I think I'm more interested in seeing how the defense squad come to Nintendo's aid this time when the next gen console releases and Nintendo have once again decided to start from scratch with their retro selection.
We're some time away for that, but it happens every single time and I can't tell if it gets funnier or just more depressing to see it.
@RainbowGazelle Honestly it's not entirely your fault for not knowing. The fact that you aren't the only one who has made similar comment goes to show that Square Enix absolutely neglected once again to market and inform people of this games existence and target purpose.
The game's announcement was a huge deal to classic fans yet it's only fans who've kept their ears to the wall who really understood that this was a big deal for them. Square Enix basically let Nintendo do all the marketting for them and the game isn't even a Nintendo exclusive funny enough.
Basically if it isn't Final Fantasy or a licensed property (cough Marvel cough), Square seems to see it's own IPs like a lost child that they themselves neglected.
It's pointless to scrape away at the mold when we all know the rot it right there at the top. You can't fix rot, you can only remove it. Bye bye, Kotick.
@CactusMan You're entirely missing the point that no matter who considers who "chinese", that the hostility is towards the CCP, so I'm not actually sure why clarifying any of that is important in this context because as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter who's actually in that identified group. We're all humans. So your curiosity is quite literally derailing the topic at hand unless you want to make the argument that I don't think that way somehow?
@CactusMan Nice attempt at trolling but I'm sure you don't actually need me to tell you. I don't want to even pretend you lack that information, that's just silly.
@CharlieGirl Any bad person will take advantage of negative press to push their own phobic agenda but if you simply see that many people don't like the company, just use a simple google search and dig into it yourself.
It's pretty brash to brand thousands of people as sinophobic when this has always been against the CCP themselves, not chinese people. There are chinese devs you know that have acclaimed praise for their work as they also don't have ties to Tencent to public knowledge whilst showing high effort in their things.
@CactusMan You may think that's comparable but food and power are necessities to the modern lifestyle. It's a bit easier to be more selective of your support when the company concerns entertainment. This is literally the "we should improve society somewhat" meme, please don't be that "yet you participate in it, I am very intelligent" person.
Fantastic to see the mistreated and misheard employees take a stance against such a demonic company. I wish the absolute best of outcomes for them because I know it's not easy speaking out against men with such vast riches and power.
@DrDaisy Nintendo's absolute garbage at preserving games, that's what. Spencer's industry-wide call for videogame preservation includes Nintendo since they are part of this industry after all. I don't think it's that hard to put together.
It's very important to filter out the differences between "fans" who want to be toxic and threaten the peace of those in the community with personal attacks and harassment, however it's equally important to simply recognise fans who are just disappointed and share genuine critique that they feel would improve the series.
A lot of the "positive" fans I witness really fail to understand that it isn't as black and white as "critique bad, praise good". Both "negative" and "positive" comments on a product are a positive thing overall and necessary for most developers to evolve (no pun intended).
Being content with a series because you've had no experience with the previous entries is fine. However if you're content with being well... content, then you shouldn't have an issue with people asking for improvements. Again, just learn to actually filter out between those with malicious intent and those without it.
I think the silliest argument I've seen from "positive" fans (different from actual positive fans, please understand why I'm using quotation marks) is the one that leaves critiques with no winning answer. >Doesn't buy the game "You can't say negative thing about the game because you haven't even experienced it for yourself to give a fair critique." >Buys the game to give a fair critique "You can't say negative thing about the game because you just gave Pokemon money and failed to vote with your wallet."
Be considerate of both sides thank you. Mature discussion with critique on a series is not a bad thing that needs to be stomped out like I see some people thinking. Vocal minorities (aka "Bad Apples") will always spoil your outside view of a group. Try to remember that so we can have healthy discussions. That goes for me too going forward.
@Leuke What spoilers? This is a model you see when you die in the game. If you haven't seen it yet then it means you're probably doing pretty good at the game so far.
@SuperCharr "Dainty" is the keyword here which kinda contradicts the character. That being said I'm offended (jk) that you'd assume I don't think the Dread version of Samus is good-looking. The Dread model simply makes Samus look both badass AND attractive imo.
@impurekind Other than her face not being caked with make-up, Samus' Dread model literally just looks like a normal woman with some muscle definition. Not only that, but the model isn't even fully rendered neither optimised to be aesthetically pleasing. It's incredibly ignorant to say that the other model was made by a "better artist" when both models have very different functionalities in what they wanted to do with them. Especially since the Dread model is mostly seen in a 2 second death animation whereas Other M's was made to be seen practically all the time.
