Games, but I only do that for games I really love and want physical copies of. It's also nice to have physical copies of some games so in the off chance a voice actor shows up at a local convention I can get a game signed, which I have done for Fire Emblem Awakening, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and the original NieR.

Re: Winds Of Change Is The "Ultimate Furry Tale" Coming To Switch This June

RogueSpyke

@russell-marlow I never said it was exclusive, I said that they get hired because of it. Many furry artists are also artists for games, comics, cartoons, and even films, they just happen to do freelance on the side. One of the more popular furry artists recently revealed she was an environmental artist for the Halo games.

Also as the old joke goes, the difference between furries and bronies is most furries have jobs.

Re: Winds Of Change Is The "Ultimate Furry Tale" Coming To Switch This June

RogueSpyke

@russell-marlow I've done this song and dance several times. Furries aren't as bad as you think they are and any bad apples in the fandom are quickly pushed out. Furries have also donated to many animal hospitals, shelters, and charities, which is actually where most of the proceeds of furry conventions go to. And you'll probably find out that many of your favorite games and cartoons have furries as key members of the team given how many furries are good with computers, not to mention the obvious advantage of being good with art and animating.

The furry fandom is a very broad fandom and attracts people from all walks of life, so it isn't unusual for some weirdos to flock to it too, but the ratio isn't as big as you probably think it is.

I also want to point out that some of the nicest people I've ever talked to have been furries, while some of the absolute worst people I've interacted with have been anime fans and gamers.

Re: Winds Of Change Is The "Ultimate Furry Tale" Coming To Switch This June

RogueSpyke

@russell-marlow Considering I am actually a furry, and have been for a whole decade, interact with furries, have visited furry sites, hang out in furry communities, and have followed trends in the fandom, I think if anyone out of the three of us knows anything about furries, it'd be me.

Which is also why I know you're full of crap and have no idea what you're talking about.

Re: Winds Of Change Is The "Ultimate Furry Tale" Coming To Switch This June

RogueSpyke

@russell-marlow If you think being into furry art and beastiality are the same thing then I think we found the problem. What you are talking about is animal cruelty, and if there's anything furries hate, it's animal cruelty. Furry characters in relationships is also actually no different than relationship with elves, orcs, or aliens in other media, and some media like The Elder Scrolls make it explicitly clear that races like the Argonians and Khajit are not animals and are very much people like the other races.
