Last week's brief appearance of Club Nintendo's major overhaul was indeed a portent of things to come, as the new site is now up and fully operational.
Just as we reported last week, you can now use your Club Nintendo coins to pay for download games on the Wii or 3DS eShop. The following games are available until 10th January:
Super Mario Kart (SNES, Wii Virtual Console) — 100 coins
3D Classics: Xevious (3DS Download Software) — 100 coins
Fluidity (WiiWare) — 150 coins
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again (DSiWare) — 150 coins
It's worth noting that Mario vs. Donkey Kong will only work on a 3DS as the DSi Shop lacks a redeem code function.
Will you be picking up any of these with your hard-earned coins?

So how does the Nintendo Coin compare to Europes Nintendo Stars?
We get 50 stars for filling in a survey (dsiware etc), about 250 + for registering a recent game (and filling out a survey) and about 500 for registering a system (and yet again filling out a survey)
100 Coins doesnt sound a lot considering 400 stars comes out at 100 Nintendo points. Just trying to work out what we would be looking at IF the scheme makes it over the pond someday.
Other than that im really happy that they have decided to do something like this.
The North American system works that:
50 coins for a Wii Game
30 coins for a 3DS/DS Game
10 coins for a Downloadable game
Two weeks after filling out the initial survey, a post-play survey is made available for each title, which is worth 10 coins. There are sometimes special deals which can add a few more coins per game (for example, with certain games registering within a month of its release will add another 10 coins)
Anyway, compared to the physical items available, these are all really good deals. I've already snatched Xevious, and I plan to pick up Super Mario Kart and Fluidity later today.
Also, it might be worth noting only the eShop version of Mario vs Donkey Kong is available, as the DSiWare shop doesn't support download codes.
Nice. I've got all of them so there's nothing for me here if they come to Europe.
@Buster: I'm surprised to see that 3DS games don't grant you 50 coins too since they cost about the same as Wii games. At least here in Europe.
@Buster13 That's a great point, thanks for that, I've made an edit now
So glad to be actually able to use my coins for something worth while. I plan to take advantage of this for sure.
@Buster13 - Thank you for the info
So 100 coins roughly 500 stars or two wii games. Seems like a good deal on download codes as 100 Nintendo points (400 stars) practicly buys you nothing. I hope they dont bump up the exchange rate too much if they ever bring the download codes over here.
@Raptor78: I did the calculations just taking into account the 50 coins or 250 stars you'd get with a game. That would reward you with 400 wii points if you use these coins deal and 62.5 wii points for our star-to-points conversion.
Just brought Xevious using my American club Nintendo account, and I'm going to try redeeming it on my British 3DS will let you all know if it works shortly.
I don't know about anyone else, but this new layout seems a little trickier to navigate. Snagged Super Mario Kart, though.
@47drift: Same here, it took me a while to find where everything is located in this new set up, By the way @anyone knows where to find the expire year of to-do surveys? Or should we assume to-do surveys previously listed expiring 2015 wont last now beyond 2012?
Looks like these codes don't redeem on British 3DS's how annoying
Nice! I almost bought xevious! Really glad I didn't. I'll download it today!
Bought the Mario ones years ago. Not interested until they add others I haven't bought.
downloaded mario kart haven't the the snes game in years
Hmmm.. I wait I have 3 of the 4 games, and I'm not really interested in Fluidity.
Nice but Club Nintendo is still down
i'm getting mario vs Donkey Kong and Xevious for my 3DS now
Probably going to get Super Mario Kart, but I can't log into Club Nintendo!
In my mind these are awesome deals. I just spent 300 coins on an AR card and 250 on a pouch but I still have 1110 plus a 3DS to register and probably about 6 games after the holidays, and a ton of post play surveys I never felt like doing b/c I wasn't all that interested in the rewards. Grill-off - 80 coins - is not in the same league as Super Mario Kart - 100 coins. If anybody thinks they're comparable I want what you're on. And Fluidity (9 out of 10) is a really good $12 - TWELVE DOLLAR - game that I can now get for filling out a few surveys. Awesome sauce. I wasn't going to download any more Wiiware until the WiiU but a great game for free, I'll risk it. I'm getting them all and I'm looking forward to Jan. 10th.
Will more games be available when January 10 arrives?
This day could not get much more amazing! I mean think about all the great news already: GBA Ambassador games revealed FINALLY, Club Nintendo's new site up, and Retro possibly working with Nintendo on the next Zelda? This is just fantastic!
I'm not gonna waste my money on Xevious Hopefully, the next batch will be Kirby's Adventure, or EVEN Kid Icarus!
Got Xevious and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong during my two hour delay before school, now I got stuff to do on the bus ^_^
Well I was so excited about the games I forgot to comment on the website facelift.
