@Not_Soos You can hide under the mushroom rock looking trees and make a fire there. The rain falls like real life so finding shelter under any large structure will keep you and the fire dry.
During promotion for Skyward Sword, Aonuma said that he would be interested in doing DLC for Zelda. I knew this day would come, I just didn't want it to.
@GravyThief They have both been confirmed to run at 30 fps however, even the best games have the occasional slowdown if too much is happening at once. There is also slight graphical differences where the Switch has higher quality textures on environmental objects and a greater draw distance. Colors are a bit different as well, but that's not important at all.
@Henmii Technology commercials always superimpose images on the screen. Cell phone commercials, websites, and games are always faked for quality control purposes. Lighting conditions and dirty screens are two of the first variables I can think of that makes it unappealing to use live footage. It has nothing to do with not being able to. It's like a car commercial showing a dirty car or one with scratches or low tire pressure.
Thanks for the guide. I checked prices for these at the time of the announcement and they were much higher. I just ordered the 200GB for $70 and I should have it by tonight with Amazon same day shipping.
@giwayume You must understand how unreasonable that is. There are games that are explicitly intended to be consumed by Japanophiles. Xseed tends to publish those intentionally niche games in the west because they know how to market to that audience. Neither Nintendo nor Square-Enix does that. Nintendo and co want to make DQ a global success, with that being said, creepy anime bullpoop has to take a backseat. Blowing kisses at and shaking your tits at monsters is gross, regardless of if Xseed or NIS would have published it or not. But her Sexy attacks are still there if I'm not mistaken. She just doesn't get to be scantily clad anymore while she does it.
@GeminiSaint Yeah. He's a time traveling, alien/human hybrid warrior from a destroyed future with repressed feelings for his estranged father. Or is it just a ponytail?
If you can see all of the monsters on the field instead of random battles, how does the remake handle recruitable special monsters? I need Hackzilla in my life.
@giwayume I don't leave negative comments, but this is seriously your loss. The game is wonderful in all ways that are measurable. It's a silly, whimsical game that in no way benefits from it's original use of sexuality with Jessica or the implied beastiality(her bikinis were censored?).
@bolt05 Never played them actually. VIII was my first, and I've since gone back and bought all the remakes and IX but have only enjoyed IX as much even though it was for very different reasons.
@sandman89 12 years ago this was my first. I got a demo for it in a Shonen Jump magazine and it sold me immediately. It's really good and everyone who can tolerate a JRPG should play it.
@TossedLlama VIII for both. It does not create the same rewarding loop as VII from jumping through classes, but the size of the world make it's side content (The Alchemy Pot and the Monster Arena) seem much more worth it. VIII has a wonderfully simple story that is full of memorable characters with voices that make them feel more fleshed out than VII.
@Thermoclorn They are completely unrelated tales every time. VIII is my personal favorite JRPG ever and from recently playing VII, I can say that it is still superior. Voice acting is charming as heck which really sells it, but the game is just a much more grand scale compared to VII. Does not have a class system. Does not need one imo. Characters are customizable to a degree as far as skills are concerned as each character can learn moves and abilities between 5 character specific battle traits but skills points are limited to how many times you can level up so maxing them all is not possible unless I'm hugely mistaken. ex: hero has swords, spears, boomerangs, fisticuffs, and courage while Yangus deals in clubs, scythes, axes, fisticuffs, and humanity.
@Mr_Zurkon Being upfront the way he is respectable. If they decide to put it to a vote and ask Wii U backers what they would prefer, I would have no issues at all with it's outcome. But we have to be considered in the conversation. That's the entire golden ideal of kickstarter.
@Mr_Zurkon Here's an actual reply I received from Iga himself when I first asked him about the possibility of a Wii U version.
