Yesterday, just hours before the new Wonderful 101 Kickstarter campaign went live, PlatinumGames opened a mysterious 'Platinum4' website. With a large, swirly number 4 and little else, the page left us with more questions and theories than we knew what to do with, but things are now starting to make a little more sense.
Loading up the page now reveals four star-shaped icons, just like the star in the company's logo. Three of them are a dull grey in colour, but one is shining brightly with 'TW101R KS' written underneath, referencing 'The Wonderful 101 Remastered Kickstarter'.
Naturally, then, it's pretty safe to assume that the other three stars will soon light up, too, presumably revealing more new games. Your guess is as good as ours for these at the moment, so we thought we'd open up a poll to see what you think.
Perhaps one will be the upcoming Bayonetta 3, which still hasn't received its grand reveal yet? Perhaps one could be Babylon's Fall, the action game being made in partnership with Square Enix? Or perhaps they could be something else entirely, like a juicy Switch port of Nier: Automata, an Astral Chain 2, or a sequel to Hideki Kamiya's Okami? Over to you:
Feel free to expand upon your answers in the comments below. This sure is shaping up to be an exciting time for PlatinumGames fans, huh?

They said they want to make a sequel to Okami... that’s probably a pretty big hint. Scalebound seems likely to me as well
With the announcement that Daemon X Machina is getting released on PC, I wonder if that mesans Astral Chain might also get the same treatment?
Would love an Okami 2 though.
With Vanquish coming to PS4 & Xbox One in the near future, I'd very much like to see it land on Switch as well. Doubt this will warrant a reveal as one of the four titles though.
Switch ports don't exactly count as new games, but if W101 sets the precedent, then it's tempting to wish for Nier Automata as well (on top of the other titles two of which remain G7-locked and two more seemingly require quite a damn rig to emulate - but all four of them are beyond Platinum's involvement unless SE commissions remakes). I'd welcome Vanquish and a revived Scalebound, too. Okami 2 needs no welcome to begin with.
Bayonetta 3 on Switch, though, is old news no matter how you look at it. And speaking of the poll items, why compare a possible Star Fox entry to Zero when Platinum were involved with Guard instead?
Hope they are new games/IPs. A Kickstarter for a port of an old game isn't that exciting IMO.
the wonderful 102-104
I just want Bayonetta 3
I'd guess Bayonetta 3, Vanquish 2 (Vanquish is getting a remaster this month on PS4/XB1) and Nier 3. If this is just for newly announced projects then swap Bayonetta 3 with a new IP.
If they're doing ports, I'd absolutely love to see Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on Switch. They've already ported it once, so that makes me quite hopeful. Perhaps 2 ports, 2 new IPs. That'd be preeeeety sweet
If they are all to be crowd funded, I'd assume to last one to be revealed would be a brand new IP.
Likewise, if these are really the -PLATINUM- 4, they might shy away from any IP they do not own, ruling out something like Nier, but possibly opening up for bringing back Madworld.
@ROBLOGNICK I doubt Astral Chain will come to other platforms. Unlike W101, the game sold well to justify Nintendo holding on to it. In the case of DxM, It was never Nintendo's IP in thr first place and I'm guessing it was just a timed exclusive.
I’d love a new okami but more so a new viewtiful joe.
Maybe Platinum is going to do a complete 180 of their usual crazy action style and try their hand at a more subdued genre making a remastered port of Eternal Darkness. That, or a polished port of Star Fox Zero. The more I make outlandish theories the more likely one of them can come true.
I'd like to see them trying a good new rpg, of course with a nice platinum twist to it. Come on, they are hugely creative with characters, art and scenarios, it would come out nothing short of amazing. (looking at Okami with cheerful eyes)
@nhSnork Platinum co-developed Star Fox Zero with Nintendo. 🙂
A delicious stack of pancakes.
@ryancraddock the more you know, thanks.
Infinite Space remaster?
Madworld maybe?
I dunno.
@LankyMikStanky I started replaying Metal Gear Rising recently and realised that I cannot think of a game with a better opening level. It's just the best kind of ridiculous.
Bit sad that the poll has forgotten Infinite Space. That was a funny old game; I really loved the idea but struggled to get into it. But if they did a new one I'd give it another shot!
@ILoveToLove Loved Madworld. The musics are fantastic. Very underrated game.
People voted for Scalebound, really? That game is dead and buried by now. The source material isn't even available anymore, and all parties involved have said multiple times that it isn't going to be revived in any way, shape or form.
As for what it actually could be, that's anyone's guess, but personally,
I wouldn't mind seeing an HD version of Mad World, or a sequel. And something from the Viewtiful Joe series, but that's a bit of a different story, since that's not really a PlatinumGames IP, but a Capcom/Clover Studios owned one. I don't know what happened to the rights of those games when the people from Clover left Capcom to form PlatinumGames.
Vanquish is a pretty cool game as well, which more people should get to know, so that would also be a nice candidate for a remake or a sequel.
My guess is the site will feature kick-started self-published ports like Nier Automata and maybe an all-new IP or sequel. AAA titles like Bayonetta 3 seem too big to fit here.
I wouldn’t mind more studios doing the same. Like if Sega had a boutique offering tricky or licensed ports they’re reluctant to do on their own like Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon Saga, or some of their arcade gems. Fund ‘em if you want ‘em!
You people know that Bayonetta 3 is already happening for Nintendo Switch?
A port of Starfox Zero to Switch, finally rid of all the gameplay nonsense.
Assuming these are platinum owned ip it seems likely that Madworld, Anarchy Reigns and something else are on the cards.
I think one of the games will be in the MadWorld : Anarchy Reigns series
Okami is IP of Capcom and not of Platinum, right?
