@METROIDDREAD to be fair thats true i have no real evidence that it will be great but honestly, even if it's half as good as Hollow Knight, it'll still be great.
But yeah that is true, that's not an assumption i should make based on previous reputation.
@Alpha008 it just seems like this site constantly gives a free pass to all Nintendo first party games. Like Nintendo are slipping them money to do it.
Doesn't matter how bad the game maybe.
Famitsu gives this game a reasonable score of 33 out of 40 and these guys are all up in arms about it, like a golf game is gonna get 40 out of 40 just because Nintendo made it.
@BloodNinja i get that and I'm a straight talker too. But you need to understand that others won't be as thick skinned, they will get insulted.
You are able to get your point across a lot better without calling them brainwashed.
But i agree on the whole, people will defend Nintendo's right to sell Cardboard for $90 and call it good value for money because Nintendo's logo is on it.
It's really eye opening how brand loyalty can have an adverse effect on people's ability to see being the corporate BS and realise they've been duped.
But try not calling them brainwashed, because thats how arguments start.
@BloodNinja that's fine bro, but come on man, don't call people brainwashed just because their value of worth to themselves doesn't align with your own. It's very insulting.
It's more prudent to present an argument to others in a more reasonable way, without the need for insults.
I agree with much of what you've said here, but it would be better if you didn't insult them for their preferences.
@westman98 he does raise some good points, have you watched the Tree House segment on it? I wouldn’t agree with calling people Brainwashed though, that isn't correct.
But he's not wrong in saying that even those who were trying the game didn't sound too excited about it.
It's very clear that there is a high % of people who purely buy games because it has a Nintendo logo on it. Take @kurtasbestos for example, who literally just said "I'm okay with spending a normal price on Metroid Dread, and I will totally get my money's worth. Just like I did with BotW, which I STILL haven't played!"
Now i have no issue with this and to each their own. But how are you gonna get your moneys worth from a game that you still haven't played?
It's that level of brand loyalty that i find astonishing. I wouldn't call him brainwashed, everyone's value of worth is different. For him, it seems totally worth it to spend money on a Nintendo game he has never played and say that he got money's worth.
Like i said, to each their own and @BloodNinja needs to chill on calling anyone Brainwashed, but it isn't like he hasn't made some good points (aside from calling anyone brainwashed, there's no good points in insulting others like that)
But his reasoning for not liking what he sees, sounds more reasonable to me than someone who says they got their money's worth from a game they haven't played.
@Ralek85 Yes i 100% agree that Hollow Knight was severely under priced, i would be willing to pay $80 for Silk Song, but thats because i know it'll be great. Also my favourite 2d game.
I genuinely thought New Super Mario Bros U was insanely over priced, i mean they released the game for $50 some 6 years before they put it on the Switch.
So it was an old port with minor improvements at a higher price point than when they released it on the Wii U.
But many kids tend to buy everything with a Mario face on it. My 8 year old nephew for example, will grab everything Mario and Pokemon related, won't play for more than 5 hours lol.
I also like Racing games FPS games Love me some NBA 2k (shhhhh its my guilty pleasure) Beat em ups too Loving Monster Hunter rise right now Played Ori 1, great game but a little short, i have Ori 2 on the back burner.
And yes best to hold off on Dread till you know whats up imo, but how you value worth is entirely up to you.
Personally for me i need a $60 game to at least give me 40 hours worth of content, it would make it the longest 2D Metroid ever made, i hope they do it but i have my doubts.
@Azuris well it seems it isn't even Nintendo who are responsible.
Although they seriously need to get on HAL's case about it. If they are responsible for maintaining the Switch OS. They're not doing a great job at all.
@iuli "things don’t work too good, ha!, let’s throw another Switch Pro ‘news’, everyone will bite! (We do!)."
Yeah im done with all that, it's been flogged past death at this point.
I gave up believing in a Switch Pro at the beginning of this year, i figured if they were working on it, they'd probably have released it by that point.
I suspect that by September-November 2023 we'll get a new Nintendo console, which is generally in line with their time scale on all their consoles.
Releasing a Switch Pro now wouldn't really make much difference anymore.
But had the pandemic not happened, Nintendo would have been in serious trouble by now.
If not for the Pandemic/scalpers/chip shortages, i genuinely believe that both Sony and Microsoft would have swept Nintendo away during the last holiday season in every territory outside of Japan.
Under those circumstances, Nintendo would have definitely needed a Switch Pro to entice 3rd parties to continue their support.
Yes i like my open world experiences, being able to craft my own adventure and not follow a linear path laid out for me appeals a lot to me.
Don't get me wrong though, just because those are my favourite games, doesn't mean i don't have a large list of others games i play.
I love Metroidvania games too, but quite frankly there is too many options available for me at a fraction of this price, to even consider buying this game.
Having given it some thought, the most I'd be willing to pay is $20 for this game.
@Gamepro500 no hard feelings though man, misunderstandings are common place on the Internet 🙂.
Edit: the rest of that comment was for you to read though, not sure if you agree with the CEO statement, I'd imagine that might get me some flak on this site but hay ho.
@Gamepro500 yeah i didn't even respond to @Hooty, i found that comment very offensive, so i just reported it.
To be fair i had no idea the game was in development that long and had just been pushed aside repeatedly.
It actually should have originally been released on the original DS. And had it been released on the DS it would have cost only $40.
But then again, i also realised that they released Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on the Wii U for $50.
Then 5 years later they released the same game with minor improvements for $60.
It seems after the failure of the Wii U and the success of the Switch, Nintendo have become quite anti-consumer in many of their practices, not sure what caused the sudden shift but I'd warrant a guess at the new CEO who came in a few years ago.
@bagajr a 10-15 hour game is not better value for money than 3 of Mario's best games in one.
It doesn't matter how you try and spin that, i wasn't a fan of the 3D all Star Mario game but honestly, each game comes in at $20 each and each game has 10 times as much content as Metroid Dread will have.
Unless they decide to make Metroid a 100 hour game in the same breed as Dead Cells or Hollow Knight. Which they won't judging by what little i saw on the Tree House gameplay section.
This didn't look like a game i would even remotely be interested in, but i can see many are and it seems a fair few are annoyed by the graphical change as it diminishes the charm of the original.
So i hope for their sake, they at least could include the original games with this as well.
I guess these cloud games must be selling somewhere? Right?
I don't actually know of a single person who has played any of these cloud games, but i can't pretend to know 70m Switch users (factoring in people who own 2).
So they have to be doing well? Are there numbers to indicate any of this?
I would genuinely be interested to find out how much exposure these cloud games get on the Switch.
@EriXz might be an issue with the game? Shame we don't live close by, I'd actually let you try my copy to see if it still does that.
But yeah I'd certainly consider changing it regardless (if the issue is indeed, with the Switch), surely it's only a matter of time before it starts to happen with your other games.
I don't mean to scare you though, hopefully its just the game and not the console itself.
@Mr-Fuggles777 Yeah i won't buy it. Like @CactusMan just said, you could buy 3 or 4 of these games for the same price that Nintendo are charging for Metroid Dread.
@checkr911 lmfao... that's so hilarious, because i have yet to play a single Metroid game that i considering to be anywhere close to decent. Let alone good.
Your point about Witcher 3 is totally subjective because to me, Witcher 3 is better than ANYTHING that Nintendo have made for the last 40 years.
I literally consider Witcher 3 to be better than ALL of Nintendo's entire library of games.
So yeah your point doesn't chime with me at all.
Not even a little.
Edit: my top 4 games
1 Witcher 3
2 Skyrim
3 Oblivion
4 BOTW
Then after Botw Nintendo doesn't feature in my top 10 at all.
Question for everyone: how well do you think these games would have done if they cost $60 on release?
Do you think those games would have gotten the same exposure that they got, if they released for $60... by unknown Indie Developers?
Example of brand power at work:
Sneakers 1: made by an unknown company who makes very good quality sneakers
Sneakers 2: made by Nike, the Jordan line.
Both companies use EXACTLY the same method to make their shoes. The only difference being the logo and the Nike iconic Jordan logo.
The unknown company charges $40 for the shoes.
Nike charges 150$.
What do everyone think they would be paying that additional $110 for?
People are paying for the brand... it's the same as Nintendo charging $60 for a game that an unknown Indie developer wouldn't DARE charge more than $20 for.

