In my 40 hours of play on Nintendo Switch the only bug/glitch I’ve come across is Tails not de-spawning & constantly jumping, however it only happened once and stopped after about 20 seconds.
Sonic Origins isn’t anywhere near being an unplayable broken mess of a game (except on some pc’s), it really does just have a few small errors that aren’t even experienced by every player. Sonic Origins is definitely the best way to play these games on a console
@Gryffin
Actually in this case leaving out save states makes sense. Sonic Origins isn’t emulating any rom’s, each game is a full remaster and are meant to be experienced the same way Sonic Mania was, so they didn’t want people abusing save states. However special stages can be retried using coins and each game does autosave after every stage and even after every checkpoint, so saves can still be abused if you’re smart.
Big the Cat showing up on the Star Fall Islands with no story reason would actually be hilarious. I hope it’s either that or the story context is that he’s the only one with no amnesia.
@strollin_stu Which “Sonic Boom” are we talking about? Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal complete are trash, however the TV show and Fire & Ice are pretty good.
Sonic Origins has a lot of museum content though. From Sonic Stadium: “Not only can you unlock the classic Sonic Screensaver and other artworks found on Sonic Jam, but you can also view manual and box arts for every game – in any region. There are some really nice curios here too, such as a 1994 European Sonic Art Style Guide and graph paper scans of boss concepts from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and even storyboards and animatics for the animations in not only Sonic Origins, but Sonic Mania Adventures too. You can also unlock the entirety of the Sonic 30th Anniversary Symphony using your coins so you can enjoy it on the big telly whenever you like.” It also includes stages remixes from Sonic Generations, Sonic Forces, & Super Smash Bros.
Sonic Origins definitely isn’t a lacklustre collection, each game is fully remastered and the museum has a lot of archived & anniversary unlocks! From Sonic Stadium:

