The amiibo situation is ridiculous. I'd hope they're not doing it on purpose, but it surely can't be that hard to reach the goal of allowing every amiibo collector to be a completionist.
It is hurting my brain that so many of you guys seem incapable of reading between the lines with what he said. He states clearly that they like to announce games when they're nearly ready. Those of you saying, "Well if you know we want a main series Metroid title make one!" Seem oblivious to the fact that there is quite likely a game in development, but it's just not complete enough for them to show if yet. You do realise that Nintendo tend to develop their titles for several years, right?
This uproar reeks of the old Smash Broa complaints. "Sakurai put Lucina in the game -instead- of (insert character)." except that he didn't, and she (and other clones) don't take up space a different character would have had otherwise.
You're all acting like Nintendo had development plans for a new main series Metroid game and Federation Force laid out of a table and then picked Federation Force over the other title. They obviously didn't. It's just that Federation Force is much closed to completion.
It comes across really spoiled. You all have no idea what Federation Force will play like of how much fun it'll be. Of course, it could be rubbish, but those of you writing if off from a short video are crazy. Those of you saying Nintendo is doomed are such drama queens. I don't understand why it's so hard to have a little faith in a company you supposedly love.
@MadAdam81 Relax. Anyone old enough to get the joke is old enough to predicate it and anyone else is too young and therefore can just see some great character design.
Looks great! I'm not too bothered about the delay. Nowadays I'm quite patient when it comes to games. I'd rather wait a little longer and have the final product be awesome.
Very excited about this. The DKC games were some of my favourite on the SNES and I absolutely loved Returns when it came out (as well as the new play control version of Jungle Beat, to mention it.) I would say that it's obviously going to have questionable moments right now, as it is the first playable demo. I have faith in Retro that they're going to pull it off once again.
EDIT - Obviously, if i were able to play the demo I'd give a better view, as I'm only speaking from my excitement at the moment.
I agree with Reggie completely. If someone is not interested in Mario and DK, etc, they won't buy a Wii U, period. That is why i own mine, because i love Nintendo games. Third party games, exclusive or not, are extra bonuses that i get.
Like I said, I agree with Reggie. You increase the install base for Wii U, third party developers who are wary will see the amount of people who may buy their game, they'll develop.
I'm thrilled with it so far! Miiverse is a brilliant idea, and now that I can acess it off my iPod touch, it's even better. Yeah, there's no dedicated app yet, but I just created a link to Miiverse on my home screen.
Iwata also stated in a press conference that it's only in the beta stage at the moment and that posting content will eventually become available. It's all good!
I didn't fully understand what they meant by 'in the same world as aLttP', but if it does mean it's the same map, then I actually think it's pretty awesome! Changing the layout of Hyrule is a necessity, to keep games fresh, but personally I think that the idea of having one game where the lay of the land is repeated is pretty cool!
Merry Christmas, guys! Not a huge haul this year, but I had ZombiU and Professor Layton, but I'm happy! My fiancée bought me a Wii U a few weeks back as an early present, too!
I don't understand how people struggle to understand this. All three splits happen in OoT.
Split 1: Link defeats Ganon in the future. When he travels back to the past, he tells Zelda everything, they get Ganondorf arrested before he can do anything. This leads to Twilight Princess, yadda yadda.
Split 2: After Link leaves the future in OoT after defeating and sealing Ganon, Zelda and the rest of Hyrule begin to pick up the pieces of the kingdom. Some time later, Ganon breaks free from the seal, there in no hero because Link left, the gods intervene and flood, etc etc.
Split 3: During what i assume is the final battle with Ganon, Link is killed. Ganon claims the triforce and in a last resort the sages seal him without having a hero to weaken him first. With the Triforce, Ganon is able to take over the Sacred Realm, leading into aLttP.
Those of you saying that there is no part of OoT where Link dies... well, of course. Because that would mean that the game ends. However, the idea of Link dying (as much as I or anybody else may not like it) makes the transistion from OoT to aLttP make so much sense.
I feel that this official timeline is pretty easy to understand and joins all the games together better than any fan made timeline. Nintendo releasing a timeline was something I dreaded because i always assumed they'd haphazardly throw the games together in a way that would make no sense, but this is awesome.
For those of you asking about the possibility of Link failing in every game, and therefore there being a split for every game, consider this:
If this is the official timeline, then it is canon. Therefore, it is canon that Link succeeds in every single game, no possibility for him to fail. The only exception to this is OoT, where (again, considering that this is official) as well as succeeding in defeating Ganon and therefore splitting the timeline into two, Link also canonically fails at some point (which I believe to be him being killed in the final battle). This is therefore the only canon example of Link failing in his quest, and therefore, because it is canon, it creates another split in the timeline.
I'm guessing that Link gets killed by Ganon during the final battle, after he has awakened the sages. Then, after his death, without time for Ganon to take over the whole of Hyrule, the sages find a way to seal him, without him being defeated by Link. That's in keeping with the town names on AoL.
I have to say, I dreaded the moment that Nintendo released the official timeline, but (assuming that this rumour turns out to be true) seems like a good timeline.
The third split is easy to explain. Link dies while trying to defeat Ganon, and so the sages have to seal him without him being defeated by Link. That way he can take over the Sacred Realm, leading into aLttP.
Obviously, the idea of a split after every game where Link could possibly fail is a bit of a plot hole, but surely, the canon timeline includes Link failing in OoT, but not in every game. This throws a really interesting fact into the Zelda timeline, considering that officially, Link has failed at one point to defend Hyrule, leading to the third split.
The only thing that doesn't make sense is FSA coming waaaay after FS, but hopefully we'll get an English translation and all will be revealed.
