Both my parents contributed hugely to my love of games. My dad was still playing them a bit when I came around so he got me started playing games but it was usually my mom who bought or rented them for me. She eventually got a job at Roger’s Video and used most of her free rentals giving me the chance to play so many games that I never would have tried otherwise.
As for my first Zelda game, it was the both of them. I can still remember sitting in the back seat with my sister and reading the Wind Waker manual as my parents drove us home from the store.
I hate to be a whiner, but it’s sort of pathetic that they need two months to put slips of paper in plastic cases. Could they really not have done that in time to release “both” versions on the same day?
(Scare quotes because the physical version is really just the digital one.)
Plato himself warned against this. In the Phaedrus, he told the parable of Thoth.
Thoth (or Theuth as he spells it) introduces writhing to the Egyptians. Many rejoiced that it is a cure for forgetting, but the wisest of them saw through it.
None of this will end while a criminal runs the “the free world” into the ground. We sadly have at least three years until someone imposes fair and reasonable restrictions on this incredibly soulless and unethical behaviour.
Until then we should all voice our displeasure as loudly as possible and do what we can to avoid giving money to organizations who have engaged in this brazen theft.
I obviously want the Magical Quest trilogy but what would really interest me would be a comparable Looney Tunes collection. Some of those games were amazing.
Oh well. The franchise is comically nihilistic and has been unthinkingly adopted by people it’s meant to parody, so I’m perfectly happy not playing the games.
Antitrust laws must be strengthened and strongly enforced to prevent these sorts of things from happening. Of course, the increasingly highly corrupt Trump regime in the United States is very unlikely to engage in such ethical behaviour.
We will all lose choices and quality will diminish as this process continues.
Those are fantastic! I made A Hard Day’s Night and Dark Side of the Moon for the record collection personalization. Really looking forward to the upcoming update!
In 2006, while I was in high school, I went on an EF Tours trip to France (from Canada). I knew I was going to have trouble with international calls and didn’t want the headache. Still, I felt sort of bad that my family and I would be out of touch for ten days.
Then it hit me! The very last thing I did on my way out the door was grab my sister’s DS. I started up Wild World, made her character write a letter to herself, and set it for delivery for a week in the future.
When I got home the first thing my sister said was that she got my letter to her and it made her so happy. It still makes me feel fuzzy when I hear about how excited she was to get a letter from me in France on Animal Crossing.
The fact that the most pertinent allusion that this parasite is capable of is a refence to a Batman “film” is quite telling about his intellectual depth.
Also, glad he’s no longer there to run Square Enix further into the sludge. May his current employer suffer his incompetence instead.
This is 100% the fault of Donald J. Trump. I’ve never seen Nintendo do this before, then they do it for the first time during his extremely aggressive trade war. It takes no genius to understand this situation.
Back when the 3DS came out they literally dropped the price to increase sales. Of course, the world, or at least the US, was run better back then.
It’s sad to see members of a certain destructive cult trying to disguise their glee at people, and especially journalists, losing their jobs.
Journalists of all sorts and stripes make an essential contribution to a dynamic and and strong society. Their work is deeply appreciated by myself and many others
Instead of tearing people and society down, perhaps they should try to build something themselves, if they have any valuable skills or expertise whatsoever, that is.
I agree, that’s normal, and I’m not upset. But I’m inclined to believe the United States and its citizens’ decision are the main driver in much of this current price and absolutely certain it will be the reason for any further potential increases.
All the Xbox players I know seem to despise Microsoft and a lot of the gamers I talk to seem to be switching to PC lately. I expect Xbox will go before PlayStation and become some kind of app.
I have played the translation, and one day I intend to play through it in Japanese, but that’s gonna be a while. Although I really do enjoy Mother 3, it doesn’t feel like a part of who I am like Earthbound does.
Although I enjoyed it well enough, all I really want from Paramount is oodles and oodles of Star Trek. Anything that eats away at Trek budgets is on my naughty list.
People are too obsessed with technical metrics. The game runs and plays just fine. It’s also a good deal of fun, for anyone who is still looking to actually have some.
As untrustworthy as police are in general, the international cabal of them who were headquartered in Germany during a particularly “historical” period are even more so.