I really hate the new side-scrolling listing for surveys and other ways to earn coins. It doesn't list the year. I just checked a couple of days ago and some of my surveys expired in 2013 or 2015. Now all I see are dates so I don't know if a survey saying Dec 12 has expired or not. I hope enough people complain so this is fixed. How hard can it be to add the year? I also don't like having to go into my account to see my history. And I don't like my history with oldest at the top. I've been a Club Nintendo member since 2008 but that's still 4 years of stuff to go thru,a dn we buy a lot of Nintendo product. Newest should be on top.
The site is slow right now but I'm hoping by mid-Jan. after the holiday rush it'll be normal.
My 3ds loaded it, now that I pick up games I'm growing hesitant. Not sure what I should get if anything. Perhaps I'll till after my exams are done
wait, I don't get it, why is it only available until Jan? Are they gone forever after that, or are there just different games coming after that? seems like a pretty short window for that kind of promotion.
After I get finish filling out the rest of those (3DS) NES surveys I should have enough to get SMK and Fluidity.
After a week of maintenance its pretty good only problem is i cant sign in, any1 else havin this problem too >.>?
so this will be updated monthly so it seems... hmm now not sure what I want to get haha. Might wait for the next batch >.>
@28 its right under the sign up took me a min to find it too
i click member sign in but it doesnt do anything..
Guess there still updating or sumn cuz cant log in
Shouldn't stars be worth more than coins?
Ok so with Google Chrome u cnt log in but with internet explorer yes -.-?
@Smash9000 - Chrome won't load the new page for me, I used my 3ds
At first I thought this was guaranteed for Europe, but since I found out NA couldn't buy Points Cards with their Coins, I'm not so sure, but it should still be somewhat likely.
EDIT: Just realised, the EU shop has redeem download code as well, so it is pretty likely we'll get a similair offer.
I'm still getting the site maintenance screen
@REN 26: Because they will update it with new games.
Going to download the original and best Mario Kart. Good job Nintendo for giving me something I would like to spend my Coins on!
I'm picking up all of them. I've been itching for something worthwhile to spend coins on.
edit - I hope they release more 3d classics and dsiware games
@LoopLugi - me too but the 3ds works for getting on
not digging to new layout a whole lot.
I was going to get Mario vs Donkey Kong, but now that I'm getting the GBA version for free I don't know.
OK update I got the maintenance screen on Firefox but got in using IE (ugh!) so yeah I do like the new layout mostly but the expiry dates without years are throwing me off, I think they want us to finish the surveys instead of banking them until the next CN year.
I'll get Xevious for the lulz, but is it just me or the Club Nintendo page is just SLOOOOOW now?
Picked up Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Quite fun, glad I got it.
Xevious is now mine!
@Raptor78/Buster13 Keep in mind that the downloadable games ONLY get coins from the post-play surveys, so it's basically 60 for a Wii game, 40 for a DS/3DS game, and 10 for downloadable games (and for retail games, only first-party games are elgible). We also get 160 coins for system registration.
By the way, they've also added a 25th anniversary Zelda poster set and a pen pouch.
I got Super Mario Kart well worth for free
I'd much prefer TwinBee over Xevious, but this is probably one of the best things Club Nintendo has ever done. They need to do this more often!
Hmmm.... I think I might get SMK and maybe Xevious, then buy the shirt. I've been saving up lotsa points, and finally there is at least something worth buying.
Firefox works, google Chrome still brings up the "Sorry - maintenance" screen
So we cant do this in England yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just downloaded DK vs Mario! Im excited since thats one that I ws planning on downloading soon anyways! Have to warn you though its super slow since everyone is currently doing it. So the load time is longer and a few times I actually got kicked out and had to enter my password again.
Getting Xevious and Mario VS Donkey Kong
It keeps logging me out when I go to a new page. Then when I try to log back in, it takes me back to the front page! How annoying!
I keep being sent to that same generic page that's been on there for a week saying "Sorry under maintenance"... ;3;
Still can't even log in
I have a couple of surveys I can get 100 coins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky Americans!
@allthetimeineed @rjejr My surveys expiring in 2012 - 2015 for the months of Dec and Nov: Mario All Stars, Mario Galaxy, Mario vs. DK (the latest one) wont load when clicking them and the artwork is gone. What if to-do surveys previously listed expiring 2015 wont last now beyond Nov 2012 as part of the site update? Do you think its possible?
Are you serious?!? This... is... AWESOME!!!
I keep getting the same problem that @Wilford111 is getting. I can't purchase anything because I keep getting logged off. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow...
I cound not log in with Chrome but it works with internet explorer for those who are having trouble..
Site... moving... so... slow...
Just signed up for Club Nintendo and registered a bunch of my games and my 3DS and ended up getting Super Mario Kart. Cant believe I waited this long to join.
Cool I have none of those games. lol.
@RJEJR - I had the same thought when seeing it, you can't tell the year the surveys expire now. I suspect this is deliberate, as people were eeking out the surveys to boost their coins to still make platinum status (I know I had to for the year just gone). Thankfully I still have a good idea which ones expire in 2012, as I think most of mine were 2014 or later.
