Due to unforeseen circumstances, Nintendo of Europe wasn't able to issue the Euro Nintendo Download news yesterday. Better late than never, the update has arrived on our desk today, and as a result we've got a selection of downloadable treats for you to sample.
3DS eShop
Balloon Pop Remix (UFO Interactive, £7.20) - Despite the less than inspiring name, Balloon Pop Remix is rather jolly fun - so much so that we stated that "puzzle fans looking for a new eShop fix will have a blast" when we reviewed the North American version of Balloon Pop Remix earlier this month. However, the price tag of £7.20 (around $11.60) is a bit cheeky - especially when the NA version costs an already steep $7.99 (around £4.90).
Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D (Teyon) - If you like nothing more than blasting cartoon birds out of the sky then you might assume that Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D will be right up your street. Unfortunately, the entertainment level of this shooting gallery is limited, as you will no doubt be aware if you consulted our North American review of Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D, which went live on the site back in August. "There's no denying that this chicken is underdone," was the final, chilling verdict.
DSiWare
Crazy Chicken Pirates (Teyon, 200 DSi Points) - Essentially a 3D-less version of the 3DS edition mentioned above, the same issues apply here. There's just not enough meat on the bones to justify the purchase price - but if you need more evidence, point your browser in the direction of our Crazy Chicken Pirates review.
WiiWare
Successfully Learning English: Year 5 (Tivola, 800 Points) - Don't look now, but that annoyingly persistent vampire Freddy is back, and he wants you to learn even more about our mother tongue. We'll have a review up on the site as soon as we can extract Freddy's fangs from our text books.
Well, that was a bit of a come-down after the glorious high of La-Mulana last week, wasn't it? Will you be touching any of these titles, or are you still adventuring deep within the caves of Nigoro's 2D epic?
What will you be downloading first this week? (94 votes)

Nothing for me this week. Downloading Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 next week.
What an embarassing update. It's too bad the 3DS VC is dead again.
Still waiting for that long awaited Cave Story portable download title.
Also yeah, what gives with the large absence of Virtual Console goodies?
Theatrhythm DLC???
When is New Super Mario Bros, 2 getting DLC? I'm now bored of my game.
@Zekrom025 There are no more songs to be released for Theatrhythm - all 52 songs have now been released.
It's been a while since I've downloaded anything.
When are all the good eShop games coming out?
I'm still holding out for a North American release of Picross E.
Oh, come on. I thought at the end of chapter 4 someone staked him in the heart and killed him forever. And what's the point anyway? Freddy is not an english teaching vampire but a serial killer who uses a glove armed with razors to kill his victims in their dreams. These guys at Tivola really have no idea.
No VC again this week? What gives? Really hoping to see Wario Land 3 sometime soon so I can complete my collection
Doesn't worry me I have a long weekend coming up so it looks like I'm gonna get lost within La-Mulana caves
Seriously? No Sakura Samurai? No VC goodie?
Wow, rough week for EU. This makes me glad that all this mess has already come out in NA, so I don't have to worry about when we'll be receiving it. NINTENDO, BRING BACK DAT VIRTUAL CONSOLE.
What about all the classic GB and GBA games. It's about time Nintendo paid a bit more attention to the 3DS eShop because this weeks offerings are extremely poor.
Surely a GB game per week isn't asking too much.
Sega seem to have gone very quiet too with no GG games for a while.
Weeks like this make the Eshop Lame. Not good so far Nintendo Not good. Let's fill up the Eshop with 90% Rubbish apps just like the Apple and Android market. What a great model! If Nintendo wants to compete with those Markets they need to do more like 50% good then 50% bad. At least lower the prices on the rubbish yikes
I was hoping Europe would get Mole Mania this week.
Would've got Balloon Pop if priced more sensibly,
Nadda.
It's like Nintendo decided to feature a ShovelWare Game Week for this week!
But seriously, just bring out something decent for a change, Nintendo!
I think I'll save my Wii Points for another language based game
NA gets:
(3ds ware)
The Denpa Men: They Came By Waves
Hitori by Nikoli
(dsi ware)
kart krashers
(retail downloads, at october 1st midnight)
Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone
Crosswords Plus
@KneehighPark Welcome to NL!
What an awful update and since we got nothing on 3DS VC this week, that means we only got one 3DS VC game this month which was the awful Zelda II: The adventure of Link.
@FonistofCruxis Just remember that's your personal opinion. Many people love that game
Balloon Pop would be good but not at that price!
It's all about Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 for me next week. Never thought that'd even see a VC release, never mind so soon after Special. Just Mark of Wolves to go now and my taste for Fatal Fury will be fully satisfied.
Fail. Absolutely nothing interesting there at all. I'm holding out for Game & Watch Gallery 3 and Wario Land 3, whenever Nintendo decide to put them up on the E-Shop.
Disappointment. There has been nothing interesting for a whole month.
eShop quality is way way down and retail carts are becoming few and far between or delayed by months. The 3DS is lacking momentum. My local game shop said that the spotty release dates of quality retail carts has hurt sales. Was looking foward to Animal crossing and Luigi but date slipped from the original.
We'll probably get Quarth or Mole Mania next week.
Ive got 2 euros, and im gonna buy crazy pirate chickens 3d. It looked funny.
