Re: Mario And Yoshi First 4 Figures Statue Back In Production, Early Bird Pre-Orders Live

DuplexGemini

It's weird to hear all this uproar against amiibo pricing which I agree it’s getting more expensive, but I don't hear nearly as much moaning about when figures actually cost triple figures at the price of a console. It's like these folk have never heard of the expensive world of figure collecting.

And amiibos aren’t usually required to fully enjoy the game, many people just buy amiibo for display nowadays like anyone who would buy expensive figures would in which even with those pricier rates, are still one of the less expensive Nintendo figures to have currently.

It's fair enough if you don’t want to get amiibo anymore because of the price hikes, but also be aware you may not want to buy figures then either at high prices.

I get that the quality is high-end with these expensive figures which is why they're insanely expensive though I'd argue that despite the size, amiibo figure quality has also improved compared to when they initially launched which is one reason the hike can be justified.

Re: PSA: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Has Reportedly Leaked Online In Full

DuplexGemini

@Lizuka There will be stuff to spoil, that goes for any other franchise.

That's the same mindset of "It's a Mario game, there's nothing to spoil, he defeats Bowser and saves Peach"

That is blatantly ignoring the many surprises, secrets, twists, how it's executed that are going to make it stand out and a fresh surprise amongst every other instalment of that series.

Even if "Zelda beats up Ganon at the end", there could be a new actual new final boss that is very spoilery. Could it be a new character design you wanted to see for yourself in-game instead of someone sharing it on twitter? Its placement in the narrative with context seeing it for the first time? Awesome music you wanted to hear in the moment than having it shown everywhere on social media?

There is too many factors of why people want to avoid spoilers of a new entry in a series, regardless of presumptuously un-spoilery it may seem.

Re: Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Tops "Best Seller" Chart On Amazon, As Pre-Orders Sell Out

DuplexGemini

I agree that Skyward Sword HD is overpriced at $60/£50 but it’s just how it is with Nintendo Wii/Wii U re-releases on Switch.

Switch owners probably won’t mind paying that when some don’t have an old console to access it and other factors like playing it for the first time, ppl really wanting traditional controls etc

Not trying to justify this practice, it’s more so thinking of why Skyward Sword HD is still selling so much despite its overly high price tag.

Re: Random: Hmm, That's An Odd Name For A Bakugan Attack

DuplexGemini

When this game got announced on the Nintendo Treehouse, I got told

"So Bakugan shouldn't have been announced at the Nintendo Treehouse because it wasn't what Nintendo fans wanted? Doesn't make sense to me"

So it's ok for Nintendo to cause false hype for over a day to showcase a licensed game that not many asked for that turned out to be a buggy sloppy product? -_-

Re: GAME Grabs UK Exclusivity of Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition

DuplexGemini

GAME usually say it's GAME Exclusive on Nintendo Limited Editions, when it will eventually be available on the Nintendo UK Store at a later date.

It's happened with the Xenoblade Chronicles X and Hyrule Warriors Legends Limited Editions and even now, you can still order them from the Nintendo UK Store.

After that Mario Maker incident, I think I'll wait for Nintendo UK to open pre-orders thanks.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Virtual Console Revolution Must Wait as We Pay Once More for SNES Games

DuplexGemini

SNES games on the New 3DS did gain a little interest from me as it'd be great to play some of them on the go. Then when I heard that there's no such discount for buying them on the same NNID on a different console (Wii U), it's a no buy from me.

I'd probably get 1 or 2 if I was THAT desperate to play a favourite game of mine on the go like if I was on holiday (Particularly EarthBound), but I'll likely have other handheld games to play anyway. So I'm going to hold off SNES games on the New 3DS unless Nintendo offers a reasonable discount for also purchasing them on the Wii U, which I don't know if they ever will at this point.

For the record, charging a few pound extra for NES and SNES games on the 3DS Virtual Console in comparison to the Wii U is ridiculous.

Re: Hundreds of Limited Edition Majora's Mask New Nintendo 3DS Systems Continue to Flood Onto eBay

DuplexGemini

It's a real shame that Nintendo doesn't seem to stock as much as they should for certain items in these past few months as it just encourages people to take the opportunity to leech off the fans and in the end, make them feel very discouraged.

And I don't care if anyone says 'They're not forcing you to buy it from them' or 'They're not hurting anyone', it actually does metaphorically hurt those who would love to own a limited edition system as they have a passion for that franchise/company, but don't have the money to buy it for three or four times the asking price, just because they weren't lucky enough to pre-order it in those few hours it was available for the retail price.

The sad reality, is that stuff like this will continue to happen for as long as the demand exceeds the supply.

