Nobody ever takes you seriously, Otaku. Your opinions are prejudiced, and prejudiced opinions are rarely correct nor factual. The tiny minority of people here only agree with the forefront of your statements, not the absurd reasoning or motive behind it. The way you're going, you're nowhere near having yourself duly respected in the coming time.
Popularity =/= intelligence. Dr. Phil is a pretty popular icon in American television if I'm not mistaken, but most of his statements rarely classify him as someone worth being addressed as "Doctor". Your proclaimed "popularity" is a one-way street, and I hope to God for your own sake you learn to reform your immaturity before it's too late.
@Otaku/HarmoPrincess, you need to stop presenting your opinions as facts. It‘s the far opposite of whatever self-imagery you may have of yourself.
You may use your 3DS to “multi-task“ more than you use your iPad for its dedicated functions. That‘s your prerogrative on its use, and yours alone. The 3DS is first and foremost a gaming handheld that, while incorporating a few useful features as noteworthy gimmicks, still comes in inferior to devices dedicated to be utilised for those such purposes the applications provide, tablets and smartphones. It‘s the same way in turn that the iPad, overall, is considered inferior to the 3DS and other dedicated gaming handhelds for that such purpose; it‘s a side attraction, albeit one that has gotten surprising mass acclaim in this era. Still, that is not to say the iPad, Kindle and whatever else may you have is not a terrible device for gaming; it‘s just not the ideal primary choice from an encompassing perspective.
The iPad is built for browsing, media, word-processing and other heavy-duty functions of the sort you‘d find in a laptop; its majority of consumer utilisation portrays this, and so does the entire device itself (specs, OS, apps etc.) Nobody‘d buy it for gaming alone; it‘s only a welcome feature for less mainstream-oriented gaming types. The 3DS is built solely for gaming, and lesser so other types of media. Nobody would buy it for browsing, music, movies, eBooks or such; it‘s a gaming handheld, that‘s not what it‘s built for and those are only attractive features at most. So, you may find the 3DS passable for those certain features and you like it that way. Good, but also rather naïve seeing as you own a device that is far more superior in those purposes. The iPad still undoubtedly has more to offer than the 3DS in these things in better quality because that‘s what it‘s being sold for; your denial of this fact based solely on your preference alone is the opposite of smart, especially seeing as it isn‘t a prevalent one.
Besides, though I may not be a smartphone/tablet gamer myself despite owning one of the former, there are good games out there that surpass some handheld games out there, even if it is not a majority. World of Goo and Bit.Trip BEAT, to state two examples, are pretty swell experiences on tablets even more so because they coincide perfectly with their method controls - it‘s a good 30% the experience, and not just the game. Providing a good digital game platform doesn‘t mean it must have Nintendo exclusives or something equivalent on it to even slightly compare. If it caters to its respective audience more than well, it‘s a good and successful platform, even if it may not be a dedicated device for such use. If you want to play Mario, Zelda and Pikmin 24/7 and shut out all the other sweet stuff available to try out there, be my guest, but don‘t demean other platforms just because they don‘t appeal to your seemingly narrow tastes. It‘s unintelligent.
With the announcement of the Unity partnership with Nintendo, all the hype and encouragement would prove manipulative if Nintendo did not seize this opportunity to establish themselves as a more approachable platform to newer indie devs. The Wii sort of proved poor in comparison to XBLA and PSN in the indie sector, and I think more new IPs in this vein are crucial to the perceived success of the Wii U eShop in future. They need to grab this bull by the horns and twist it hard.
Good grief, the debates that can arise from such trivial matters.
Waltz and I rarely agree on some issues, but there's no denying his reasoning here to be legitimate, even though I'm not very partial to eReaders/tablets in general. There is an undeniable difference in quality and pixel density when it comes to these comparisons, which is why the 3DS is indubitably not the best option for dedicated reading overall when comparisons arise. I'm far from saying that an eBook app for the 3DS would be redundant (I'd be head over heels for this, though I do most of my reading physically), but when compared to the capability of dedicated devices such as the Kindle and iPad for instance, it starts to portray itself as a sort of gimmick on the 3DS. But nevertheless, it's a very welcome gimmick to me.
@Pikminsi: What on earth do you mean? It's a game engine that the Wii U now supports - meaning Unity-familiar devs can now develop games for the system through that engine, most likely to come on to the Wii U eShop. It's not an app or anything of the sort.
@R-L-A-George: You beat me to the chase. That'd actually be something I'd be happy to see happen. It's a brilliant game, and I think it'd fit very well on the Wii U.
Aside from that, I'm happy to see Unity Engine partnering with Nintendo on the Wii U. It opens a whole terrace of doors for existing mobile/PC devs to expand their horizons to console gaming - it's an easily accessible portal for them, so this should hopefully mean great things for the Wii U eShop.