With some tweaking under the assumption that that the model would be rigged with talking and more nuanced animations in mind, the Dread model would likely look more polished in that area, however I don't believe Samus can even open her mouth here which is more than likely the reason her lower mouth might look "off" to someone.
All that aside, I've personally always disliked the design that Other M stuck with ZSS for so long and crept into Smash. For one, Samus isn't a character that cares about looking "aesthetically pleasing", she's a cold bounty hunter who barely socialises even with those on the job. The whole dainty super model look they leaned into heavily for her not only felt wrong for her character, but also does a disservice to her lore in the games before. The Dread model is only a step in the right direction for me and I'm happy that Samus can actually look more capable than the damsel Other M turned her into.
To some who barely see a difference compared to other ZSS models, this is a HUGE improvement imo. For one you can actually see Samus has some muscle definition around both her torso and arms, and her whole facial structure in general is a lot more "firm" which is something I always thought suited her far better before Smash and Other M changed that perception for the last 10 years or so. Hoping Prime 4 continues the "stronger" looking Samus if we ever see her out of the suit again in that game.
@BirdBoy16 Very much so. While Western devs have to be extremely careful to get away with things like that with some cautiously organised wording (or hoping people don't read at all), I can't tell you if it's just as strict for China or not.
My only guess is "no, it's not" as at no point in the trailer can I see any small text telling you things like "not actual gameplay" or even a "gameplay not final" to tell you the opposite. It has an Unreal Engine watermark for a little bit to of course tell you they've used the Unreal Engine but they're banking on people assuming the Unreal Engine can only make gameplay or something and nothing else. Small text no matter how subtle is usually in most western trailers because they absolutely do not want to be liable for being even slightly shady even if their intention was to trick you. But I'll be glad if someone with more know-how on the China side of things could tell me.
That being said, one of the biggest indicators for me is how unnaturally the minimap moves in accordance to what's happening on screen. Things like the player icon moving way too much on the map despite the player themselves performing actions on the spot and things like the camera cone wiggling in response to an impact despite the camera itself keeping steady during screen rumbles (it's an indicator of vision, not every little screen shake less these devs really wanted to waste their time implementing such things).
But yeah, it's a thing. It's been done with CyberPunk trailers before and other things like Call of Duty and the like since it's easy to make a cinematic in first person, put the small text and because it's an FPS, a good amount of public will only assume it's representative of gameplay because they don't have the time to look into it or even assume they've seen something... different.
Looking at this again, the "gameplay" shown in the trailer isn't actual gameplay. It's pre-rendered, controlled animations in a contained space made to trick people viewing into thinking they have something of this quality.
I've seen it so many times before and the end result never looks anything like this because realistically most game just don't actually flow that well by nature of the format. Smoke and mirrors if you will to make the company look more appealing to investors so it'll be interesting to see the differences when this supposedly gets closer to release.
TiMi Studio Group (behind this) haven't made a PC game since 2013. This'll be a CyberPunk situation but worse because the Studio has no credibility to believe they could feasibly make something of this caliber.
@RandomGamesAndStuff They've covered this before, it was just a year ago.
I'm not even attacking NL but it's very strange for you to be against the idea of bringing this stuff to light, especially considering there's many people here who may only be following Nintendo Life for news and not aware of what's been going on.
Hey, Nintendo Life? You think you could also cover how Ubisoft employees are still filing harassment complaints and are instead being told to shut up about it?
I feel that issue is still being swept under the rug just because it's "old news" despite it still happening.
Whether you enjoy it or not, I find it quite amusing how people try to rack their brains over something that really doesn't require a lot of thought.
Being a Vtuber is quite literally the video and streaming equivalent of posting a comment in a video games article under the picture of an avatar you like instead of a photo of you yourself. For some it's a character they wanna play. For others it's nothing more than the image they wanna be represented by.
Korone's just that energetic in general. Some things are for character like "yubi yubi" (she doesn't really say that unless the something prompts it though) but the way her voice sounds is actually an accent she picked up over the years from living with her grandmother. Not saying you have to like the content, but I see far too many people looking at Vtubers as the strange new medium that "doesn't make sense" as if they weren't literally part of a medium that was also shunned for being strange, new and "not making sense" (video games, if that wasn't obvious).
Back on topic though, she's really quite the genuine retro gamer. There might be exceptions but in most cases, Korone always tries to capture footage from genuine retro hardware even if there's a version she could play on Steam or other modern consoles. She just likes having them, I wish I could get access to old working hardware like that...