Re: Lucky New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Gamers Jump Straight to eBay to Flog Systems

DuplexGemini

I understand that people do this whenever a limited console gets sent in limited numbers as their opportunity for some financial gain.

But that doesn't change the fact that it's a shameless practice that forces discouraged fans to resort to if they really wanted it, just because they weren't lucky enough to receive this offer that they are actually interested in through no fault of their own.

Re: Play & Win: Join the UK Mario Kart 8 Tournament Rematch - Today!

DuplexGemini

Finished about 3 hours ago and overall, whilst it was still fun racing with others here, on my 9th race (Thwomp Ruins), just after I won the race, I got disconnected from the servers. This prompted me to reconnect, only to realise that the 15 points I should have won wasn't added to my score and it just skipped me to the 10th race.

Nintendo seriously has to sort out the Mario Kart 8 servers from what I've been experiencing, just as bad as the Brawl servers in my eyes for such an unfair result (As well as racers getting hit with green shells, yet they don't come to a halt). Would've been 19th place if it wasn't for that.

But regardless, a congrats to Lucy, Justin3 and John for making it to the Top 3, as well as everyone who made the leaderboards.

Re: Monster Savings To Be Had On Nintendo UK's Online Store, But You'll Want To Be Quick

DuplexGemini

5 hours later, I have now received my remaining codes for DKCR 3D and M&L: DTB. I already own those games, but I ain't complaining to have them digitally in the event I don't have the cartridges to play them on for a more efficient price than usual.

Pikmin 3 and LEGO: City are all installed, with Wonderful 101 still downloading. I probably could have got another copy as a gift to a person I know, though I don't know too many people who use the eshop much on their consoles. Ah well, happy to know I've caught a nice bargain today .

Re: Monster Savings To Be Had On Nintendo UK's Online Store, But You'll Want To Be Quick

DuplexGemini

My download code for LEGO: City The Chase Begins has arrived and is currently downloading.

Bagged myself 4 other games from the temporary deal and is still awaiting the codes, I assume they'll arrive through.

I seriously wasn't expecting that today

UPDATE: The codes for Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 have arrived, though currently my memory is a bit full and I can't seem to access the eshop atm. It's probably a high amount of traffic on the store I assume. Still waiting for the M&L: DT and DKCR 3D codes.

Re: Nintendo Disables Swapnote's SpotPass Service Due to Online Safety Concerns

DuplexGemini

An absolute shame they even decided to do this, it was one of the only ways I could get in contact with some of my distant friends, now I've only got the Miiverse messages function to do that.

I just wish the Nintendos 3DS online infrastructure had some more thought put into it by now, almost 3 years after its release and I'm hoping for a Miiverse update pretty soon.

Re: Male Wii Fit Trainer Revealed as Latest Smash Bros. Challenger

DuplexGemini

I definitely believe it's a costume swap where he has the exact same moveset as the female trainer, similar to Wario in Brawl where you can change from his WarioWare outfit to his regular dungarees outfit.

If not, it'd be a waste of space to make room for more potential characters that I hope make it in such as Ghirahim, Shulk or maybe Little Mac.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

DuplexGemini

I'm not planning on playing it very soon, not because I don't want to play it, but mainly because I'm currently occupied with Pokemon X, Rayman Legends and Beyond: Two Souls. Whilst I still have yet to pick up Wind Waker HD, GTA V, Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3, not to mention Mario 3D World and Zelda: ALBW coming soon DX.

Very good review Thomas, I'll still pick it up someday to see how it fares out.

Re: Nintendo Considering Cross-Buy eShop Purchases, But Doesn't Have Anything To Announce Yet

DuplexGemini

If Nintendo implemented a 'Cross-Buy' feature for the 3DS & Wii U VC titles, I would be inclined to play Mega Man 2 on the 3DS VC without having to pay for it again for a slightly more expensive price (Wii U: £3.49 vs 3DS: £4.49).

Reasons like this is why I hope Nintendo release an update to the 3DS to become compatible with Nintendo Network ID user accounts, especially as it's the same service as the Wii U. Plus having a solution for games to be tied to accounts as opposed to consoles, which is a big reason why I'm not keen on digital versions of retail games.

PS: lol at the typo 'PC Vita'

Re: New Super Luigi U Competition Opens On Miiverse

DuplexGemini

Took about 2 days, but managed to beat the story without picking up a single coin. Very hard in some levels when the level design just likes to chuck coins at you, but it's not impossible, providing that secret exits were used to bypass the 1st Bowser Jr. Boss. The fortress levels, with the exception of World 6, are usually the most frustrating levels to finish coinless.
I doubt the winner or anyone who got 0 coins will receive anything special besides bragging rights, but it was quite an accomplishing challenge nonetheless.
