Even if that were a completely valid excuse, that doesn't forgive the lack of online leaderboards, which had every reason to be in there since 6 out of 12 of the games were high score games and they had a working friends system. Nor does it forgive the fact that their other games like NSMBU and Pikmin 3 do/will not have online (in the case of Pikmin 3 it was just confirmed they wont have online multiplayer, but if you can't compare your challenge mode scores with friends on a leaderboard then Nintendo has completely missed the main point of this last generation.)
Anybody who thinks the VGA's is a legitimate awards show is fooling themselves. All the categories are "best" and "game of the" and video games are one of the things that are so numerous and varied, that they just wont fit into the categories. Best Multiplayer? Did you really have every single game with a multiplayer mode in the running? If so, how did you compare them? Best graphics; most realistic or best style? And how did you rank styles? Why is Draw Something being compared to Simcity, and how come all but one of the handhelds are Sony when the vita is doing terribly, and the 3DS had a lot of good releases that weren't the newest Mario? Why is most anticipated even a category; that's just blatant advertising for sequels.

This sounds cool but I'm a bit worried. When I first got rechargeable battery packs for my Wii remotes, the actual rechargable battery was significantly lighter and actually required me to overtilt the controller when I was playing motion games. Even after Wii Motion + I was having these problems, so until I actually found some induction charging batteries that weighed the same as real batteries, I ended up us normal AA's anyway.
The Gamepad also has really good motion detection from what I have played, and that Uboost thing looks pretty bulky on the back. I don't know if the WiiU calibrates in such a way that weight doesn't matter, but I'd rather not pay $20 on twice as much battery life at the expensive of decent motion control.
I like its design, reminds me of a Game & Watch or NES with the Red on Black.
And for those Wii people who only buy one game with there Wii I can see this being somewhat useful, but otherwise I think it'll be relatively unsuccessful since it has no backwards compatibility or online. That and the WiiU just came out.
I think the sold-out thing applies mainly to the deluxe kit, as buying basic is actually a bad investment since it has lower memory and is actually more expensive if you want Nintendoland to go with it (most people will).
So if you see a bunch of basics in stock but deluxes are sold out, don't be surprised if that remains true for a while.
I also think that the launch would've gone better if they didn't release NSMB2 at all, completely eliminating the "we see 2D mario too much, why should I buy a new console for it" aspect. Especially since NSMB2 was a pretty forgetable experience in comparison.
The thing is that in smb2, different characters took the place of needing unique power-ups. This sort of happens again in SM64DS when all the characters pick up the same power-up, but do different things.
If they were to put Peach in, or indeed any other character with different stats, they would need to design levels with all of that in mind as well as 'nullify' power-ups to accentuate their differences rather than give them all an easier time with floating when one of them could already float. I can see why they decided to stick with the same characters as last time, but it'd be neat to see something like that in the future.
While I'm not a big fan of Borderlands, this is hardly a reason not to do it. The best way for Nintendo to gain back credibility with the core gamer audience is not to show the gamepad as a defining feature for every game but rather a helpful tool for games that don't really need to rely on it.
I can easily see the gamepad being used for quicker inventory management, a constantly displayed map with important locations marked, or even something as simple as faster weapon swapping or stats. I'd even consider buying it if it supported off-screen play. There doesn't need to be an "oh sh*t" moment for a good reason to port.
Though this long after release it would have to release as a complete or special edition to get fans to repurchase or new people to get it on a new console.
Normally I'd be angry and say he's looking down on Nintendo, but this is legit nice and I'm happy that it's not trash-talking and doomsday speak for once.
"Buy 7 year-old technology instead of new generation hardware this holiday season because we want your money. And as we are targeting you, the hardcore Nintendo fan, we're positive you'll be interested in generic shooters, an incredibly inaccurate 3D sensor camera, and games that you haven't even heard about. All for the low, low price of what your brand new console will cost when it comes out."
Microsoft, I have a 360. I haven't touched it in 2 years, as everything I wanted it for I can either find on PC or have already played.
I'm very curious how many years Minecraft's going to win some form of game of the year. Yes it's a different version, but it's still the same game (actually less).
Not surprised Skyrim beat it, it's an ocean as deep as a puddle but there's a lot of freedom in it.