If they include other expansion packs/DLC to this model of NSO then it'll be a far different picture for me that might be worth looking into. If the Animal Crossing DLC and other stuff is really the bulk of what you get from this alone, then no, I can live quite happily without the N64 and Sega games as nice as they'd be.
Apollo Justice does not deserve to be below Justice for All imo and the same the other way around. Apollo was a great game with great cases and loveable characters. JFA was the worst game in the entire franchise for me personally. It had bad cases, loveable characters at least (expected from the series in general) and really, the whole experience felt rough compared to the game literally just before it. I kinda feel like it's only been rated as high as it is because a lot of newcomers experienced it as part of the trilogy unlike earlier fans such as myself who experienced it as a standalone game.
That being said, I am not the fun police. The poll was all for a bit of public experimentation and honestly, I don't hate JFA to the point that I don't think it should exist. The more people who can enjoy every game, the better. Although my PFP might have you believe otherwise, Apollo Justice isn't actually my favourite in the series. My fav is in its rightful place of number 1 on this list, bless. I do however hope that Apollo Justice soon becomes more acessible to newbies sooner or later as I don't think many can get their hands on the game unless they buy the DS game. I believe there is a HD version available in Japan on smartphones but not in the West. Hope that gets fixed soon and maybe even bring it to Switch?
Good stuff though. I'm really happy this series has come as far as it has. Never would have thought a game about shouting lawyers would grow with such a wonderful and healthy community but here we are.
The whole, entire point of my comment is to highlight my personal feelings towards this policy. Not everyone feels the same way as I do. I understand that. I respect that. If I were to finally come up with a good example (different industry) that summarises what I've been trying to say this entire time, it'd be this: Some people are vegetarians not because they think they can make a difference in the world, but because they can't stand to take part in it. Now to clarify: No, I'm not a vegetarian. But not everyone is a vegetarian for the exact same reasons. Does that make sense? I'm not telling you, or anyone else that they shouldn't buy Dread. What I am saying though, is that I, personally cannot currently buy the game while knowing they have this policy in place that has affected past employees.
Now I already understand the next point made: "They shouldn't sign up for the job if they expected to get credited". Now let me say something about the games industry that unfortunately, not a lot of people here understand.
Getting work in the games industry is not easy. Right now, if you want to work for video games, you don't actually have a lot of choice in what you can pick unless you have a lot of connections (which newbies especially will not have). Whether you think it's fair or not "because it's in writing" I don't think you yourself have ever fully read the terms and conditions to every single thing you've applied to. You take what you can get, under the pretense that you can eventually build a resume that lets you pick the choices you were gunning for. That's how freelance is, unfortunately.
Now, I've given you the super abridged explanation of that hoping I don't have to type too much more but that there should already paint a picture on why some aren't actually in a luxurious position enough to "not take the job". It's a competitive industry. If you don't take a space, someone else will.
This problem isn't exclusive to Metroid. It's a Rockstar policy too and it also sucks. It got complained about. It's an XSeed problem too. It also sucks.
I think too many people misinterpret "outrage" as something they wanna do because they wanna "cancel" people. Not saying it WILL happen, but all people really want is change (not to contradict my first post, hope is different from thinking you're actually doing it). I think if people are telling other people they're bad for buying the game for this? Yeah! That's not cool! Tell 'em off because that's their money and their opinion! But I'm seeing a lot of people here targeting those who are showing disappointment in the policy such as myself. There shouldn't have to be any "hate train" to justify wanting better. People just want better for other people and I don't think that's a bad thing.
I love Metroid. I want it to succeed (it likely still will, all things considered). However Metroid unfortunately isn't a bigger priority in my books, than fellow artists in the industry. I hope you can understand that. Please have a fantastic day and I hope no one else ruins that for you. We all need a break from the internet sometimes.
@Drac_Mazoku "Please, go read your text again. You're pretty much comparing them with all the horrible allegations Ubisoft had, and also bringing up Blood Diamonds"
I'm really sad that you've refused to acknowledge the disclaimers already made in my original post but I suppose I can't control how you've chosen to interpret that. For bringing up Ubisoft, I'm giving an example that I don't buy games if there's something (emphasis on "something", not "anything") that I don't like about behind the scenes. The example is for emphasis on my personal beliefs and "proof" of sticking to my word. Sorry if you decided to take that the wrong way, but I couldn't think of a more related scenario whilst typing it.
The blood diamonds... Yes. I don't know how else to say this. I said in the exact same post that it's an "exaggerated example" but you chose to ignore that. I do agree, it's indeed an extreme example which is why I highlighted that fact in hopes people wouldn't take it literally (but here we are, unfortunately).