I think it'll be Bayonetta 3, Nier: Automata and maybe a new IP.
Though I think it's likely that Bayonetta 3 will be the big finish which would steal the thunder from a new IP (unless it's super impressive)
What I’m hoping for: Transformers Devastation 2, Metal Gear Rising 2 and Vanquish 2.
What it is: Probably none of the above.
I voted for a Nier Automata port, but I’m honestly not so sure the Switch could do that game justice. It ran like crap on my PS4 at some points.
Amazing game though. And that soundtrack is the besssst.
Infinite Space HD.
If you rearrange the letters in platinum 4 into pitmunla and swap the T and U for a K and I respectively oh and remove the LA you solve the puzzle. Pikmin4 confirmed.
If they'd like a small addition for the Switch port of Automata, I'd like to suggest a joy-con fishing rod.
@ROBLOGNICK Have you played Okamidēn?
Babylon's Fall, Bayonetta 3, Nier: Automata - nope! All of them already announced/released and IPs ownded by partners.
Astral Chain 2, Okami 2, Star Fox (Zero), Vanquish 2 - nope! All IPs owned by partners. Maybe Platinum managed to buy some IP from Capcom/SEGA, but I think it's unlikely.
Scalebound - why not?
Entirely new IP - for sure. They said, they'd like to own their own IPs. And if they want to self-publish, that's one of two possibilities (the other one is to license something).
Something else - could be. See above the license thing.
Why do they need Kickstarters?
Are they not a real company?
I'm really hoping for Scalebound and Okami 2. I can definitely see myself contributing to kickstart those two.
A new Star Fox or new IP would also be welcomed.
Platinum4 is a repeat of Capcom5.

@Franklin
Why use your own money when there are all those suckers out there...
Metal Gear Rising Revenge with all DLC.
Bayonetta 3
Vanquish 2
Transformers Devastation with all DLC
Some people worked on Viewtiful Joe but capcom owns the rights but i would love the see Viewtiful Joe 1&2 on consoles again it was my fave gamecube game.
Maybe they have taken over the works of Pikmin 4?
So just ports?
How about some new games.
@beazlen1 Truly you have a dizzying intellect.
Okami 2. Okami 2. Okami 2. Okami 2.
...come on, please.
STAR FOX ZERO deserves another chance, without the forced Wii U Gamepad integration by Nintendo.
Re-work the game for standard controls and add some more stages + multiplayer.
@ROBLOGNICK nintendo owns astral chain ip so not going to happen on other systems.
@RiasGremory Source please.
Nintendo only published Astral Chain. We don't know if that means they own the IP.
@readalie No, is that the DS game?
Hopefully Nier Automata!
@ROBLOGNICK nintendo owns 50% of the ip so nintendo is not going to give it up to other systems.
https://nintendoeverything.com/astral-chain-owned-half-by-platinum-and-half-by-nintendo-up-to-nintendo-for-release-on-other-platforms-was-a-big-success/
I'd personally like to see Nier, an Okami sequel of some sort, and a new IP. But really, who can say?
@NoTinderLife
Crap, you beat me to it!
Yep, this has Capcom 5 written all over it. And we all remember how that went.
@Impaler-D is be interested in buying it again without the Wii U controls.
It was such a burden to play that I went through it once and felt exhausted by the idea of doing it again.
@Pod I forgot about mad world. That was such a good game
I could possibly see Scalebound happening. Perhaps not in its original form though.
I doubt we'll see anything like Nier come to Switch (or at least as part on the '4').
Perhaps Mad World or Vanquish (I'm sure Sega would play nicely for a percentage or a buy out of an IP they're doing nothing of note with).
I'd expect that another of the four will be from an IP we know, and the other two to be new IP.
Scalebound all the way on Microsoft and Nintendo console. This game seems so good!!!
They expressesd a desire to make a battle royal game a while back, and Anarchy Reigns would translate into one perfectly. I think this will happen.
I think Nintendo is never finished with Star Fox. Ignoring the Wii, Star Fox has made an appearance on every console since the Gamecube and made a bonus appearance on the SNES Mini with Star Fox 2. I’d imagine Platinum could be in development of a new Star Fox Game. If they are, I do hope it’s on the more wild side, akin to the old rumours of Star Fox Racing.
I would like a Mad World remaster for switch.
Somebody explain why is star fox one of the games on here? Just a random name or some relevance to platinum??
Maybe one of them is their new IP "unlike anything else":
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/05/bayonetta_3s_design_process_will_be_different_to_past_titles_says_platinumgames_inaba
It's also possible they're collaborating with SNK on something.
@ROBLOGNICK Yup! It’s absolutely wonderful. Smaller than the original game but a very worthy successor. Also, you play as the cutest puppy ever to grace to games industry.
Is it telling that hardly anyone mentioned Babylon's Fall?
Bayonetta 3 is so obvious that I hesitated to vote for it.
Platinum getting free license to crowdfund W101 indicates they have a good relationship with Nintendo, and as far as anyone knows, they followed instructions for Star Fox Zero's design pretty closely, so the sales weren't on them. I'd love to see them get more freedom with a new Star Fox title, and a cinematic rail shooter seems right up their alley.
Out of everything else... played it safe and went with "Something else", which I will propose to be something off the wall. I thought of Vanquish for Switch, or Vanquish 2, because of the recent ports, but I imagine there's at least one new project they're keeping under wraps with this mysterious announcement.
Whatever it is, it's just a bit more excitement to add to this year.
@judaspete Have you played Anarchy Reigns? It already is a battle royal game! Its a great game too. I would love to see a sequel on Nintendo Switch.
A hope more than a prediction: Nier, StarFox, a new IP.
I would love to see a Call of Duty port, but that probably won't happen.