Angry birds is still not anything more than a distraction meant for 5 minutes at a time or when you're doing something boring and mundane. I think it's insulting to everything else in that category that it won.
That's an incredibly cynical thing to say; Sure they can do that but given the amount of time this console generation has been out I think it's much more likely Nintendo got sick of the Wii and its competitors being so far behind in comparison to the technology available.
In 2 years I think we'll all see that the PS4 and new Xbox wont actually that much more advanced than the WiiU anyway, and still carry an obscenely high price (and probably use the tablet gimmick themselves because hey, that's what they did with motion control)
Given what we know about the WiiU, it is entirely fair to say it's next gen.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn't anywhere near as bad as it sounds. Or even bad at all.
My understanding is that the microphone inside the gamepad is meant to pick up everything that's happening in the room, and everyone having access to it in a 24 player game would mean every sound ever would bleed through. By making games use a 3rd-party microphone they ensure fewer people use it and that the people who do sound better.
Now if chatrooms and stuff with miiverse didn't use the microphone, that would be stupid.
I hate to sound like a jerk here but how is this news?
He's clearly not a fan of Nintendo in general as most his predictions say Nintendo has no chance is today's marker (always proven wrong)
And any developer can succeed as long as they put great games on the console instead of spamming absolute trash like they did on the Wii and put some real effort into advertising. He's just doing his stupid doomsday predictions again.
How about instead of attacking a game series that has been out for 15 years that isn't actually a metaphor for caging real animals, you attack the people that are actually caging the animals.
Oh right, because making a fake campaign against one of the most recognized and beloved franchises of an industry giant gets more attention than actually going to circuses and courts to get better animal treatment. Heaven forbid you do something that makes progress to your goal.
Eh, it was repetitive enough trying to collect 1 million coins; I haven't touched it since. If it turns out to be a deeper experience with coin rush than I'm just picking up from the pictures I might get it, otherwise I'm skipping.
Aw man, the buttons are squishy? Really? That's what I hated most about the majority of Wii Controllers, the squishyness of the buttons made it annoying as to how much you were supposed to push them. That and the tiny D-pad that made it difficult to push only one direction at a time, which doesn't seem to have improved.
This is a joke right? I've seen new-to-3-month-old 360 and PS3 games go for $60 regularly, + $5 if you go to Gamestop and buy it brand spanking new, because hey, it's Gamestop.
From what's been seen, WiiU games are providing high quality games on a new medium with tight controls (no silly arm waving in front of a 3D camera or giant glowing balls, just an accurate touch screen and buttons). Need I remind everyone that SNES games came out new between $60-$80? That means the average price has gone down, even excluding inflation. As the articles pointed out, cartridges were more expensive, but you have to take into account how much more production time and money needs to go into games.
This is very much a fair price for top quality games, and the low-quality games will go down in price quickly anyway. If anything, they're cheaper than they should be for what they really are.(of course, I'd take an issue with $80 nowadays; they may have to make a living but I don't have to play video games.)
Oh, and on the topic of free games; They're designed specifically to get more money out of a wider player-base over time than one initial entry, so they're not competing with those because they are just as much if not more so money dumps.
He compared it to a tablet, something that's not even in the same market, and used "we" throughout the entirety of his personal statement to try and give it credibility. Why does his consistently wrong voice matter for anything but guessing the opposite?
@Madmanonfire You're absolutely right. And by that I mean half. Because I can't justify my statement with something irrelevant. That's why I didn't.
In fact, that's why when I said nothing but console ports and was called out on it, I stated I was exaggerating, clarified my meaning, and asked for him to prove me wrong. This of course involved going through a list of games and pointing out console pushers that weren't available on other consoles (ie, find a well-known game that isn't a console port) and then telling me you found enough to invest in the console, which builds off the point that the main article is about as well as my stance on it; Which is mobile gaming platforms are doing fine, 3DS is selling well and the vita isn't because it doesn't any big-name titles that aren't console ports. The point by saying that last part is by saying if it did, it would sell significantly better, again looping back into my previous argument and therefore not an irrelevant point.
My challenge is still open and my admit of incorrectness on my now twice clarified point is still the prize by the way.
