A lot of gamers have gotten used to gaming with 2 analog sticks and now with the Vita having them, I feel that it's a mistake to have left it off of the new system. Nintendo could have included the second circle pad easily even if it cost a little more and really marketed the new feature to get more sales...
The article says that having a trophy system could dilute the quality of games for the system, but nintendo systems already have that problem. What Nintendo needs to focus on is making sure their systems have a good selection of QUALITY games from third parties and to filter out the shovelware that is ruining their reputation as a great gaming company. And I say this as a long time loyal fan who would be devastated if the company failed.
OK update I got the maintenance screen on Firefox but got in using IE (ugh!) so yeah I do like the new layout mostly but the expiry dates without years are throwing me off, I think they want us to finish the surveys instead of banking them until the next CN year.
I agree that more options for controls would appeal to more people (isn't that what Nintendo is trying to do anyway?!) but for me, I loved the motion controls and yes it did take a bit to stop waggling and make proper swinging motions which, with a little practice, I could make EVERY swing exactly what I wanted, including stabbing. I would relish the idea of playing Ocarina, Majora and even Twilight with the SS control scheme.
Funny, cuz I never feel like I'm Link when playing, I think that he does need dialogue and a voice actor to give him more personality, especially in the last game where the story was a lot more character driven. look at examples where the main character had a voice and how well it works, like Cecil in the remake of FF4 for DS.
I'm ok with paying for DLC, but in some cases, they charge too much (Call of Duty), or there is lots and lots of little DLC not worth the one or two bucks (Little Big Planet).
I also have the messenger bag (that's the black one with the mario star on it, right?) and I agree with zeeroid's comments. It is well made but will wear out after a few years of regular use. Thanks for the input @number_6 I will probably get the sensu then because I tend to order the rewards for collectibles more than useful items.
I don't get why everyone is going crazy over the giant AR card. Actually, I find all of the AR activities on the 3DS dull. Anyway I might get the posters since I have the mario and zelda sets, and the screensaver looks ok for just 10 coins. I'm also torn between the mario sensu and the reversible pouches. anyone get a sensu or pouch yet? Are they worth it?
Aw, I was hoping for something like the characters from Dragon Quest IX or Harvest Moon. I never really liked the Miis. Oh well, it's really all about the games anyway.
I think sykotek had it right (see #2) give us something we haven't seen yet, though 4 swords is a nice bonus since a lot of us missed it the first time around. Let's hope they record the concerts and release a CD for those of us who can't get enough of Zelda music. Check out www.zreomusic.com/listen for a ton of amazing Zelda music!
Hey, Nintendo. Make Miis better. They look very last-gen. Something like characters from Harvest Moon or Go Vacation or, dare I say, coughxboxavatarscough would be a GRAND improvement.
Canadian Smarties must be like American Smarties, cuz the shell is kinda not very crunchy, but M&Ms are much better IMO..... wait, sorry FOCUS. OK yeah E3 awesome, I shall be watching live again this year. I'm hoping that the Wii isn't dead yet though, I think it's still got some life left in it and new hardware is a year early. And we need some AAA titles for 3DS cuz so far the software is mediocre.
I shall save the pic and print it off and insert into my own copy of OOT3D and show my friends my very rare boxart not available in stores. Actually there's a website for custom game inserts here: http://www.vgboxart.com/ I suggest a look-see some of the art is pretty cool!!
@Destroyer360: I did say with very few exceptions..... I will admit that I enjoyed Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Fragger, Scrabble and one or two others, but these are the exceptions. I got my buck or two worth of entertainment from them. And yes I do check Metacritic to see if a game if good or not. I'm just saying that comparing the value I personally get from IOS purchases to DS purchases, well my DS wins that contest by a brutal Fatality.
All of ios games are shovelware, with very few exceptions. having had both for a few years, i've been disappointed with the ios games i bought and felt like i wasted my cash. As for DS games though, I've never regretted a single purchase. Yes DS has shovelware, ALL systems do. But smart gamers do their research first and will only spend their money on a game they know will be good. Black & White has just proved that even on a system's last month, good games sell. Nintendo vs IOS is comparing Quality to Quantity. I'll spend my money on Quality every single time.
really, the only franchises Nintendo has left out for a while are F-Zero and Starfox. I'm really hyped about (hopefully) the reveal for Dragon Quest X at E3. As for my crazy fan-boy-never-gonna-happen game, I want to see Final Fantasy VI on 3DS! **fingers crossed really tight**
One point missing from the article is this: Back in the 8 and 16 bit eras, there were far fewer games being made and released. Today, the market is flooded with games, most of them mediocre, but still lots of really good games, so many in fact, that very few of us have the time or money to play them all. But back then, everyone was familiar with the great games because there were only so many to go around. I find myself nowadays having to sift through the release lists and decide which games do I really really want now, and which ones I may get around to later. Also, because games have so much more content now, we spend a lot more time playing each title, which means good value, but also means less time to play more games. Remember when FF3 boasted 30 hours of gameplay?! That was a lot then...
yeah we pay good old 13% HST plus american exchange for wii points up here, so 2000 points usually costs me $25 of my fancy mutli coloured monies, but hey, it's worth it. Also, I would definitely but one of each of those for collecting purposes. I have a New SMB branded Wal-Mart gift card that came out when the DS lite launched, which is exactly when I bought New SMB and my brand new white DS lite.
PS @SUPERZELDAMAN You're avatar makes me feel like barfing.......
um yay? because, you know, we don't have any other way of renting movies and tv shows up here. except the internet. and the video store. and pay per view. and on demand channels. i am so excited. Zzzzzz......
Fave Mario? That'd have to be Hammer Mario from SMB3. yeah, chucking hammers that kill anything, Boos, even bowser, and it's fire-proof! yeah best power up ever. Metal Mario from 64 would be second, love that groovy metal beat music.
I have a suggestion for Nintendo: Make the ABXY buttons BIGGER! Please? My one complaint with the DS is that I end up mashing buttons when things heat up in gameplay.
of course those of us with a PSP have been able to emulate a portable VC for ages now..... but in other news, it would be awesome to have a new nintendo portable, since the DS is showing its age already, especially compared to the iphone and psp. I just wish the DS's buttons were bigger, i have always found them to be too small
I agree with edhe, where's Harvest Moon, any of them in fact, considering the point of the whole game is to get married and save all the villagers and their land from some sort of crisis, have some kids, love your animals (in a clean way). These games are all about love. Which explains why my wife plays them non stop. oh and i like them too.

Re: Nintendo Buys Supermario4.com Web Domain
there's no Bros. in the domain name, so I doubt it'll be a "Mario 4" game, also b/c of the SMB4 title in japan.

It's the Quality vs Quantity argument. Nintendo is about quality gaming. Don't change now, good for you Reg!
