Re: Features: Don't Touch my Samus: Metroid's Controversial Turn

Omenapoika

Thank you! I thought the whole world was joined against me and Other M.

The first Metroid I played was the Fusion, so as you said, the caring kind of Samus the player could get into was the first I ever encountered (well except for Smash bros. but I wasn't expecting to know the character from it...). In my opinion Fusion is clearly the best Metroid game and the best Gameboy Advance game, being in my top favorite games. So I was overjoyed by the Samus in Other M, which so finely bound together two games I love: Super Metroid and Fusion.

After finishing the game I ran merrily to the internet forums to join hands with fellow fans and celebrate the victorious return of our heroine, but everyone was moping and bellyaching. Almost everyone from critics to casual opinion givers were ranting and openly disliking the new game I had enjoyed. It was a genuine surprise for me.
It's far from perfect, but it's more than fit to be an example of a successful game.

There shouldn't be an outrage from emotionally sapped tidal wave of sexist hairyhands who are insulted by being forced to play their favorite game with a character they can relate to.

Re: This Safe Sex Video Owes a Surprising Amount to Mario and Mega Man

Omenapoika

Abstinence is just silly. I dare not say stupid and dangerous because that might insult someone. It's ok as long as it's one's personal way of not having sex, but it should not harm other people's lives by not teaching kids about sex and contraception. Everybody (well, it seems almost everybody) will or wants to have sex and if they don't know what they're up to, it might end up in stds, abortions and various atrocious activities.
On the other hand, if people know their way about it, people can enjoy the natural closeness of sex and live a full life with it. Without an increased risk of prostate cancer, heart disease, stress and depressive behavior which are caused by lack of sexual activity.

All the activity aimed for healthier and meaningful life gets my thumbs up!

Re: Make What You Will of this BIT.TRIP FLUX Teaser Image

Omenapoika

Aww, the Bit.Trip. series has awesome advertisement
My theory is, that the game is kind of like proceed/dodge/rhythmic/hectic thing (like all the others...) but this is like going to the core of the sphere by constantly moving inside the sphere's internal space and dodging obstacles.
There!

Re: There May Never Be Another Smash Bros. as Hardcore as Melee

Omenapoika

That is really funny thing to say, but I suppose that I'm one of "the players who played deep into the game without problems". Yeah, I bet it's hard to think that the game is hard if you had no problems to play it through. I think it's one of the best games on Gamecube in terms of inviting challenge.

Re: If Donkey Kong Country Returns is Too Hard, Use Super Guide

Omenapoika

I read the headline like "If Donkey Kong Country Returns..." "Hmm, wasn't it decided already?"

Yeah, being able to finish a game has become a standard part of gaming experience, so they should have the guide in order to have happy customers. Everybody's a newbie at some point, and Nintendo is having a generation on them.

Re: Super Meat Boy May Skip WiiWare and Head to Retail

Omenapoika

At first I was like damn and meh. But then I got the thought of having the super meat boy on a disc instead of taking it's fair 1/6 or 1/5 of Wii's internal memory. AND having some sweet extras to boost it's consumer value to the already kind hearted 20 currency counters.

I'd definately go in for the kill!
(+having it on a disc would make it seem like Wii is the "actual" platform for the game ;3)

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Omenapoika

Haha, I remember seeing this in the E3 show when it aired. When I saw the goddess familiar from SSBB, I was like "Pitt! Kid Icarus!" and then: "Sorry to keep you waiting!"... Man, I was smiling from ear to ear. While eating my tuna.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Omenapoika

I have OoT for N64, it came as a bonus with my copy of Wind Waker and I have the Classic collection disc for GC. If I buy this one it would be my fourth!
At first I thought "what the heck, big N?" why on earth would they do that? They had recently released it in VC too. But of course there is and always will be a "new generation" of players, who will appreciate this piece of golden gaming history. That said, games are a bit like plays in terms of defining them as art. Since a remake is the same story with different components, like a play can be performed differently theater to theater.
In this case, you can't overlook the graphic enhancement, which seems to be pretty much the point of this remake. It stirs me a bit that Link's nose won't be the shape of a pyramid and Redead's faces flat as the windows of the Temple of Time, since that's the way I'm used to seeing them. It's a part of the 3D-revolution, I suppose. Those details might not have anything to do with 3D, but in the context, making a loved classic all over again is a statement. It's like Nintendo gaming has packed it's bags and moved to a new apartment, ready to make the best of the new environment.
These things are what made me see that this game really is worth doing and playing. It's Nintendo's homely "Good morning" to the dawn of 3DS.
I went a bit deep there, but if one should go deep, it's when OoT gets a serious remake on a revolutionary console.

Re: Poképark Wii Coasts into Europe on 9th July

Omenapoika

@consolepoke-conversation: Yeah, I recently played through the XD. It took me 30hrs and at least 20 of them was spent tapping A to skim the battles, it was so boring it was exhausting.
I just don't realize why they couldn't make a decent pokémon game on a home console after stadiums... I mean the colosseum and xd kind of pass as games, but PBR?? that's garbage. Well, pokémon snap wasn't all bad either. But there's so much more that could be made. I've kind of given up the hope, and this Park thing doesn't look like it's going to turn the lameness around.
(but I can totally see myself painstakingly playing through the pokepark wishing to find something to make my poke-veins pulse...)

Re: Triple Trouble in this New Pokemon Black & White Trailer

Omenapoika

Yargh, my situation is going to get kinky : D
I will start my exchange in Japan 2011-2012 next spring... Maybe I should import the japanese one to get to know the language even better. But I might lose some of the game to concentrating on the language... And I would know all the new pokemon by their japanese names :E But when the english one is released, I might already be in Japan, so I'd need to import it anyway.