I'd like you to look at that list and tell me a few must-have titles that aren't available on other consoles. Keeping in mind, of course, that big name titles are the ones that consumers see as pushing a new console, so do realize that pointing out a few highly rated but obscure/small titles isn't going to help sales.
And now the follow-up question: is it worth the $250 + the cost of these games?
I will give you that I am certainly exaggerating a bit when I say nothing, and am more than a bit biased on this subject, but if you can do what I proposed above, then I will admit I was in the wrong.
You know why sony's been doing badly in there mobile sales? because so far it's been nothing but bad ideas. PSP Go screwed over anybody who previously had a PSP library as well as retailers, and the vita has gotten NOTHING but console ports, so there's no reason to buy it.Meanwhile the 3DS sells better than the DS did at this point in time. Why?Because phone games aren't games, they're distractions meant to keep you entertained by having the ability to stop playing immediately.
People with phones are no more gamers than the amish.
I thought they enforced that already, Gamestop never let me buy an M game without having me whip out my ID. But yeah, I think this is a good thing; I'm sick of little 10-year-olds with stupid, bad parents that bought them the game just as an easy babysitter thinking they're entitled to play a game specifically NOT for them and whining about it over the microphone.
I hope Nintendo saw them get the award for worst company of the year and said "Keep your distance, we wont stop you but you're no longer our representative for 3rd Party Support" so now they're playing it safe.
I'm completely fine with this though; anything to keep Origin the heck away from my Wii U.
These are valid point except the last one, which is a bad business practice because they're planning paid DLC BEFORE the game's finished, therefore leaving time that was spent developing things for the final product out of the final product. A better argument would've been Nintendo's lack of proper marketing for their better 3rd Party games screwed them over.
Of course a good counter argument is your core Nintendo gamers that found out that this game was excellent by looking online for information will probably not own an expensive handheld sony console that's got nothing but PS3 ports so far in its lifetime.
If this or a version of this does not come to WiiU though I will be sad.
He's again biased in this because he thinks angry birds will kill handhelds. Because he's an idiot who's never right unless it's obvious. I thought 3DS sales were going strong, what is he talking about "Weak sales"? You mean the Vita, which doesn't have a single game worth buying over its console counterpart?
I say again, please stop posting things about him, he doesn't deserve the attention or even any credibility in his field of expertise.
Iwata knows where it's at. In fact, I highly doubt the power of the next home console (which wont happen for at least another 2 years because Sony + Microsoft are trying to milk the casual market) will even be a threat to Nintendo. Why? Nintendo creates a unique product that Microsoft and Sony can pretend to emulate all they please, Nintendo's being doing it since it's start and knows how to do it best. The best selling Motion Games are NOT on Kinect or Move, they're on Wii because Nintendo is a household name associated solely with game consoles. Still would like to know what the price is though, we're getting pretty close...
Stop posting articles on Pachter, he doesn't deserve the attention. His job is to guess what the industry will do, and when he was repeatedly given air time at E3, he was wrong at every turn, and then called everyone who pointed this out fanboys. He's wrong 99% of the time, and the other 1% is when he's right 5 years later and pretends like that's how he meant it to be, a prediction of the far future. This guy should not be getting a paycheck in any form.
In this case I can guarantee Activision was not even remotely a huge reason for this controller, as the gamepad makes a fine controller ANYWAY. Stating that a single money trap game series like CoD was the sole reason for a version of the gamepad without a screen specifically designed to fit in your hands on a system that needs to be compatible with more than 2 controllers, therefore 2 controllers have to by definition not have a screen is the most absurd thing I've ever heard. He's posted several Anti-Nintendo quotes and been pretty much 100% Microsoft all the way, so on top of being terrible at his job, he's biased about it. there's really no need to take anything that falls out of his mouth seriously.
So when a series of meaningless distractions that pretend to be full fledged games come out on a phone that essentially everyone will eventually own it's less than $10, but when they come out on a real gaming console, they're $30? And that's not even all of them? What gaming company would soil their reputation with such a rip-of-
@sebman30 I think Microsoft has exclusive rights to minecraft on consoles; the only way it's showing up on WiiU is if Notch gets an offer, likes the WiiU enough, and it's built up from scratch again and is different enough to be deemed not the same as the 360 minecraft.
