@markybbop Handhelds are top-dog in Japan, which is Monster Hunter's biggest market as well. Need I say more? They don't really need a console Monster Hunter, the only reason to make one is for the west, where its niche to begin with so it won't see a huge boost.

People do tend to 'cheap out' if you will when buying things for kids, they either don't know the difference themselves or don't think the kids will need it.
Digital distribution is a lot bigger than it was even 5yrs ago, I've even had (non-gamer) relatives ask why I don't just download it when buying them on-disk. Nintendo has been pushing it a lot, with most bundles having digital copies now. If they want people buying digital then making sure HDD space isn't a barrier is important.
While what you say about the 360 is true, both of the other consoles have 500GB standard, as does the latest PS3 models. Your also using over-priced proprietary HDDs and cheaper referbs as a reason to not have one pre-installed, when my point is if the didn't use expesive flash memory they could have had much more storage for the same price. It wouldn't be an extra expense.
I'm also didn't say size isn't an issue (remember the original Xbox?), but the Wii U's size isn't. Even if they doubled its size it'd still be much smaller than the other consoles. Heck, I'm pretty sure it'd be half the size of the Gamecube still.
@Ryu_Niiyama Back when they first launched, 60-80GBs was a fair bit of space, especially for just partial installs and little downloadable games. Now a days 500GB is considered standard. Thats why they went through several storage increases, storage sizes increased and HDDs became cheaper.
A 64GB SSD is $50-60 vs. a 500GB-1TB HDD for about the same price. Cost isn't the issue, if it was they wouldn't even go with flash storage. They wanted the smallest console they could make, "something mom wouldn't mind having in the living room" were their words exactly. They could have used 2.5" HDDs without much issue.
@Roadkill409 Finally, who someone gets it. Most people don't want to fill up their cart with a bunch of extras to make things work, especially when they're already spending $300 or more on it. All you have to do is look at external HDDs to see how much that "cheaper" console will actually cost you.
@Zodiak13 Thats why I said most fans. Its become a pattern though, the fanbase hypes up all these (usually) under-rated gems but they don't sell that well. Rune Factory and Monster Hunter seem to be the exception.
It could be too that these games are too niche for the hype to really matter, but even "bad" Nintendo games like Star Fox Adventures beat them so something just doesn't add up.
@sinalefa Too late, I've already seen people hate Aonuma for "ruining" Zelda. These are probably the same people who hate Hyrule Warriors for not being a "real" Zelda.
Not kidding about that either, people are actually mad that a spin-off isn't giving them what "they want" from a Zelda game.
@Action51
Rune Factory has actually been doing better each installment, so I don't think Nintendo fans are ignoring it. Part of the world also didn't actually get the latest one either.
Your point still stands though and I agree with it, including Mr William's movies. Most Nintendo fans aren't actually much better than anyone else buying sequels, remakes, and "rehashes". I can't help but wonder how many people will actually go out and buy Bayonetta 2, sure people like to tote it around as an exclusive, but so too was Wonderful 101.
I'm sure they're just waiting until VR starts to catch on and the kinks are worked out, if they aren't toying with it already and just being really tight-lipped about it.
The thing is at least for now Occulus is focused on PCs, so that will limit its audience to mainly PC gamers and enthusiasts that can use it for a while. Most people won't have a PC that can handle playing games on it, nothing AAA at least, and they certainly won't want to build one for it. Maybe Steam Machines could be the solution, but the good ones will still cost a pretty penny, on top of buying the occulus itself. Same goes for any VR build for PCs.
I don't think many people would see VR as a family thing either, which is a big part of Nintendo's demographic right there.
@Shambo I don't think thats wolf Link, at least technically its not. It looks like a shadow creature stand-in for him, look at his eyes. I guess they don't want more than one Link in the game even if its basically a cameo.
I'm sticking with last gen for now, I've been keeping an eye on the Wii U and PS4 but so far nothing about them has made me feel like I have to run out and spend several hundred dollars on a new machine and games when theres still plenty of games left to be 'discovered' still. I'm also perfectly content with my 3DS as it is.