Re: PEGI Targets Loot Boxes With Its New Overhauled Ratings System
Good stuff. As usual, it’s Europeans twisting the arm of big companies to make them behave ethically.
Sadly untrue in North America.
Re: Xbox Announces Next Generation Console, Will Play "Xbox And PC Games"
Please Xbox, just let go.
You can finally be at peace.

It was a cure for remembering.

Exactly. Reasonable and responsible electoral choices are how this will be reined in. Here’s looking at 2028!

He likely objects to any focus on women, all LGBT characters, and the idea that what we love must change with the times.

@Stormcloudlive
It’s a pretty sad reflection on the state of humanity. Thanks to these guys we likely have the Terran Empire in our future instead of the Federation.

@sockableclaw
Yeah, not exactly logical, this guy.
Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?
Seriously worried is not what I am.
I am virulently and vehemently opposed to this meaning-destroying cancer spreading further into our lives.

Re: Poll: How Many New Games Do You Buy In A Year?
Two. Per. Year…
My shelf would be pretty paltry.
Re: Feature: Nintendo's New App Reminds Me Of A Universal Truth: It Feels Good To Squash Mario's Face
The bubble game is actually pretty fun once you figure out what to do. Looking forward to getting this on my niece and nephew’s switches.
The fact that it’s only on the Japanese Eshop isn’t so bad, as there is next to no text present, and what is is in English.
Re: Star Trek: Resurgence
This is wonderful to hear. Now they just need to get that Voyager: Across the Unknown on Switch 2 and I’ll be satisfied for quite some time.

Sure, it’s a slightly annoying patch, but the problem isn’t giant to begin with and the game is great anyway.
What a whiny bunch.
Re: Back Page: Every Game Should Have A Cow
I’m so happy to see you still writing for this site!
I think the temporarily blue cow from Earthbound deserves at least an honourable mention.
I also want to thank you for your more recent list based article, things like that are why I love Nintendolife. Awesome as always!

Myself, I consider most reporting on anything political in some sense or another. Unlike some people, that doesn’t have me clutching my pearls.
I actually find this site fairly political, but in the good way. Informed and compassionate reporting is exactly what I am looking for.

You Americans must be getting tired of WINNING. All good up here in the great white north, though.
Re: Talking Point: Who Could Play Link, Zelda, Ganondorf In The Zelda Movie? - 25 Actors Who Could Fit The Bill
Jack Quaid as Link. He could be slightly less frantic than Boimler but still a touch funny.

Good suggestion! I’ll do that now.

You get the six player small and four player tiny maps. Hoping for a Switch 2 update.
Re: Review: Star Trek: Legends (Switch) - Competent Combat But Fails To Engage
I’m just going to go back to Subnautica so I can launch my escape beacon roleplaying as Captain William Boimler lost in the multiverse.
That feels more like a Star Trek game than this.

Re: Switch Is Getting A New Star Trek Game For Christmas

I’m really going to miss it too! Seeing that it was ending broke my heart a little.
On the other hand, THAT “Fully Dilated” guest star has my hopes very high for an amazing end to the series. Anything you hope to see or expect?
Re: Switch Is Getting A New Star Trek Game For Christmas
I would buy any game where Data, The Doctor, and the lower deckers can team up! I’ll be picking this one up for sure.
Re: Saudi Public Investment Fund Considering Increasing Its Stake In Nintendo
Please, no. Dump it into something more on brand. Weapons jump to mind.

Re: Pizza Tower Finally Dashes Onto Switch Today
Ugh, that is not the art style I ever want in anything. It should stay in the nineties.
Re: Soapbox: The Trauma Of Giygas & Growing Up In EarthBound
Earthbound is probably my favorite game of all time. I don’t know if I’ll ever find another game that will affect me like it did.
Re: 'Tintin Reporter: Cigars Of The Pharaoh' Finally Adventures Onto Switch This October
Tintin Reporter?
What a brainlessly stupid title. I love Tintin but I don’t believe there has ever been a good Tintin game.
Re: Rumour: Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games "Finished"
Just gross. But this is the IOC we’re talking about, so at least it’s on brand.
