We know, we know - the whole Dark Souls comparison thing is more overdone than that obliterated piece of toast you ruined this morning, but look... This really is like Dark Souls.
Everything from ANIMUS: Harbinger's opening sequence to its combat (all visible in the smartphone version trailer above) reminds us of From Software's grisly action-RPG, right down to the player character's familiar appearance. For all intents and purposes, the game appears to be a cheaper, portable take on the famous series, albeit with some key differences here and there.
To teach you a little more about it, here's a story introduction and feature list:
These are the days before Ire: Blood Memory, the days when Kerr the Breaker’s evil slipped its way into Cadmeia. You, Forlorn — follower of the Resonant, and caught out of time and place — are called upon by the shadow of the late King Cadmus to bring judgement to those that have betrayed the land. Only you can take on this duty, as you are forgotten, and those forgotten can never die, as they have truly never lived. Be the hand of deliverance and mercy to the afflicted. You will have no friend save for your trusty blade, axe, and hammer. Answer the call of this dead sovereign.
Game Features:
• Compact stage and boss fight game
• Main quests (21)
• Sidequests - Trial (12) / Proof (6) / Passage (random boss)
• Proficiency tree
• Skill shards
• Reinforcement system
• Farming equipment and materials
• Difficulty (3)
• Weapons, armour, and accessories of different types and attributes
The game's launching on Switch on 7th November and will be available for just $7.99, considerably less than Dark Souls: Remastered's retail price of $39.99.
Do you think this one might be worth picking up? Or would you rather play the full-fat experience now that it's available on Switch anyway? Let us know with a comment.

But wil you die 40 billion times ?

yay! another mobile game for switch, complete with the mobile trailer for your viewing pleasure.
@jagetron
I don't mind
As long as it doesn't have the mobile gaming wallet gouging mechanics.
Well, I'd be all for trying a Dark Souls game, but 40 euros/bucks are kinda too much for a small sample. If this gives you the same-ish experience, I can take a Diet Dark Souls anytime. Especially if the difficulty is more forgiving - think of it as "a gateway Dark Souls" if you will.
Game looks solid but it's like, $5 on mobile. Switch tax?
... but I already have Dark Souls.
@alexsora89 Just jump into the real thing, man. It's well-polished, beautifully designed, and original.
@barefootbowser . Yeah, me too
This looks painful; hard just to read that features list!
People should just grabs Dark Souls. It truly is a masterpiece.
Always great to see NL comparing a F2P Mobile clone (with 3/5 starts on the AppStore) to a classic. Get what you pay for... get DS. The price gets you real console games on the GO.
"...available for just $7.99, considerably less than Dark Souls: Remastered's retail price of $39.99"
Or you know, if a fan of FromSoftware - try their new stuff like the brilliant Sekiro for $29 after done with DS on Switch 😉
@aznable
And hard enough to possibly end up being unenjoyable. That's the problem, I might actually use this indie as an entry point. But I see where you're coming from.
@AlexSora89 "Hard" is relative, but I get you. However, the game never feels unfair - if you get killed, you done did something wrong.
@BarefootBowser Pretty surprised we haven't seen anymore remasters coming to switch I'm pretty sure the first dark souls remaster did pretty well.
I considered getting Dark Souls on Switch but the frame rate and performance quality is shameful considering games like doom were ported and run like a dream. I will wait on the reviews for this one.
I'm playing Dark Souls for the first time right now and enjoying it so much more than I ever imagined. I will probably buy every Dark Souls clone that comes to Switch, including this one.
I'm SUPER excited for Ashen as well.
@Jokerwolf I'm playing Dark Souls on my Switch Lite and it runs great. I'm at Anor Londo, so I'm fairly far into the game. Blighttown had some minor dips but nothing major like the original PS3 Dark Souls.
@sketchturner I was reading online that TV mode is horrible, and my experience with the demo did have some pretty bad frame issues. If it goes on for like 10$ I will get it.
Hold up. Didnt this game already come out on switch last year? I swear I played it. I remember it being alright, and souls-ish. But definitely a cheap title.
Edit: Ok yeah, this is a sequel. Looks better, and I didnt regret the last $8. I'm down to throw another $8 down. Guess yall forgot https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/12/the_mobile_phone_equivalent_of_dark_souls_is_making_its_way_across_to_the_switch
I played the first one for around 10 hours on Switch, and it was such a slog. It was kinda fun at first, but turns into a grindfest for equipment fairly quickly.
@dougphisig This. I do not understand why at lest DS2 hasn´t been remastered.
Wonderful another mobile game coming to the Switch.
@Agramonte iconic Nintendo Switch game Sekiro
Mobiles incoming!!!!
Man even the sfx sound like ds lol
@Jokerwolf TV mode is fine, the game runs without issue. I’ve had a few hiccups in blight town- but nothing like the 360 version. Totally worth double dipping in my book. I’d buy ds2 again if it ran this well
Just.
Get.
DARK SOULS.
If you want a good experience similar to Dark Souls I can whole-heartedly recommend Salt & Sanctuary. It's really good and plays a lot like Dark Souls in 2D.
Just get dark souls, play it safe until you learn the game, then lose 1000s of hours of your life over multiple console generations.
The price of a game isnt really important. I rather wait and save for a good game than buy a couple of mediocre ones.
@Agramonte You realize that you can't call it a F2P game while also listing the price, right?
@aznable
I'll give it a shot, when I can.
@AlexSora89 Just remember that no matter how hard it gets, no matter how many times you not only lose your souls but then fail to get them back before dying again, no matter how stuck you get on those two golden bois in the cathedral, there are two important words that will get you through. Git gud.
@Kalmaro That is the Switch price. And every F2P games you can spend money on.
Rather pay more for high quality games on Switch than play Mobile clones (Free or $7 makes no difference)
@Agramonte I'm fine with mobile games if they are good. Games are games.
@aznable
Thank you Cranky Kong
