Don't fully bet on this being cross-gen. Based on the YT description, it makes it seem so. Kinda bumming though, but the next gen systems do need their system sellers.
Love the designs of the two ninjas, hope the rest of the roster get a major overhaul since MK9 (though still good) had a semi lackluster character art. If this stays PS4/XBone exclusive, I'll definitely consider upgrading my gaming setup. Maybe. Anyway, can't wait for E3 to see the real game engine.
Also, the trailer music has to be one of the most poorly chosen tracks to go with the video. Blergh
MM III is definitely the middle ground of the five games but it's still a blast to play. I played it again on the Gameboy just to see if it holds up better than what I remember, and it definitely does. It isn't really as hard as many other fans would claim it to be but I think it's still one of the more challenging games of the GB series behind Dr. Wily's revenge.
I may have to double dip this game just so I can play the game in english, as with the 2 sequels after it.
Yeah, kinda expected this kind of score from you, but I'd rate the game a 5/10. It's a bad game sure, but I had some fun with it. I guess the bad level design was clouded by the game's super-easy difficulty, I could just plow through the game in less than an hour just to listen to that sweet tune.
Speaking of which, as one member stated earlier, a good chunk of the music is not bad, it's just that the devs for whatever reason decided to use high pitched instruments.
Also, Glad you mentioned that awful pile that is the Mega Man DOS game. No player deserves to dare touch this.
Hmm, I was really betting on MMV or Xtreme 2 to win the polls. Xtreme just felt like a rehash of X1&2 with %10 new content and an awkward dashing from what I remember playing... I'll still get it just to see if my opinion still holds true though.
MM IV and V are surprisingly polished for a GB game and is a blast to play. I'd rank them better than MM 4, 5 & 6 on the NES IMO. But I'd skip MMII if I were you.
The Neo Geo Pocket Color was definitely the definition of an under appreciated Gaming console. The display was great for a screen without a backlight and the control stick had a great "click" to it. I'm still rocking my copy of Rock Man: Power Battle & Fighters and Pacman to this day and plan to nab the Match of the Millenium in the near future. The system had a really great library of fighters and arcade ports.
To be expected and for a game like this, the score is justifiable for someone who has played the original. It will be a harmless game for the kids, sure, but there are way better platformers on the 3DS as it is. I'll be getting kirby anyway.
Sales aside, this is quite a barren week actually, was hoping for SMB3. Might go for Chibi Robo since Park Patrol was a guilty pleasure, may still have to wait for reviews though.
Well, more time to polish up the game then. That also gives me more time to finish up the list of my backlog for this year. Anyway, still a day one purchase from me, I loved RR and thought the first one was decent enough.
@dequessi She indeed is one of the designers based on her twitter posts. But even if she is, She will have no impact on the art direction. I don't see why a lot of people are over-analyzing things, Her job again wont have any drastic effect on the game's development.
Feminism and Feminazi?
If people would criticize her, it should be her job as a CM, and even then it AGAIN will not affect the game's direction and development.
As a designer, it is her job to make artworks of the NPC's which will be based by the Lead designer's art style and approved by them. I doubt the inputs she suggested will ever be granted by the lead designers and, based on that fan art she did, will not represent the final product.
Her being a feminist and a non MM player will in no way affect the development of the game. I do hope this backlash will not get out of hand, I've already seen too much over reactions throughout the web thank you.
I've said it once on another site but, if Sega finds it in their hearts to give Ristar the 3D classic treatment in all its layered glory, I will personally buy all the other 3D classics releases on the service... even the inferior Altered Beast port which I despise to this day.
@xxbrothawizxx No. I posted in Qubic games' site about the framerate and they replied saying that though they weren't able to run on 60 fps, they will have the game running Smoothly with or without 3D enabled.
For a pick up and play game, this definitely is right up my alley. Enjoyed AiRace Tunnel back on DSiWare, will definitely get this. Hoped it would have been 60 fps but online leaderboards are always welcomed.
I definitely want this in my collection, hopefully the book also contains works from the past Complete works. But darn, I never payed more than $20 for a book before, even if it is an art book. Guess I'll have to wait awhile before I can get my hands on this one.
Guys at all costs, you're all better off spending $15 dollars to play Mega man 2, 4 & 5 on the 3DS rather than this licensed mess which has stages from those three games. That is if it does come to the eshop.
The only good thing that will come out of it is that it may spark enough interest for capcom to release the last four GB Mega man games.
Heard the Arcade version was the good game, not sure if I'll get this. But I'll be all over the first two 3D releases. Just hope this isn't the last game to be given the 3D Classic treatment, there are other Sega Classics that will be glorious in 3D.
@Barbiegurl777 Have you tried Gunman Clive? If so, it might give you an insight on how the Mega man games play. The MM NES games on the eshop are basically run'gun platformers but seriously, it's better to watch some videos on youtube to get a better idea. If you are looking for a game that is tough as nails, yet has good level design, memorable bosses and obtainable weapons, Mega man is worth a look. Personally, I'd recommend you to try Mega man 2 since it's the easiest of all the ones released.
