Re: Moon Chronicles Lands on the 3DS eShop in North America on 15th May

PJR0cks

@Zemus-DJ
well I started my gaming on Atari too, I was 3 or 4 back then, but I never got doom really, it just made me dazy, I hated first person shooters back then, until 1998 that I played Half Life and it suddenly changed my gaming world, and it started there and was followed by Unreal Tournament, counter strike and more recent games like COD, I just don't think I want to go back to those times you know, I guess I appreciate all that's been achieved in the genre. having said all that, Doom was one of the games that started it all, so no disrespect intended, and I know you aren't the only one that really liked that game.

Re: Download Sales On Nintendo Formats Have Trebled In The Last Two Years

PJR0cks

@farore311
Can you explain how that works, can I just launch games directly from the hard drive or what?
And anyone any Ideas on MK8 digital vs physical, I'm thinking I will be playing the game a lot, and from what it says right now it only needs 4GB of space which is good, but still like to know the pros and cons. thanks

Re: Nintendo Looking To "Harvest" 3DS Success To Avoid An "Unacceptable" Fourth Year Of Losses

PJR0cks

@ajcismo
yes they have undoubtedly made a lot of mistakes, some of the things you mentioned I totally agree with you, but here is the thing, as a Wii U owner who only was looking forward to MK8 (honestly that was pretty much it) now with every right step Nintendo takes, I can be hopeful that great things still can happen in it's future. and from now on in my eyes it can only get better since I had already made my peace with a lot of it's issues. I don't know if these changes will save Nintendo, but they sure will make me more happy.

Re: Video: Nintendo Shows Off The Wii U's Forthcoming Quick Boot Menu

PJR0cks

@absuplendous
yeah I agree, like if I turn the system on with my pro controller there is no need for the game pad screen to turn on, that would be great.
But this is very good news too, I feel kind of bad for Nintendo, but I love the feeling that I will be getting new features for the console I already love in the next coming months because of the low sales, like I would already happily pay 60$ for my MK8, but now seeing I also get a free game, I love it even more.

Re: Here's an Updated Summary of Nintendo's Software Bestsellers

PJR0cks

Nintendo needs to reinvent itself in the home console market with new games, the old franchises won't save Nintendo this time around, the only 2 who show hope are MK8 and smashbros. the rest are pretty much useless when it come to sales, Nintendo needs a new phenomena, they haven't had one for such long time, something to go viral like minecraft did and has helped boost 360 sales right at the end of it's life, something to get the attention of the masses, like Wii sports did for Wii, where you see it everywhere in YouTube, and all the social media's and gets people talking.

Re: Research Firm IDC Anticipates Worldwide Wii U Price Cut in Late 2014 to 2015, Increase in Retail Downloads

PJR0cks

you can talk about this all you want, Nintendo s main issue is today's culture, they just don't get it! they don't understand the Internet, they don't know how to use it to their advantage, they don't understand today's marketing, United states has always been where Nintendo sold best, and now look at it? you get console wars on tv (south park, Big Bang etc..) and Wii U's name doesn't come up! or when it does it gets discarded just that second with a witty joke, the little kids you talk about don't like a console without big franchises like COD or GTA, how idiot can you be if you think a console can pick up in sales without them? they're everywhere, in TV, in the net, in magazines. I'm sorry but if you think Nintendo has a chance to go without these huge multi million franchises, well you're simply wrong. just the new destiny alone is set to cost 500mil, think of all the marketing it will have.
and then there are teenagers who have to go to school and get a beating if they actually say they have a Wii U, I think some of you have forgot how it was having something that isn't "cool" in those ages and how you cried to your mummy when you were 10 to buy what the other kids see as cool. the PS4 and XBone fanboys are having plenty of fun on Nintendos behalf with it's under performing console, it's every where in the Internet, and yet you come to here and talk about how great and relevant it is and how you're surprised it won't sell.

