Re: Nintendo: Phones And Tablets Aren't Games Devices

KarrotMan

@6ch6ris6 Define "real gaming", Some games work better on a large touch screen. Just played World of Goo, Broken sword and a couple of picross/3d clones a few weeks back and I couldn't find it better to play them on a system with buttons. Sorry but the definition of gaming is subjective.

Re: Review: Cave Story (3DS eShop)

KarrotMan

Played the original Freeware game, Bought the DSiware version, now I'll gladly triple dip for this and it will be Glorious. But seriously Nicalis, find another game to port, if I see a Cave Story HD remix edition U, I will cry.

Re: First Impressions: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate

KarrotMan

Disliked the choices to make the game akin to LoS, but seeing that I did enjoy the last half of that game after a first horrible impression, I'll be willing to give this one a shot. Heck I'd get it anyway since I am a CV fan. I just pray they take out those load time monologues from the console game.

Re: Review: Marvel Pinball 3D (3DS eShop)

KarrotMan

Got both the Zen and Marvel tables and I definitely couldn't recommend both of them enough. But if you had to choose only one get Marvel. Even if its a dollar more, it has better challenge, a little more objectives and definitely more superhero power.

Re: Talking Point: Another Look at the News - 22nd June

KarrotMan

Different stroke for different folks, and it seems that there is a polarized reception around these sites. Personally, I'm part of the demographic that wants a bigger screen, so by the time they come out with the color I want in a year or two, I'll be trading in my old system. I really dig the form factor of the XL so far.

Re: Level-5 Trademarks Professor Layton and Miracle Mask

KarrotMan

Every puzzle has an answer... If you are wondering about PL vs AA, I'd suggest you wait for a TGS announcement. We don't know much about the gameplay aside from the courtroom video given half a year ago.

As for the Mask of Miracles, I'm down for it. More Layton games is always welcome.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th May 2012 (North America)

KarrotMan

Played two levels of the Rayman origins demo, and I got what I expected... a half baked and somewhat choppy port compared to the console version. That's not to say it was bad or anything, but it is a rough job. For the most part, the game still manages to look stunning albiet blurry, and manages to run at a stable frame rate Even if it runs at half of what the console version is running at.

What disappoints me for the most part is the Sound, most of which are compressed. Other than that, it was an adequate effort to fit Origins to the small screen, though I do hope Ubisoft fixes some issues before launch.

Re: Miyamoto to Show Wii U Mario at E3

KarrotMan

2 options I'd either like to see:
If its a 2d style Mario, no more "New Super Mario" in the title. Sure it's going to be a best seller, but the generic 2.5D art style grew old for me fast. It was cool for the DS game, but not if you will make it its own series. I'd love it to be hand drawn 2D models similar to A boy and his blob or Wario shake it, and have its own unique hook(ie gameplay mechanics, powerups, etc). Also, one of the things that was awesome about the NSMB games was the multiplayer aspect, it seems mandatory now.

If its a 3D style game, I'd like to see it to be more of 64 and Sunshine where you have a more free roaming playfield. A central hub that branches out to different levels (Each of which has a number of different objectives which ends with a star). 3Dland was great, but I preferred something more open ended.

Off course, this is just what I wish to see. I expect NSMB Wii to be fleshed out for the WiiU's launch line up.

Re: Review: Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

KarrotMan

Happy to hear you liked it. Bummer though that they are not supporting twin stick gameplay, but at least I still dug the MPH style controls. This game is getting its fair share of "critical" reviews, but as long as reviewers such as Eurogamer(9) and Edge(8) score it well, then I see no reason why I shouldn't nab this game ASAP.

Re: Be Careful When Watching This Kid Icarus Medusa Trailer

KarrotMan

Let me get this straight... with the purchase of this software we are entitle to a cliched doppelganger, cheesy dialog, space calamari, an eggplant and now tempura wizard and... a robot armor... A Robot Armor?!? Anything that reminds me of Megaman X gets my interest.

Re: Interview: Camille and Kennerly - The Harp Twins

KarrotMan

Great job girls, I really enjoyed that, especially the one from Guns and Roses. Glad to see that there are still some harpists, especially when they can also take on modern songs. The Harp is one of the most difficult instruments to master and I was beginning to think it was a lost art. Hope you guys go far.

Re: Capcom Open to More 3DS Resident Evils

KarrotMan

@WaveBoy Gone the same way as Dark Stalkers... to it's eternal grave

Anyway I am open to more RE goodness, just rerelease REmake and make REmake 2 and I will buy every Capcom title released on all current Nintendo consoles. You have my word for it.

Re: Nintendo Rejects The Binding of Isaac

KarrotMan

Ehh, its disappointing yes, but I am more disappointed at the fact that Nintendo or whoever is responsible for disapproving this for a rating won't take the risk. I know this game has Controversial themes and will upset the religious groups, but in the end, its just a harmless game that was never meant to be taken seriously in the first place. If some find it disturbing, just ignore it, I'm sure Nintendo has filtered their Online shop well to block out the Mature rated titles from the minors... Oh wait, they didn't.

Oh well, like the others said, I guess its Nintendo being Nintendo, wanting to protect their image as a "family friendly" company and please the masses sensitivity. A missed opportunity really, would have wanted to play this on the go but there's always Steam I guess.