Re: Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Ender Lilies Launches On Switch Today
@Scrubicius Just because i don't think it's good for Nintendo to charge $60 for what would essentially be a DS game, doesn't make me ungrateful.
Let's be realistic here, if Nintendo still supported the 3DS, this would be on there for $40.
Look at it another way.
I can get Hollow Knight, Hades and Dead Cells for the price they are asking me to pay for one Metroid game.
If you think that's a great deal, then you can enjoy yourself, but it doesn't make me ungrateful for thinking it's a bad deal.
Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Will Have "Various Quality-Of-Life Enhancements", Nintendo Says
Still not sure, I'll wait for reviews, i couldn't get into the original on the Wii, hated the controls, id play this in portable if its good.
Re: Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Ender Lilies Launches On Switch Today
@Preposterous Hollow Knight definitely has become the benchmark.
Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Nintendo Appears To Have Fixed Issue Related To Update 12.0.3
@RiasGremory how do you know the Switch 2 is around the corner?
And how do you know they will fix the issue?
Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Nintendo Appears To Have Fixed Issue Related To Update 12.0.3
@Rpg-lover bro give me details, does it work okay? No issues with firmware?
Give me the low down, im gonna get this.
Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Nintendo Appears To Have Fixed Issue Related To Update 12.0.3
@Rpg-lover omg i want this!!!
Re: Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Ender Lilies Launches On Switch Today
@Friendly I've read that and posted a lot on it.
And i don't agree with the article.
You know, when you need to be convinced that the game is the right price by an article, it means the price isn't right.
Re: Dark Fantasy Metroidvania Ender Lilies Launches On Switch Today
Looks interesting and reasonably priced, or rather, the right price for Metroidvania games these days.... might give this a go.
Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Nintendo Appears To Have Fixed Issue Related To Update 12.0.3
@Rpg-lover yeah i use 3rd party too.
Hori at least has a clue.
The PDP one is great too, i use Hori for the joy cons and PDP for pro con.