Sonic Colours Ultimate was developed by Blind Squirrel Entertainment and had issues on every platform, not just switch.
Sonic Origins has been put together by Sega, and each game has been remastered by parts of the Mania development team.
@Frumpklin
Sonic Origins is a collection of the 4(5) original Sonic games, fully remastered from the ground up (by some of the Mania team) to be HD & widescreen, with new features. Each game has a saving system, Sonic 2 has a stage not in the original, coins can be used to buy special stage retry’s, spin dash & drop dash are in every game, Tails & Knuckles are playable in other games, new animations have been made, and much more.
On top of that Sonic Origins also has story mode (combines every game and brand new cutscenes together), mirror mode, boss rush, a brand new blue spheres game, a huge list of ranked missions, an interactive 3D world map, a music player, and an anniversary museum which includes content never seen before.
@KindofaBigDeal
I mean, Sonic Generations is objectively a great Sonic game, at least according to fans & a whole lot of reviews. Saying that it’s only decent is definitely a personal opinion and not what the majority who have played it thinks.
I have to say that I’m not confused about Sonic Frontiers at all, as someone who has kept up with all the news, details, and real gameplay leaks. Some things are obvious still unexplained right now, but remember news coverage isn’t over yet & some things need to be left as a surprise. However it really might end up being a game where you need to either play it yourself or find a good review.
@steventonysmith
I’m a young adult who loves Sonic, but I’m not blind to the faults. Just because I openly admit that I find some enjoyment in Sonic Forces doesn’t mean I think it’s perfect at all, far from it in fact. I admitted that as a whole it’s “just ok”, which is a fair judgment.
Firstly, Sonic Colours, Sonic Unleashed, & Generations are very solid modern Sonic games made by Sonic Team that aren’t “plagued with issue’s” really at all.
I definitely don’t ignore the many failures Sonic has had, just cause I like forces doesn’t I’m blind to issues. I know reusing wisps is lazy, and that most games post colours didn’t even use them well. I know that Sonic Lost World looks like a Mario Ripoff, has very generic environments, a bad story, etc (Btw, I hate the game). I know that Sonic Boom was planned to be a huge next gen game, but Sega wouldn’t allow big changes and then stuck it on the underpowered Wii U. I know that Sonic Forces was very overhyped and ended up being very simple and sometimes boring.
I can also very clearly see that Sonic Frontiers has some issues, however I also see personal complaints like “momentum is absolutely necessary”, and claims that “the world is empty” when we know it fills up as challenges are completed.
I personally really like how Sonic Frontiers is looking so far, it looks fun and has me intrigued. Animations & pop-in definitely need polish, however newer footage does show improvements in both areas, and they’ll keep being improved until they’re at least manageable.
I love Sonic so much, I really do hate it when i find issues while playing because I want to love every game. However it is also important to remember that sometimes an “issue” you have with a gane could be personal preference, just like things that people love about certain games.
I very much dislike that you assumed my age or that I’m a crazy fan who ignore’s every issue in the series that I love the most. Blind lovers really aren’t true fans. This long reply better be enough cause I don’t wanna come back and go in depth.
@steventonysmith Sonic Forces is a “bad game” because it hyped people up before launch and ended up being nothing that special, it’s actually “just ok”. By a “good game” I meant it has mediocre but solid gameplay, neat ideas & mechanics, cool new locations, and an excellent sound track. Anyway, the main point of the original comment was just to say that Sonic Forces was a finished Sonic Team product, it’s just that what they envisioned didn’t resonate with most of the world; the game actually had more positive reception in Japan.
Sonic Forces is many things, but “filled with bugs” is not one of them, in fact it’s one of the most polished Sonic games in that department. I’ve played Forces for a long time and haven’t had any bugs at all, while today Sonic Generations gave me a missing floor glitch.
@BinaryMessiah
I actually started the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure for the very first time just last week, i’ve had loads of fun with every character except Big who is just average. I’d definitely say it holds up over 20 years later, especially when I usually can’t even find enjoyment in playing retro games. I love Sonic Adventure very much, and I have no nostalgia for it at all.
Adventure 2 (Dreamcast) has felt very average except for the story.
Heroes & Shadow feel sloppy to control, while 06 has surpassingly never given me much trouble at all.
Unleashed has been hard to get into because it controls different to Gens/Colours & requires you to find hidden collectable medals to progress. The story is good & the Werehog is fine.
Colours felt very solid throughout, nothing much to say.
Generations modern stages are epic to blast through while Classic stages are just good fun.
Lost World has neat mechanics, but the generic environments get old very quick.
Forces really wasn’t too bad, just seems short and has less control.