Re: Nintendo Reports Financial Losses As Expected, Along With Modest Wii U Sales Targets

PJR0cks

Well, I'm personally not surprised at all, as far as Wii U goes, this is a disaster and nothing less, comparing the Wii U with Wii in there current lifetime in both hardware and software can easily demonstrate how bad it is.
I was looking at MK8 preorder numbers for US a few days ago (it was around 100K till April 26th), and I realized that this can't be the savior of Nintendo, even though this is it's biggest franchise.
I can't see how Zelda, or F-Zero can change something that MK8 or Smash Bros. can't fix. anyways with this numbers Wii U will be Nintendos lowest selling home console to date, and as I was saying in another post, Nintendo's biggest loss won't be selling less consoles, it will be selling less of great games like MK8 and SM3DW.... due to having them exclusive on this console.
As for the 3DS to sell the same amount it did last year is a very optimistic projection, but I hope it happens.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@JaxonH
My point wasn't that Nintendo won't be able to make Consoles anymore, it was that maybe their better of developing games for multiple platforms, maybe I don't know.
Nintendo had a taste of success with the Wii, they saw titles like MK reach up to 35 mil in sales, another Game Cube scenario (which the Wii U is behind in terms of sale as well) won't cut it for them this time around, wii sold more then 900 mil games with a big chunk of it being first party, are you telling me they will be okay with just hitting 150 mil in sales this time around? I think the Wii U sales have been a much bigger blow to them then what you might imagine, and they might keep it cool, but they are in Red Alert mode.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@Einherjar
I get what you're saying don't get me wrong, but our discussion started with you replying to my post about how Wii U sales could pick up, and so saying people have choice doesn't make sense since we are talking about how they should be choosing Wii U over other consoles, but with what you're saying people will continue buying PS4.
@gatorboi352
yeah the whole point of my discussion was what should Nintendo do to sell consoles, and what current Wii U owners expect, but they keep coming back with the only valuable thing the Wii U has to offer when compared to other consoles, and that's Nintendos exclusive games.
@JaxonH
It's not like I'm having second doubts about why I got my Wii U, I made a very informed decision and I bought it just recently in April, not before all the 3rd party dropping support, Nintendo is Doomed scenario.
But what you guys don't seem to be getting is Nintendo is making it harder for the mass to play it's games, a console exclusive to Nintendo games isn't half the picture, it might be to you, but it isn't for the majority of people, yes you can never get an all in one console, with all the games, and all the benefits, it's a free market that will never happen, even having consoles isn't enough if you're a hardcore gamer, who wants to miss out on SC2 or Dota or all these awesome games that are exclusive to PC right now.
But the point is Nintendo vs. EA / ACTIVISION / UBI /TakeTwo / Konami / Capcom / Sony or Microsoft / etc.. is a fail you wanna know why? look at the sales. at the end of the day you alone won't be able to save Nintendo, they either gotta start looking for more audiences or this could be their last home console. I'm pretty sure Nintendo is looking at the numbers and thinking of new ways of attracting new customers, I said it before it will be a shame if a game like MK8 that so much work and love has gone to it, sells only 2 or 3 million just because of bad Management on Nintendo's front, my love will always be for the Nintendo games, not the name, not the company and who's running it, not the console I play it on, just the games. I hope in near future more people get to experience these remarkable games (like SM3DW), but they will only do so if Nintendo(and some of it's fans apparently) start looking at things differently.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@Einherjar
"Also, the whole argument of "the consumer needs the ability to choose" Guess what ? We already HAVE the ability to choose which platform we want ! If the need for countless AAA 3rd party titles outweights Nintendos 1st party games, go ahead, you now have 2 other consoles to chose from. "
I seriously don't understand your arguments and what you're trying to say, but you're right about choice and the people have chosen, just look at the sales.
and btw comparing 3 gaming consoles to PC, Mac and Linux is wrong on so many levels.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@JaxonH @Einherjar
You do make some great points, so does Einherjar, specially about turning 1080p to 720p, it's true, unless you're in a TV store and they put 2 TV's side by side, most people wouldn't know the difference, including me.
As for your whole argument, that Gaming culture and lack of marketing are the only 2 reason why Wii U is struggling, I disagree, although they both have substantial role in this whole situation, they are not the only reasons, you talk about how power doesn't matter, but it does, graphically Wii U does okay but performance wise it doesn't. no 3rd party is a non issue? well maybe for you guys who happen to have a PS4 or XBOX1, but for other people like me who only own 1 console, I like to be able to play FIFA, Madden or PES on my console with my friends, is that asking for too much? I'm a PC gamer at heart so I rather not play COD or other action AAA titles without my mouse and keyboard but others might want to play it on their home consoles.
I will just say this, Nintendo is definitely my favorite game developer, but 1 publisher for 1 console isn't fair, I should be choosing whether I want Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo exclusives not choosing Nintendo or all 9 other major publishers. I will tell you this, if most people had that choice in this generation of consoles, the winner with have been Nintendo for sure.
I could go on and on but I guess we all have made our minds, I've made my peace with owning the Wii U just for the pleasure of Nintendo games, heck MK8 alone was enough of a reason for me to get it [I bought the Wii U two weeks after the first Video I saw on You Tube], I'll probably get a PS4 eventually for the 3rd party games, not the Sony games but the 3rd party games I should have been able to play on my Wii U.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@Einherjar
wow, I don't know if I should reply to that! Oh God yes Wii U is the perfect hardware and yet it is selling less then XBOX360 and PS3 that are a decade old console.
Nintendo Life is a place that I expect to be able to discuss rationally the current issues with this console, none of the things you said makes any sense.
The Hardware and MK8? Come on, have you been reading the articles, I mean I haven't played the game yet, but no support for Wii U game pad for 2 player local game, just the TV screen? no fifth player? frame rate drops to 30 fps in 3 and 4 player modes? why do you think that is? did the developers simply decide to ignore these issues? this game looks so polished and freaking fantastic that I can assure you that they didn't miss these things, they just couldn't make them happen.
You don't give subscription to people to use the systems basic features, you give them subscriptions for added features like free games, just look at PS3 sales and you will know paying 50$ extra to get a ton of free games on 3 different platforms is working very well for Sony.
Also as far as entertainment goes you might look to other places for this kind of services but obviously everyone doesn't (look at XBOX1), I personally don't care much for it either but it couldn't hurt, a lot of non gaming uses could be found for the Game Pad besides the TV remote feature, it's pretty much an overpowered Tablet.
Wii U is a Unique Console, but it won't be for long if people at Nintendo have the same attitude you do and hope that every thing resolves itself.
What they are doing with MK8, the bundles, the free game, it's a start, but they need to continue giving offer and promotions to get the people to buy the console.
if MK8 which I'm guessing is going to be an epic game, doesn't equal or pass the sales of it's predecessors even though it's a lot better, then that's not on me and it's not on you, It's on Wii U and Nintendo and that's that.