I fully support Level-5's Guild series, hope these name trademarks are what I think they are... and based on names alone I'm guessing: Wonderflick - Fantasy adventure with touch screen controls. Rare Drop Adventurer Note - A quirky looting game. Earth Devastating B-Rank Girlfriend - Either a visual dating sim or something similar to Liberation Maiden.
Probably will consider if Harry Partridge has anything to do with the game, if not I'll give it a pass unless it turns out to be a surprisingly good game.
I liked the first game, but it had its glaring problems. When I saw the trailer for the 2nd game, it was basically a DLC pack from the first with some extra elements added in and your review just sealed it. I'm still irked that the team did not opt for an all button control option, surely it wouldn't be much of a hassle if they worked it in like the leftie option.
I want this series to thrive, I really do. It's fresh to see a new Ninty IP especially with attractive character art and setting. But I wouldn't count this as a great sequel if the devs just basically added flare to coat the game's flaws and not address it directly. I'm sure this is a good game, but having played the first game, I will pass this up for better options on the eshop.
@Dpishere I played both and I can tell you that Nano Assault EX is less hectic than Geometry Wars though it still offers a decent challenge IMO. I wasn't really bothered on how everything glowed in GW(though it has been a long time since I played that game), but Nano Assault is tamer in terms of color if that's what you want to hear.
For this price, it's an addictive arcade shooter that's great for short play sessions, making for a perfect Download title. I actually enjoyed the Online Co-op more than Revelation's Raid mode, maybe because of the enemies or the fact Claire's in it, I dunno. I heard the Japanese eshop release allowed you to reset your Game data, unlike its retail release, so hopefully that same feature is retained here.
Considering this is an up port of the DS retail game(a great game, mind you), I guess it is worth a shot. Seeing that it has Online and maintains 60 fps(with 3D), I might bite even if it basically is an up-scaled DS game. This review Sold me anyway when it came out on the DS
Can't wait to see more of the two titles that aren't from Inafune-san. On one hand you have a Dungeon crawler/Horror hybrid and on the other a weird Japanese Monster Vs Monster game where you play as one of the civillians.
Nice to see the continuing habit games from Shin'en having that smooth visuals, their Art of Balance Touched remains one of the best looking titles for the 3ds. Can't wait for this, the eshop needs more 3D platformers.
Well, I at least expected a 5 knowing. Was really hoping Nicalis at least added some extra elements (3D effects aside) to this game. $2 would be more reasonable or $3, but it seems that Nicalis is banking on Pixel's fame. They're planning to release Guxt, a shmup by pixel. I just hope they price it reasonably.
@Geonjaha Thanks for pointing that out, My mistake lol. But... What exactly do you see about the main Pokemon series falling from grace? The series is still highly regarded and the basic formula can still be improved. Besides, if you find the series too repetitive then it's not for you, I'm sure there are millions of Kids who only played the DS series most likely that are clamoring for this game. It can be repetitive yes, but it hasn't fallen from grace. It's not like Gen I was the best in the franchise, Subjectively speaking.
So Pokemon X/Y, Monster Hunter 4, Dragon Quest 7, Ace Attorney 5, Todomachi Collection 3DS and Layton 6 will be scheduled for 2013 in Japan? The 3DS is sure to sell big time, at least in Japan.
@Geonjaha What about Pokemon has lost dignity exactly? As I recall, Gen V was a large improvement over Gen IV.
Nicely done, and I almost agree to all the points you've made. Hope you do a part 3, Megaman and Bass along with the Gameboy titles(4&5 especially) deserve some recognition besides a few references.
I actually prefer this review over the last one. The other review focused too much on the story and it left out half of the problems I had with the game aside from the game crashing bug, inaccurate stylus controls for the puzzle segments. Great review Mike.
That aside, I was really drawn into the story. It was not perfect by any means and there are some twists and inconsistencies that had me shaking my head, but it was good enough to keep me up for a whole night. I'll be there when another sequel pops up and I know the creator confirmed it.
@Jogurt Well Megaman 5 is releasing next week at Japan, and considering how fast Capcom distributed the Rockman Games on the Japanese eshop, I can bet you They will get Megaman 6 just in time for Megaman's 25th at December.
But really, I'm willing to give Capcom my money justto get these MM games onto the eshop pronto.
Gorgeous 2D spritework in layered 3D? Hook it to my veins please! With the File restriction gone, I'm hoping this will be more substantial than Risky's Revenge which I still enjoyed. Also
I' say every Classic Megaman game is worth checking out just for the unique Robot masters and their respective weapons. Can't wait to nab this once it hits NoA and do a Rolling cutter run again. The hard part for me was the yellow devil, but thanks to a certain weapon glitch, I took him down easy surprisingly enough and then the rest of the game was a breeze.

Re: Six Portable Mega Man Games, Including Mega Man Xtreme and its Sequel, Coming to 3DS Virtual Console

@CanisWolfred C'mon man, you don't really mean that for 3D Shinobi III do you? Ninja platforming action should be the highlight for this line.