I'm sure plenty of the 241million people who didn't upgrade their console feel the same. These things aren't cheap and they don't have much the last gen consoles don't yet. Is a next-gen port of GTA V or Assassin's Creed worth $460+tax? Is there something stopping me from buying the current big exclusives later when I feel like it?
That joke about Link was actually scary accurate coming from Conan, considering Ocarina of Time's opening.
As for people getting bent out of shape over this, its Conan, this is what he does. Nintendo gave him the demo knowing that. Think about that a moment, Nintendo doesn't care, so why do you?
@DerpSandwich I think we both know "oh" wouldn't be the end of it. People would just harp about the Wii U being unable to do yet another thing the other consoles can.
I really don't get this kind of PR though, where apparently seeming behind and out of touch is better than admitting the truth. Although for Nintendo the truth is likely far worse from a PR standpoint, and can only be sugarcoated.
The only thing I disagree with is the end. You don't need special new controllers or what have you to create new/unique ideas, so claiming the other platforms only bring "prettier pictures and faster processors" is shortsighted and steps on their own toes as well. Thats the industry's fault, not the platforms'.
They can certainly help though, I can't imagine the floating parts of SMG working without pointer controls for example.
I don't think removing the gamepad would help much. It won't lower the price much and if the Gamepad is a problem bundling in a pro controller or some other alternative as a standard feature would work better. It solves the 'stuck' with the gamepad issue, allows out of the box multiplayer, and wouldn't cost them much. The mark-up on accessories is high, if I remember right the DS4 costs around half it's MSRP to make or less, the Pro controller is likely the same.
Not really excited over any of them, but I've got coins expiring soon so its use 'em or lose 'em. So I'll probably get Kirby's Dreamland if i don't just splurge on a big item, I already have the Mario Party 2 otherwise I'd get that.
@Kaze_Memaryu We don't know if thats the only reason they decided to remake them. Yea, sales had some role, but they were also next in line cronologically for a remake, and so far they seem to be putting some effort into them. Gamefreak doesn't do straight-up bare-bones remakes like other companies, and so far they seem to be retelling gen III.
DLC is an obvious choice, but didn't they say they wanted to kerp that sorta thing out of the equation? Optional area like a battle tower would be fine, but wouldn't need very many people to create either. They could do both if they wanted.
@Kaze_Memaryu So you find remakes of games fans have been asking for are a "waste of resources" but you wan them to "improve" X&Y with new areas, which would basically mean a 3rd version (i.e. Pokemon Z)? Comparing the two options, how are these games a "low point"?
Also, on the subject of HG/SS, the only other way to play those games were with the original games from 11yrs ago, two hardware generations back, that also had known issues with draining internal batteries. Thats reason enough since it allows younger/newer fans to play those games much easier, and old fans tired of dying saves.
I hope for his sake it really is just an excuse not to show up. Its a very real possibility that its a stress-triggered issue, so even if it was really minor his doctor would advise him to take it easy for a while.
Needless to say, thats not good if his job is causing him that much stress. At least hes in a position where he can off load as much extra work as he needs to on somebody else.
@IceClimbers @mjc0961 wasn't talking about doing it under the affiliate program though. Using the affiliate program to strong arm people into complying (via ID claims and such) would just make matters worse for Nintendo.
Google doesn't really have any leverage to take advantage of, if Nintendo doesn't like something they can just take their ball and go home, it may be Google's site but its Nintendo's IP. They want Nintendo as a customer just as much as Nintendo wants all this BS of theirs to go through. Google is smart enough to know that Nintendo's presence just brings in more traffic (i.e. money).
@Gamercube5f Thats not the same thing, for something like music listening is the experience. For a game the experience is in the interaction, something you can't do through a video alone. Even with story-based games the interaction is the driving force behind it.
As for lets plays, if your talking straight up, vanilla gameplay, yea, you have a point. For the really good lets plays the point is what the creators put into them. While people aren't entitled to making money they certainly don't deserve this.