@Drac_Mazoku I don't understand how you managed to pull "toxic workplace" from my comment, but if it's to do with the exaggerated example I used, then I apologised beforehand and I apologise again.
However, if your response is purely based on that "it's in the policy so it's okay" then you are not the type of person I want to have this debate with. If their policy was "we credit literally NO ONE for their work in the games we make" then that's an equally bad policy to me. That's it. It's a bad policy. There's no point trying to strawman in "but the article doesn't say toxic workplace". I literally do not care. It's a company with a bad policy. People deserve credit for their work. Change your policy.
I'm an artist. I like to support other artists and I support a world where artists can be equally compensated for their work. This isn't any different so please try not to paint this as something just because it's "legal" or w/e. If everything was fine and dandy just because it were legal, then there wouldn't be so many issues in the world regarding large companies now would there? But this is a gaming site so let's not go an derail it there now, shall we?
This has really soured my excitement to purchase the game in the near future. I was really excited to buying it soon due to all the praise I saw it getting. Payday would've been a joy but now it just feels gross... Btw this isn't me "boycotting" the game or "trying to make a difference" (although it'd be great if I could), I'm just personally saying that I don't think I can actually buy a game in good faith with such awful knowledge on my mind. It's the entire reason I haven't bought a single Ubisoft game in literal years after hearing about all the criminal allegations and no real sign of change or promise.
The reason I can't see myself buying Dread any time soon isn't to "make a change" but simply because I don't think I can enjoy the game knowing this. An exaggerated example, but "blood diamonds" for one. They're diamonds that are pretty and worth a bunch but how they're acquired...? Not something you wanna own with that on your conscience...
Despite my profile picture, it's gotta be Trials and Tribulations for me whilst the original game on DS comes an extremely close 2nd for me (I know it's on gameboy originally but DS has an amazing 5th case).
It wasn't asked for but my personal least favourite is Justice For All while every other game has sat comfortably at a "great" and "excellent" behind my top 2.
@fafonio Sometimes they don't price drop at all. I think I remember seeing one of the old Pokemon DS games the other day still at the exact same price it would've been at release.
@Ogbert See, whilst informed people like you and me KNOW that these series are visually distinct, there are more than enough people in the majority of the public who will absolutely think that both Digimon and Yokai Watch monsters look like or are Pokemon.
Digimon works well because it's specifically the art style of plenty of Digimon that give it the same identity. Swap out Agumon's eyes with Charizard and suddenly you have a perfectly valid "pokemon" without changing much else about the design.
A game like this is 100% made by a smaller team than Pokemon's or even Digimon. Being able to hire an artist who can distinctively inject cohesion into every monster design is a luxury not many get. I'm not saying you can't make monsters that don't look like Pokemon, that's not my point. In fact you proved my point. My point is that you've bundled this into the "looks like pokemon designs" category when these designs are simply doing their own thing, whether you think the designs look good or not.
If you want to tell me what actually specifically makes these designs look like pokemon designs, then that's a more solid point that I'm willing to take seriously, but until then, I can only see colourful monsters based on real animals that anyone can do. Emphasis on me not saying these are the greatest designs in the world or anything like that.
@Ogbert Well, problem is that you can't actually win when it comes to designing monsters for a game like this. There are SO many pokemon in the series and many of them don't even share the same art style or design sense to the point where simply drawing a fictional monster gets called out as "looking like a Pokemon".
It's a problem that the average consumer has enabled in which "creature that didn't already exist" = pokemon. You could create something totally unique to yourself, base it loosely on an existing animal on Earth but because it has some character; it's classed as a pokemon to those who have no other form of reference.
Honestly, I don't want to hear people say "the designs are derivative of pokemon" unless they: A: Actually copy the very design foundation of an existing pokemon. or B: Instead acknowledge that pokemon designs these days are so inconsistent that literally anything can pass as a pokemon when it's not.
Pokemon simply just has the monopoly on the "monster catching" market. It did not invent it.
I like the look personally. For someone like me, this type of game is technically a bit easier to sell to because I actually dislike the overall art style for Stardew Valley, whilst something like this feels a lot more consistent in that sense. (No hate on Stardew as a whole before anyone jumps to conclusions, I'm just big on art styles in games)
If it's not for you, or you think you've played too many, I think that's fair and good on you. But I think it's important to note that whether the genre is flooded or not, that's a developer problem, not a consumer problem. If you wanted a different type of game, these devs weren't going to be the ones to give it to you in the first place because this is clearly what they wanted to do. All this does is benefit those who wanted a bigger selection of this type of game, thus allowing them to choose one that suits their preferences best.
