7/10. It's a good game, but not a good Metroid Prime game. It is way too linear, and it has the worst endgame key hunt of the series in the form of the green crystals. The chip system is really bad too.
Hey, this is a great list! I think you should add Glister Beetle to the list of missable scans. From what I can see, it's in a single room in the game (that you list), and after a certain point, it disappears due to Grievers taking over. I could be wrong, and it might be in another room, but I haven't been able to find it.
Edit: Apparently it's not missable, and it can be found in the same room where Fury Greens' Scout Bot is!
@Misima lol, no. You are the part of the group of tin foil hatters who think something cataclysmic will happen. If that ever happens, video games will be the least of our worries since they aren't a necessity for life.
@tourjeff If a license is taken away, do you have proof that people were not able to redownload a game if you have purchased it? For example, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is no longer available on the eShop, but if you downloaded it before it was taken down, you can redownload it at any time. Even with your example of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, even after it was delisted, people who purchased it before were still able to redownload it since it was in their history.
@Misima I guess, but once again, when you start bringing up cataclysmic events like that, video games are probably the last of your worries when you're unable to withdraw your money or purchase essentials.
@Misima .........anything electronic-wise would fry, and that includes consoles, so you wouldn't even be able to play cartridges (if they truly survive) anyway.
Also, if a big event like that were to happen, video games would be the last thing on everyone's mind.
@Metazoxan The other thing is, people need to realize that GKCs weren't a thing, would third party developers be more inclined to put their entire game on the cart? No, the only option for them would be digital only, and people would still be complaining.
People need to realize that the GKC is a choice for third party companies because they want to make as much of a profit as possible. It's not Nintendo's fault for providing this as an option, it the publisher's fault for choosing it.
@Kingy Because the Wii shop, so far, has been up and running for nearly 20 years. People are, as usual, overreacting about digital stores shutting down. Sure, they can shut down in a few years or 20 years from now, but the fact that the stores are still up means that we won't have to worry about GKCs, which rely on the Switch 2 store, being defunct for a very long time.
@Misima .........all physical copies would be gone too. Then you'd have to buy a new physical copy, whereas your digital purchase could be redownloading on a new console. Key cards would be screwed, in that case.
@Kingy People who keep on crying about "when they shut the servers down" are doomsayers, especially when the Wii servers are still up for redownloads to this day.
@Lizuka Nope, I made sure that the both of them had the same profile. That's why I specified that they could connect to each other locally, but they couldn't go online at the same time. You might be able to do this if both consoles had a cartridge of the game, but the moment DLC is introduced into the picture, only one of the consoles can go online.
@Sonicka Yeah, I don't remember that being possible before. I remember it being possible to do something like load Pokemon Scarlet on one Switch and load Pokemon Violet on another Switch (using the same profile) so you can do local trading/raids with them, but you were never able to go online with the both of them at the same time.
@TheBigBlue Being a Pokemon fan as well, the cost of Metroid Prime Trilogy is nothing in comparison to those. Thankfully, It seems Prime Trilogy was never affected by the Covid spike in video game prices.
This game was a 10/10 back when it first came out in 2002, and it still hasn't changed. No other Metroid Prime game, let alone any Metroid game, holds up to it.
@JonLeung The game is opened up to you after you complete the tutorial portion (basically when the Treasure Hunt starts). You are able to start making picnics around then, so you should be able to start breeding around that time too.
@Sakowak Advance Tour (the GBA title) was great in the RPG area, but was lacking when it came to multiplayer and whatnot. That being said, GCN + GBA connectivity made that era the best for the Mario Golf series.
@Sakowak Agreed. Toadstool Tour is the peak of the series. Smooth 60 FPS and the game looked amazing as well. Then there's the GBA connectivity which had far more unlockables between both games than 64 to GBC.
@SmileMan64 Yep. Even after that date, as long as you linked your NNID funds to your Nintendo Account, you will still be able to add funds through that method.
@GerBearNy The problem with that is they would need to develop and release it within the next year. That way, they could push out an update for all Pokemon games on the eShop before it's closure so they can communicate with the device.
@Fangleman32 I find it weird that people keep on referring to Christian Whitehead without mentioning that he went through the proper channels to show his work to Sega. Don't think he stole Sega's IP and released it to the internet without their permission.
