Re: New Kid Icarus: Uprising Trailer Shows Dark Pit

KarrotMan

The cheezy voice acting is great IMO, its like watching an intentionally B movie where you just can't help but laugh at it. Really gives the game a non serious attitude. The main character himself was intended to be a more laid back goofy version of LInk.

Anyway, its the ground section controls I'm worried about. This game is a perfect candidate for the Frankenstick attachment and hopefully it does support it because I don't see any article that says it will. I'll get getting the game none the less, those arial sections look great, especially in 3D

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Finally Lands on 3DS in March

KarrotMan

Wait, it supports the frankenstick? Where does it say it will support it, got a link? Because if it does, this game gives me an incentive to buy the extra circle pad, aside from monster hunter. One of my highly anticipated handheld 2012 titles for sure, can't wait for this to come out.

Re: Feature: Memorable Zelda Moments

KarrotMan

I certainly loved the part in Ocarina of time where you play a certain song in front of Darunia and how Link reacts to this afterwards. It was priceless and I was just smiling the whole time.

Re: Review: Shinobi (3DS)

KarrotMan

I thought this would score low, but I'm happy to know that it fared well for you. I was interested from the start, but was put off due to some previews. I'm in need for a Ninja gaming fix after playing the Strider series years ago, so I'll be looking into getting this game later next year.

Re: Feature: Ten Games to Play This Halloween

KarrotMan

A DS/gba and a Playstation 3 is all I need for the ultimate Resident Evil/Castlevania-marathon to keep me company this season. Can't wait to get back to all the retro creepiness that I cherished years ago. Also, This would be the perfect opportunity to complete Dead Space 2. I will stay up all night just for the occasion come 10/ 31.

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About Castlevania

KarrotMan

Great read guys, Castlevania is one of the most consistent series from Konami IMO (The 2D games as far as I'm concerned.) As a whole, I'd consider the metroidvania titles to be better than the classic ones, with the only exception of Rondo of Blood, which I believe was the series' peak. I just hope Konami continues the tradition of releasing 3 games for the 3DS.

Re: Kid Icarus, Kirby Getting 3D Classics Makeovers

KarrotMan

I'll take them all. Never played Kid Icarus, played only half of the Kirby gba remake, and that Swapnote seems like the much awaited messaging system with added features, plus those extra 3DSware games look great. I just need all their release dates. Its a shame though that we didn't get much details on the Gba ambassador games.

Re: New Fantasy Life Trailer is the Cutest Thing You'll See Today

KarrotMan

I'm really hyped for this game, and hopefully Level-5 has the heart to put this out overseas. It is currently my #1 most wanted. From what I can make out, this is an Simulation/RPG with 20 different ways to play. Fighting monsters as a soldier or tilling your crops as a farmer, I can't wait to hear more on the other jobs.

Re: Feature: Castlevania - The Terrifying Ten

KarrotMan

My favorite was always Rondo of Blood or Darcula X if you may, Followed by Order of Ecclesia, then Symphony of the Night, then Portait of Ruin and then Aria of Sorrow. Only played the first level of Super Castlevania and it was great, too bad I don't have a Snes anymore.

I've been noticing a trend on the release of Castlevania games on the Nintendo Portables, 3 games each system, I hope this continues on the 3DS, or maybe the Vita, be it Classic-style, 3D-style or metroidvania-style Castlevania I'm buying it no matter what.

Re: Feature: Resident Evil's Most Nightmare-Inducing Moments

KarrotMan

I played the first game, and while I didn't find it nightmare inducing at all, it really gave me alot of tension, anticipating whether or not a zombie might pop out of the next room. The Eerie Music really added to the atmosphere and gave me the chills back then. I'm currently in the police station in RE2, and I really hate those Lickers, especially in the interrogation room.
The only part in Re4 I would consider scary, are the Regenerators/Iron Maidens, the rest of the game is purely shock-value to me, which isn't a bad thing. That Dr. Salvador really caught me off-guard the first time I fought him, I wil never forget that part.

Re: Review: Frogger 3D (3DS)

KarrotMan

What a shame, but at least it isn't as bad as I feared it to be. But I still hate that there are cheap deaths. As long as it surpasses the PSone game, I might look into it when it's available for trade.

Re: Review: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (3DS Virtual Console / Game Boy)

KarrotMan

Different strokes for different folks. I personally found it to be on par with the original GB game. They may be short in length, but it never gets old. I can finish them three times straight, and I would still find it amusing. And to the people who think $4 is expensive, really? It's similar to buying 2 cups of coffe from Starbucks, what's there to lose?

Re: Review: 3D Classics: TwinBee (3DSWare)

KarrotMan

@15 Twinbee definitely is the more approachable game, even for newcomers. More appeal, better gameplay, better 3D, has actual powerups, cheaper price, and it is more forgiving in terms of difficulty. Thats not to say I didn't enjoy Xevious(a solid 8 for me), if you have the extra money, you could bite into xevious if you don't mind the dated gameplay.