@SkywardLink98 Oh, so you want a massive game rivaling the size of 12 AAA games with the best graphics and resources at its disposal, and you want it to be developed within the year that developers have had a chance to work on an unreleased product that was constantly changing within that year, yet to take control of all of the consoles features? Or do you just want 12 games with the same expectations and therefore time and product restrictions? Pretty much the definition of impossible task. Expecting anything more of a crossover than either a series of minigames or a sports-related game (kart-racing included) without breaking what each individual series' holds as its strongpoints is impossible. So by definition, by expecting it, you are insatiable.
Well when Miyamoto teases the word pikmin for four years you have to understand we do expect it.
But he's completely right; today's gaming community is used to having yearly updates to series that satisfies them for a few months and then they want more. Which they get from bad DLC practices. This has arisen from games like CoD, which gets a shiny new wrapper on it every year and then thrown on the shelf at a crazy price.
Because of this they expect a new Zelda or smash bros to be made in less than a year, yet continue to be cutting edge in graphics and design. You crazy? We got loads of Mario with loads of features to come, and people are so used to wanting New before the Newest gets Old that the community is terrible.
And the Launch Lineup looks fantastic and has something for everyone. If you can't see that because "No Zelda or Smash" Then there's something wrong with you.
I don't see anything wrong with having the option of Twitter and Facebook integration; I would never use it, but celebrating that it's not in there's pretty ridiculous. you don't want to use it then don't bother integrating, but this probably lost them some sales, as social media has proven to be one of the greatest forms of free advertising.
I mean, if a friend start's tweeting all his high scores and impressing people, they might want to join in.
If anybody thought it would be sooner than 2015 you were deluding yourself. Brawl took I think around 3 years, and this is going to be bigger than it and was just started so.
I'd be more inclined to believe his idea on value if we even had a price to base it on. In the meantime, I can't say anything other than if the price is b/w $250-300, then I have no doubt it'll be a good value within the first few months, $350 and you'll need to convince us, $00 and up will take some godly marketing and support.
Me buying it as soon as it comes out depends on what price it is. That, and when they're going to tell me what price it is, because I have a rather unstable income and I need to know how much I need save, or else I will spend it on other games and by the time my temporary employment runs out and they come out with a price, I might not have enough.
Good news for WiiU sales, bad news for gamers. With every 'successful' iteration of CoD, the more the cancer of hollow single player and repetitive multiplayer with very little difference from the previous year's annual update spreads.
I would be happy to be proven wrong this time, but when your trailer has arrows pointing to the various locations that you have no choice but to go to anyway with explicit instructions on what to do when you get there, you have done nothing to combat my opinion of "It's not a new game, it's a $60 patch with no gameplay involving free thought."
A. He has a point, if WiiU is behind in power and not just graphical capability, then it will probably fall behind. It no doubt will anyway because it's going to be at least two years behind PS4/720, but it all depends on how much.
B. If it is just graphical power, it's already been pointed out that that isn't important. Yes, we all like nice graphics, but developers have to devote loads of time to them and the more advanced the hardware gets, the more they have to devote. It's only a matter of time before CoD has to take more than a year to make because it's supposed to look incredibly realistic. Minecraft has proven a game can have terrible graphics and still be a runaway success, and Nintendo has proven that without having terrible graphic.
C. It's going to be at least another two years before Sony/Microsoft comes out with their consoles, and when they do i can guarantee that they will take all of Nintendo's good ideas in making it right from the get go. WiiU won't fail because of its graphical power at that point; it will fail because it will be substantially inferior. At that point Nintendo can only hope that they both announce it at an absurd price-point
I think this approach will make or break Nintendo's idea of a social online community. I agree that there should be a friend-only zone that is free from this moderation, as I have a few friends who like crude jokes and stuff to that degree. But I think these "three stages" thing should only apply if a parental block is on. If parents can't be bothered activate to 'protect' their child even with fair warning and a system to do so, then why is it Nintendo's responsibility to be the parent and protect them? They've already taken the role of the helpful distraction babysitter, the parents need to do something to ensure a good development of a child.
For everyone else, sure apply the curse word filter and for games that recently came out moderate spoilers, but apply a passive system instead. that way responses are instant, and if someone says something truly terrible it can be reported and removed by this active team of people constantly monitoring.
