What worries me is that Nintendo's taking so much of my money before the big games have even started arriving. It's going to be a broke but gaming-filled second half of the year!
Free to play and that kind of thing are fine, because it's great for people who might be on the fence about a game, but I'd like for there to also be the option to pay the standard price and get the whole game in one go.
Alright, let me bring a little happiness to this post.
As someone who never owned a Wii, this list suits me just fine. Plus, this is this week's batch of downloads. There very well might be another decent lot next week. I don't think we can really judge the situation until we've seen how Nintendo plans to release the Wii's back catalogue.
If they released the entire catalogue now, those who are new to the service wouldn't be able to get everything all in one go and would likely miss out on a lot of the good games. With Nintendo's current financial situation, I imagine that the GBA and N64 games aren't that far around the corner either.
The actual PS4 console has yet to be seen, and Durango hasn't even been officially announced, so based on what evidence can he confidently say that they will outsell the Wii U?
This constant barrage of pessimism drives me crazy.
It doesn't change the fact that I was going to get the game now owing to the rather sad release schedule. By September there'll be new Nintendo titles to be played, so chances are it'll get pushed down the list a bit.
Multi-platform: fine. But then release the Wii U version (which is presumably nearly finished) and let PS3 and XBox get their versions in September.
By the time it releases now it'll be drowned out on Wii U by 1st party titles, and people will be waiting for the new Sony and Microsoft consoles, so I don't see it doing much better there either. Bad move Ubisoft.
What Nintendo desperately needs are some new IPs. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario, Zelda, Kirby and all the others, but it does feel a bit like Nintendo's resting on its laurels. Time for them to show what made them great in the first place.
All that said, I don't read this as Iwata saying he'll stand down. The gaming industry has changed and the world economy isn't exactly booming, so the going is gonna be tough for a while. I'll back them all the way though
OK, I'm not usually one to complain, but I'd really like an update to the Wii U eShop right about now. Or, like everyone else has said, at least move the VC over to the eShop. I'm not stocking up on Wii points only for them not to work in the eShop later on.
Give me a new 3DS / Wii U Wario platformer (I do love Mario, but it's time for him to take a break for a while), a remake of Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire on 3DS, a Wii U Virtual Console and maybe some Game Boy Advance games on the 3DS VC and I'll be one very happy gamer
PETA has clearly never played a Pokemon game or watched any tie-in media. If they had they'd understand that there is no similarity between real-life animal cruelty and a video game that doesn't actually include any animals. Even cruelty against Pokemon is tackled in the series...
Obviously I understand that some people enjoy playing on tablets, but for me personally it comes down to pricing and longevity. An iPad is more expensive than my 3DS (and I got mine at launch before the price cut). Within a year that iPad will be outdated and a new one will be on shelves. My 3DS will be good for about 5 years (as my DS was) before its replacement is launched. I don't agree with everything Nintendo does, but at the end of the day they themselves make awesome games on a piece of hardware that I've gotten hours of fun out of. I can't see a tablet with a questionable line up of software that needs to be constantly replaced to get the most out of them to do the same thing for me. But that's just my personal opinion.
I feel so bad for people in America. Why launch a 3DS Virtual Console service if you aren't going to make things available for it? Instead it's all mainly 3rd party shovelware being loaded onto the eShop. NOA needs to get its act in order.
@Windy Hey, for some of us the Virtual Console is a great service. To be perfectly honest, it's half the reason I bought the 3DS in the first place. If this isn't what you're looking for, what do you want from the eShop?
@Hyperstar96 Keep calm now, this really isn't that big a deal. I'm all for digital downloads and think it's a great idea. For me, personally, alone, without prejudice or wanting to enforce that opinion on anyone else, the system isn't quite as secure as I would like it to be (again, my OPINION). If everyone else is happy to download to the system, more power to them.
I would pay that price for the game to download IF the 3DS had an account system. Personally I like the convenience of having everything on the system and not having to swap carts out all the time, but I'd at least like to know that if something happened to my machine I could easily get all my files back.
@Miroku Agreed. I love platforming games, and Mutant Mudds seemed perfect. It's not that it's bad per se, but it has these stupid spikes in difficulty (those stupid shifting platforms for example) that are just frustrating. A check point system would have been nice.
So we complain for months that Mutant Mudds hasn't arrived and then we complain because of its price? It's meant to be one of the best games on the eShop with quite a bit of content. If people are so crazy about mobile gaming then buy an iPhone, have at it and stop whinging.
A point to bear in mind is that there's still 6 months until the Wii U launches. If they reveal everything now the excitement will have long since died down by the time the consol hits the shelves. They need to dish out enough information to keep people interested, but hold enough back that they can keep people interested until people can actually buy one. It's marketing 101 really.

