Re: Analyst Calls for Mario on Non-Nintendo Platforms

Aviator

@Otaku What? A port of SMB on a completely different system would take away from another systems sales?

Capcom have done this well. I can play Phoenix Wright, Ghost Trick, Marvel vs Capcom 2, SFIV all on my phone. I can also play Minecraft, Sonic, Secret of Monkey Island games, Final Fantasy games, Dead Space, Grand Theft Auto, Chrono Trigger and many more.

Re: Got Room for One More Version of Cave Story?

Capcom: So yeah... we're releasing Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (third release).

'Yeah of course you're gonna Crapcom. All you do is re-release games. Why buy this when I can buy Super Ultra Mega Gaga Street Fighter IV Arcade Collectors Edition.

Nicalis: So. We're gonna release Cave Story for the fifth time, (sixth if you count the PC re-release.) Enjoy.

"Thank god this is coming out!!"

Re: Kore Gang Publisher Needs Your Money for a Re-Release

Aviator

If this were something done through a crowdfunding site that wasn't run by the company it would see more money I think.

However, asking the community to pick up the pieces because of your bad decisions is a bit iffy.

Re-read the article. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but are they asking for money in order to re-release a game in the States?

Re: Talking Point: Lessons to be Learned from WiiWare and Beamdog

Aviator

@ThumperUK So you could easily make a game without getting paid by the company you're making for and sell 6,000 copies. I'd like to see that.

@madgear The PC version of Super Meat Boy was at launch (from memory) about 350mbs.

How is what Beamdog said childish? Most of its employee's probably have family, bills to pay, mouths to feed. Nintendo's policy of no pay till 6000 is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, Beamdog are some-what responsible for the 9-month certification, but you have to think. Do they really want to spend a whole amount of time on a game that may actually make zero profit?

I'm not sure if someone said it here or on the other news post, but do we know how much of the 1000 points I payed for the game go to the developers and Nintendo?

Re: Miyamoto: "Angry Birds Would Have Been Better on DS"

Aviator

@Retro_Hype yay! contradictions!
"i wouldnt even call it a game."
But wait...
"its that simplicity that ruins the game for me."

@TrueWiiMaster Wait, I don't get it. So Mario fans are allowed to dismiss Angry Birds, and yet Angry Bird fans aren't allowed to dismiss Mario?

Also, I doubt someone wouldn't have put in 100 hours into a game if they didn't enjoy it. If your hypothetical situation, of 10v100 hours was true, I would bet that you found more enjoyment in Angry Birds as you played it for 10 times longer than you did Mario.

TrueWiiMaster wrote:

What was the point of saying that? Are you seriously comparing the popularity of a free phone game to that of a full price DS game?

What I think Waltz was trying to say was that although he dislikes Mario games, he still respects those who enjoy the games, rather than simply outcasting them.

Also, let us clarify something. Angry Birds costs 99c, and yet, it is still able to provide hours and hours of gameplay. When you consider value for money, compared to a full priced retail game, you're getting an absolute steal with amazing pick up and play games, such as Angry Birds.

Re: Developers: Wii U "Less Powerful than PS3 and 360"

Aviator

I love how because s/he is anonymous s/he is titled a fanboy/biased towards Sony/Microsoft.

Kudos to those in these comments who have supported their opinions, rather than simply pulling the 'It's a troll' card.

Also, I honestly can't believe that a gamer cannot enjoy a game solely based on its gameplay. It's about the experience. Sound, graphics, story, gameplay all work together to create the game. They don't stand separate from one another. If one is superior to others, then the game will suffer as a whole.

Re: Mobile Dev: "Iwata Makes Me Fear for Nintendo's Future"

Aviator

The second quote made by Cousins is completely true.

Nintendo can't continue to run the way they're going. They need to look at their competition, see what they are doing, why they are doing it, and what's the benefit of doing it.

Going blindfolded won't be the best result.

To the people saying they wouldn't buy a $1 game over a full priced game, on most cases you get a lengthy experience with the $1 purchase. This is the case with F2P as well. Look at Team Fortress 2! Personally, I have put over 400 hours into that game, because it is fun. If a game can produce an experience that is enjoyable, and that is cheap/free, I'd rather play that than buying an overpriced game.

Furthermore, on the case of the developer being 'greedy', how are they greedy when they release a game that is free to play? You're not forced to pay money to enhance your experience. You're not being prodded with a red hot poker. On most cases, these developers put great amount of effort into their games, and continue to do so. Without any income, they can't continue to support their endeavors.

Re: GAME Enters Administration, Closes 277 Stores

Aviator

It's such a shame to see GAME the way it is at the moment. I love my local store, the staff are a friendly bunch. Hopefully, this is a representation of the staff at UK GAME. Hopefully someone will help GAME get back on their feet soon, especially to help those 2,000+ employees.

Best of luck to all those affected by this whole situation.

Re: Review: Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

Aviator

@Thomas Great review.

Just a question though, (though the answer to which may be embargoed). How many missions are there in the game? This is the major factor in me buying the game and although it offers the Fiend's Cauldron I don't want to be just playing the same level over and over again with little variation.

Re: Gears of War Developer Expects Wii U Success

Aviator

@retro_player_22 Then lets see those games? All I have heard about is 3rd party ports and announcements. Announcements don't make me spend money.

@Hanks In my post I never talked about the graphics, I talked about experience. I judge my games on the overall experience that they create in me. All factors work together in creating this experience. I don't 100% believe that a person would enjoy a game that has great gameplay, great sound, great everything, and horrible graphics. Not in this day an age at least.

@KoMiCtUrTlE How are they going in a new direction? 'Oh look, a new controller! NINTENDO ARE INNOVATORS!! F*** SONY AND MICROSOFT THEY CAN NEVER THINK ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS. WE ARE SO ORIGINAL!!'

@Malkeor I never said it was getting started. And thank you for bringing up Uncharted as an example. You'll find that games developed for PS3 only perform much better, rather than games developed for all systems.

@Gamesake But this isn't last generation.