Plenty of people DO in fact buy games they've watched gameplay of, and a lot of that does comes from lets plays as well as reviews, commentary, or just talking over footage. It creates word of mouth, it creates awareness for games people would otherwise not buy, much less play, so your "why not actually get the game and play it" argument doesn't work here. Its a chicken-egg scenario.
Its bad PR to do what they're doing, especially for such little gain. They'll get peanuts, lots and lots of peanuts, but in exchange for the goodwill of their fans. Thats a bad trade. At the very least this affiliate program comes off as Nintendo saying they've had a change of heart and decided not to screw fans over quite so much. They could, but they're not going to.
@JustinH @SuperSammy64 No, thats not what they're saying. They mean the cartoony style and gameplay of the chocobo series of games is meant for children, and they want something more "suitable for adults" for a home console release.
Its more to do with a game like that being seen as too "immature" for adults than what platform its on. They'd probably go for something more like the modern Final Fantasies.
@faint Ok, gotcha, yea the hype for it will die down by then at least. Its the first game so it won't enjoy the kind of continued success GTA has through out the year.
Most people who picked it up the past couple days probably did pre-order, thats just the typical thing to do for any major release since they get priority.
That doesn't mean only those who pre-ordered are interested, especially for Nintendo games. Most are likely waiting sales, their next paycheck, their next trip into town, something along those lines.
@Jenraux Yep, if there were any chance of that its shot now, releasing their own home-grown "Harvest Moon" is be a huge "screw you" to Marvelous. Or it could also mean there wasn't any chance to begin with, so upsetting Marvelous isn't a concern for them.
Gotta wonder why Marvelous didn't just use the name Ranch Story since its the intended name of the series to begin with. Searching for it even brings up Harvest Moon.
@Achoo Even the cheapest Motherboards have an ethernet port, so taking it out is pointless, especially if your just going to sell an an adapter for it anyway. The existence of that adapter shows Nintendo thinks its something people want in the first place, or they wouldn't bother. Moves like that definitely come across as cheap and money grubbing, or penny-pinching if you prefer.
Those kind of things aren't "extra" either, they're considered standard features. When everything but the Wii U has those features, yes it comes across as cheap. The Wii U is stuck between older consoles with comparable power, (obviously) bigger game selections, more features, and a cheaper price, and the other next gen consoles which are stronger, have more features, more support, but cost more.
Needing things like external drives and adapters to make up for those things soaks up whatever advantage it has as the "affordable" next-gen console. Its obvious to anyone browsing store shelves.
Your right about SSD vs. HDD, thats what I meant by "cartridges vs. CD". Its pretty much the exact same situation. The issue with HDDs are as big as you make it sound though, except if your goal is the smallest, quietest device possible.
@faint Its not just about the pre-orders, launch day is prime time for game sales. Its where the bulk of the sales are made, and the following week or two are the most crucial after that.
Evergreen games like this keep selling consistently despite their age, it doesn't mean they sell a lot, just that they don't fall into obscurity or into barain bins after the 1st month or so like most games. Watch Dogs could be Ubisoft's GTA, the next Assassin's Creed, or a one hit wonder, who knows.
What exactly do you mean "become GTA", your aware GTA is an evergreen series too, right?
@Achoo The point was motherboards have them built in, if its ridiculous to leave out wifi its even more ridiculous to leave out a wired option.
I didn't say they "cheaped out" I said it makes the Wii U look that way in comparison to the competition. The issue with needing extra stuff isn't with moving things, its setup and space. People also don't like finding out they need to go back to buy more little extras for their new device, especially $300 "affordable" options.
The only "extra feature" I mentioned was more HDD space, which would definitely improve the perceived value of the console, and if Nintendo wants to sell people on digital games having more from the start will make it more appealing. Cost, size, and noise wouldn't be an issue either.
Like I said to SuperMikey, its "cart vs. CD" all over again. The only difference is "CD" (or in thins case, HDD) isn't at much of a disadvantage at all.
@Starwolf_UK The funny thing is certain GC and Wii games were, namely Animal Crossing and Pokemon Colosseum/XD. You can't copy or transfer them.
