Re: Sega Dreamcast, Saturn And Mega Drive Hardware Coming From Retro-Bit in 2018

Linker2A03

I think your "retro gods" are raising eyebrows at the topic title.
Not sure if anyone posting after me will read this, but if you do, until it's stated otherwise, this article is about new accessories being made for existing SEGA consoles(and PC/Moblie via USB and Bluetooth).

This is NOT announcing newly-remade SEGA consoles soon to arrive at stores. I repeat, NO SEGA console remakes.

That being said, I would love a new Saturn controller for my PC!

Re: Capcom Hosting Mega Man 30th Anniversary Livestream That "You Won't Want To Miss"

Linker2A03

@meppi Mega MAN + launching into the SUN...

SUNMAN NES prototype remake confirmed for Smash Bros.!!!

Anyway, don't expect Mega Man Legends 3. Don't expect Mega Man X 9, either. And don't Expect Mega Man ZX3. Also, Don't expect Mega Man Battle Network 7, or Mega Man Starforce 4. Most importantly, you can forget about Mega Man 11.

Lastly, experience has taught us that, even if you go in with minimal expectations, you may still be very disappointed by the presentation and bored out of your skull, man.

Re: Rumour: Wii U System Update Hints That Miiverse Is Coming To An End Soon

Linker2A03

Hmm... could be "future proofing" the Wii U, could be something that will be used very soon.

I think the flag that a lot of people are missing, is the fact that, so far, no 3DS update has this message(which was already mentioned in this comment section). The 3DS family has a MUCH higher user base, so to cut off support so soon would be a tad bit illogical... and typical of NIntendo, I'm afraid.

However, most of the regular users have gone away a long time ago since the major change to Miiverse's infrastructure happened, especially the implemented post limit.

Re: Video: The Complete History Of Mario Kart

Linker2A03

I really like this trip down memory lane! Fun times, for sure! I probably played Funky Daisy Rosalina Bike Wii-... uhh, I mean Mario Kart Wii the most out of all the games in the series, and I loved the bike mechanics in that game. While admittedly off-balance with the rest of the game, they[the bikes] felt like you were controlling actual bikes, unlike the following games that have them where they just drive like thinner karts.

Mario Kart DS probably had the absolute best battle mode, in my opinion. It would have been perfect, had you been able to transform into the bomb kart from Mario Kart 64 after losing. Nothing like getting that revenge shot(or not, if you collided with a star-powered character).

Unfortunately, I'm about to be that one guy who has to point out an incorrect statement in the video:

Drift boosting/mini-turbos first appeared, not in Mario Kart 64, but in the very first Super Mario Kart game. I have to say, it's difficult to tell that you actually get a mini-turbo in that game, because your kart engine revs up only slightly, and you go ever so slightly faster than your normal speed. There's no other indicator, other than what I mentioned above.

Re: Soapbox: You Should Probably Avoid Capcom's Mega Man Mobile Ports

Linker2A03

At what point in the series did Mega Man ever yell out "Mr. X!! It's time to tell you the truth."?? Tell him the truth about what, exactly? Lol, they even butchered the beginning of Mega Man 6!

Yep! Kids, if you wondered why Mega Man was a big hit in the '80s and '90s with us adults, wonder no more! The games have been preserved and play just like we remember them playing, so you'll get the same experience that we did decades ago!...

...Said no one in their right mind.

Re: Soapbox: You Should Probably Avoid Capcom's Mega Man Mobile Ports

Linker2A03

@khululy
I totally agree with you on preferring buttons over touchscreen interfaces. But this is one of those cases where I must inform you that the Sonic 1 and 2 mobile ports are nothing short of extraordinary, and are created by the same Taxman and Stealth from the Sonic hacking and fangame community.

Sonic 1 includes a Sonic & Tails mode, along with Tails and Knuckles as playable characters, while Sonic 2 actually includes a fully completed version of Hidden Palace Zone(from the Sonic 2 BETA ROM). There's a whole lot more, too! On most devices, these games play just fine, but will always be better for you if you can use a controller. Do yourself a favor and check these out if you can!

Re: NES Classic Mini Demand "Greater Than We Anticipated," Admits Reggie Fils-Aime

Linker2A03

Yeah, Reggie, it's very difficult to anticipate demand for this sort of thing... Especially when practically no one was allowed to pre-order for it.

Thankfully, I care very little about this, as I currently have my NES and Famicom still hooked up to my TV, with well over 30 games. If anything, I've been eyeing the AVS console from RetroUSB. That'll be more than enough for my HD retro gaming needs.

Re: Review: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (3DS)

Linker2A03

I'm definitely not a fan of the lack of Big Mario in this game. I used the Big Mushroom quite a bit for accessing secret areas in my levels, and now that it's totally gone, I've got less of an incentive to translate those levels to the smaller screen.

Actually, the lack of amiibo costumes in general makes little sense, and Nintendo has done nothing to explain their absence. The New 3DS even has a cover plate featuring a whole bunch of them(something the Wii U obviously doesn't have), yet, you can't see ANY of them in this version. The NFC reader in the New 3DS models is perfect for portability.

It's just another case of Nintendo not using all of their tools to the full again, unfortunately.

Re: Video: See How Easy It Is To Turn Your Favourite NES Games Into 3D With 3DNES

Linker2A03

An awesome project, no doubt. However, be advised that even if you own the original games, you still aren't entitled to download them in ROM format, simply because they are ripped from someone else's copy. You'd have to rip the ROM image yourself. Even then, there are some laws that state you cannot do this for cartridge-based media, and that's something I found out about only recently.

