@strongest_link The Super Gameboy 2 is the closest I can think of. It's not a console, but, actually it sort of is, since it is basically gameboy guts in a snes cart. A super gameboy could be reworked to be a gameboy console.
This is a deal breaker for me. Quite frankly I find it insulting to physical collectors. Why even call it physical? They could have fit all games on a 32gb cart.
Metal Gear Solid coming to the Switch is a big deal. It's worth getting the collection for Snake Eater alone. This will be a day one purchase for me. What are the chances the Switch also gets Vol. 2?
@Ruler-Of-All-Evil I said "generic pop music" not all pop music as a whole. Michael Jackson was far from generic pop music. It was in it's own league. How about I iterate. It's like comparing Beethoven to Elevator music. Its a metaphor for quality vs poor quality. One has a lot more substance to it. My point still stands, the prototype songs are trash, they sound like something composed in an afternoon. The more I listen to them the worse they get. Btw, Ice Cap was originally a song by a band called The Jetzons, so there must have been more artists or producers involved in this deal than just Michael Jackson. So back to the original point, "Trust me, once you get to hear more of it, you’ll change your thoughts on it in a heartbeat." No I don't trust you on this. I have no reason to, it makes no sense. I already know what music I like. If you enjoy the prototype music then I'm happy for you.
@RadioShadow sega official, the Japanese twitter account, very recently posted a happy birthday sonic video playing Michael Jackson music. Many people believed that this was sega teasing that they got the license to use the music again.
@Ruler-Of-All-Evil I played Sonic 3 on Windows years ago. The prototype music for Ice Cap zone is awful, it doesn't suite the vibe at all and from a composition point of view I find it boring, uninspiring and annoying. I've heard the tune enough to know that I dislike it. This is like comparing multi layered audio perfection to generic pop music.
Oh man, why did they have to go with that awful prototype music for ice cap zone? They could have at least composed something that sounds similar to the original
My order is in! Looking forward to it!
Here's hoping Square Enix look at more of their SNES rpgs and re release them. Soul Blazer, Illusion of Time and Terranigma would be excellent!
Nintendo letting go of Rare was quite simply one of their greatest mistakes. Rare created so much hype for the N64, every game they released was of high standard. They had a reputation for pushing the console to it's limits. Even outdoing Nintendo in many areas. I can only imagine how much better the Gamecube library (and sales) would have been if Rare was on board throughout the console's life.
I bought a wii u in December 2019 after owning a Switch since launch. I have to say. I really like the Wii U and it has a ton of games that are not available on the Switch. Example, the Wii U has Tekken!
I disagree with him 100%. I mostly play on my TV. In fact, I'm not a fan of handheld only devices being fired to only experience the game on a small screen. I love to have the tv option. The handheld aspect is more of a bonus to me for the convenience of being able to play while on commute. If the Switch was a handheld only I would not have bought one.
How about Namco gives the Switch Tekken, Ridge Racer and Soul Calibur? Its little things like this which are preventing the Switch from being my favourite console of all time. It's missing just a few games which have appeared on past nintendo consoles.
Would love to see more street fighter on the Switch. Hell, even ports of Capcom Vs SNK 2 and MvC2 would be amazing. I love the 30th anniversary collection, but in that collection it is the arcade versions of the games. A console version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 remastered in HD. I'd throw my money at that. Also, would be nice if the switch got Street Fighter IV and V
@Gerald Yes you can play it with the d-pad. And you can adjust the speed of the cursor to get it to a level that feels like the original or faster / slower. It's worth it, its overall a good remake and the remastered music patch is coming soon too!
I bought it yesterday and love it. Can't wait for the patch which will include a remastered soundtrack. I think people, particularly those who are musicians and appreciate art should give this game a shot. Yes, it is a short game. But it's also a work of art which is heavily focused on the music, design and journey. The little details, like how they made up a legit sounding language for this game series is what helps make it a unique experience. Think of it as buying a really good musical album. Each level for example is the length of the song, which is how they designed it when it originally came out on the sega saturn. CD music limited to around 70 to 80 minutes. The only music which can really loop is boss music. Also, if you like games like Star Fox you may also appreciate it.
The eShop design is not good. There are so many great games undiscovereable in amongst far too much shovel ware. I think the following would improved the eShop.
1. User ratings. Let users rate games out of 10 stars.
2. The front page needs to show people just how many great triple A games are on the system. Categorise Triple A, Indy Highly Rated, First Party, Third Party, underrated hidden gems etc.
3. Nintendo can see which good games are not selling well, they need to put underrated hidden gems in the spotlight.
Currently the eshop front page mostly just shows nintendo first party games and a few third party and indy games. They need to make more effort at pushing third party titles. Also, they need to make it easier to browse by genre.
