I hope this is a success and other studios will start making their games too Production value for making 16-bit games now are very little, so the main expense would be in the design and manpower, which for this kinds of projects can find the peak of it's expertise.
Grhm, I've got so mixed feelings about this. Looks too wacky in a bad way, also it just seems to be following the trends of most liked dlc-game genres and slamming an unimaginative zoroark as the main character (not to mention the super terrifying enemy stones). But it seems to have a lot borrowed from Zelda (another unimaginative trait that's off putting, but might be a promise of something worthwhile) and the game seems to be made with nice care. Price isn't bad, so if the promises are kept, the game should be one of the eShop's best. But it really looks cheap, wacky and cardboardy.
@6. Joco84 Totally. I'd change those stupid "jewel games" and "that 80's feel" garbage to the Wii shop's categorizing system any day. It's so obvious that they're trying to attach appealing ideas to shovel games that lack them.
since 2008 we've had a tradition of gaming sessions, taking place a few times a year. 5-10 people playing 3-5 days! These are hilarious events... 3 Wiis, 4 TVs, PS3 and a room full of old consoles and DSs. I beat the Pokemon Colosseum XD in one 50 hour sitting we've had notorious Mario Party tournaments. Not to mention the obvious worldly conditions caused by such a marathon. We should get web cams and start a charity fund raiser event of it...
The label of "home console" indicates that you need a room for playing: to house the console itself, to have a media for video and audio output, provide the electricity and make it comfortable to play it.
Apparently the issue about Wii U not being a home console is the portable screen with it's own power source. I suppose this could be called hybrid or dual media console or something on the same lines...
I remember the golden last year of high school... I had Gameboy micro with Wario ware in it, and it passed hand to hand between classes (and during them) and after every day I found my records beaten I miss those days.
My little bro got this for christmas present. He finished it before new year. I love the art style too, I remember doing a little comic of this back in the day. Sadly, our dog ate the cartridge, so I really welcome this download!
The darn dog also ate Sword of Mana and chewed a gamecube controller chord :/
Hehehe, I was a teenager when I got the Gamecube. Before the release I rode my bike 20km to another town to try the Luigi's Mansion for a minute or two It was totally worth it, and the way back was fast since I was completely taken by what I had seen. But boy were those times hard for Nintendo-gamers... Kids' games, poor graphics and all that, I even got smirks from adult people who said that xbox is the only way to go! It's all candy and cotton after Wii and DS I tell ya.
I have The Lost Ark. Played until I got to the fabled "Other continent" through very tedious shipping episodes that made my hands hurt because of stupid controls. When I very finally made it to a spot where the screen didn't scroll further, I thought I'd made it through. Instead, I don't know if it was a boss or a random foe, a Poseidon appeared. It used "wrath of the seas" and wiped out my party with one blow. I said OK and ripped the cartridge out from my GBA without turning the power off and never played the game since.
I didn't play these games in warm and fuzzy arcade times, so unfortunately I don't have the mothers eyes while judging this baby. I felt kind of insulted to play this game and it gave me a good laugh. I respect the people who like it though
Humm. I don't want to sound like a storm crow, but 1 after it's release europe will have... two mario games and a handful of remakes for 3DS's 1st party games? I guess it could be worse, but even Gamecube had SSBM...
Looks like it's going to be just like Wii: play an old Zelda game and move to playing virtual console games for a year or two until the games you're waiting for are out.
It kind of feels like 3DS is launching now, since it hasn't had any (as in not actually even one) real effort on first party games. Let's see how this rolls out when people have a game to play with the console!
That's too much Today I was at a game store and saw a very old cartridge for possibly Sega saturn titled "Burger time" and thought what the heck kind of a game that must be. Now I come here and see that the deluxe version is out.
@6 me, whoops, I completely forgot the Lords of Shadow which is a pretty nice 3D castlevania! Although lacks a lot of original atmosphere with epic themes and loss of groovy synth music
Castlevania hasn't yet done the metroid into 3D. Following Primes would create another type of metroidvania
Judgement is a godawful game, but it gives a good laughter. It's totally ridiculous! Despite being barely playable, I played the whole thing through twice with out friends + vs. matches, which actually make it to about a 100hrs of playtime, and would sound like a loved game.