Sonic 1, 2, & CD have only been remastered once. Sonic Origins is bringing them to consoles with fixes & changes, while having a brand new S3&K remaster. Part of Sonic Origins is also having the games run at 4K 60FPS (Xbox, Play Station, & PC).
Classic Mario games have also been re-released a lot, Sonic has more mainly due to being multi-platform.
@Thomystic
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Sonic & Knuckles are treated as one game because they were developed that way, Sonic 3 was split into two games because it became too big for one cartridge. That’s why Sega made the genius move of implementing new cartridge technology that could load both games at once to recombine them.
So Sonic Origins is literally using the true vision of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
@RubyCarbuncle I don’t actually mind it since it’s used to revive Sonic, and a princess’s kiss being magic isn’t a new concept at all. The princess & the frog also exists.
@samuelvictor
I assume Sonic is just moving fast enough to shoot the wind as a projectile, in fact I’ve heard that the move is in previous games and named “Sonic Wind”. I do like the homing attack as a mechanic, but it truely doesn’t make any sense at all on now it is performed in the context of the His World.
I really don’t think Sonic Frontiers needs delay anyway, especially after seeing the new footage which showed less pop-in, improved animations, a less empty world, faster movement, and more combat moves; I really do feel like any more issues in current and future builds can be fixed before release. The new interview also confirmed fishing will be in the game, so does that mean that Big could be lost on the StarFall Islands too?
I understand that saying “Fans don’t understand” sounds kind of bad, however it could be a slight mistranslation or cultural misunderstanding. Either way, it’s true that we don’t truly understand the game yet, Sonic Team are clearly trying to hide things from us for as long as they can to keep the mystery theme going. I for one don’t really want any more info, because at this point I have enough to know I’ll probably enjoy it and I think I’d rather piece together the rest of the game while playing.
The “Sonic is too slow”, “enemy’s takes too many hits”, and “world is too empty” arguments don’t really seem stand anymore, because we now know about the upgrades system to become faster, more powerful, take more hits, etc and that the world actually becomes more populated the more you play.
I’m very excited for Sonic Frontiers, I love everything we’ve seen and heard so far and every little detail that comes out makes me even more excited. I just wanna play the game now, I wouldn’t even care if the public demo was an early build.
@Anti-Matter
In Sonic Frontiers you need to save Sonic’s friends from whatever brought them to the mysterious Star Fall Islands, and figure out the what secrets they are hiding. You beat up different enemies with a range of combat moves to gain experience, then buy upgrades to become powerful enough to take down a colossal boss and take their portal gears. You then use portal gears to open a portal to cyberspace and play through linear boosts stages to find keys that unlock a Chaos Emerald. Completing puzzles and speed challenges unlock more of the map, you repeat the gameplay loop until you have every emerald and are powerful enough to beat up a mega boss which would be holding Sonic’s friends captive.
According to leaks you actually have to collect all 7 emeralds on every island, which would mean much more levels and multiple mega bosses.
IGN Japan has also said as you explore you find hearts to give Amy for a reward, and IGN trailers have shown other collectables that you probably give to Tails & Knuckles in the same way for more rewards.
I played Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast) for the first time last week and was actually quite disappointed with it. I know the story is legendary, but the treasure hunting is boring, the mech stages feel like you just spam shoot while walking forward, some crucial upgrades weren’t obvious, Amy is a big part of the story but isn’t playable, the sound mixing is horrendous, and that’s just from the beginning of the hero story. I prefer two stories over 6, but both play nearly the same.
Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) is definitely the better game. It has a great story, epic Tails character development, fun treasure hunts, high speed action, funny facial expressions, spam-dash, hub worlds with small puzzles, chase sequences, and more. I think 6 stories is too many, and Big was unnecessary, but at least it doesn’t have copy characters.
I would hope a Sonic Adventure 3 would be more based on Sonic Adventure then Sonic Adventure 2, but I personally prefer the 06 style over both.
@steventonysmith
I would say Sonic Forces is a “good” and finished Sonic Team game. The thing may be short and not as good as Sonic Generations, but it’s still a solid looking & playing Sonic game, with fun ideas & mechanics, while having little to no glitches. I play the game every few months and never hate my experience.
@Specters
I’m sorry dude, the IGN presenter who has actually played the game and actually spoken to the developers, literally confirmed that we’ve been seeing an early build. I also never claimed to know anything about if it was in Alpha or Beta stages, all I said was that it’s an early build.

I would hope a Sonic Adventure 3 would be more based on Sonic Adventure then Sonic Adventure 2, but I personally prefer the 06 style over both.
Re: Round Up: Every Switch Game Featured In The Summer Game Fest 2022 Opening Showcase
Probably low on Nintendo content because the big N is planning for a direct to release very soon.

Re: Back Page: So, What Are We Calling This Not-E3 Conference, Anyway?
“Sonic Frontiers at IGN” month, that’s all I’m here for unless Nintendo has a direct.

Re: The Sonic Frontiers Preview Footage Is From An "Early Build"
@steventonysmith

@Specters
I’m sorry dude, the IGN presenter who has actually played the game and actually spoken to the developers, literally confirmed that we’ve been seeing an early build. I also never claimed to know anything about if it was in Alpha or Beta stages, all I said was that it’s an early build.

They show the video menu and we can see that the Sonic Mania Adventures Youtube shorts are included,