I actually did exactly what you mentioned myself, but to keep them for the older games. Only for gen IV though, I didn't think to back up the gen V ones.
As for the confusion about slowly killing the cartridges, its just due to flash memory having a finite number of 'writes'. I don't remember the actual number of writes (its a lot though) but your standard SSD is estimated to last for at least 10yrs of normal, daily usage for a PC, game carts only write for save files and should last much longer.
The only problem is for older cartridge-based games that use a battery for saves, and only because of the battery itself. Even many of those still work.
@SuperMikey Its cheaper per GB at least, so it'd be something like 32GB for $20 vs. 500GB for $50. I think for Nintendo size is the main issue, with the Wii they wanted to make it as small as possible, I'm sure its the same here too.
The OS would see a good boost from running off flash but thats not a budget-oriented setup, which is weird for a console based around "affordable gaming". I think its the cart vs. CD thing all over again.
@Kirk Because hes is thinking people mean 500GB of flash memory. You'd be right there @SuperMikey, but notice peole are saying 500GB "HDD" not "SSD", the latter being flash memory.
@Achoo Well you don't "need" wifi either now do you? They could just as easily have dropped wifi and went with a lan adapter, which motherboards usually have built in anyway.
There are two big issues here with the way Nintendo does things. Number one being that it does leave an impression that Nintendo cheaped out since its missing things even last-gen consoles have like ethernet ports and HDD space. You can't tell me people don't notice that the PS3 has over 7x the HDD space. Both have it right on the box.
The other is people don't want a bunch of extra boxes laying around or resort to cockamamie workarounds that involve running extra cords and hardware all over the house, much less buy extra equipment (for a $300 device no less) to compensate. Especially when, like I said before, the competition has all that stuff and its all ready to go.
@MikeVaughn It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has done this sort of thing. I doubt its intended to be malicious, just Nintendo pinching pennies. What would be a problem is if they do at least pay Charles Martinet but not others, that'd be a very clear misuse of their power.
It doesn't work for most games because they really can't reuse voice work. Nintendo's games mostly use an assortment of grunts and groans, most other games need entirely new lines of dialog done.
@Rukiafan The Wii games are cheap and easy to find, including both Rune Factory games. You can easily get tham all for around $20 on Amazon. Animal Parade is probably one of my favorites in the series.
As for the name change, hopefully they can get things settled. I loved XSEED's localization of RF4, but losing a name thats been around since the 90's is going to be a problem.
I can see a lot of people being dumbfounded when they can't find the new "Harvest Moon".
@midnafanboy There wouldn't be a point to paying for it for Microsoft, unless it was exclusive to the Xbox One, which it isn't. Its not coming to Wii U because it'd just be more work for Square-Enix, work they won't see enough of a return on. Most of their games have been Playstation exclusive, so this is a sign thats no longer viable, not that theres some sort of conspiracy going on.
@MikeVaughn Who'd you voice? Just wondering since if I remember right Charles Martinet does Mario, Luigi, as well as Wario and Waluigi, which for your typical Mario game doesn't leave much else.
The Mario doesn't age thing doesn't exactly help with that, since they don't need to re-record voices for characters who don't really change. That'd be their justification for it anyway.
@MadAdam81 Nintendo's marketing as a whole isn't working, free advertising can help but it won't turn the tides. If Nintendo wants to work out an agreement that allows for a symbiotic relationship thats all well and good, but they shouldn't go stepping on toes just because they can. Even the best attempt at co-existence can go sour if handled carelessly.
As far as "If they were any good, they wouldn't be on YouTube, relying on YouTube advertising."
Theres a lot of talent on Youtube. It allows for people to get a foot in the door, and for things that'd otherwise not exist because some company doesn't see merit in the idea. The only fools are the ones without a backup plan, because its as stable as any other form of media (i.e not very).
@JaxonH I think people overestimate how much they want new IP, and the other part is the "coffee" effect. People often end up saying what they think they should say rather than what they actually want. In this case new IP is the dark, 'sophisticated' coffee and established "rehashes" IP is the weaker blend most people actually buy. Your 'supposed to' want new IP or your a "filthy casual", a "fanboy", or all thats wrong with the industry.