@nintendogamer27: While it'd be all rosy if everyone here got along and loved Nintendo to pancaked bits, it has been stated time and again that liking Nintendo is not a requirement to be part of this site's community.
"Mobile Publisher Believes..."
I have yet to come across any mobile publisher that, against all ways of logic and reasoning, doesn't believe that mobile gaming can and will replace handheld gaming. It's absolutely ludicrous on so many levels.
They said they're "not currently" working on a Wii U version of Crysis 3. They may adopt the decision in the near future when the Wii U is out, you never know. Or preferably, we could get a different installment in the Crysis series, seeing as the Crytek engine "runs beautifully" on Wii U.
I am rather devasated though; I saw an engine trailer for the game while I was at an electronics store the other day - it was so incredibly intriguing. And to think I figuratively cried tears of joy that I could've been seeing this played on my future Wii U.
@damascus: You say that so certain, whereas with titles like ZombiU, we never would've seen something like that see the daylight on Wii. Let's not forget Project P100 and LEGO City: Undercover. Oh, Rayman Legends, quite so. Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition. Assassin's Creed III, Darksiders II, Mass Effect 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2. And a few others. This may not look so appealing or ground-breaking right now, but this is essentially the composition of the third-party launch line-up. Imagine what we could be seeing in the console's first year of release based on this alone.
Slightly lower score than I expected, but it's not too surprising. Wasn't positively decided on picking this up later, but it seems I'll pass for now. I've always been interested in trying Kingdom Hearts for a change though, so I'm sort of hoping we might see the two original games (or the first alone, really) re-mastered for the Wii U.
Angry Birds Space is already on my Android phone, as it's free - so no loss for me, there. If Rovio is serious about this new content and updates thing on the trilogy, and it makes exceptional use of gameplay mechanics, and they don't overblow the price, then I'll keep this on my radar.
If not, I'll just download all three free on my phone.
But honestly, I really only think this release is for those who unfortunately do not own smartphones. It makes no sense, because I can get all three of these games for free on my phone. This release is just akin to Cave Story 3D, if you ask me.
Many congratulations, James. That seems to be a very prestigious opportunity for you. Don't forget to re-visit the masses here whenever you have the chance. You will surely be missed... mang.
@NintendoMaster: You do realise this is Nintendo we're discussing here, not so?
This looks incredible. Make this a pre-installed app on the Wii U, and I'm sold. I'd also love to see this kind of experience implemented in games by one or two developers.
It's rather admirable that Nintendo's main ambition is to keep online services free for consumers, at all times possible. I don't mind if certain games come with subscriptions or fees of their own (reasonable ones at that), but so long as I can access the basic utility of the online Wii U services, it's all good. (glares at Microsoft)
Though for other extra-hardcore kinda features of Miiverse (premium accounts, exclusive content etc.), I'd like to see them go the PS+ route in their own way. It'd be reasonable, and rather nifty. It would definitely appeal to more intense gamers on the Wii U.
This console war banter is absolutely pathetic, if you ask me. That Spencer bloke also seems to be rather cocky about it, and it's pretty annoying. The Wii U is not attempting to idolise the 360; it's a different stand-alone next-gen console. Everybody needs to start respecting that, and stop all this comparison, in my opinion. It's very immature.
7/10? Darn, I expected an 8 at least. Not bad though.
Still choosing to buy Tekken over DoA and SSFIV, which is the reason I waited. Despite its subtle flaws, it still appeals to me the most. Roll in the punches, baby!
I just had to write up this article for another gaming site myself. It really made me wonder if we're going to see anything spectacular, given Shiggy's obvious enthusiasm. Pretty sure the colourful environment of Pikmin'll be brought to life with the Wii U's graphics.
Working on a mobile-optimized Nintendo Life? Sounds cool, as I'm only ever on NL with a phone nowadays. I do hope we get chat mobile/3DS optimized too.
New site looks cool. Wasn't really keen on the makeover when I heard of it yesterday, but it looks good. Glad we kept the smileys too~
I'm cool with it. I like the idea of smoother animation during online multiplayer; gives for more enjoyment, IMO. If you need 3D that badly, you can always just go single mode. And the inclusion of a 3D CGI-animated full-length movie? Yes, please.
This article forgot to mention three essential things; a rant on how ugly it is, a whine about how bulky it is, and another rant on how ugly it is to complement the first rant.
@Duney: NoA does have both ups and downs, you know. Not all gamers will be satisfied because half of their expectations were met, and other regions did in some way get their own hefty benefits.

Re: Fatten Mario's Wallet with New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC
This is the first announcement of DLC that I'd actually be interested in spending money on, were I to have the game. $6 for all that? Nice indeed.
Wonder what more is to come.