Best of luck to this dev though, it will be exceedingly tough to sell, but maybe you'll get lucky and attract a bunch of fans who dig the style like myself.
@Paraka No, sorry. At first you were being sensible but you're quite honestly reaching to ridiculous extremes to try and prove a point based on technicalities. My own examples are based purely on what is actually already been deemed as is under the examples of both FOMO and anti-consumerism.
It sounds hyperbolic because it IS. If you really expect me to keep up with an argument by ignoring official examples while verifying your own extremes, then you must also allow me to say something as ludicrous as "Nintendo is at fault because they decided to enter the games industry". That's the level you want me to stoop to with an argument like that and at this point I feel like perhaps you aren't taking me seriously. So sorry for ever considering a normal response, have a good day/week/year or what else may bring you joy, genuinely.
Maybe someone else will be more willing to engage in such a one-sided debate. Your argument is strictly in favour of defending companies full stop. I can't argue against what YOU consider to be the morally correct side of the fence if everything coming from your mouth is strictly against pro-consumerism. Again, agree to disagree, goodbye. God I'm awful at disengaging from these never ending loop cycles of useless debates.
@Paraka Yes, the Dragalia Lost example, as well as the Pumpkin Spice example are indeed both examples of FOMO.
That's what it is. I can't help you much further if you still disagree but yes, FOMO can be something that targets a specific audience and not just the wider public audience in general.
You would be in "Fear Of Missing Out" of that Dragalia Event, thus more inclined to play and perhaps even more quickly spend money to get more pulls (not saying you DO do that, but that's the best case scenario for the developer holding the event). You would be in "Fear Of Missing Out" of that pumpkin spice so you feel more inclined to buy the product be it in larger quantities or simply ensuring that the entirety of stock is bought through at least one purchase. Of course products that are literally impossible to produce at certain times of year are exempt from this but in this day and age, that's extremely rare.
Forgive me if this was from someone else but I think you also mentioned something about limited Fortnite game content too? If so, yes, that too is FOMO, it's quite literally been used along with the term itself at Games Developer Conference meetings as an example to help game devs in business to invoke "FOMO" among consumers and their friends.
Lastly, yes; things that inconvenience the consumer and have potential negative impacts on their choices are indeed deemed anti-consumer. I'm not trying to be smart or making anything up, this is literally what it is for both of these terms. FOMO and anti-consumerism.
@johnvboy Mhm, I'd be in full agreement but unfortunately it's as you say that my concern does indeed lay with the future further out. Glad to hear you're in that easy a position though.
@johnvboy Again I point to my first comment here: "It's still too soon" so I said. I'm sorry to say but Nintendo Life deciding to post a poll on the matter right now does not speak for the future of Stock by say christmas or the christmas after.
I don't know who "everybody" is to you but my brother has yet to get a Switch. He wants a Switch and wants SM3DAS to go with it but for the moment it's not something he can focus on right now for multiple financial reasons. If in a year or so he manages to finally get his hands on them, that's fantastic news but even then I regret to inform you my brother is not "everybody" after that either.
@Paraka FOMO is built around the desire of the consumer. That's my point. It doesn't have anything to do with what *you've seen in the back of store stock or whatever. I feel my point is being entirely ignored here so we'll agree to disagree but FOMO isn't an "official" strategy and Nintendo won't tell you that it's what they're doing.
I know I made the big mistake of being critical of Nintendo on a Nintendo fan website and I regret it every time seeing as this is one of the few companies that gets away with the exact thing that other companies do to large scrutiny, where Nintendo gets away scot-free because they can do no wrong. I'd like to TRY and say outright that I am a Nintendo fan and I'm not here to just say negative things for the sake of it but again, I made the mistake of pointing out an anti-consumer practice on a fan site.
And no, this doesn't excuse Nintendo's other stock shortages either, this one is just far more noticeable due to Mario being the bigger name, so yes I would say the exact same thing about Xenoblade, but I get that people on here have this idea that "Nintendo's done it before, so it's okay to do it again, and again".
"Personal desire" is the video games industry as a whole. You basically want to tell me that everything deemed as anti-consumer is the consumer's own fault, and while you could be right in some twisted way; that's the part where our views simply don't allow for us to say something that makes sense to the other. I don't stand for anti-consumer, therefore anything I say right now will not be an argument you care for and I'm sorry to hear that. What the retailers currently have is not part of my argument and since I feel like my point is still being ignored I might as well stop here (because yes; the examples you gave are also ones I don't see eye to eye with thus aren't good counter-arguments to me, genuinely sorry). Again, agree to disagree but thanks for the polite engagement.