Re: Mario Kart Month: An Outsider's View Of Super Mario Kart

PJR0cks

No offense to people complaining but you really don't know what you're talking about. I loved the game, so did all my friends and anyone who started playing it back then, I loved it when it was first released and when I picked it up years later, I enjoyed it just the same, easily if not the best racing game in gaming's history, one of the top 3. I haven't played a lot of the other MK versions since I can imagine them being great, but I can't imagine they could ever be as influential as this game was back then, and complaining that the game was challenging is ridiculous, since that is part of it's overall appeal.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

There are 2 kinds of problems with the Wii U, the problem with the hardware and it's shortcomings that well isn't going anywhere, and the problem with it's marketing, non available subscription model, Entertainment and non gaming value, e-shop and etc.. these problems can all be addressed, and although Wii U is not going to be the system that will have the best graphics in multi-platform games, it could be the most unique one that brings incomparable experiences that other consoles can't simply deliver.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

@MysticX
Well your assessment overall is correct, but coming out and saying those words will make them sound like such A-holes, actually they are not saying this publicly, you just hear developers talking about how it's hard to develop games for Wii U, but it's just in the shadows.
But my point is if UbiSoft does a successful job at porting Watch_Dogs then what does it all mean? (Watch_Dogs is an open world action game so a lot of processing power will be needed and that's where Wii U comes short, not in the graphics.) it means they released a Wii U version simply because the production had already started before the Wii U is doomed scenario and they are just moving forward with it, but with the other games like Assassin's Creed they are pretty much dropping it because the last one sold a lot less then other consoles, and your right, they're right to drop Wii U for this reason alone.

Re: Curve Studios And Dakko Dakko Heap Praise On The "Inspirational" Wii U

PJR0cks

Let's be honest the only reason they abandoned Wii U is it didn't sell games well, not the power or development issues, these are just reasons they made up afterwards so they can stop developing games for Nintendo, I didn't see EA complaining about the Wii's power compared to PS3 when they made stupid crappy sports games and sold over 2 Million. and hopefully with stronger marketing and release of games like MK8 once the sales pickup, they will suddenly come and say "oh but the Wii U has so much potential that we initially didn't realize."