Nyris Johnson Nyris Johnson May 11 2015 I'm excited to see that this type of game is still being created in today's gaming climate. Having gotten into the Castlevania games, specifically the Igavania games, incredibly late, I was surprised by how much of a great experience I was having. This brings me to the issue I have faced today in that it appears that you will not be making a Wii U version. While the majority of games have steered away from these kinds of games (Vania and platformers), Nintendo consoles are where these kinds of experiences still thrive and I feel it to be a huge missed opportunity to abandon users of the other current gen console.
Koji Igarashi Koji Igarashi Jun 1 2015 Report spam Hi again! Sorry for the delay. In case you haven't seen, the Wii U has successfully been added as one of the options alongside the existing consoles for both physical and digital, so you can back as usual and choose your console in a survey after the Kickstarter ends. Similar to the previous consoles, the $60+ Wii U versions will also include exclusive content, and you can still mix and match platforms for any tiers that include both a digital and physical copy. You can find more information here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iga/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night/posts/1248002 Thank you for your support!
We paid for it's ability to be developed. That's unarguable. Regardless of symantics of if it is a "gift" or "donation" or whatever, Igarashi and his team told us that if $3,000,000 can be raised, a Wii U version would be created. We raised far beyond that.
@CanisWolfred When his go to is Scott Pilgrim, there is truly no argument you can make that River City is outdated. Scott Pilgrim follows the exact same formula except it's a bit more dated in that it's levels are done on a SMB3 map and there's no point or reward in backtracking.
I'll take an NX upgrade personally, but that decision should absolutely not be made unless the majority of Wii U backers agree to it. They took our money ($3,000,000 was the Wii U amount) and said it would be enough to cover it so why would that suddenly change unless they lied or mismanaged the project?
@MitchVogel Did you back it? When we gave them money explicitly for the purpose of getting a Wii U version, it should happen regardless of what is relevant. Igarashi and co. made the stretch goal after tons of us backers requested it, and then we appropriately responded by donating the money for said stretch goal.
@CanisWolfred It's especially depressing when meaningless terms like that come out of people who have the power to influence others decision making because of their profession. That's like saying Street Fighter V is outdated because it has the same mechanics from SF2 or A Link Between Worlds has outdated design. Is painting outdated since digital artistry exists now?
@CanisWolfred For me, this game is just short of perfect. Could be a little more non linear like the original, but each major mission starting with Kunio in class disrespecting his teacher is quite comical and keeps me entertained.
@CanisWolfred I haven't beaten it yet but have played for a dozen or so hours on Hard mode and have been having a blast. I don't understand in the slightest what Mitch means by "outdated" in that I find the RPG level up systems, hidden skills, purposefully cheesy dialogue, and just the pure joy of giving someone a running haymaker to be fully worth the time of a game enthusiast in 2016. Combat is two buttons (3 if you count jumping) but gets incredible mileage out of those inputs when you combine it with jumping, running, weapons, grounded enemies, or those who are staggered once you get a couple towns in and start to discover new abilities that make fighting mobs exciting.
The shops are a bit of a let down however. No longer are there items that give you stat boosts so much as each level has a dedicated restaurant for dine-in stamina and willpower regen, a Tech Burger for takeout stamina and willpower regen(smiles are still free), a bookstore for obtaining new abilities, a gear shop for stat boosting equippable items, and a secret hidden shop with new abilities and game breaking equipment items. The Job (quest) system keeps you busy as they give you money toward your next upgrade that you're trying to buy and encourage you to try all of the game's combat options and explore every hidden nook of each level.
@tobibra Do that sooner rather than later. I just checked the gba version and its $100 on Amazon. Was $50 just 3 months ago. I think this is a game that is going to be quite difficult to obtain the longer you wait.
@MitchVogel Scott Pilgrim was a complete copy of River City Ransom in every way but with faux 16 bit graphics. What about the gameplay is outdated that modern brawlers do better?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE The game is great. Reviewer completely misunderstood the game, which seems to happen quite often on this site. I've been playing it for the past 3 days and haven't been able to put it down.