I think EA either chickened out or found some other excuse to stick primarily in Microsoft's rather abysmal conference. Maybe they saw the smartglass and were like "Hey, why should we even bother with WiiU if xbox is doing it too?"
To which I say good riddance; They'll only bring repetitive sports installments and shooters to the system anyway, the only thing I'm interested in is Mass Effect and even then I don't want to give them my business because of their abhorrent launch of important and expensive day-one DLC with the initial release.
Also, this means no Origin. Always reason to celebrate,
I think consumers would be willing to shell out $300 or 250 euros for it, they may get away with $350 or 279 euros, but any more then that and they will see problems.
@The_Fox This is true, but if he had said a legitimate reason for being undecided then he would've gotten at least less criticism (I'm not gonna pretend Nintendo fans wont bash a mainly microsoft developer on a Nintendo site). Say "I don't have enough information on the online capability" or "what about games after the immediate launch", not something that was not even a problem 7 years ago.

I'd even consider buying it if it supported off-screen play. There doesn't need to be an "oh sh*t" moment for a good reason to port.
Though this long after release it would have to release as a complete or special edition to get fans to repurchase or new people to get it on a new console.
Re: Jack Tretton Wishes Nintendo Every Success With Wii U
Normally I'd be angry and say he's looking down on Nintendo, but this is legit nice and I'm happy that it's not trash-talking and doomsday speak for once.
Re: Wii Owners: Microsoft Wants You To Buy The Xbox 360 This Holiday Season
"Buy 7 year-old technology instead of new generation hardware this holiday season because we want your money. And as we are targeting you, the hardcore Nintendo fan, we're positive you'll be interested in generic shooters, an incredibly inaccurate 3D sensor camera, and games that you haven't even heard about. All for the low, low price of what your brand new console will cost when it comes out."
Microsoft, I have a 360. I haven't touched it in 2 years, as everything I wanted it for I can either find on PC or have already played.
Re: How Did Nintendo Do At This Year's Golden Joystick Awards?
I'm very curious how many years Minecraft's going to win some form of game of the year. Yes it's a different version, but it's still the same game (actually less).
Not surprised Skyrim beat it, it's an ocean as deep as a puddle but there's a lot of freedom in it.
Angry birds is still not anything more than a distraction meant for 5 minutes at a time or when you're doing something boring and mundane. I think it's insulting to everything else in that category that it won.
Re: MCV: Wii U Is A Stopgap System, Real Successor Is Still To Come
That's an incredibly cynical thing to say; Sure they can do that but given the amount of time this console generation has been out I think it's much more likely Nintendo got sick of the Wii and its competitors being so far behind in comparison to the technology available.
Re: Wii U In-Game Voice Chat Won't Use GamePad Microphone
Contrary to popular belief, this isn't anywhere near as bad as it sounds. Or even bad at all.
My understanding is that the microphone inside the gamepad is meant to pick up everything that's happening in the room, and everyone having access to it in a 24 player game would mean every sound ever would bleed through. By making games use a 3rd-party microphone they ensure fewer people use it and that the people who do sound better.
Now if chatrooms and stuff with miiverse didn't use the microphone, that would be stupid.
Re: Guess What? Michael Pachter Isn't a Fan of The Wii U
Re: PETA Targets Pokémon Black & White 2 in Latest Campaign
Hey Peta
How about instead of attacking a game series that has been out for 15 years that isn't actually a metaphor for caging real animals, you attack the people that are actually caging the animals.
Oh right, because making a fake campaign against one of the most recognized and beloved franchises of an industry giant gets more attention than actually going to circuses and courts to get better animal treatment.
Heaven forbid you do something that makes progress to your goal.
Re: Hands On: Is New Super Mario Bros 2 DLC Worth Your Golden Coins?
Summary of the Packs:
So far the Nerve-wrack one is the only one I've gotten a decent amount of playtime out of, the other two just feel very quick and easy money-grabs.
Re: Fatten Mario's Wallet with New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC
Eh, it was repetitive enough trying to collect 1 million coins; I haven't touched it since. If it turns out to be a deeper experience with coin rush than I'm just picking up from the pictures I might get it, otherwise I'm skipping.