The price of games doesn't help, since even $40 is a lot to splash on an interesting but unproven idea. We're creatures of habit and like what we like, even when we try something "new" its tied to something we already know like a favorite brand. How many of us pick new games based on the company that made it?
We still need and want new IP, variety is the spice of life after all, but all this hubbub over "rehashes" and "milked" IP is ridiculous. Most "new" ideas aren't really all that new either, at most they're fresh(er) takes on old ideas.
@Yorumi Sadly, tearing people down is easier than building yourself up.-_- Or who knows, he could be sour about MML3 and thats his way of coping. Misery loves company after all.
@noctowl Nope, Angry Birds have nothing on Minecraft. If anything its the next Pokemon.
@Yorumi Thats a good point, Notch just might not like Nintendo's attitude, it doesn't even have to be about user-generated content either. The way they've been about other issues like region-locking probably doesn't help.
@BoobooMama I see her as more of a trickster type, preferring to play mind-games than anything else. She definitely could be the type flirt with the enemy to get him to let his guard down. Or they could even go the forbidden love route, and she could want Link all to herself.
I kinda have the feeling they'll go the trickster route with the male villain being the muscle though, or at least him preferring brute force.
@Monsti No, you missed my point, I wasn't talking about the intent of the screenshot itself. Your accusing people of only seeing boobs, as if they're too simple-minded or shallow to notice anything else.
Do people notice? Yes, of course they do, but they aren't making a big deal about it either.
It doesn't matter if a game "doesn't need it", that doesn't mean its worse off for having it. Zelda isn't exactly a stranger to busty women, they just aren't quite as flashy. One things for sure, your in the minority on whats 'fit' for a Zelda game here.
@Monsti Or maybe, just maybe, people here are looking beyond those things? Do you seriously believe boobs are all people see?
No offense to those who have a problem with it, but I find it funny how it seems most of those who complain about these things are paying more attention to the things they object to than the ones they accuse of 'getting off' on it.
Judging by the way apparently plan to use NFC figurines they could be planning to allow customizable move-sets or who knows what else and that stuff could be transferable to the other games that use the figurines.
As long as its a buy it once and use it indefinitely model it shouldn't be a problem, which seems to be the plan.
As for being too "grown up" for figurines and what not, pulling the age card is also inherently childish. So are a lot of past-times and hobbies to some extent. Being "too old" is the wrong reason to deprive yourself of something.
@Meaty-cheeky Exactly, for all any of us know she could be the most vile, sinister villain since Ganondorf. Her design is awesome too, and better than the male villain I think. Theres nothing distasteful about it either.
Also a think to keep in mind, for those saying this sort of thing would "never happen in a Nintendo-made Zelda, this whole game is Nintendo approved. They're clearly ok with and possibly even gladly welcome it, they could very well make a character like her themselves if they wanted.
As for the male villain, he looks like a berserker. The weapon doesn't fit but he might be the leader of a beserker-themed group.
Games actually have become more expensive. They were $40 two generations ago with the PS2/GC/Xbox, so they actually went up $20. Heck, doesn't anyone remember Wii games were actually $50, rather than $60?
The thing is regardless of development costs games have and always will be a luxury. The publishers can't use that as an excuse forever, eventually something will have to give, either game prices have to adjust to fit the economy or they'll hit a wall when enough people can't afford enough $60 games for the market to remain sustainable.
Its all in that lighting and those eyes, I swear theres just something about them. This version of link doesn't look much different from the Skyward Sword version, its just that clean, shiny look with that pose that makes Link look more feminine, the screenshot looks fine to me.
@electrolite77 They weren't sprites, they were every bit as 3D as other Racing games at the time.
Having a 3D 4-player game was pretty big for the time too, before that you'd need an adapter for anything beyond 2-player, and not many games did that anyway that I know of. I think MK64 meant more to what racing games as a whole can do than what Mario Kart itself can. It wasn't genre defining like SM64 or OOT was though, some games did do what it does better in some ways.