Re: Nintendo Quashes Rumours Of New Hardware At E3 2014

PJR0cks

Well, I'm glad too see this, I was just saying in the other post Nintendo should make a comment, because this could have negative impact on the new bundle sales, well they acted a lot faster then I thought they would, glad to see they're on top of things.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Reveal New Hardware At This Year's E3

PJR0cks

@bizcuthammer
Well first, the only reason Nintendo would consider a console with more power would be to tailor to 3rd party games, as first party games are already working pretty well on the WiiU, I understand why Nintendo didn't really push the console in terms of power, just look at the game Sales on the Wii, and you can see why, the highest selling games on the console were either first party or 3rd party games like Just dance/ Lego games/ Zumba/ Skylanders.. top AAA action games like call of duty or Assassin's Creed never sold huge numbers on Nintendo consoles, at least when comparing the sales to PlayStation and Xbox that is. Electronic Arts best selling game wasn't Battlefield or FIFA on Wii it was sims. does sims need powerful graphics?
but as far as online features go, I agree with you. but there is no need for a new console, Nintendo just has to get more creative and add better interface and more enhanced usability in the next software updates, something I hope really happens,

Re: Activision Enlists Kevin Spacey To Sell Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare's New Brand Of Combat

PJR0cks

yeah all theses top AAA game sold between 100-200 k in Wii U, this really doesn't justify a port to Wii U, I hope Mk8 bundles sell and provide a better platform for 3rd party releases, Wii U will be my only home console, sad to miss out on some great games, although I am a PC gamer and I rather play FPS on my PC, but games like Assassin's Creed and watch dogs are definitely console games.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Reveal New Hardware At This Year's E3

PJR0cks

i just read in Gamespot that some say the supposedly new hardware is the successor to Wii U, now I know that's crap, but Nintendo has said they will not comment to these rumors, God it's like some people really are trying to damage Nintendo and these guys don't get it, right before the MK8 release and new bundle a rumor of the Wii u being replaced by its successor can have negative impact on sales, and yet Nintendo won't comment.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Reveal New Hardware At This Year's E3

PJR0cks

It's true that the Game boy Advance was replaced right about the same time in it's life spam with DS, but I don't think this will happen for at least another year, I'm still rooting for some king of integration with the 2 hardware, or something that can somehow enhance the experience, anyways comparing the 3DS hardware to today's phones isn't reasonable, High end smartphone come 3 to 4 times the price of a 3ds.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Will Reveal New Hardware At This Year's E3

PJR0cks

Guys don't worry the Wii U will not be replaced, contrary to the media and their "Nintendo is Doomed" scenario, Nintendo knows they can turn Wii U's fortunes around, it's not too late, anyways if this rumor is to be true, I hope it's an added peripheral to the Wii U, or a compatibility between the Wii U and 3DS or something along this line, revealing some QOL thing out of the blue will confirm all this nasty things they say about Nintendo.

Re: Ubisoft Now "Fully Focused" On Making The Wii U Version Of Watch_Dogs "The Best It Can Be"

PJR0cks

Honestly for me it's interesting that people complain about how Ubisoft is delaying this game on Wii U, just the fact that they are willing to put the time to develop this game for Wii U, everyone should be grateful, seriously black flag was released on Wii U with other platforms, the last gen consoles out sold it to about 15 to 1 and the current generation out sold it to about 8 to 1, so just the fact that Ubisoft is releasing this title is probably because of the loyalty they have to Nintendo for all the Just dance / Rayman titles sold on the Wii, and unfortunately I'm guessing if MK8 and SSB don't pick up the pace on Wii U sales this will probably be the last big 3rd party franchise moving to the Wii U.

Re: Nintendo Lifts The Lid On Its Plans For E3 2014

PJR0cks

@zool
I agree, it's not like every one should love every Nintendo title that comes out, I'm not a smash bros fan too, so I expect other things too form E3.

I hope they do more then just talk about some future Nintendo titles, is it just me that thinks more must be done then showing a few games that are being released in the coming year, this is all you guys are wanting in the comments, how about a new subscription model? new free downloadable content. better UI and new software updates that resolve compatibility issues. a better market with more promotions and offers on the eShop. more software's that can help Wii U be a better Entertainment hardware. showing the possibilities of the use of the Gamepad which is the only exclusive feature the Wii U has compared to it's competitors, to the public. explaining to all those 100 mill Wii users why they should be investing in a Wii U.