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th June (Europe)
Awesome week, and this is before anything gets announced tomorrow!
Re: Nintendo Download: 6th June (Europe)
Nothing for me this week, but like a lot of people I have a huge backlog on both the Wii U and 3DS I need to work my way through, so no major loss.
Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd May (Europe)
What worries me is that Nintendo's taking so much of my money before the big games have even started arriving. It's going to be a broke but gaming-filled second half of the year!
Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 17th May, Covering Summer Titles on Wii U and 3DS
Am I the only one really hyped to find out more about Yarn Yoshi?
Re: Game & Wario Gets Crazy in Europe on 28th June
This sounds a lot more fun that I was expecting. If the reviews are good, I'll definitely get it.
Re: Nintendo Has Plans to Deliver "New Offers" In Download Stores

Re: Rejoice, Mario Kart Wii U Is Coming This Year
Oh yeah! And just in time - gotten to the point where I can drive the tracks in MK7 with my eyes shut
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but will the new 'Super Mario Bros.' game be the 3D Mario that's already been announced?

Re: DuckTales: Remastered Focus Testing Reveals That Kids Don't Know Jack These Days
An entire generation wasted. Such a shame.
Re: Kung Fu Rabbit Skillfully Sneaking Its Way Onto The North American Wii U eShop In May
It's alright. Think of it as a decent-priced time killer rather than an amazing platformer.
Re: Wii U Virtual Console Will Arrive Shortly After Next Week's System Update
I didn't own a Wii, and I haven't had any other home console since the original NES, so I'm super excited to build up my retro collection.
Re: Nintendo Download: 18th April 2013 (Europe)
Hey, it's a really good week! Gonna get Kung Fu Rabbit, Kirby's Adventure, Super Little Acorns and Dig Dug. That should keep me busy for a while
Re: Nintendo Download: 14th March 2013 (Europe)
The first Viking Invasion was a lot of fun, so might give the second one a go.

Re: Tails Adventure And Crystal Warriors Get Rated For Western Release
Will definitely get Tails Adventure when it's released. We need some new Game Gear games on the VC.
Re: Nintendo Download: 28th February 2013 (Europe)
Whilst I appreciate the 3DS VC being alive, I do wish we could get something other than NES games all the time.

Re: Nintendo Download: 31st January 2013 (Europe)
Will give Zen Pinball 2 a go, but getting seriously disappointed in the lack of 3DS VC games. Really want a good GB or GBC game...
Re: Nintendo Reveals Specific Dates For Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign
F-Zero, Kirby's Adventure and Super Metroid for me.
Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The Wii U Direct Presentation Live
My body's ready!
Re: Wii U Direct Scheduled For Tomorrow
I'm hoping for the Wii U VC, but if they're announcing new 1st party games it's gonna be awesome no matter what it is.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th January 2013 (Europe)
The Cave looks very cool. Will try the demo out and see.
Psst... Nintendo! 3DS VC? Anything? Anything at all?
Re: Nintendo Download: 17th January 2013 (Europe)
Come on Nintendo, I'm in the mood for a good Game Boy game on the VC. Help me out here!
Re: Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Caught In Worldwide Release This October
GIVE THEM TO ME NOW!!!
Re: New Pokémon Nintendo Direct Appearing On 8th January
Take me back to Hoenn!
R/B/Y on the VC also wouldn't hurt...

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th December 2012 (Europe)
Wario Land 3 all the way! Now I'll have all four of them on VC
Also, 2 Fast 4 Gnomz looks to cute to pass on...
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th October 2012 (Europe)
I loved Mighty Bomb Jack back in the day. Might get it, even if it's only for nostalgic reasons.

No VC again this week? What gives? Really hoping to see Wario Land 3 sometime soon so I can complete my collection
Re: Nintendo Download: 13th September 2012 (Europe)
I'll give Bookstore Dream a spin. At that price it really isn't much of a risk, and I love management sims.
Re: Does This iOS Monster Battling Game Remind You of Anything?
Apart from it being a clone, the grammar in the game is atrocious. And it's free? Proof that you get what you pay for.

Re: Kirby's Dream Land 2 Reaches Europe Next Week
Day one purchase. Loved Kirby's Dream Land, the 3D Classics version and Kirby's Block Ball, so excited to see what this one's like.