@bmprsvz777
Well of course, but thats not the point of the report. Have you looked at it? They're actually looking at efficiency among other things. Its considering everything from sitting standby to actually gaming. Its more about what they've done right and how things can improve than which console is the best choice for the eco-conscious. They also compare them to past consoles.
A lot of that power is actually from things like video streaming and the Xbox's TV features. Apparently neither are all that great at power-scaling, funny considering they're build around AMD's APUs. Thats one of the main points in using them.
@Rukiafan Needless to say I'm right there with you, and no series has done anything like it since, this would be a good time for a new MR game. They weren't exactly easy games either despite being a "kiddie" sort of genre, they gave Pokemon a run for its money in the mechanics department.
As far as figurines go, I miss the old PVC mini-figurines they used to make. The closest I've seen were those pre-order bonuses for platinum and HG/SS, and they're still built like those trading figure game pieces. Speaking of which that would be a cool idea for the NFC figurines, some sort of "card" game.
@Action51 Thats whats baffling about all these long lived companies, Square-Enix, Capcom, and so on that all but dropped the very games that their reputations were built on in the first place.
Its like the story of Henny Penny, except even the acorn is imaginary.
@Stomatopod17 Exactly, a lot of the hate comes from people who just take the games at face value, they only look at the storyline and it popularity among kids, thats it. The funny thing is their "mature" games are just as if not more popular among the "kiddies", so if anything the argument about whats made for who is moot. The series has gone through more changes than most ever do.
@Chriis The water never bothered me, the only time it does is when its just a tiny little barrier that doesn't even need to exist. I just want them to smooth things out so the different areas don't feel like separate zones.

Re: Weirdness: Conan O'Brien Plays Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Re: E3 2014: Nintendo Won't Bring Live Twitch Streaming to Wii U as it Lacks 'Fun'
@DerpSandwich
I think we both know "oh" wouldn't be the end of it.
Re: E3 2014: Reggie Fils-Aime Reaffirms Nintendo's Commitment to the GamePad
Re: Club Nintendo Rewards Updated for June, Led by Kirby Once Again
Not really excited over any of them, but I've got coins expiring soon so its use 'em or lose 'em. So I'll probably get Kirby's Dreamland if i don't just splurge on a big item, I already have the Mario Party 2 otherwise I'd get that.
Re: New Mega Evolutions Revealed for Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
@Kaze_Memaryu
We don't know if thats the only reason they decided to remake them.
Re: New Mega Evolutions Revealed for Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire
@Kaze_Memaryu
So you find remakes of games fans have been asking for are a "waste of resources" but you wan them to "improve" X&Y with new areas, which would basically mean a 3rd version (i.e.
Re: Satoru Iwata Won't Attend E3 For Health-Related Reasons
I hope for his sake it really is just an excuse not to show up. Its a very real possibility that its a stress-triggered issue, so even if it was really minor his doctor would advise him to take it easy for a while.
Needless to say, thats not good if his job is causing him that much stress. At least hes in a position where he can off load as much extra work as he needs to on somebody else.
Re: Nintendo Revenue Claims on Mario Kart 8 YouTube Footage Reportedly Underway
@IceClimbers
@mjc0961 wasn't talking about doing it under the affiliate program though.
Google is smart enough to know that Nintendo's presence just brings in more traffic (i.e. money).
Re: Nintendo Revenue Claims on Mario Kart 8 YouTube Footage Reportedly Underway
@Gamercube5f
Thats not the same thing, for something like music listening is the experience.
Re: Chocobo Racing 3D Was Canned Because Square Enix Wasn't Happy With The Quality
@JustinH @SuperSammy64
No, thats not what they're saying. They mean the cartoony style and gameplay of the chocobo series of games is meant for children, and they want something more "suitable for adults" for a home console release.
Its more to do with a game like that being seen as too "immature" for adults than what platform its on. They'd probably go for something more like the modern Final Fantasies.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Drives Wii U Sales In The UK, Claims Second Place Behind Watch Dogs
@faint
Ok, gotcha, yea the hype for it will die down by then at least.
