Re: Sega Looks Set To Raise Its Game Prices Up To $70

DazzaS

Taking inflation into account, games in late 80s and early 80s were equivalent of £80 in today's prices. They had smaller development teams and less to worth with.

Taking that into account, games are still cheaper than they were 30 years ago. But they need to release unbroken games. Still shoddy they charge so much for an unfinished game.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Magics Up July Release Date On Switch, Launches After Other Versions

DazzaS

No Man's Sky, Sonic Frontiers and possibly this is starting to show the absolute limits of a switch port from third party developers.

Why I understand the desire to port a game from an insanely popular franchise to a system well with a massive install base, the developers need to decide ti eitherr create a seperate game for specifically to tailor the system or don't create games for it at all.

All very well wanting a stronger system, but the switch sells well still Japan, whixh is the market Nintendo always targets.

While I don't doubt Nintendo are working on the next console, they will want to balance battery life with processing power and performance.

A sensible approach will be power between zbox one/PS4 and xbox series X/S/PS5. Maybe 1080p unldocked and potentially 4k docked if they can manage it.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Origins

DazzaS

I'm not happy with Sega's business practices. We are getting less with this collection than we did for the mega collection. However I have pre ordered it and it is pre downloaded on my switch, so I am clearly part of the problem.

What makes it worse is I have been looking forward to this collection since it was announced.

After last year's announcement, I was counting down to more info. Then I counted down to being able to pre-order then after it pre downloaded I am counting down to being able to actually play it. Despite playing it in various guises since the original mega drive days.

Re: Sonic Frontiers Gameplay Showcases A Pretty, But Sparse Open World

As much as I want to, I don't think I'll be getting this on the switch. There will be some heavy downgrade on this so will probably get it for PlayStation (as long as I can get one from John Lewis).

I don't think this is that much of an early build. I think this is going to be as good or nearly as good as it will be.

The pop ups so close to Sonic is a bit concerning, but Sega normally want to hit a date, as opposed to delaying it to polish it properly, but I could be wrong and they are indeed sorting out tweaks in time for release. Will have to see.

Re: British Gas Advises Consumers To Turn Off Games Consoles To Save Money

DazzaS

There is an argument to turn off devices on standby directly from the mains.

One device on its own may not make much of a difference but as many as possible can may a bit of a difference.

That will take a lot of discipline as we have all got used to leaving devices on standby.

However, it won't be enough to reduce bills that will make a significant difference. The rising fuel caps is busting a lot of people hard. That is not even taking into account gas prices for the winter, which will go up again by around 40% in October.

Re: Sonic Origins Arrives 23rd June, New Trailer And Website Are Live

DazzaS

I'm getting this, mainly because it is the first time in over a decade that Sonic 3 and Knuckles will be available on a home console. but would be nice to play the widescreen editions on a telly and notn use my phone.

I don't like the price point structure thought, particulaly when it seems like Sonic 1, CD and 2 are essentially theb Christian Whitehead ports for anniverary mode. I imagine though you have to get the music pack to have the original music for some of the Sopnic 3 levels. Jackson estate no doubt getting a cut of that.

Also in anniversary mode, they seem to have done away with lives and focused on coins for some reason.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Is Apparently Coming To Nintendo Switch

DazzaS

I understand the game being set in the 19th century. The technology in the world won't be affected and you stay out of the Grindewold and Vomdermort stories. Plus probably avoiding a lot of image rights issues.

I also can understand how it will run. The game is meant to be playable on the PS4 so it is not a true next gen game so it will probably be a slightly reduced version of that.

Unless they indeed go for the cloud but then if so why show the box art.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Are You Getting On With Ring Fit Adventure?

DazzaS

I purchased mine in January. Then set it to one side. After the pandemic hit and the following lockdown I started to use it be cause I could no longer cycle to work.

I have been playing regularly since roughly 4-6 times a week. according to my switch I have sunk over 150 hours into it since launch and considering I have done approx 45 active minutes on it each time which equates to 90-120 minutes playing time, it's safe to say I have noticed the difference.
