Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

I’m not in favour as I love collecting but when I see them pushing key-cards, I will assume as a consumer that they are committing to creating a long-term server library that’s available in perpetuity vs. generation to generation. That’s what we need to ask Nintendo for clarification on. If they commit to that, then I care a little less. For years they’ve been saying the industry is moving digital, so let’s not be too surprised that it’s happening. I also don’t assume Nintendo will ever go under within my lifetime. But we do need this all made publicly clear imo

@The_Blue_Mage it’s an endless debate right. There are arguments that hold up each way. imo irrespective of Nintendo or Pokémon Company’s motives, I’d prefer to see original content being made and not “Pokémon with guns” or “Animal Crossing with Hello Kitty”. At the end of the day, we’re all gamers here. We should vote with our wallets and buy strong, original IP vs. Copy-cat productions. I’m sure on that everyone can agree.

Re: Donkey Kong Country Artist Shares His Thoughts On Kong's New Design

@link3710 no no, I get what you’re saying. I guess I meant that Rare helped develop the “DKC” era look, but this feels like Nintendo took ownership of DK back to their original vision back when he was throwing barrels at Mario and have clearly iterated and innovated on that design, and I love that so much. I remember his look from old game manuals and magazines and this makes me feel very nostalgic. The new design has far more potential for character and moves away from that 3D infancy era. I think DK looks great!

Re: Miyamoto Wasn't A Big Fan Of Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Early Elephant Design

@tjhiphop exactly right! It’s the wrong take to think Shigeru is being creatively stifling. He’s only doing what a creative manager or art director should be doing. Everything you see and love in a finished game will have gone through this process so it feels cohesive. To put it another way, imagine if the art style on the elephant looked a little out-of-place and not quite right, that would be off-putting every time you got the power up. But now it fits. Without this little anecdote about the elephants development, you’d be none the wiser. Also when WW is brought up, maybe original designs were kinda bad and Miyamoto steered it to what we know and love now. A lot of these quotes often lack context but we take them as gospel

I’m super curious to see how my combat play style has changed since playing Age of Calamity. They look identical so I think it’s going to be super confusing for my brain. I hope it won’t ruin it by making me feel like Link is suddenly really underpowered. I’ll probably miss his follow-up attacks (hold-x)