@UmbreonsPapa I mean I never said anything about the games just poofing after the set date, that's exactly why I said in my original comment "it's still too early" because I want to know how this looks say the upcoming christmas, so that's not the point being made for anyone who's trying to counter that for some reason.
@Paraka This doesn't really oversee anything just because Nintendo didn't go about it the usual way. Yes they didn't "say" limited edition but it really doesn't change what it means. The whole point is that even by digital sales (especially digital sales actually), there is zero point to Nintendo "stopping production". If this really has nothing to do with Nintendo drumming up FOMO, then let me know logically why you would ever need to pull sales for the digital version. It's a side of the debate literally no one has given a good answer for. Nintendo themselves have already given reason in the realm of "to make the anniversary special" but that doesn't fly as logical reason. Nintendo's a business. They are fully aware of what stopping sales when they did meant.
@CammyUnofficial Yes it's a consumer's problem. One created by the provider. You aren't saying anything profound, that's what FOMO is, plain and simple. I was expecting this type of comment but not for you to ignore the point entirely. You literally cannot say that a product literally advertised as "limited stock" shouldn't have the expectations of "limited stock". That makes zero sense and only serves to antagonise people who only read the label for what it says.
It's still too early in my opinion but way I see it:
Not in stock at some point? Bad. There's still people that wanted to buy the game with a Switch that didn't get the opportunity to earlier.
Is still in stock so long as the Switch is still being sold? Bad. Not only did they fully take advantage of FOMO, it can essentially be taken as a lie that Nintendo would outright lie about a games availability in order to force people into a rushed decision that wasn't made with a level head on their shoulders.
A lot of people seem to like missing that point when it comes to this topic but I'm not gonna hold my breath for that type of civil reasoning here, I feel like someone will still pretend this is okay to do.
@thegametb Sounds like you're the one being angry and negative my dude. The people in these comments who are not playing this game have simply stated as much with their reasons why. Hardly anyone's telling you not to play it yourself.
If you think that comments being critical have no place on the internet, it's actually you who's being toxic. God forbid a platform that doesn't allow anyone to express their own forms of concern just because they dared to even question your favourite franchise or company.
@moodycat Admittedly does sound more paranoid than it needs to be but they're not entirely wrong either. Right now both the UK and the EU are heavily suspicious of China for launching what they accuse to be a large scale cyber attack by the CCP. Even the US is actually very wary of China right now honestly. Tencent is essentially the CCP under the guise of a large tech company that only grows larger with acquisitions and monetisation. China themselves had to give Tencent a slap on the wrist for acquiring "too many, too fast" as it makes them look suspicious.
If you know what goes on over in China and the quotes from the big man himself, it isn't hard to believe that China is indeed conjuring something up sooner or later. It's the Chinese citizens I feel sorry for the most.
@Kensui I don't buy EA games, I stopped buying Ubisoft games when the allegations came out even though I was looking forward to the latest Assassin's Creed at the time, and I most certainly never touch games made by Tencent.
I understand you're one of those "it'll make money anyway xD" people, but understand that people who don't want to support awful companies usually mean it, whether it makes a difference to the overall result or not.
I'm fine with people going ahead and getting this game if they really want to, but mocking those who choose not to do so themselves is what we call obnoxiously disrespectful.
For the most part I have no interest in MOBA's because of both a community and a gameplay standpoint, neither appeal to me. But the moment I saw Tencent? Oh hell no, I ain't touching that thing even with a 10ft pole. This might've been one of the few franchises to have gotten me to give MOBA's another chance but dabbling in business with Tencent of all companies is just asking for bad press. I have a moral obligation to not give Tencent the light of day seeing how close their link is to the CCP and what they stand for.
I personally find it disgusting but I will not slander those who choose to play this game without being aware of who Tencent is. If anyone does happen to be curious, I urge you to look it up as I'd rather not flood the comments with a written essay lol. Have fun, those of you who were looking forward to this. Be responsible with your money.

Re: Nintendo Loses German Court Appeal Over Switch eShop Pre-Order Cancellations
Good to see Nintendo actually held accountable for their awful practices sometimes.
Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?
I think I'm more interested in seeing how the defense squad come to Nintendo's aid this time when the next gen console releases and Nintendo have once again decided to start from scratch with their retro selection.