@zool Agreed. The people who are avoiding this game due to lack of splitscreen probably missed the fact that four players are still possible on a single console through alternate play.
@zool It's pretty clear that you didn't read the article then:
"The Japanese site is a little more clear, however, noting that up to four players can play on one console by taking turns and passing the controller around, but any split-screen situation will be limited to just two people."
Taking turns and passing the controller around (latter is optional) is in line with how previous Mario Golf titles have worked. Split-screen is an entirely new feature to Mario Golf.
@zool "it's good to see that some gamers have said they won't now buy the game because the multiplayer version is not as good this time round."
How did you gather this? This game allows four players on the same console through alternate play, which is what previous entries in the series had (they never had split screen).
@zool And you still fail to understand that Mario sports games have always been designed with multiplayer in mind. The fact that you are even looking into this game knowing that is pretty weird.
@zool Except you're the one who both misread the article and don't realize how previous titles worked. Mario Golf always had four player gameplay on the same console through alternate play, and this game is keeping that. So you saying this game is more single player focused even though four people can play on the same console as before does sound trollish.
Allowing people to play at the same time (simultaneous and speed golf) is a new feature that isn't used in golf normally, and the reason why it's limited to two per console is understandable. Splitting the UI into four smaller screens would be a nightmare.
@Poodlestargenerica In Mario Golf 64 and Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, you could play multiplayer by either sharing the same controller or using multiple controllers doing alternate play.
Also, this article kind of has it wrong. It hasn't actually been confirmed if people can use one controller for alternate play multiplayer in this game. The Japanese site just mentioned that four people can play on a single console using alternate play, nothing about it allowing a single controller for that.
@CactusMan Pretty sure there are some Switch games with a LAN feature already, such as Mario Kart and Mario Tennis. Doesn't change the fact that there can only be two people per console in that mode.
I would be surprised if Mario Golf doesn't have it.
Also, two players simultaneously or Speed Golf makes sense. There are already people complaining about the UI being pretty small, and that would be even worse if it's split up into four smaller screens.
@Octane They marketed Prime 3 to kingdom come (even gave it a unique Wii channel), and it still only did "decent" in terms of sales. Metroid simply isn't popular.
@tzahn But Metroid Prime is the best Metroid game out there.
Also, Metroid simply isn't that popular. During Metroid's Golden Age (2002-2007, five mainline games and two spinoffs), the only game to surpass two million units was Metroid Prime, which shows that Metroid really doesn't catch on outside of its core fanbase.
When SX OS first came out, there was no way for an end user to back up games, so its use was only for piracy (on top of being a paid hacked OS). Wish these pirates would stop lying through their teeth.
@Desrever Are people really so lazy to install an Authenticator (Google, Microsoft, Authy) that they are still willing to leave themselves vulnerable like this?
@Majora101 Seeing that Mario Golf: World Tour's online tournaments have officially ended last week, here's to hoping that they are working on a new Mario Golf for the Nintendo Switch!
@shoeses Nintendo/Game Freak NEVER allowed you to back up saves for Pokemon games since the GameCube era. It's no surprise that they are not allowing you to do this for Let's Go, and they more than likely won't for the 2019 games. This is all so people can't easily clone Pokemon.
@IceClimbers @roadrunner343 @CaPPa Seeing that many of these models are literally the same and they didn't even bother changing the main court (Marina Stadium) from its Ultra Smash counterpart, YES, this game is an enhanced port. No matter how much you try to defend it, it is what it is, especially since ports have been very common with the Nintendo Switch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, for example, is not a port due to the amount of changes they made to character models and whatnot.
@GoldenGamer88 Uhh, this game IS a port of Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. The models and animations are reused. Your comparison between Power Tennis and 64 is pretty dumb since Power Tennis was built from the ground up.
@Baker1000 I'd rather have Camelot work on Mario Golf and Tennis than Golden Sun. Find those far more enjoyable (especially when played with friends) than the latter.
Also, I'm sure that they are happier with making those games than Golden Sun since they will likely earn more.
@SanderEvers That's because AM2R is completely free and is on PC, a far bigger platform than 3DS...if AM2R was $40 and on the 3DS, it wouldn't have sold as many copies.
lol, Toadstool Tour overall looks much cleaner than World Tour in terms of graphics, and I'm sure that it was only $49.99 USD, not $59.99. That game was definitely worth it back in the day due to its amount of replayability.
