Re: Video: The State Of Nintendo Switch Two Years After Its Release

Nater

@blecch I got them both RX 580 PCs for Xmas. the older boy has almost moved exclusively to Fortnite on that. Younger can't get used to the KB/Mouse, so he'll sit there on the Switch and play instead. smdh
Now if only I could get them to watch their YouTube garbage on their PCs and shut the Switches down to save on the wear and tear.

And we've been down the tablet road... They don't make any durable enough for my kids. 😃

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Hit By Largest Drop In Two Years After Nvidia Shares Crash

Nater

Nvidias issues have nothing to do with the Switch IMO. The RTX launch is a dumpster fire, and they have lost their edge in the mid-range. They're new price structure has A LOT of the PC Master race sitting on the sidelines waiting for AMD/Navi, RTX 2.0, and prices to come back down.

And yeah, I'm probably buying 2 or 3 RX 580's for Xmas, as my kids are migrating from the Switch to PC it seems.

Re: Guide: How Cloud Saves Work In Nintendo Switch Online

Nater

I'm less and less excited, more and more annoyed.

Play Zelda on my profile. Save and close. Remove cartridge. Put cartridge in another Switch, play Zelda on my profile, load last save from the game I was just playing on the other Switch

Why can't it work like this?

Multi switch household is a constant sibling/dad gamer fight over who gets to play what. lol. I refuse to buy multiple copies of single player games.

Re: Guide: Everything Announced In Yesterday's Nintendo Direct

Nater

I'm more and more realizing I'm still part of the PC Master Race. So much of what I loved of Nintendo in the past isn't even rumored to be coming.

Where's remasters of Chrono Trigger? LoZ: Link To The Past? Earthbound? Double Dragon? Duck Hunt? (I want a light gun! NOT NES controllers) Or some sequels at least?

No Switch Sports? A Punch Out game?

Whatever happened to Mortal Kombat?

How bout we fix Fortnite so you can actually logout?

Can we get some AI in Mario Kart so you can actually win when you're the fastest driver?
I used to set records on SNES and I lost to my 9 year old yesterday. Endlessly getting hit by red shells. lol

I'm sure I'll get roasted... But somebody has to be with me on this no?

Re: These New Nintendo Switch Travel Cases Look Perfect For Every Situation

Nater

Super dumb design advertising what's inside. We've had this case (Zadii Hard Carrying Case Compatible with Nintendo Switch System, Travel Case Fit Switch Pro Controller https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JFY4JF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_v-8MBbVDWAN45), it holds the entire system, plus a second Switch power adapter. Second Switch is in a simple tablet neoprene case. The hardcase fills the bottom of a back pack nicely, and we fill it in(the backpack) with the other Switch, head phones, Switch battery (Anker I think?), phone chargers, etc. Made it through multiple 2000 mile trips. Works great.

@Moshugan

You should make individual accounts for each of your kids through https://accounts.nintendo.com/family and assign them Child Accounts and then make individual user profiles on the Switch consoles and link the proper Child Accounts to them. I don't get what the problem is with that?

^ I already did that from the get go. When we got the 2nd Switch though, I didn't understand that is how it worked. I was totally lost having to create another Nintendo account, so they got two NEW profiles under my wife's account. I'm sitting down right now to go through it all again, after having spent 3 hours on the phone w/ Microsoft this morning trying to get their GamerTags unblocked (a whole nother nightmare)

EDIT: Oh, I just realized that one kid will play a certain game on one console and then go on to play another game on a different console, and that's when they would have to log out on the first and log in on the second, and that's the hassle?

^ Yeah, a big hassle. Almost to the point where I was going to return the 2nd Switch. Hassle enough that's it's completely ruled out buying a 3rd Switch.

On the 3rd point, (sorry I don't know how to do quotes and such); um, isn't the eShop ALREADY DOING ONLINE AUTHENTICATION to purchase/re-download the game to begin with?

You telling me that's a one-time local memory write?

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

@Moshugan

That'd be cool if that's how it worked. But it doesn't. I opened a Nintendo Account. Added my two sons in the family group as members. Now there's a nickname, and a sign-in ID. So it's already confusing.

So we buy a second Switch because they were HEAVY into Zelda, as was I. That way the rest of us can play MarioKart, whatever on the 2nd Switch while one guy is getting his Zelda on.

Nope. Couldn't just sign into my Nintendo Account on the 2nd Switch without first logging it off the first Switch. What's the point of the "Family Member" profiles if you have to change over the ENTIRE account?

Had to make a second account using my wifes name, e-mail, credit card, etc. DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

Now throw in Nintendo Accounts, Member Nickname, Member Sign-In ID, and put some Xbox Live! account gamertags on top of it. FREAKING NIGHTMARE.

And yeah, for single play games, especially when we OWN THE PHYSICAL CARTRIDGE, it'd be nice if the "cloud save" made it seamless to switch (get it) between Switch consoles, hit your profile, start the game, and voila, you can pickup in Zelda (or whatever) right where you left off on the other console. But I severely doubt that's how well it will work, because well, that'd be logical and make sense and be the BEST use of saving to the cloud.

Also, yeah, on digital games, I don't like the idea of having to buy games twice just because one kid who wants to play might have the other switch. Buy it once = one instance open. I'm not asking to buy it once and have it playable on BOTH consoles simultaneously. In this household, it is KILLING their eShop sales to us. I'm a lot less likely to drop the coin because it's such an inconvenience to have to buy a game TWICE that's probably only ever going to get played on ONE console at any given time. So when they ask I just say no, everytime. Only exception has been MineCraft.

If they changed that, we'd probably be enjoying dozens of eShop games, but the fact I can't just pick-up a Switch and play the game I paid for, because one of the kids happens to have the Switch I bought it on....f' that noise.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Cloud Services Explained By Diablo III Associate Producer

Nater

Amen. If they'd make it work like Steam, with some sort of "network licensing" for digital downloads. (like you pay for one copy of a game, only one instance can be running at any given time, but it can be played on any Switch under the parent Nintendo account). Saves per profile show up on whichever Switch you happen to be on...

We'd probably buy ANOTHER Switch. Me + 3 kids. As it is, we've talked about selling the second one... The boys just end up playing split screen games instead, save for Fortnite.

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Cloud Services Explained By Diablo III Associate Producer

Nater

They gotta get this right. Being a two Switch household has been a nightmare. It's so difficult to move profiles and save games it might as well not be possible. Not to mention I can't have both consoles under ONE Nintendo account.

I have no problem buying games twice, but when only ONE kid wants to play it, but his brother happens to have the other Switch...ugh; and even if I do buy it again (digital) or buy physical (Zelda for example), none of his save data is there.