Re: Talking Point: Why No Plans for GBA on 3DS Virtual Console?

KarrotMan

Option D is likely. They did say they have no plans "at the moment" so its possible they are buying time. They wont release them now though, the GB games need to sell first. Though I do want the big N to pick up the pace, where are our Gamegear and Turbografx VC titles you announced months ago?

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd September 2011 (North America)

KarrotMan

I will get Twinbee since my 3DS is in need of more shmups and nothing else.
@Waveboy Well the best part of 3D classic Urban champ for me was the 3d effect (best 3D out of the 3 games imo), and I certainly enjoy it from now and then, but this game can get monotonous. Just make sure you know what you're getting from this game.

Re: Review: BIT.TRIP SAGA (3DS)

KarrotMan

Well, the exclusion of online leaderboards and multiplayer doesn't bother at all, (No one I personally know owns a 3ds) and since I'm more of a handheld gamer and don't have a Wii I'll be getting this for sure even if it does have some framerate issues. This will look Glorious in 3D.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th September 2011 (North America)

KarrotMan

Will get megaman since I lost my GB cartridge collection years ago. Hopefully I still have skills to beat this game, but hey, save states make everything easier. Capcom better release the other games, but looking at their WiiVC releases, I'd have to wait another year to play the second one

Re: Fatal Frame Spin-Off Looms Over 3DS

KarrotMan

Sounds interesting, as if you were in the game itself. I want to hear more details before I make any decision, but so far I'm looking forward to the completion of this game. I just hope that it will be released outside of Japan.

Re: First Super Mario 3DS Screenshots Jump Into View

KarrotMan

According to the conference, this game will be released near the end of this year. It may not be the open world 64-esque Mario sequel I was hoping for, but after watching the trailer I find this game even better than I hoped it to be. Well, I guess I know when I'll be purchasing the 3DS and the Vita . Can't wait!

Re: Review: Steel Diver (3DS)

KarrotMan

Good review Corbie. I'm glad that the game had a lot of depth in terms of gameplay, but shamefully the content lacked depth. I guess the developers didn't have enough time to cram more content to this game before launch. I may get this, but only when the price drops, or if it was made as a 3dsware title when I get the 3DS in the future.

Re: Review: Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (3DS)

KarrotMan

Thanks for the review. Glad to know almost every content from the console versions made it here. Even if I don't get the 3DS on launch, I'll be getting this game since I loved playing it on the arcade and I don't have it on the PS3. Also, I really can't wait to get my hands on the limited edition lenticular boxart.

Re: Nintendo Announces North American 3DS Games Line-Up

KarrotMan

Of the three launch lineups, this one is probably the best one. And since my country's Game stores usually associate with the US market, I'd expect the same launch games to come here. And since our price is approximately $70 more than the US, I guess its not a bad Launch at all.

So far I'm interested for SF43D, PW:R, Steel Diver, Rayman and probably LEGO Star Wars3 or Nintendogs for the siblings.

Re: See Plenty of New 3DS Games in Motion Right Here

KarrotMan

So nintendo does care about us... * sniff *
Anyway these bits of news made my day and can't wait to try out RE and Mario. I won't consider getting the 3DS in the first few months after the release (due to financial issues) but the wait will be killing me.

Re: Review: Absolute Chess (DSiWare)

KarrotMan

I'm one of those people who are bad at chess yet I find this game decent. It is not by any means a shovelware game, but it's not great either. It does what it's supposed to do and does the job adequtely,(the anime portraits aren't and music that bad). for 200 points, its a must have for the chess players but still decent for others since it's cheap and supports download play. A 6 out of 10 for me.

Re: Reggie's 3DS Date Confirmation May Have Been a Mistake

KarrotMan

@34
Well the PSP go was basically a smaller PSP that's digital download only(no UMD's) to prevent piracy. People got upset because the price was too much for them for a psp with not enough changes to justify it's high price, and the other versions are below $150.

The 3DS though Is a different beast compared to the DS, Its not a revision but a successor. Would you expect to get a Handheld that sports a impressive 3D screen and an improved touch screen, 3 cameras, Motion sensors, etc. to be at the same price as the DS?

Re: Review: X-Scape (DSiWare)

KarrotMan

The game TRULY deserves that score. The game would have been a 10 for me if it wasn't for the Pink levels, they are an eye strainer and the controls that take some getting used to. Everything else was executed flawlessly making this 9 in my opinion.

Re: Review: Discolight (DSiWare)

KarrotMan

Wow, I can see the effort put into making both this and the flashlight app, the devs must have worked so hard. Anyways, I thought Reggie said that the big N chooses quality over quantity.

Re: X-Scape Launches on DSiWare on May 31st

KarrotMan

I recently got a chance to play the original X The first 3d shooter game on the gameboy, and it was great for a gameboy game . Too bad it was japanese though, I couldn't understand what I was doing at first until after an hour. I am considered sold on this sequel. Please make it 500 pts, please...