Re: 3DS System Update Shuts Off Web Browser Exploit, Ruling Out Pokémon Shuffle Freebies and Region-Free Hacks

Linker2A03

@Tobo9279
Not exactly. The eShop was still tied to your own system's region. This exploit only allowed you to use 3DS game cards from any region. It was a pretty cool exploit, since you could play legitimate copies of games you purchased from anywhere in the world, but I'm going to guess that all the other perks the exploit had moved Nintendo to get something out even quicker than they might have intended, with Pokémon Shuffle being the biggest reason for the update.

Or, it normally takes them this long to work on an update, no matter how big or small.

Re: Almost 50 Different System Themes Revealed Prior To New 3DS Launch

Linker2A03

Wow. The fact that the sample Mario character themes shown at Nintendo's site opted to put Rosalina's theme as an example instead of one featuring the well-known character Princess Peach, is somewhat telling of Rosalina's popularity, as of late. It's usually Mario, Yoshi and Peach, with Luigi making a few appearances. Not Mario, Yoshi and Rosalina.

Anyway, I can't wait to grab some of these themes. I do wish I could create my own, though.

Re: Nintendo Has Nothing to Say About Recent Smash Bros. Video

Linker2A03

I guess that, judging from the complaints about the roster, this game isn't everyone's cup of tea. I don't see how, though. When's the last time anyone has had a chance to see an official product featuring Mario, Pac-Man, Sonic, and Mega Man... all in the same game?

I'm stoked about the possible inclusion of Duck Hunt, as well.

Re: System Update 8.1.0-19 Now Available on 3DS

Linker2A03

I think I know what these updates are for! Nintendo's fighting the possible dizziness that could come from using the 3DS, by making it even MORE stable!

Now I'm that much closer to being able to do consecutive, non-stop 1440 degree rotations while playing my 3DS, without getting dizzy!

Re: Screenshots Disabled in Comic Workshop Miiverse Community

Linker2A03

No screenshots anymore? Aww, that's a bummer, but I totally understand the reason for it. However, I do remember when I first visited the Comic Workshop website that, in the FAQ section, they had a Miiverse question(strangely, that entire question has been removed, as of recent).

The answer was pretty much the same as the one for sharing between friends, only it said "Given that Comic Workshop gives you the opportunity to make drawings without limit and to protect minors, we are sorry to say that is not possible..." (I can't remember how it was put after that, but I do remember that the first part of the answer was nearly identical to the response about sharing between friends).

It appears that a mistake was made, and Comic Workshop was allowed to post screenshots on Miiverse, when it was never the developer's intention to do so, probably due to its photo-sharing capabilities more than anything else(that may be why Colors! 3D isn't allowed to do this, as well).

Either way, think about what people are getting upset over: Posting shrunken images of their well-made comics on Miiverse that are 400x240 pixels large, to be exact(less than half the maximum size limit for comics on the app), a horrible resolution for detailed comics). And then, more than likely, those same comics would only get washed away quickly in the sea of posts, so all that work goes to waste! I wouldn't wish this on anyone!

It's possible that they dodged a bullet, because if something terrible did go down on Miiverse, knowing Nintendo, they could've shut the whole thing down for everyone! Just be glad that things aren't worse than they are now, because they could very well be.

Re: Yumi's Odd Odyssey Hooks In Permanent Price Drop In North America

Linker2A03

I had a feeling that it was an awesome game, but I wasn't sure of the $29.99 price tag. Once the $10 discount happened, I was still on the fence, until the last few hours of the sale. I told myself "if you can't forget about this, buy it."

Long story short, I would've paid the full $29,99 for the game, had I known just how awesome this game was before hand. It definitely takes a lot of skill to complete the levels, but do yourself a favor and get this game, when you get the chance.

Oh yeah, the soundtrack has been stuck in my head since I've purchased the game, too. Just about everything in the game has a nice and friendly atmosphere to it, which is what I love most about it. It's now one of my favorite platform games of all-time.

Re: Comic Workshop Coming to 3DS eShop on 17th July in North America

Linker2A03

Aside from the max pixel size being 896, this looks like it'll be leagues better than Colors! 3D, at least for what I want to do. All of the controls here are comparable to art programs you can use on a PC, only it's in portable format... something I've wanted since, well, forever! Counting the days down, now...

Re: A Fresh Super Mario Bros. Infinite Lives Trick Has Been Discovered

Linker2A03

@iphys
Along with what ocarinaoftime just posted, if you run out of time, you can repeat the same glitch with Luigi again. Be warned that you can only repeat this trick for so many times due the amount of lives that Luigi has in store, since you need him in the first place. Once Luigi loses his last life, though, you can no longer accomplish this trick.

If there was a 1up mushroom in World 5-2 for Luigi, this could potentially be an infinite lives glitch for Mario, but the absence of said mushroom is what's stopping it from being that way.

Re: A Fresh Super Mario Bros. Infinite Lives Trick Has Been Discovered

Linker2A03

This trick is possible without having to resort to TAS. In fact, not only have I done this myself, I've posted this on Miiverse, giving credit to the person who discovered it, of course.

You just have to make sure that Luigi is automatically climbing the vine while getting hit in order for this to work. The game gets tricked into thinking that the automatic sequence is continuing as normal, with the only break in between being the new area in the clouds. It's only thinking of making sure that the very next area continues the sequence, but in this case, it's Mario who has the next area, not Luigi.