Re: Natsume Announces Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley for a 2014 Release on 3DS
@Jenraux
Yep, if there were any chance of that its shot now, releasing their own home-grown "Harvest Moon" is be a huge "screw you" to Marvelous. Or it could also mean there wasn't any chance to begin with, so upsetting Marvelous isn't a concern for them.
Gotta wonder why Marvelous didn't just use the name Ranch Story since its the intended name of the series to begin with. Searching for it even brings up Harvest Moon.
Re: Older Wii U Bundles, Including All Black Systems, Discontinued in Japan
@Achoo
Even the cheapest Motherboards have an ethernet port, so taking it out is pointless, especially if your just going to sell an an adapter for it anyway.
Re: Mario Kart 8 Drives Wii U Sales In The UK, Claims Second Place Behind Watch Dogs
@faint
Its not just about the pre-orders, launch day is prime time for game sales.
Re: Older Wii U Bundles, Including All Black Systems, Discontinued in Japan
@Achoo
The point was motherboards have them built in, if its ridiculous to leave out wifi its even more ridiculous to leave out a wired option.
Re: Treasure Your 3DS Game Saves Forever With This Handy Accessory
@Starwolf_UK
The funny thing is certain GC and Wii games were, namely Animal Crossing and Pokemon Colosseum/XD.
Re: Older Wii U Bundles, Including All Black Systems, Discontinued in Japan
@SuperMikey
Its cheaper per GB at least, so it'd be something like 32GB for $20 vs.
Re: Older Wii U Bundles, Including All Black Systems, Discontinued in Japan
@Kirk
Because hes is thinking people mean 500GB of flash memory. You'd be right there @SuperMikey, but notice peole are saying 500GB "HDD" not "SSD", the latter being flash memory.
@Achoo
Well you don't "need" wifi either now do you?
Re: Interview: Mario Kart 8 Director, Kosuke Yabuki, On Key Features of the Wii U's Blockbuster Release
@MikeVaughn
It wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has done this sort of thing.
Re: XSeed Games Localizing Newest Harvest Moon for North American Release
@Rukiafan
The Wii games are cheap and easy to find, including both Rune Factory games.
Re: 3DS Tops Japanese Hardware Chart as Wii U Secures Home Console Crown
@midnafanboy
There wouldn't be a point to paying for it for Microsoft, unless it was exclusive to the Xbox One, which it isn't. Its not coming to Wii U because it'd just be more work for Square-Enix, work they won't see enough of a return on. Most of their games have been Playstation exclusive, so this is a sign thats no longer viable, not that theres some sort of conspiracy going on.
Re: Interview: Mario Kart 8 Director, Kosuke Yabuki, On Key Features of the Wii U's Blockbuster Release
@MikeVaughn
Who'd you voice? Just wondering since if I remember right Charles Martinet does Mario, Luigi, as well as Wario and Waluigi, which for your typical Mario game doesn't leave much else.
The Mario doesn't age thing doesn't exactly help with that, since they don't need to re-record voices for characters who don't really change. That'd be their justification for it anyway.
Re: Nintendo Japan Announces Plans for YouTube Affiliate Program
@MadAdam81
Nintendo's marketing as a whole isn't working, free advertising can help but it won't turn the tides.
Re: Nintendo's Stock Value Creeps Back Upwards After a Tricky April
@JaxonH
I think people overestimate how much they want new IP, and the other part is the "coffee" effect.
Re: Fans Plan a Revival of Mega Man Legends 3
@Yorumi
Sadly, tearing people down is easier than building yourself up.-_-
Or who knows, he could be sour about MML3 and thats his way of coping. Misery loves company after all.
Re: Talking Point: It's Not Too Late for Nintendo to Join the Minecraft Party
@noctowl
Nope, Angry Birds have nothing on Minecraft. If anything its the next Pokemon.
@Yorumi
Thats a good point, Notch just might not like Nintendo's attitude, it doesn't even have to be about user-generated content either. The way they've been about other issues like region-locking probably doesn't help.
