@OldGamer999 GameChat is a system feature, not a game feature. You can use it while playing any game to talk to your friends and screenshare, no matter what game you're playing.
The proof is in the pudding. The specs, dates, manufacturing process, memory speeds, and whatever else don't mean crap to me. How the games look, play and perform in real life is what matters.
@AverageGamer Eh, the memory speeds might be restrictive for 4k, but they're more than fast enough for high quality 1080p gaming, which is really all I want out of the thing.
@LastFootnote People would obviously complain that Nintendo was arbitrarily under-capping the battery in that case. At least this way you can choose to "overcharge" to 100% if you really need to, like for a long trip or something.
It's nuts that MK8D has been in the top 10 more often than not since it came out until the release of its sequel. No wonder Nintendo saw it as their most suitable launch title. Looks like GTAV is pulling that off too. Nice!
@Sine Unfortunately, there are just physical limitations to how many they can manufacture in a certain amount of time, regardless of how much money they throw at the process. The only solution would have been to delay the launch to give them more time, but seeing the current economic climate, I'm glad it's launching sooner rather than later.
@sanderev I dunno. On Switch, the top 23 best-selling games are Nintendo-published. The first third-party game on the list is Monster Hunter Rise at #24. Yes, even 3rd party juggernauts like Minecraft and Stardew Valley are lower down.
Meanwhile, the highest selling third party game on PS5 is Black Myth Wukong at #2 (!!!), and in fact only 4 of the top 10 selling games on PS5 are first party.
So it seems to me that quality or at least popular first-party titles are more important for Nintendo consoles than others. The thing is, Wii U's exclusives were few, far between, and came way too late. Mario Kart 8 was its best shot at a comeback, and when that didn't work, I knew it was completely cooked.
Interesting. I wonder how much overlap there is between the "physical is better because you can trade it in" community and the "I'll never trade anything in, it's not worth it anyway" community.
@Porky You should just be able to log in with your Nintendo Account credentials on the new machine and have everything transfer over, account wise. The only thing you won't be able to move over this way are downloaded digital games (you'll need to redownload them) and save data for games that don't support cloud saves.
@Capt_T Thanks. I'm gonna check two stores on my way home, but then just resign myself to getting one sometime after launch if there's no luck. I've already kinda talked myself into accepting that's gonna happen lol
For me personally, the Switch 2 is all about NEW, "PS4-quality" Nintendo games specifically. If I cared about 3rd party games, I'd stick with the ROG Ally. With that said, I will be buying Cyberpunk and FF7R on Switch 2 to support those ports.
@Bigmanfan People bring up piracy along with emulators because less than 0.00% of people play legitimate rom dumps on their emulators. They go hand in hand, they don't exist without one another.
@Galaxy2IsTheGOAT I love when people ask, "why pay for games? Why not just steal the games?" so innocently, like a child who doesn't know right from wrong lol.
@Smithicus It's kinda easy by choice, if that makes you feel better. You have the option of doing these repeatable battles with monsters to raise your characters' levels, which wasn't an option in the first GBA game. If you don't do those, I would say it's just as tough.
I'm still getting Tulin. It stinks that prices are going up, but I'd rather them raise optional, high-margin stuff like accessories vs. raising the price of the console itself (which they might still have to do once they exhaust their pre-launch supply...)
@Saints I'm not defending anything haha, but it's a free market and they can price their products how they want. Let's see, maybe Switch 2 crashes and burns... but if it's a wild success, you kinda have admit that they are pricing according to market trends, by definition. They are the market, or a big chunk of it.
As for consumer-friendliness, that's something you do as a business when the chips are down and you need to attract new consumers. Companies aren't your friends, and they're not obligated to be friendly; if it ever seems like they are, it's because they're trying to get something out of you.
@Saints Yeah but how much of a break though? If Nintendo priced Mario Kart at $70 rather than $80, and if we're being incredibly pessimistic and say World sells only a TENTH of what MK8 did, they'd still be leaving $60 million on the table.
And if World sells half of what MK8 sold (again, being pessimistic), they'd be leaving $300 mill on the table. That's too big of a "break" to be considered a good business decision imo.
Some of this comes down to basic economics. If customers are willing to pay $80, why not charge $80? Just to be nice? My econ teacher might've actually slapped me if I tried making that argument.
@arkanjo29 When I got my first job, I started putting $50 of my paycheck in savings every month. Some months I could only do $20, sometimes $10. But the point is, that's not that much money every month, and I've never not been able to afford a console since.
Switch 2 is the cheapest flagship console in this generation, so I dunno why everyone's saying it's all of a sudden prohibitively expensive. If you could afford a PS5, you could afford a Switch 2.
@Pat_trick For as long as I've been alive, there have been people less fortunate than me, including many billions who will NEVER play a Nintendo game in their lives.
It hasn't ever made me consider not buying a console or a game. I'm just grateful for what I'm able to afford and experience.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed
@speed_loafer PS5 (base) has 16GB memory and reserves 3.5GB.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed
@speed_loafer Same! It's a huge upgrade. Not as big as it could've been, but massive still; more than your average generational leap.
@ozwally You can use GameChat while playing any game, I'm pretty sure, so the resources will need to be reserved no matter what.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Final Tech Specs Have Been Confirmed
Sounds like a fantastic upgrade to the original. Not gonna lose sleep or joy over "coulda beens."

First actual generational leap in graphics power for Nintendo in what, 13 years? It's an exciting time to be a gamer.

Re: Poll: GameStop Offers A Tempting Switch 2 Trade-In Deal, But Is It Really Worth It?
I traded in my original launch unit, my OLED, and some accessories, and got $360 towards the Switch 2. I'm mighty happy with that actually.

I'm still at work... I won't get the chance to go to a store until around 5.