I hope 3DS gets something as awesome as Dawn of Sorrow was for the DS... My favorites are the unlinear DSvanias.
I think the designers are dumfounded with Kirby's design possibilities and wide range of existing themes. But like the huge role of Kirby characters in Super smash bros brawl storyline, the series should take steps ahead before the audience does, to avoid numbing.
@15. daznsaz I'm not 100% sure, but my pokemon didn't start coming until I viewed some AR-markers. And yeah, also only until certain point, so I guess it's got to do with the AR-markers somehow...
@1. MasterGraveheart considering the size of the game, most of it must be the 3D-models of the pokemon and their animations. I guess having over 600 instead of what it is now would take almost three or four times more data ...not that it's a problem for me, but it's not an updatey thing really
I have a very foggy memory of my first N64 experience. I was a little boy maybe 8 years old. We had a Super Nintendo but I wasn't thinking too much about the games other than what we owned. I remember it was a dark room with many people, maybe on a ship! I remember my parents were a somewhere else and there were intriguing and also scary things around, until I saw a screen with Mario's face. Someone was fiddling the controller, and when they saw my face they kindly gave the controller to me. Now remember, I played the first area with the bombs and was frustrated of how difficult it was to maneuver 3D-jumping Didn't think too much back then, for all I knew that could've been the only machine with that game in the world! I played Mario 64 at our relatives maybe year/years later and had a silent "ohhh this". Writing that now felt like a brain excavation
Imagine this: Pokemon snap with new pokemon and routes! Wouldn't be too much of a hassle to pull off. If they just take core of what N64 Snap was, throw in some hundred more of critters and about double the courses. As big as the 3DS cartridge is, it's almost be the as OoT with included master quest. The original Snap was quite a breeze that only took a few hours to complete if you knew what you're doing...
But that would be the new content that would make a Snap remake worth buying, OoT was just the first interesting first party game so it was bought a mass. I doubt Starfox 3D will be such a success, specially with old players, because of lack of new content.
I was puzzled about the controller the first time I used it. I remember reaching over from the left side to the stick to play Mario 64, it took me a day or two realize I can place my hand on the middle shaft (yup, I was young and too immersed in the actual game to think about the controller... I wonder if anyone else did this...)
SO nostalgic, I was shocked to realize it's 15 years old I remember when all I played was Pokemon Silver and Ocarina of Time... So cool times! While reading about all the games in here, I remembered the gaming magazines... And pokemon cards. And Pokemon stadium. And lickitung eating sushi.
SUch nice memories... I remember the day we bought the gba with my brother and dad it was the light blue, slightly see-through one with the Mario game at release. Graphics were so great, and the startup screen is welded in my memory. I plowed through the Mario on my grandparent's couch and grandad says "you can't see anything of that screen" I have maybe 30 cartridges now, haven't counted. Most fond memories are of Metroid Fusion, Tony hawks 2, Super star saga, Mario Kart super circuit, pokemon sapphire...
Come on! Outside Japan release, oh please. Pretty good at the language tho, but if this game has that famous riddling and pantering of Phoenix Wright games it would be a hassle.
I still remember when I first read the news about this game, I immediately called my friend who told the people in the room and I heard a "WOW" through the phone other friend I called just said "yeah, I know, I'm reading about it atm"
With all the problems big Ns had with 3DS, it made me think that it's all drama. Nintendo knew it was losing it's "core player audience" and street cred with Wii and puppy nursing. Wii along with Nintendo was now the rich guy in the neighborhood and cool kid's don't relate to that. So 3DS came along, big hubbub, more than promising hardware and lots of anticipation. When it finally was released it "didn't really have good games" and "is not doing as well as expected", and was reduced to a what I would call Peter Parker. A kid with only the few friends, lost potential and a wide appeal to average Joe as the main character. The future might bring the spider bite in form of some brilliant games (coming for the holiday season), and people can cheer with the 3DS as it flings itself to the night to do awesome stuff nobody expected the young Parker to be able to do. This might all be a well written story, just saying...
Still don't believe, I think I won't believe it until I use one. It all seems quite... Bonkers. Although, Wii got a crazy array of wacky add-ons, it's just this is the first one we get on the 3DS it feels like a slap on the face.