What the hell is wrong with people? You can't force someone else to care about the things you love. Did the developers in Japan even know who this girl was. I've never heard of her and I'm American. Regardless of fame or not, I'm a huge Zelda fan. Do I get a petition when I die to force creators to immortalize me in their work of art?
@MitchVogel Sport, noun: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.
Moving your fingers quicker and more precisely is absolutely physically exerting to those who lack dexterity. Fighting games require the same use of technique, skill. and timing that I use in real martial arts.
@DiscoGentleman I don't know why people are so caught up in semantics. My best guess is that you have people who aren't skilled in fighting games or competitive games in general who are ignorant to what separates skill player from an average one. However what can't be argued is that if League already set the precedent, then this is a no-brainer.
@Tsurii They don't just play it more. They play it better. You wouldn't say the same for basketball or soccer. MLB players don't simply play baseball more than your average fan.
The only thing I don't like about Zelda fan art is the obligatory use of Triforce insignias on his apparel. Link doesn't wear Triforces, Zelda and other royals or holy types do.
This is a little excessive. Not to trivialize the issue, but seriously, get good. You can't expect to fight a new character with the same moves you're used to using and for it to work every time.
@MetalKingShield I'll have to see these changes for myself as I have no reference for what actually occured beyond the original version. Red was definitely flirtatious with Yangus but that's because it's implied that they were romantically involved before the game begins. Do you know if the 3DS version will still have voice acting? That's a huge selling point for me buying the game again.
@Einherjar Super heroes are supposed to be larger-than-life. I agree with you on that. In many ways I agree with everything you've said. My issues have never been with the use of sexuality or bikinis in games, media, or culture. My original intent before it was blown out of proportion was that by focusing on Jessica's sexiness outside of the narrative it damages her character because she's not as shallow as her combat armor and attacks would make her seem. That's not a good thing when it comes to character design because it makes her flawed(not in the relatable human way) when compared to the wonderfully realised characters such as Angelo and Yangus and even our stereotypical silent protagonist. Her fifth skill should have been Temper or Willpower and not Sex Appeal because like Angelo, Yangus, and the Hero, with charisma, humanity, and courage its the trait that most accurately describes her and actually fits the narrative. This is not a SJW thing was never intended to be. This was just a case of me pointing out bad character design in my second favorite game of all time and hoping they would do better.
edit: One last time I'm going to use my clown example as I think it was misinterpreted the first time. Let's pretend that Jessica skills weren't Whips, Staves, Knives, Fisticuffs, and Sex Appeal but were instead Whips, Staves, Knives, Fisticuffs, and Juggling. Every so often you would level up and Jessica could learn a new skill that incorporates her clown abilities. Also in the late game and even throughout the mid game, you discover various outfits that can be equipped that changes her default appearance to one that looks like a court jester and various harlequins.
Now with Jessica's clown aspects of her character replacing her sexy, put that into the game without ever referencing them in narrative or dialogue. Keep Jessica as serious and short-tempered as she always is and tell me this is not a stupid character we just created with throwaway skills for no reason. Yeah it would be silly to the player, and there is some value in that, but if its that easy to replace with some other skill set why not make it something meaningful like what Yangus has?
@MetalKingShield Sorry for the long list of replies, my day was full of other stuff. A man can absolutely create sexy women, my only problem with it is that too often its the only option or in Jessica's case is shoehorned in when her character in dialogue and cutscenes makes no reference to her sexiness accept Angelo pretending to come on to her when you first meet him. Society in many ways is influenced by the art and media it creates and there are misogynist out there that view woman as having one role in society and this constant defaulting to sexy empowers that messed up way of thinking.
edit: If Jessica's personality ever hinted even once that sexy was a way you could describe her it wouldn't be as bad. I don't know if she was rewritten for the NA version of the game but the start of this issue for me was that her character doesn't match how she's visually portrayed in battle or her combat skills in general. It hurts her and makes her a bad character because she's inconsistent all because she had to be TNA for no real reason.