Re: Reggie Confirms 3DS is Coming Next Year

Omenapoika

I'm turbo excited about the 3ds, so I'm kind of disappointed to have to wait for it.
The clip of the show was a bit bizarre, the audience was going nuts over the 3ds and the host just stood there for a minute saying "oh my... oh... wow...".

Re: The Nintendo Era is Over, Tweets Former Final Fantasy Scribe

Omenapoika

Really? The pad sold over 2 million units? I haven't paid any attention to it after I heard about it's launch. Just seemed like a silly fad from the start. Well, by all I know about apple, it is.
People may speculate, but I just can't figure out Kato's thoughts on this one. How is this media browsing tool going to compete with DS? Somebody please enlighten me.

Re: Nintendo's Room Migration Kit Makes it Even Easier to Move a Wii

Omenapoika

I have a Wii of my own, one at my brother's, and many at my friends' places. It is so comfortable to just take your Wii, if you happen to have those saves or downloaded games you need for the night, go to the other household, unplug the other and simply set your own up instead. No hassle with wires. AND a Wii almost fits into a pocket of a jacket, which it wouldn't with the cables. I think this assortment of wires is a pretty handy thing to have, if you find yourself taking your wii from one place to another.

Re: Review: Monster Hunter 3 (Tri~) (Wii)

Omenapoika

dangit, that seems so cool. This far I've been able to keep away from these time gobbling multiplayer online games, but this looks awesome. Luckily I have my hands full of Pokémon heart gold and a Miles Edgeworth sitting on my desk waiting it's turn. And Mario and Samus chillin' in the summer breeze.
If this game had come in a more quiet time, I would've jumped on it.

Re: WiiWare Phoenix Wright Makes Most Of Wii Remote

Omenapoika

Awwwwwesome. I so feel like some Phoenix Wright after the commercial. But I already have all of the games on DS, so I won't be getting the WiiWare versions... But this is a great chance for those who've not attended the court sessions yet, everybody enjoy!

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)

Omenapoika

Aww man. There's again the "centarl dungeon" that pretty much ruined the otherwise perfectly ok PH. But according to the review, it seems a lot better (or even enjoyable!). I like Zelda, and there's no way I'd give this a pass, but there's also the Bowser's inside story, which one now and which one later?

Re: Phoenix Wright Series Coming To WiiWare

Omenapoika

WOW. I got so hyped, but they're the same games... But they're too goddamn awesome, the one's who haven't yet delved into the world of Objection!s and Take that!s should definetly do it now!
In my oppinion, the second best game series ever made, the crown jewel of king Capcom.

Re: Feast Your Eyes On This Castlevania: ReBirth Footage

Omenapoika

Wow. As long as I've played Castlevania games, I've liked them. I had never concidered that people could have doubts on them being awesome, but this is the first time a Castlevania game has really caused discussion like this. It's almost a shock to see people complaining. It's true that I too am a bit disappointed that this is not like the DSvanias nowadays, but the old ones rock so hard too. This is such an essential purchase that I don't need to think about it.

Re: Ubisoft: The DS Salad Days Are Over

Omenapoika

"We made puppydog games and they aren't selling. Ouch, DS isn't doing so well after all!"

I'm boycotting Ubisoft because of their bribery towards critics and hostility towards critics who dare to give them low scores. Goddamn slaughter.

Re: Trent Reznor Big Fan of Nintendo

Omenapoika

With the graphics, I think he's talking about the brain filling the gaps. For example if there's a picture of a guy with a spoon full of porridge, and a next picture with the same guy with an empty spoon and bulging cheeks, there's no mistaking of what's happened. And if these pictures are well done, they're probably better and more effective than most attempts to describe the whole system of the spoon travelling in and out of the mouth.

Re: Nintendo Trademarks "The Last Story"

Omenapoika

It might be a new console. It would continue the recent trend of oddball names like Wii, so the next one is a phrase: The Last Story.
It's called the last because it'll be so good that no more consoles will be bought after it. And Nintendo has the test facilities in which they have tested it's success. So Nintendo is rady to take over the world with a new console that will end all consoles.
"Hi Mitch have you played TLS?"
"... I'm living it, go away..."

Re: Wii "Most Reliable Console of This Generation"

Omenapoika

Every Nintendo console I have, except for the old Gameboy (but it's speaker hasn't worked since 1998), have had at least one tilt. My snes works great, N64 rolls on (the control stick is loosening, but as I know them, it's a wonder it's still playable), Gamecube has no problems. My Wii has tilted a couple of times, and once with a Nyko GC memory card of 251 blocks it wiped the memory clean and hasn't recognised it since. My cube still uses it fine. All in all, the home consoles are doing fine, haven't even needed fixing.

My GB has lost it's battery cover (common, eh), GBC was in my pocket when I fell in the atlantic ocean and that was the end of it (and my pokemon gold+shiny noctowl...). GBA SP is lost. Gameboy micro has got over 5 dead pixels. DS lite's shoulder buttons didn't work after a year of use! And it tilted about 20 times in numerous games.

My most reliable consoles so far are: SNES, GC and the fat DS (now in my friend's hard use and taking it well).

Re: Competitions: Flipnote Studio - Amazing Giveaway

Omenapoika

Another, getting better. I suppose you don't mind multiple entries : P

Re: Review: Pokémon Red and Blue (Game Boy)

Omenapoika

I was 11... I have probably dozens of brain cells dedicated ONLY for this game, it has imprinted on my mind. Most infuential and emotional game I know. Technically Silver is better, but still amazingly awesome.

Re: Competitions: Flipnote Studio - Amazing Giveaway

Omenapoika

Yet another, but this time I overdid myself ^^ please enjoy!

Re: Competitions: Flipnote Studio - Amazing Giveaway