Re: Wii U Pro Controller Feels "Amateurish", Say Kotaku
Aw man, the buttons are squishy? Really?
That's what I hated most about the majority of Wii Controllers, the squishyness of the buttons made it annoying as to how much you were supposed to push them. That and the tiny D-pad that made it difficult to push only one direction at a time, which doesn't seem to have improved.
Re: Talking Point: Are Wii U Games Going To Be Too Expensive?
Re: Pachter: Expect a Wii U Price Cut Next Year
He compared it to a tablet, something that's not even in the same market, and used "we" throughout the entirety of his personal statement to try and give it credibility. Why does his consistently wrong voice matter for anything but guessing the opposite?
Re: Mobile Publisher Believes Nintendo Ecosystem May 'Fall Apart'
@Madmanonfire
You're absolutely right. And by that I mean half. Because I can't justify my statement with something irrelevant. That's why I didn't.
In fact, that's why when I said nothing but console ports and was called out on it, I stated I was exaggerating, clarified my meaning, and asked for him to prove me wrong.
This of course involved going through a list of games and pointing out console pushers that weren't available on other consoles (ie, find a well-known game that isn't a console port) and then telling me you found enough to invest in the console, which builds off the point that the main article is about as well as my stance on it;
Which is mobile gaming platforms are doing fine, 3DS is selling well and the vita isn't because it doesn't any big-name titles that aren't console ports. The point by saying that last part is by saying if it did, it would sell significantly better, again looping back into my previous argument and therefore not an irrelevant point.
My challenge is still open and my admit of incorrectness on my now twice clarified point is still the prize by the way.
Re: Mobile Publisher Believes Nintendo Ecosystem May 'Fall Apart'
@Aviator
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Vita_games
I'd like you to look at that list and tell me a few must-have titles that aren't available on other consoles. Keeping in mind, of course, that big name titles are the ones that consumers see as pushing a new console, so do realize that pointing out a few highly rated but obscure/small titles isn't going to help sales.
And now the follow-up question: is it worth the $250 + the cost of these games?
I will give you that I am certainly exaggerating a bit when I say nothing, and am more than a bit biased on this subject, but if you can do what I proposed above, then I will admit I was in the wrong.
Re: Mobile Publisher Believes Nintendo Ecosystem May 'Fall Apart'
You know why sony's been doing badly in there mobile sales? because so far it's been nothing but bad ideas. PSP Go screwed over anybody who previously had a PSP library as well as retailers, and the vita has gotten NOTHING but console ports, so there's no reason to buy it.Meanwhile the 3DS sells better than the DS did at this point in time. Why?Because phone games aren't games, they're distractions meant to keep you entertained by having the ability to stop playing immediately.
People with phones are no more gamers than the amish.
Re: Reaction: Age Ratings and Video Games
I thought they enforced that already, Gamestop never let me buy an M game without having me whip out my ID.
But yeah, I think this is a good thing; I'm sick of little 10-year-olds with stupid, bad parents that bought them the game just as an easy babysitter thinking they're entitled to play a game specifically NOT for them and whining about it over the microphone.
Re: EA is Watching Wii U Closely
I hope Nintendo saw them get the award for worst company of the year and said "Keep your distance, we wont stop you but you're no longer our representative for 3rd Party Support" so now they're playing it safe.
I'm completely fine with this though; anything to keep Origin the heck away from my Wii U.
Re: This is Why New Little King's Story Isn't on Wii
These are valid point except the last one, which is a bad business practice because they're planning paid DLC BEFORE the game's finished, therefore leaving time that was spent developing things for the final product out of the final product. A better argument would've been Nintendo's lack of proper marketing for their better 3rd Party games screwed them over.
Of course a good counter argument is your core Nintendo gamers that found out that this game was excellent by looking online for information will probably not own an expensive handheld sony console that's got nothing but PS3 ports so far in its lifetime.
If this or a version of this does not come to WiiU though I will be sad.
Re: Michael Pachter Doubts 3DS XL's Powers of Revival
He's again biased in this because he thinks angry birds will kill handhelds. Because he's an idiot who's never right unless it's obvious. I thought 3DS sales were going strong, what is he talking about "Weak sales"? You mean the Vita, which doesn't have a single game worth buying over its console counterpart?