Re: Random: Did You Know EarthBound Creator Shigesato Itoi Had A Starring Role In My Neighbor Totoro?
One of the best animated films ever made by the best animation company in the world.
Didn't know this.
Re: Switch Error Code 2123-1502 - Nintendo Appears To Have Fixed Issue Related To Update 12.0.3
@Rpg-lover calling Nintendo incompetent for this, their Joy Cons or any number of ridiculous issues they've had is not harsh at all.
In fact i would say that calling them incompetent doesn't even go far enough.
The fact that they haven't fixed the joy cons and continue to pump out faulty products is a straight up scam.
Re: The First Review For Mario Golf: Super Rush Is Now In
@Alpha008 i dunno, maybe I'm just taking too much offence at them being petty and pointing how a golf game on the 3DS scored slightly better.
It's probably just me taking too much exception to them pointing it out.

@Alpha008 apparently not good enough for this website?
I wonder if this site is actually paid by Nintendo directly? It definitely seems like it.
Re: The First Review For Mario Golf: Super Rush Is Now In
Was everyone expecting a 10 out of 10 or something?
34 out of 40 is a great score.
Id have given it a 7 out of 10, because golf.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60
@Gamepro500 i so badly want Nintendo to reboot F-zero.
Give us customisation options, upgrading cars, maybe a story mode and online multiplayer.
Game would shift 10m+ easily.

Re: Reminder: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Expansion Pass - Wave 1 Is Now Available
@Dirty0814 lol just because i didn't buy it doesn't mean i haven't played it to completion.
I have, with my brother when he bought it.
And no it doesn't run well, at all. It's easily the worst performing first party Nintendo game on the Switch, by a very large margin.

@Ralek85 lol i know you were being sarcastic.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60
@AlleywayBrawler you're right, Hollow Knight isn't in the same league as Metroid.
Hollow Knight is light years ahead in every conceivable way compared to every single 2d Metroid game ever made.
Re: There's A New Update Available For Stardew Valley On Nintendo Switch
@anoyonmus i was going to say the same thing but i had to think for a moment.
It isn't actually Nintendo who updated this game, it was the developers responsible for making it in the first place.
They obviously implemented the update and rolled it out on all platforms.
But the error code is for Nintendo to fix.
Edit: which is why i just pointed out the error code is still there, didn't mention anything about them fixing it, as it isn't their issue to fix.
Re: Video: Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Switch Vs. GBA Comparison
This didn't look like a game i would even remotely be interested in, but i can see many are and it seems a fair few are annoyed by the graphical change as it diminishes the charm of the original.
So i hope for their sake, they at least could include the original games with this as well.
Re: There's A New Update Available For Stardew Valley On Nintendo Switch

Time to whip out the old Error code 2123-1502.

Re: Doug Bowser Responds To Reports About "Upgraded Switch Replacement" (Again)
@HamatoYoshi Okay you stop right there Mr,
Saying Santa Clause isn't real is like saying Big Foot doesn't exist, or theres no Tooth Fairy.
And we all know they do exist.
So just take that back... take it back i say!!!
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games
@COVIDberry "That kind of pricing does not place Metroid, Yoshi and other worthy franchises in the best possible position to succeed."
This is literally my main concern, this game is not priced reasonably and it'll effect the sales figures for the game.
This game could easily sell 5m+ copies if it was priced between 20$-30$.
With a $60 price tag I'd be surprised if it sells 2m. I actually want this franchise to do well.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games
@Mr-Fuggles777 Yeah i won't buy it. Like @CactusMan just said, you could buy 3 or 4 of these games for the same price that Nintendo are charging for Metroid Dread.
I just won't be able to fully justify a purchase.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 19th)
Probably just Monster Hunter Rise.
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games
@COVIDberry yeah your sarcasm flew well over my head.
I'll untag you from my comment and alter it so it doesn't look like I'm directing it at anyone in particular.
My bad man.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Metroidvania Games
Thats what they call "brand power".
Re: Hideki Kamiya Shares Irritation At Speculation Over Bayonetta 3
@COVIDberry well who do you think made that gameplay trailer for Nintendo to showcase?
Use your common sense buddy.
Can't be that hard to figure out.
Can it?
Re: Hideki Kamiya Shares Irritation At Speculation Over Bayonetta 3
@COVIDberry this part is quoted from my own above post.
Seems you didn't read it before typing this dribble.
"It's definitely Nintendo's fault that it was announced so early but i think going forward, the lack of news related to the game is on Platinum."
Before you decide to bundle everyone up in one line. Read everything they wrote.
I never said Platinum announced the game. I put that on Nintendo.
The irony of the last bit of your comment is unreal, you talk about "investigations" - but you didn't even read all of ours posts.
🤣🤣
Re: Doug Bowser Responds To Reports About "Upgraded Switch Replacement" (Again)
@EriXz that really doesn't sound good, I'd probably consider replacing that regardless.
Your Switch certainly shouldn't be overheating and shutting down.