We're some time away for that, but it happens every single time and I can't tell if it gets funnier or just more depressing to see it.
Re: NEO: The World Ends With You Has 'Underperformed Expectations', Square Enix Says
Re: Activision Blizzard Boss Bobby Kotick Is Reportedly Open To Quitting As Abuse Claims Rock The Company
It's pointless to scrape away at the mold when we all know the rot it right there at the top.
You can't fix rot, you can only remove it.
Bye bye, Kotick.
Re: Playtonic Announces Tencent Investment And Major Expansion Plans
@CactusMan You're entirely missing the point that no matter who considers who "chinese", that the hostility is towards the CCP, so I'm not actually sure why clarifying any of that is important in this context because as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter who's actually in that identified group. We're all humans.
So your curiosity is quite literally derailing the topic at hand unless you want to make the argument that I don't think that way somehow?
Re: Playtonic Announces Tencent Investment And Major Expansion Plans
@CactusMan Nice attempt at trolling but I'm sure you don't actually need me to tell you.
I don't want to even pretend you lack that information, that's just silly.
Re: Playtonic Announces Tencent Investment And Major Expansion Plans
Re: Playtonic Announces Tencent Investment And Major Expansion Plans
Well then.
RIP.
Re: Activision Blizzard Employees Stage A Walkout Calling For CEO Bobby Kotick's Resignation
Fantastic to see the mistreated and misheard employees take a stance against such a demonic company. I wish the absolute best of outcomes for them because I know it's not easy speaking out against men with such vast riches and power.
Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Calls For Industry-Wide Support Of Game Preservation Via Emulation
@DrDaisy Nintendo's absolute garbage at preserving games, that's what. Spencer's industry-wide call for videogame preservation includes Nintendo since they are part of this industry after all. I don't think it's that hard to put together.
Re: The Pokémon Creative Team Has Been "Through A Lot" With Angry Fan Feedback
>Doesn't buy the game
"You can't say negative thing about the game because you haven't even experienced it for yourself to give a fair critique."
>Buys the game to give a fair critique
"You can't say negative thing about the game because you just gave Pokemon money and failed to vote with your wallet."
Re: Random: Metroid Dread's Zero Suit Samus Model Is Rather Detailed Up Close
@twztid13 No, as I said, ranking the skill of artists based on things you don't know is what's ignorant. Don't twist my words, thanks.
Re: Random: Metroid Dread's Zero Suit Samus Model Is Rather Detailed Up Close
@Leuke What spoilers? This is a model you see when you die in the game. If you haven't seen it yet then it means you're probably doing pretty good at the game so far.
Re: Random: Metroid Dread's Zero Suit Samus Model Is Rather Detailed Up Close
@SuperCharr "Dainty" is the keyword here which kinda contradicts the character.
That being said I'm offended (jk) that you'd assume I don't think the Dread version of Samus is good-looking. The Dread model simply makes Samus look both badass AND attractive imo.
Re: Random: Metroid Dread's Zero Suit Samus Model Is Rather Detailed Up Close
Re: Random: Metroid Dread's Zero Suit Samus Model Is Rather Detailed Up Close
To some who barely see a difference compared to other ZSS models, this is a HUGE improvement imo.
For one you can actually see Samus has some muscle definition around both her torso and arms, and her whole facial structure in general is a lot more "firm" which is something I always thought suited her far better before Smash and Other M changed that perception for the last 10 years or so.
Hoping Prime 4 continues the "stronger" looking Samus if we ever see her out of the suit again in that game.
Re: Open-World RPG 'Honor Of Kings: World' Looks To Fuse 'Monster Hunter' With 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild'
It's been done with CyberPunk trailers before and other things like Call of Duty and the like since it's easy to make a cinematic in first person, put the small text and because it's an FPS, a good amount of public will only assume it's representative of gameplay because they don't have the time to look into it or even assume they've seen something... different.
Re: Ubisoft Wants To Be "One Of The Key Players" In Blockchain Gaming
So we got Ubisoft:
If this isn't a sign on their moral priorities I don't know what is.
Re: Nintendo's Lawyers Strike Again, This Time Against A Mario NFT Gambling Game
Nintendo actually making fans happy with their lawsuits this time hell yeah
Re: Open-World RPG 'Honor Of Kings: World' Looks To Fuse 'Monster Hunter' With 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild'
Re: Open-World RPG 'Honor Of Kings: World' Looks To Fuse 'Monster Hunter' With 'Zelda: Breath Of The Wild'
Looks gorgeous from the screens, just a shame about the Tencent thing. I still have a large backlog of unplayed games anyway at least.