I say again, please stop posting things about him, he doesn't deserve the attention or even any credibility in his field of expertise.
Re: Satoru Iwata: 'We Have Not Changed Our Strategy'
Re: Michael Pachter: Activision Demanded Wii U Pro Controller for CoD
Re: Angry Birds Trilogy to Cost $29.99
So when a series of meaningless distractions that pretend to be full fledged games come out on a phone that essentially everyone will eventually own it's less than $10, but when they come out on a real gaming console, they're $30? And that's not even all of them?
What gaming company would soil their reputation with such a rip-of-
Oh. Activision.
Seems Legit.
Re: Square Enix: Nintendo Works With a 'Different Perspective'
@sebman30 I think Microsoft has exclusive rights to minecraft on consoles; the only way it's showing up on WiiU is if Notch gets an offer, likes the WiiU enough, and it's built up from scratch again and is different enough to be deemed not the same as the 360 minecraft.
Re: New Super Mario Bros. 2 Pre-Order Bonus is Golden
I'm jelly over here in North America
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Fanbase Demands Are 'Insatiable'
Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Fanbase Demands Are 'Insatiable'
Re: Miiverse Won't Connect to Twitter or Facebook
I don't see anything wrong with having the option of Twitter and Facebook integration; I would never use it, but celebrating that it's not in there's pretty ridiculous. you don't want to use it then don't bother integrating, but this probably lost them some sales, as social media has proven to be one of the greatest forms of free advertising.
I mean, if a friend start's tweeting all his high scores and impressing people, they might want to join in.
Re: Smash Bros. Wii U Wait Could Be Even Longer Than We Thought
If anybody thought it would be sooner than 2015 you were deluding yourself. Brawl took I think around 3 years, and this is going to be bigger than it and was just started so.
Re: Wii U Will be a 'Great Value Proposition'
I'd be more inclined to believe his idea on value if we even had a price to base it on. In the meantime, I can't say anything other than if the price is b/w $250-300, then I have no doubt it'll be a good value within the first few months, $350 and you'll need to convince us, $00 and up will take some godly marketing and support.
Re: Ubisoft Expects Five Million Wii U Consoles in First Six Months
Me buying it as soon as it comes out depends on what price it is.
That, and when they're going to tell me what price it is, because I have a rather unstable income and I need to know how much I need save, or else I will spend it on other games and by the time my temporary employment runs out and they come out with a price, I might not have enough.
So hurry up Nintendo.
Re: Black Ops 2 Coming to Wii U
Good news for WiiU sales, bad news for gamers. With every 'successful' iteration of CoD, the more the cancer of hollow single player and repetitive multiplayer with very little difference from the previous year's annual update spreads.
I would be happy to be proven wrong this time, but when your trailer has arrows pointing to the various locations that you have no choice but to go to anyway with explicit instructions on what to do when you get there, you have done nothing to combat my opinion of "It's not a new game, it's a $60 patch with no gameplay involving free thought."
Re: Wii U Power Lacks a 'Generational Leap'
Re: Talking Point: The Good and Bad Sides of Moderating Miiverse
Re: Reaction: What Happened to EA and Nintendo's Unprecedented Partnership?
I think EA either chickened out or found some other excuse to stick primarily in Microsoft's rather abysmal conference. Maybe they saw the smartglass and were like "Hey, why should we even bother with WiiU if xbox is doing it too?"
To which I say good riddance; They'll only bring repetitive sports installments and shooters to the system anyway, the only thing I'm interested in is Mass Effect and even then I don't want to give them my business because of their abhorrent launch of important and expensive day-one DLC with the initial release.
Also, this means no Origin. Always reason to celebrate,
Re: ShopTo Lists Wii U at Speculative £280
I think consumers would be willing to shell out $300 or 250 euros for it, they may get away with $350 or 279 euros, but any more then that and they will see problems.
Re: Peter Molyneux 'Not Really Decided' on Wii U GamePad
@The_Fox This is true, but if he had said a legitimate reason for being undecided then he would've gotten at least less criticism (I'm not gonna pretend Nintendo fans wont bash a mainly microsoft developer on a Nintendo site). Say "I don't have enough information on the online capability" or "what about games after the immediate launch", not something that was not even a problem 7 years ago.