Re: eShop Game Size Limit is 2GB

KarrotMan

Nice, So now I hope Team meat decides to port one of their games to the service, Controversial or not.
So it is true on what Iwata said on retail games on the eShop... Well, I guess I could now hope for a Steel Diver rerelease on the service... Its getting rarer by the minute at my place.

Re: Nintendo Resurrects Dreamcast's Seaman for 3DS

KarrotMan

Never played this game, but I always wanted to try it out, just think of the conversations we will have with these... things. Especially with the 3D on, I will have Seaman all over my face

Also, Jet set Radio 3D, Ristar and Vectorman 3D classics and I will die happy.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Gets Intense New Trailer

KarrotMan

Yup, the game took some cues from TWEWY and I hope other developers do the same. Gamers need to be rewarded for their skills. This game has alot going for it, just hope it stands up well on its feet by the time it releases.

Re: Review: Anne's Doll Studio: Gothic Collection (DSiWare)

KarrotMan

Good job on the review CB, and I thought you loved to play dress up with dolls Anyway from your explanation, I've seen flash dress up titles that have far more customization than this, even being able to share the creations via FB. Yeah, I'll be sticking with Style Savvy for the 3/DS... for my sister yup.

Re: Kid Icarus: Uprising Trailer Shoots Past

KarrotMan

@Angel_fur Or maybe it was intended to be Cheezy in the first place? It fits the game pretty well if you ask me. Goofy voice acting can be done well, just look at Starfox 64. I can't make judgment as the game isn't out yet, but I'm getting 80's cartoon vibes from this, so it may be great.

Anyway, I'm excited for this game, Sakurai is really ambitious with this title. The biggest problem for me is the controls. But as someone who dug MPH, I think I'll be alright and the stand could be helpful. Week one for sure.

Re: North America Gets 3DS eShop Demos Tomorrow

KarrotMan

@Navi Nah, they just love to look for something to complain about. Anyway, I'm excited to finally try out RE:R after playing that demo on the Mercs game to see how far it has improved. Also, can't wait to try out Rayman, loved the console version, hopefully this isn't gimped.

Re: Konami Dissolving Hudson Soft

KarrotMan

It's sad to see Hudson go. Well I just hope for the best that Konami will have the heart to continue the IP's like Bomberman. Speaking of Bomberman, There was a supposed game for the 3DS that was in development just before Hudson's bankruptcy. Here is a screenshot for the game:
Untitled

Just hope that this isn't vaporware.... I love Bomberman just as I do for Megaman.

Re: 3DS Demos Launch in Europe eShop Tomorrow

KarrotMan

Nice, that means NOA will follow shortly I hope since I can't wait to try out RE:R and Rhythm thief, also cooking mama. So is it safe to asume that there is a 30 play limit like the Jap versions?

@Cero nope the Circle pad pro is optional if you want to play the game ala RE5. Otherwise it controls similarly to RE4 and Mercs3D, both of which plays just as well.

Re: Kid Icarus's 3DS Stand Coming to North America Too

KarrotMan

A free stand you say? So it is indeed meant to be played ala MPH. Oh well, there goes any hope for a dual analog option thrown out the window. Not that I'm complaining though, I'm still buying it. As for the free stand, hey no more hand cramps online so good for Sakurai I guess, I doubt I'll be using it much though, The 3DS already looks chunky with the Frankenstick already.
Anyway, I'm excited no matter what they add, and still have hope for this release.

Re: Rayman Origins 3DS Grabs Europe by the Globox on 16th March

KarrotMan

Hmm... a large part of the fun for Rayman Origins was the local multiplayer, and I have beed keen on most of Ubi's ports on the 3DS(especially since they have been too quiet on the details), yet I am still interested in playing this game in portable form in 3D or in an OLED screen. Will wait for the reviews though. Rayman Origins was great, but sometimes a great game can be ruined by a shoddy port.

Re: Interview: Mutant Mudds Reader Questions

KarrotMan

I'll be buying it still, If only to support one of the people responsible for Dementium(3DS version please)... also retro platformers with gimmicks clicks on me. Thats not to say I'm happy with the pricing though, I was expecting a price of $7-8 to be honest. I do hope replayability plays a huge factor in this game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 29th December 2011 (North America)

KarrotMan

Some impressions on VVVVVV. The game is very solid so far, just rescued the first person, and I love the Gravity switching mechanic. The Graphics and the Music are really solid, but the s3D is barely noticeable. Outside the main game, you can adjust the settings(Invincibility, slowdowns, etc.) and also play some of the user generated levels built in the game, sadly, I cannot find the Level editor, maybe I just have to unlock it.

tl;dr this game is a great retro style metroidvania but it doesn't set itself apart from the Steam version

Re: 3DS Ambassador GBA Games Out Friday in Europe

KarrotMan

22 free 3DS games in one year, and from Nintendo by all companies... well 24 if you're registered for Club Nintendo. Can't say Nintendo made a smart move with the 3DS release, but hey Free Games!!! And with the release of ten Spectacular GBA Ambassador releases (I'm looking at you Yoshi), I have a busy Holiday break ahead of me. Thank you Nintendo for the presents and Merry Christmas
