Haven't we seen most of this in E3 demo gameplay though? Really the only new thing in this is the music, which isn't too bad. I'd like to see some of the other power-ups we haven't though, I think we grasp the concept of drilling through dirt and using the lazer to bounce off things and turn really sharply. @ the comments involving music, Sega hasn't really been known for going too far with it, from what I've played it gets really repetitive, especially in their spin-offs where all they do is re-use old music with a menu theme thrown in.
I'd rather look forward to this than 5 episodic-games that will probably take their sweet time to become available.
Regardless, I hope they fixed the problems with the Day Stages in unleashed, and that the challenges (if any bonus ones) don't involve taking the old course and randomly placing spike traps everywhere.
I guess I can say I'm potentially looking forward to this
While this is awesome, I was kinda lookin forward to this being on itunes, not because I like itunes or anything, but I have a crap-ton of point cards for it from gifts.
@ Bass X0 I'm not saying that this whole episode-based gameplay doesn't have it's place, TellTale games has a tendency to release them rather well being as they're presented in a storybook like fashion, it fits. While I myself haven't played these games I've heard that they're fairly good. What I'm saying is that games such as this and other platformers shouldn't be split up because they can.
Take sonic 4 for example, it's been confirmed to be split into episodes when it's main focus is to mimic gameplay and most likely length of the other Sonic the Hedgehog games available for almost half the price of ONE episode. That's when I stopped caring about the game.
As for price, yeah it'd be a bit more expensive, I'm not saying that it would be all their prices added up though. I think that if developers added up these 5 episodes and put them all in one they'd figure out for themselves that these games are in fact not worth $50. Take Lostwinds for example, I loved the games and my only complaint was that they were way too short, both episodes together (in my mind anyway) should only cost $12.
But I'm done ranting in this post, you seem to have gotten me on this whole price shenanigan here.
A pet peeve of mine with wiiware is that developers seem to think that the best way of making games is to go with episodes, it's really more of an excuse to be lazy with the game and to get more money for it. Honestly developers should try their hardest to make a really good game so that it gets out there and heard, then make a sequel. Instead they split up their games into pieces that can't even be called full games themselves, it's really nothing short of a pathetic scam.
Thanks for the review though, it's nice to know the details of something when you think about buying it.
I agree that companies working together to promote an idea is good if not inspiring, but that's why the 3DS is so unique; it doesn't require glasses. Now there's definitely some difference between glasses and no glasses, but I highly doubt Sony will lose ANY sales of their 3D tv's because a handheld figured out how to do it without glasses.
Personally I dun like the glasses because I have to wear them over my existing pair, but meh.
Personally I'd work on that whole "doesn't operate unless you're standing up" thing even with voice commands and lack of accuracy before you start trash-talking the system that got the whole motion control phase started. Without the Wii, we'd have the Xbox 720 and the PS4, which control styles will merely be adding two more buttons onto the same controller they've used for the past 10 or so years.
BTW, I still haven't seen the bottom of an avatar's foot
Not to be annoyingly truthful, but isn't that the excuse Reggie gave last year immediately after the E3 conference?
2 years is enough to come up with something, or not even that. We lived with nothing more than Concept Art for the new Zelda for a year, why not just make another picture to say something's getting done rather than using the same excuse over and over again?
Congratulations, you're comparing an oversized ipod touch pretending to be something it's not to something that's 1/5th it's price and does exactly what the company intends it to do, and rather well I might add.
But it's a good thing he said this because now when it all falls back in his face it'll be all the more hilarious.
I say if you buy the game you should have access to all of it's capabilities, not have to pay for online multiplayer or (in some cases) extra content that was intentionally taken out of the original game so that it can be sold as "downloadable content" to make a quick buck (if the game and downloadable content were released at the same time, it should be one solid price, DC should be used to fix/add things that was thought of after the game's released).
Sure, Xbox 360 has the whole pay to play thing working out for it, but I want to see drastic improvements in Nintendo's online before they even think about charging for it.
This was confirmed a while ago, and second time at last year's E3 when in an interview Reggie stated that the reason there was nothing on Pikmin 3 then was that they didn't feel it had enough to release anything on yet
Yes they should. There are so many games on Wii that shouldn't have even be considered as releasable seeing as they both suck and are incredibly glitchy, not to mention full of gimmicks and badly reused concepts. I feel a twinge of sadness when I see that less than a row of games on Nintendo's entire wall in GameStop is actually worth considering. It's ruining the Wii's image with actual gamers while the casual ones keep getting the same motion-based party game with a shiny new wrapper.