Re: Expansion of Nintendo Selects Range Confirmed for Europe

PJR0cks

although the majority of people here had a Wii prior to owning a Wii U, I'm not one of them and to be able to play a catalog of some of the finest games made by Nintendo in the last decade was one of the reasons why I purchased Wii U, but the backward compatibility doesn't work with the gamepads off TV play which is one of the features I love about Wii U, so I hope they can somehow bring these games to the Wii U gamepad.

Re: Satoru Iwata Speaks Of The Need To "Redefine" Nintendo's Position In The Entertainment Industry

PJR0cks

@DarkKirby
You are exactly right, if Nintendo had given us something that has 80% of PS4's power, no one with be upset now, but he gave a hardware that by comparison has a weaker CPU then consoles that have been around for close to a decade (PS3). what the hell was this guy thinking? and you can all say that it doesn't matter, but you won't be saying this once it takes its toll on future first party games. (Case and point MK8 missing game pad use as a separate screen in local multiplayer)

Re: Satoru Iwata Speaks Of The Need To "Redefine" Nintendo's Position In The Entertainment Industry

PJR0cks

I think some people here are confused, the negative comments here doesn't mean that people are not interested in Nintendo trying out new things, it's about Nintendo's latest console being branded as a failure by the gaming community and instead of Nintendo addressing that, they are ignoring it and talking about future products. now if this guy wants to keep on ignoring this subject maybe Nintendo should create a QOL department, put him as the head in that department, and hire a new guy to address the issues on the gaming consoles and try to increase the sales on Wii U and realize that people have spent money on this console and expect Nintendo to behave responsibly and somehow better their VIDEO GAMING experience through the Wii U..

Re: Satoru Iwata Speaks Of The Need To "Redefine" Nintendo's Position In The Entertainment Industry

PJR0cks

as soon as the XBOX sales showed they are falling behind in the competitions they acted, they changed the guy who led the XBOX team and he's constantly talking about how he will get XBOX back to the top, on the other hand we have this guy who has barley even mentioned any real way as to bring back the Wii U sales up again, instead he has pretty much already moved to his next project, DUDE Wii U is not an 8 year old console, what are you giving us???

Re: Satoru Iwata Speaks Of The Need To "Redefine" Nintendo's Position In The Entertainment Industry

PJR0cks

I'm sorry to see some people see Wii U as a failure, it might have failed commercially but I personally really like my Wii U, I love the game pad, sad to see all this ingenuity going down the drain because of Iwata cutting back on the hardware to make more profit, or not working closer with 3rd parities and spending more on marketing. He is at fault here, and he ruined a machine that could have changed the gaming industry. don't get my wrong here I'm gonna continue to enjoy my console, but it's a shame that a lot of people will miss out on the fun just for his ignorance.

Re: Nintendo To Market Mario Kart 8 Through The End Of The Year

PJR0cks

I think you are getting too much excited over this, can marketing MK8 sell Wii U's? of course it can, hell I bought a Wii U just for MK8, but does this mean that MK8 will turn Wii U into a success, Doubtful. the truth is when getting down to it the major problem with Wii U isn't the name or it's marketing (which are both 2 of the reasons why it's in this mess), the problem is the hardware, it just doesn't do what PS4 and XBOX One can do, and this is what it comes to in the long run, Nintendo titles are much stronger then Sony and Microsoft, but they aren't as strong as all the third party titles Wii U will be missing in the next couple of years. I just hope they put all the effort they can and get sales to a point where it can be compared to Game Cube, beyond that is just wishful thinking.

Re: NPD Results Bring Solid 3DS Numbers as Wii U Struggles

PJR0cks

Is funny how everyone expects MK8 to carry the weight of numerous third party games that won't be released on the Wii U in the coming years, just face it besides some hardcore Nintendo Fans and some who will eventually upgrade their Wii to Wii U, there is no room left in the market for WiiU, the sooner you realize this the better. I personally went ahead and bought a WiiU just recently, I was fully aware of the drought in terms of new games, but I considered MK8 to be enough of a reason to buy one, but that's just me.