Re: Hyrule Warriors Is The Zelda Game That Eiji Aonuma Could Never Make Himself
@BoobooMama
I see her as more of a trickster type, preferring to play mind-games than anything else. She definitely could be the type flirt with the enemy to get him to let his guard down. Or they could even go the forbidden love route, and she could want Link all to herself.
I kinda have the feeling they'll go the trickster route with the male villain being the muscle though, or at least him preferring brute force.
Re: Here Are Plenty of Lovely Hyrule Warriors Screenshots at Which to Gawk
@Monsti
No, you missed my point, I wasn't talking about the intent of the screenshot itself.
Re: Here Are Plenty of Lovely Hyrule Warriors Screenshots at Which to Gawk
@Monsti
Or maybe, just maybe, people here are looking beyond those things? Do you seriously believe boobs are all people see?
No offense to those who have a problem with it, but I find it funny how it seems most of those who complain about these things are paying more attention to the things they object to than the ones they accuse of 'getting off' on it.
Re: The Wii U Version Of Super Smash Bros. Will Utilise The NFC Nintendo Figurine Platform
Re: Here Are Plenty of Lovely Hyrule Warriors Screenshots at Which to Gawk
@Meaty-cheeky
Exactly, for all any of us know she could be the most vile, sinister villain since Ganondorf.
Re: NPD Q1 Spend Shows 1% Drop Despite Substantial Hardware Boost
Games actually have become more expensive. They were $40 two generations ago with the PS2/GC/Xbox, so they actually went up $20. Heck, doesn't anyone remember Wii games were actually $50, rather than $60?
The thing is regardless of development costs games have and always will be a luxury. The publishers can't use that as an excuse forever, eventually something will have to give, either game prices have to adjust to fit the economy or they'll hit a wall when enough people can't afford enough $60 games for the market to remain sustainable.
Re: Hyrule Warriors Screenshots and Gameplay Details Emerge
Its all in that lighting and those eyes, I swear theres just something about them. This version of link doesn't look much different from the Skyward Sword version, its just that clean, shiny look with that pose that makes Link look more feminine, the screenshot looks fine to me.
Re: Nintendo Brand Manager Hopes Mario Kart 8 Will Serve as a "Catalyst" for Wii U
@electrolite77
Whoops, looks like you were right. Thats what happens when you go off memories from 10-15 years ago.
Gotta give Nintendo credit for disguising that so well at least.
At any rate heres hoping MK8 has the punch the Wii U needs to gain some traction.
Re: Nintendo Brand Manager Hopes Mario Kart 8 Will Serve as a "Catalyst" for Wii U
@electrolite77
They weren't sprites, they were every bit as 3D as other Racing games at the time.
Re: Wii U Reportedly Uses Less Energy to Run Than Wii and Rivals
@bmprsvz777
Thats the first thing I though of too, especially in regards to HTPCs. How might these consoles stack up to a Steam Box for example?
Re: Wii U Reportedly Uses Less Energy to Run Than Wii and Rivals
@bmprsvz777
Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Figurine Platform Could be a Vital Money-Spinner
@Rukiafan
Needless to say I'm right there with you, and no series has done anything like it since, this would be a good time for a new MR game.
Re: Square Enix Considering "Overseas" Release of Dragon Quest X
@Action51
Thats whats baffling about all these long lived companies, Square-Enix, Capcom, and so on that all but dropped the very games that their reputations were built on in the first place.
Its like the story of Henny Penny, except even the acorn is imaginary.
Re: First Footage of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire To Air In Japan This Weekend
@Stomatopod17
Exactly, a lot of the hate comes from people who just take the games at face value, they only look at the storyline and it popularity among kids, thats it. The funny thing is their "mature" games are just as if not more popular among the "kiddies", so if anything the argument about whats made for who is moot. The series has gone through more changes than most ever do.
@Chriis
The water never bothered me, the only time it does is when its just a tiny little barrier that doesn't even need to exist. I just want them to smooth things out so the different areas don't feel like separate zones.
Re: Pokémon Omega Ruby & Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Confirmed For Worldwide 3DS Launch in November
@Stomatopod17
One can only hope!
