@Jayenkai Doesn't work. Mic from that far away won't capture audio as adequately in handheld play. Console has mic already. Sensor bar is useless expense when similar technology is built into controller. Mouse precision doesn't work that way. That leaves us with the camera... which is what they did
NS2 doesn't stream to dock because 1. It won't charge the system, but deplete battery 2. Streaming is not as reliable and would result in 480p 3. Streaming does not boost power 4. Would require more technology in the dock for a worse solution
How is this cool? There is no design to it or clever twist. It's just a 3D printed barrel slapped onto the dock without any thought. It's disappointing. It's almost as disappointing as using posts from random sites as news. A mine cart from DKC would have fit the dock's design better
@Sonicka It is not confirmed if they are developing the game. To the best of our knowledge, they are assisting the main developers, this is how most people I have seen are interpreting the announcement.
@Ogbert You are right. I'm simply pointing out one possibility. However, while Sonic Team seems to be the most likely developer, I would say the likelihood is not overwhelming. Don't count out Sumo just yet. The reason why I say this is because the disgraced but shockingly reliable Midori leaker mentioned Sumo Digital was developing a new SEGA All-Stars Racing game months before CrossWorlds was revealed.
@TheSupaShinobi No, this was never confirmed. SEGA said an "elite racing team" is developing it, could mean anyone. You won't find a source, because there is not any source for this. The developer you mention is confirmed to be assisting development. It is not yet confirmed they are the main developer.
@Ogbert You are correct. Sumo is looking unlikely however we should still consider them as a possibility.
For one, it's possible SEGA is going the Nintendo route and hiding devs for security reasons. Like with Mario and Luigi, or, well, tons of their games lately.
@DragotheKomodo We don't know that yet. We don't know who is in the base roster. The Sonic characters who were shown in the background of the stage could be DLC. And the site says choose from "over" 23 Characters.
@Ogbert No, we still don't have a fully confirmed developer yet. SEGA never said it was an internal racing team, not explicitly. It's only something that can be inferred from what they actually said. Sonic Team's logo shows up in every game. The Steam page DOES have Sonic Team is the developer, but that could just be a placeholder.
@DragotheKomodo "New worlds await in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog racing game – Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – introducing a unique gameplay mechanic transporting the iconic characters from the Sonic and Sega universes into new dimensions."
It's also on the game's official website. The official website says "Sonic and SEGA characters"
@DragotheKomodo "I'm telling you, this won't be a SEGA crossover game, this will be a Sonic crossover game, bringing the 3 canon elements into 1 game, games, IDW and Prime"
@DragotheKomodo It's not canon - it's about as canon as 06. Flynn said it wipes itself out, just like 06. Therefore, it doesn't exist in canon.
Nothing in the trailer matches Prime.
People saying Prime aren't thinking things through - why would they bring in characters from a show that just ended... into a racing game of all things? Same thing with the multiverse stuff. The existing Sonic multiverse isn't big enough (based on the properties SEGA has access to and are memorable) to make a whole game about it. It also makes no sense to make a Sonic multiverse racing game. Think about it - that's something that would be reserved for a mainline game. It's either All-Stars (likely based on leakers saying so and other evidence) or just a portal mechanic in the races, or just a general crossover title with the SEGA All-Stars, a couple of multiverse Sonic characters, and it's explained by the paradox prism in whatever story they are going to have.
@AeonicB "Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the latest entry in the beloved series of SEGA racers. Drift Across Dimensions! Race across land, sea, air, space, and time in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds!"
I also notice the game appears to look more mature, the city is just a real city. That is good because it's straying from the overly sanitized look of the previous game

Re: Miyamoto Views Games As 'Products', Not 'Works Of Art', Says Ex-Nintendo Dev
"Product," in this case, doesn't mean "something to make money from."
It's "product" in the same sense Apple's Jony Ive uses the word.
Product = a design.
I agree with Mr. Miyamoto 👍
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Characters From "SEGA Universes"
@Ogbert No need to hold you to it, as mentioned it is most likely not Sumo but personally I am not discounting them yet for reasons stated above.
@Sonicka No problem whatsoever, I didn't take offense to your comment. Just saying there is no point in trying to argue to change someone's opinion.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Characters From "SEGA Universes"
@Sonicka This was never explicitly said, but I won't argue further. Believe what you will.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Characters From "SEGA Universes"
@Ogbert I'm not saying I think Sumo did make it, I'm saying it's a mistake to say they definitively did not.

@theSupashinobi That is just a baseless rumor going around.

23 base characters is a mistake or the Sonic characters are DLC.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Speeds Onto Nintendo Switch "Soon"
@DragotheKomodo The game has SEGA characters https://blog.playstation.com/2025/02/12/sonic-racing-crossworlds-gameplay-revealed-new-mechanics-detailed/
However I will give you that Prime characters are confirmed as DLC. They just weren't part of the base game.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Speeds Onto Nintendo Switch "Soon"
@DragotheKomodo You said it'd be mixing prime, IDW, and main universe. Nope!
I'm not incorrect in any way, though it doesn't matter at all.

I hope for a new Jet Set Radio character...