Re: Ubisoft Is Bringing A New Monopoly Game To The Nintendo Switch
@RandomGamesAndStuff They've covered this before, it was just a year ago.
I'm not even attacking NL but it's very strange for you to be against the idea of bringing this stuff to light, especially considering there's many people here who may only be following Nintendo Life for news and not aware of what's been going on.
Re: Ubisoft Is Bringing A New Monopoly Game To The Nintendo Switch
Hey, Nintendo Life? You think you could also cover how Ubisoft employees are still filing harassment complaints and are instead being told to shut up about it?
I feel that issue is still being swept under the rug just because it's "old news" despite it still happening.
Re: Random: VTuber Korone Plays Gyro-Enabled GBA Title WarioWare Twisted! With A GameCube
Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass Price?
If they include other expansion packs/DLC to this model of NSO then it'll be a far different picture for me that might be worth looking into.
If the Animal Crossing DLC and other stuff is really the bulk of what you get from this alone, then no, I can live quite happily without the N64 and Sega games as nice as they'd be.
Re: Best Ace Attorney Games Of All Time
Apollo Justice does not deserve to be below Justice for All imo and the same the other way around.
Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds
2/2 @Drac_Mazoku
The whole, entire point of my comment is to highlight my personal feelings towards this policy. Not everyone feels the same way as I do. I understand that. I respect that.
If I were to finally come up with a good example (different industry) that summarises what I've been trying to say this entire time, it'd be this:
Some people are vegetarians not because they think they can make a difference in the world, but because they can't stand to take part in it.
Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds

Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds
Re: Metroid Dread Staff Say They've Been Left Out Of The Game's Credits, MercurySteam Responds
Re: Poll: What's The Best Ace Attorney Game?
Despite my profile picture, it's gotta be Trials and Tribulations for me whilst the original game on DS comes an extremely close 2nd for me (I know it's on gameboy originally but DS has an amazing 5th case).
It wasn't asked for but my personal least favourite is Justice For All while every other game has sat comfortably at a "great" and "excellent" behind my top 2.
Re: Poll: Metroid Dread Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
@fafonio Sometimes they don't price drop at all. I think I remember seeing one of the old Pokemon DS games the other day still at the exact same price it would've been at release.
Re: Review: Monster Crown - Enjoyably Old-School Monster Battling For Pokémon Lovers
Re: Review: Monster Crown - Enjoyably Old-School Monster Battling For Pokémon Lovers
Honestly, I don't want to hear people say "the designs are derivative of pokemon" unless they:
A: Actually copy the very design foundation of an existing pokemon.
or B: Instead acknowledge that pokemon designs these days are so inconsistent that literally anything can pass as a pokemon when it's not.
Pokemon simply just has the monopoly on the "monster catching" market. It did not invent it.
Re: Build Your Own Village In Staxel, The Latest Farming Sim Headed To Switch
Re: Jet Set Radio Artist And Former Yakuza Director Ryuta Ueda Returns To Sega
@noobish_hat Do I dare ask what on earth you're talking about on an article talking about an old employee returning??
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
@johnvboy Mhm, I'd be in full agreement but unfortunately it's as you say that my concern does indeed lay with the future further out.
Glad to hear you're in that easy a position though.
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
@johnvboy Again I point to my first comment here:
"It's still too soon" so I said.
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
@CammyUnofficial Yes it's a consumer's problem. One created by the provider. You aren't saying anything profound, that's what FOMO is, plain and simple.
I was expecting this type of comment but not for you to ignore the point entirely.
You literally cannot say that a product literally advertised as "limited stock" shouldn't have the expectations of "limited stock". That makes zero sense and only serves to antagonise people who only read the label for what it says.
Re: Poll: Can You Still Find Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
Re: Poll: Pokémon Unite Is Imminent But Divisive - Are You Planning To Try It?

Re: Poll: Pokémon Unite Is Imminent But Divisive - Are You Planning To Try It?
@Kensui I don't buy EA games, I stopped buying Ubisoft games when the allegations came out even though I was looking forward to the latest Assassin's Creed at the time, and I most certainly never touch games made by Tencent.
I understand you're one of those "it'll make money anyway xD" people, but understand that people who don't want to support awful companies usually mean it, whether it makes a difference to the overall result or not.
I'm fine with people going ahead and getting this game if they really want to, but mocking those who choose not to do so themselves is what we call obnoxiously disrespectful.
Re: Poll: Pokémon Unite Is Imminent But Divisive - Are You Planning To Try It?
